I decided to finally post my printer here. So far I have installed new fans, added white LED's, installed E3D V6 and am in the process of finishing up my bowden setup. I only have pics of the bowden setup right now. I will add more later. Don't mind the messy wiring. I was up til 3am installing it so I haven't cleaned that up yet.

Basically starting over. I am no longer running the bowden setup. I was having to many binding issues with the PTFE tube. My latest upgrade was to linear rods. No more coupler anymore. I bought these http://www.amazon.com/SainSmart-Screw-Stepper-Printer-RepRap/dp/B00JTSEFQY They ended up being a couple inches shorter than stock. With the help of Mike Kelly a lead nut adapter fixed that issue though. It was a hell of journey installing them. Well here are my pics finally of my printer upgrades. I need to print new fan mounts. Current ones look like crap. The pics of the parts are after I installed the new linear rods.

It took a while to get there but this thing is printing beautifully now. That cube was at .3 height and with a .6 nozzle as well.

Got a new desk and installed expandable cable for the wires. Looks much cleaner.

Freaked me out when I saw the purple... I was like... well that took a lot of effort! Is this one of the Beta units? Did something happen to it? All these different parts makes me think something broke.

Nope nothing broke. It's a new robo with autolevel. It's only a few months old. I wanted to get the best possible prints from this baby. Had z ribbing that i couldn't fix without printing a solid coupler. So i figured I would go ahead and upgrade the entire threaded rod and not have to worry about a coupler anymore

That makes me wonder about my RoBo 3d. The Z threaded rod just kind of flops about. Its not stiff at all. I wondered if that would cause any problems. The carriage doesn't seem to be affected by it.

No. It is fine. It only moves the carriage up/down. If the smooth rods are firmly in place you are fine.

Can't hurt to try them out.

Herringbone gears translate no forces along the axis of rotation. Put another way they self center to each other. Only other advantage is that you can dial in the delta between the gears to minimize any backlash.

Herringbones also have very minimal backlash

Couple new changes. Next on my list is to make 1 connector for the heater cartridge, thermistor, hot end fan and parts fans. I will post those pics when it's finished.

I like the spool holder idea, and the storage rack thing. Did you build that or buy it?

It came with this desk/workbench. The whole thing was like $150 at homegoods. It's awesome.

Had not thought about mounting a web cam like that. Excellent.
