Would you like to sell your old stock 8mm rods? I have a slightly bent one that trashed the bearings and the rod. I have about 3 weeks left under warranty and ROBO is not treating me as a valued customer. This is the 3rd issue I've had that I've been given an Amazon link to purchase repair items myself. Not holding out much faith that they will send me a new rod and bearings.

Worst case, look at the replacement leadscrew thread because if you must replace them, use leadscrews.

Use leadscrews instead of chromed rods?

Which is ironic I know (another amazon link) but ... there you have it :)
Robo is apparently struggling (which is entirely on them for how they have flailed around on the printer business)

Well if I weren't disabled and unable to work at bench level or anywhere but in the house, that would seem obvious. Hence my request. I try to be as mobile and versatile as possible but sometimes it's not worth it if I can purchase *exactly* what I need.

    :)
Your call. Most folks are probably using their Y rods. Wanted to make sure your options were made obvious.

The only replacement Robo provided was for the drawer slide rails the beta used (they converted them to 8mm rods) so unless someone has a totally spare machine I am not sure they have spare Y rods floating around. Not impossible -- best of luck finding some.

As an aside I think the ones you need are $11.75 for a pair. Y axis is roughly 10 inches (254mm so roughly 300mm)

I've read of many going to 10mm rods, that's why I asked. Also the rods are closer to 14" - 357mm to be exact. Still holding out hope that somebody has one taking up space somewhere.

There is also the conversion for the beta that @Mike Kelly had written up -- that MAY have a link to cheaper ones.

(no, it looks like the links to the parts are no longer linked there -- however he also list them longer at 378mm)

Robo uses mild steel rods. Once the gears are put on the rods the set screws embed into the rods making gear changing tough. I would buy ground and hardened rods. They are available on Amazon and cut to your length. I posted replacement gantry holders https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3504503. These use common sleeve bearings and instructions on where to purchase the parts.

Sorry, I was referring to the smooth rods.

But alas, I actually received a new rod and a set of bearings from Robo in the mail today! I really wondered if I'd ever see them. Still have not received (nor has it been shipped) the new bed heater that was ordered by support under warranty on March 5th.

(not that I intend for that to be serious)
