I purchased my R2 last August and the touchscreen has never been very responsive. Sometimes I have to touch is 10 plus times to get it to response. Is this the same experience others are having?

It is not as sensitive by design (they are cheaper too) as you might expect from other style touchscreens.

In my own personal experience I have found that the screen can be less than responsive. Please note that the technology used for these screens is not like a smartphone, it will never react like those screens (resistive vs capacitance). One thing that helps, make sure your screen is really clean, I keep a dry 1" soft bristle paint brush that I use to remove all the dust and stray particles of filament that seem to collect on the screen.

I find using the stylus is more responsive.

Mine went totally non-responsive once. Robo support suggested that I remove and re-seat the LCD ribbon cable that plugs into the Raspberry Pi, and fortunately, that worked on the first try.

Yes, they have had issues where a section of the plastic frame ends up touching the screen and with that screen it will stop accepting other touches :) Removing it and reinserting it is a good idea, it is just a pain. The C2 is much easier, but the mounting is different for the larger one in the R2 which makes it a more involved process to remove.

It sucks lol. You have to be very careful not to damage anything. There is a thread where I took a bunch of pictures. Its not a walk through, more of a "look at this headache". I will say my touchscreen acted much similar as yours, when it finally died I replaced it with one from Amazon (I think?) and its been much more .... friendly.

Sun Founder no longer has the 5 inch display ... One of the others will almost certainly work -- worst case you might have to install a new driver on the Raspbian image the Pi is running.

thank you sir, I will take a look at what you sent me and see if it will work. Extremely frustrating I just got it (barely used according to seller). The touch screen is not functioning at all.

I am completely new to this tech world. Do you know if the "Ribbon" would connect to the new touch screen?

The SunFounder ones -- yes it was compatible.
These WaveShare ones will use different drivers and the Video is via the HDMI with the touchscreen data via the USB.

The C2 only used the ribbon cable for video and touchscreen.
I am not certain on the R2 one of the R2 owners can speak up: @tkoco @WheresWaldo @Geof
