Hey everyone, I have been playing around with Cura 5 and my Robo3D R2. First impressions were rough as I had to install a few plugins to get it to work and enable octoprint. After I had that installed and dialed in the settings since no profile for the Robo R3 exists… it does work with the R1 though. I did my first slice of something I had printed many times. While duplicating settings between old Cura and Cura 5, I printed the items 20% faster and quality was great. I have used PLA and PETG with the new slicer and have had great results.

Now using the experimental features like adaptive layers and coasting, I save 30% on time.

Has anyone else tried Cura 5?

Can you share your printer settings? Im trying to use Cura5 and it seems to be having issues, I tried using the R1 Profile and setting it up to be more inline with R2 but that isnt working.

Don't set up like a R1, do a custom FFF printer and plug in these settings.

Have you tried "Arc Welder" yet? For models which have a lot of curves, it can cut the print time even further.

Yeah I pretty much use it on every print now, it’s revolutionary!

The moon city model went from 38 hours to print to 24 hours to print thanks to the Arc Welder option.

Arc Welder is a plugin for Cura. Go to the Marketplace and search for Arc.

I installed arc welder. To be fair I have minimized curved surfaces in my designs to give me better finishes. A part that has 4 small curved surfaces. went from 6 hrs 6 min to 5hrs 59 min. I did not see an enable for arc welder after install.

The amount of time saved will depend on the model. A model with lots of curved surfaces (like an organic vase) will benefit from arc welder. A model which is mostly a rectangle like a phone case, will not see much time saved.
