Can the Pi be upgraded to the 4? I assume it can but don't know if there are going to be any issues doing so.

I believe that the issue is that the original Robo OS was based on an older 32 bit Raspberry OS which is not compatible with the CPU on the PI 4. When the Pi 4 came out, they had to issue a newer version of Raspberry OS (which happens to be backwards compatible with the Pi 3).

Also the voltage levels are different. The analog/digital will not tolerate the 5v inputs. I was worked out the hardware change to a Partsbuilt board, but still could not get the OS working.

Confused boards, forget about this post

It can work, but given the cost increases I would not buy new Pi 4 boards to use for the printer.
There are a few issues that work to prevent it from being a drop-in replacement.
