Jan 21, 2019 7:34 PM - AbbyV: Hi... we're new to this forum and to 3D printing... got an R1 Plus for Christmas... printed several things... haven't used for a day or so... today, printed one thing tnough needed a couple restarts... extruder "hit" the bed then went high.. after a reboot was ok; trying a new thing now... but... extruder is "stuck" up in the top of the R1 Plus... way at the top... Matter Control X, Y & Z buttons not bringing it down. Help! (?)
Jan 21, 2019 7:41 PM - AbbyV: I decided to try to print one more thing tonight... and once the extruder warmed up, it moved even higher, grinding the gears... seems like the printer doesn't recognize where the extruder is... how to "reset" the X Y & Z coordinates?

    Jan 22, 2019 5:20 AM - Geof: thank you!

Feb 5, 2019 7:31 AM - max longstaff: replaced the r1 extruder with a reprap one do i need to reverse the stepper motor
    Feb 5, 2019 7:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey @Geof Ultibots has PLA 1Kg spools for $10 each.
Feb 5, 2019 7:58 AM - WheresWaldo: They have some PETG too for $10
Feb 5, 2019 7:59 AM - WheresWaldo: They must be clearing out their filaments.
    Feb 5, 2019 8:01 AM - WheresWaldo: https://www.ultibots.com/filament/
Feb 5, 2019 8:45 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo! Thanks for the heads up! Will check it out! Man the last time on was on their site was for 5lb spools of ABS years ago :D
Feb 5, 2019 8:50 AM - WheresWaldo: The email says they are closing shop, so eliminating all stock
Feb 5, 2019 8:53 AM - Geof: ah gotya. Shows 18 bucks to ship 5 spools...I'm out lol.
    Feb 5, 2019 9:15 AM - WheresWaldo: Still only $13 per spool
Feb 5, 2019 9:26 AM - Geof: I get PLA at around 9.50 a kg from most places these days :D But I buy quite a bit at a time (free shipping lol)
Feb 5, 2019 9:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey Geof, I got the Tronxy printing, can almost print PETG at 120 mm/s it is too bad the hotend just can't keep up with that speed on larger prints. I have a Titan Aero coming and plan on putting a Volcano hot zone on this thing. except for the crappy proprietary firmware and the very noisy extruder it is about 65 db
Feb 5, 2019 9:42 AM - WheresWaldo: That is for a completely open printer, even the R2 is much noier than thaty and it is all encased in plastic.
Feb 5, 2019 11:17 AM - TransBat: Has anyone checked out the upcoming Robo E3 printer: https://robo3d.com/collections/3d-printers/products/robo-e3
Feb 5, 2019 11:17 AM - TransBat: Randomly hit my Twitter feed this AM -made a quick post in the Off-topic section - was curious if anyone knew more about it?
    Feb 5, 2019 11:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Its a relabeled Flashforge Adventurer
    Feb 5, 2019 11:25 AM - WheresWaldo: http://www.flashforge.com/3d-printer/adventurer-3/
Feb 5, 2019 11:26 AM - WheresWaldo: Of course the Adventurer 3 is a whole bunch cheaper. At least this one is cheaper than the R2
Feb 5, 2019 12:17 PM - TransBat: That's what I determined too Flashforge Adventurer 3, which is the same thing Monoprice rebranded as their Voxel. Is this what they've been working on since the R2/C2, posied as a C2 replacement, ot just somethig to help their StemKits initiative.
    Feb 5, 2019 12:29 PM - WheresWaldo: Education market only I beleive.
Feb 5, 2019 1:40 PM - Geof: Hey Waldo, send me some pics of that beastm.

Feb 8, 2019 at 8:58 PM - Wells: Hey can someone please assist me?
Feb 8, 2019 at 8:59 PM - Wells: My robo 3d R1+ goes up when printing, when it should go down. I've tried firmware update and switching the cables on the limit switches
Feb 9, 2019 at 5:46 PM - Geof: Hi wells-please start a troubleshooting thread, but z goin up is almost always the two z switches being out of place. There is a video in the sticky (top) of troubleshooting that shows the issue and how to fix

