When replacing the lead screws do you have to get a new motor?

    I wanted to fix my schools printer and the lead screw literally bobs back and forth

    Leadscrews are mechanically attached to the shaft of the motor. It is an integral part.

    Threaded rods are attached with a coupler and that is the part you really want to eliminate.

    effectively the "leadscrew" is a motor with an integrated threaded rod...

    If yours has the couplers you might just check the coupler and make sure the rod is seated correctly and the screws are tight.
