The Octoprint Remote app is not needed if all you want to do is watch the progress of the print job.

Load the VLC app on your phone.

Go to the R2 ( or C2 ) LCD screen and get the IP address for the printer ( Utilities -> Network -> Network status )

Log into Octoprint and enable the video stream. ( System -> start video stream )

Start up VLC on your phone. Tap the three bar icon in the upper left of the screen and select Stream from the menu

For the network address box, enter http://<printer IP address>/webcam/?action=stream

And watch to your heart's content!

One Gotcha to be aware of:

VLC app on Android has a nasty tendency to insert a "space" between the '? ' and the word 'action' when you input the URL. It is easy to delete, but will prevent the URL from working properly.