Feb 11, 2019 9:48 AM - Geof: lol glutton for punishment?
    Feb 11, 2019 9:48 AM - toymaker: i get it
    Feb 11, 2019 9:48 AM - toymaker: well mostly
Feb 11, 2019 9:49 AM - toymaker: dielectric line of force.... duh
Feb 11, 2019 9:52 AM - toymaker: no wonder the MM experiment was a null... they where looking at only the em aspect without considering measuring the speed of the dielectric only
    Feb 11, 2019 9:57 AM - Geof: well above my knowledge ;) :D

Feb 18, 2019 4:32 PM - DavidR: speed of dielectric?
Feb 18, 2019 4:33 PM - DavidR: by MM do you mean Michelson Morley?
Feb 18, 2019 4:55 PM - DavidR: I'm not certain what you mean by the "speed of the dielectric". The major consequence of that expirement was tangential---they couldn't figure out why they always measured light at the same speed irrespective of their own movement.

Feb 21, 2019 5:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Your here early Geof
Feb 21, 2019 5:25 AM - Geof: Hey Waldo, just briefly. Works gonna be crazy today lol
Feb 21, 2019 5:28 AM - Geof: Hows the tronxy doin
Feb 21, 2019 5:30 AM - WheresWaldo: All apart at the moment, trying to figure out how to mount the Piezo Z endstop
Feb 21, 2019 5:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Plus I have most of the stuff for my bed upgrade, 18" sq. Mic 6 plate, and AC heater
Feb 21, 2019 5:31 AM - Geof: nice ! Will be one heck of a machine when your alld one
    Feb 21, 2019 5:31 AM - Geof: all done***
Feb 21, 2019 5:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Debating now do I even put in the Piezo or try to configure Marlin to use Stallguard on the TMC2130's
Feb 21, 2019 5:32 AM - WheresWaldo: Right now I am printing any parts I need on the R2. Once I did some needed maintenance to it it is purring along.
Feb 21, 2019 5:33 AM - Geof: hmmmmm.....my opinion is piezo. I had issues with stall happening for no reason and missing steps
Feb 21, 2019 5:33 AM - Geof: yep both R2s are chuggin along just fine for me as well. Decent machine really.
Feb 21, 2019 5:33 AM - WheresWaldo: Once the Tronxy is done, I plan on giving the R2 a heart transplant
    Feb 21, 2019 5:33 AM - Geof: duet or a different 32 bit?
Feb 21, 2019 5:34 AM - WheresWaldo: MKS SGen which is the newer version of the SBASE with removable drivers.I have som TMC2208's to go in that one, should quiet it right up
Feb 21, 2019 5:35 AM - Geof: I'm interested in that as well! Keep me posted on your progress!
Feb 21, 2019 5:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Since I know Marlin, I plan on using 2.0 in both.
    Feb 21, 2019 5:37 AM - Geof: 2.0 stable?
    Feb 21, 2019 5:38 AM - WheresWaldo: Yep
Feb 21, 2019 5:39 AM - WheresWaldo: Well at least for thew supported boards
Feb 21, 2019 5:39 AM - WheresWaldo: They still have issues with LCD screens I have heard, but since I run OctoPrint on every printer, not really an issue.
Feb 21, 2019 5:39 AM - Geof: nice ! for sure interested in quieting down the R2 lol. She's loud. The C2 as well really
Feb 21, 2019 5:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Should be the same swap basically since both use the same mainboard.
Feb 21, 2019 5:41 AM - WheresWaldo: On another note, I am almost completely moved away from S3D
Feb 21, 2019 5:41 AM - WheresWaldo: No issues at all with Slic3rPE
Feb 21, 2019 5:41 AM - WheresWaldo: and no phoning home
Feb 21, 2019 5:43 AM - Geof: I personally cant switch. It costs me to much time to navigate between profiles for printers. With S3D I can have them all open at once and bam bam bam printing and onto the next
Feb 21, 2019 5:43 AM - Geof: that and the gcode preview are about the only 2 things that keep me from switching
Feb 21, 2019 5:44 AM - WheresWaldo: I do miss the G-code preview, it is always a crap shoot how SPE is going to move the toolhead
Feb 21, 2019 5:48 AM - Geof: agree. I actually save alot of prints because of the preview (well big prints- small prints arnt that costly)
Feb 21, 2019 5:49 AM - Geof: S3D Does have some stupid things about it, but those two things man, cant go without them now that I use them.
Feb 21, 2019 5:49 AM - Geof: having 26 windows of Cura open or Slic3r open would likely make me pull my hair out lol
Feb 21, 2019 5:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I am still not convinced that Cura is any good.
Feb 21, 2019 5:50 AM - WheresWaldo: I am also sad to see that E3D went with a cloud slicer, I want stuff local, that's why I have an 8-core Ryzen PC.
Feb 21, 2019 5:51 AM - Geof: I have used it for my Sigma and Ultimaker in the past and depending on what I'm doing it can be great for those two machines.
Feb 21, 2019 5:51 AM - Geof: Its just so damn slow
Feb 21, 2019 5:51 AM - Geof: yea cloud drives me nuts. My one irk about Fusion is the cloud.
Feb 21, 2019 5:52 AM - WheresWaldo: But you can at least ba export all files local.
Feb 21, 2019 5:52 AM - Geof: yep, that is what I do the majority of the time. at least all client nwork
    Feb 21, 2019 5:52 AM - Geof: client work***
Feb 21, 2019 5:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Still free for Fusion 360 is hard to beat, plus all the CAM stuff is in their. Sometime this year there will be a CNC
Feb 21, 2019 5:54 AM - Geof: I'm actually working on a MPCNC over the next few weeks. CNC Router will be fun.
Feb 21, 2019 5:54 AM - Geof: and agree, even at the 50.00/month for Fusion, its a no brainer
Feb 21, 2019 5:55 AM - Geof: I gotta get workin on a few things, be back later!
    Feb 21, 2019 5:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Have a great day.
    Feb 21, 2019 6:59 PM - Bill Smith: OK, Where can I get a Thermistor for a R1+?
Feb 21, 2019 7:01 PM - Bill Smith: This POS ROBO3D Company is a POS. Sold Units that were discontinued. Gonna be a lawsuit, JS
Feb 21, 2019 7:03 PM - Bill Smith: This Co. Is A Joke

Feb 22, 2019 5:14 AM - Geof: Hi Bill Smith, The R1 series from what I understand is discontinued. The forum is not Robo 3D employees, just users like you. We are happy to help, there are a few threads in the R1 section about thermistors for the R1 series hexagon.
Feb 22, 2019 5:15 AM - Geof: To get a hold of Robo directly you have to email them from their contact us on their website. Hope thats helpful in anyway and feel free to fire up a troubleshooting or general questions thread and us users will be happy to help you out

Mar 21, 2019 5:44 AM - Geof: any 24V hexagon hotend will work. The thermistor will need adjusted in the firmware if its different and a connector put on the new heater/thermistor to be able to plug in to the robo specific downtown board
Mar 21, 2019 10:01 AM - mark tomlinson: Some of the kits from Amazon include disconnect/connectors.
Mar 21, 2019 10:02 AM - mark tomlinson: but you will need to use the R2 specific ones...
Mar 21, 2019 10:26 AM - mark tomlinson: New Side Business. Buy Hexagons in bulk and pre-make the connectors for R2/C2 :)
Mar 21, 2019 10:27 AM - mark tomlinson: LOL, and make sure thermistor is same type (that is not a big deal, most of them are same Marlin type)
Mar 21, 2019 12:58 PM - Geof: LOL! Mark! You'd sell enough of them to...I'd say get a tesla but I think you've beat me to it ;)
Mar 21, 2019 1:56 PM - mark tomlinson: Can always use another one ;)
Mar 21, 2019 3:46 PM - Geof: Bahahahhahahaha. Buying quantity would likely be really cheap

Apr 2, 2019 10:38 AM - teknoprep: awhile back i was working with a software update that works with mesh auto level on the Robo r1+
Apr 2, 2019 10:38 AM - teknoprep: anyone know where that is again
Apr 2, 2019 10:44 AM - Geof: this one? Mods and upgrades section. http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/marlin-2-0-x-release-for-robo-r1.22898/

Apr 2, 2019 12:13 PM - Geof: no idea on the 2nd part. Havent updated mesh on my machines since nov 2015. May want to start a troubleshooting thread to get those answers.
Apr 2, 2019 12:13 PM - Geof: As far as the arduino board you have a mega 2560
Apr 2, 2019 12:13 PM - Geof: assuming you haven't changed from stock.
Apr 2, 2019 12:18 PM - teknoprep: this new version is great
Apr 2, 2019 12:18 PM - teknoprep: i had to use 1.9.0 beta to compile it
