    Apr 17, 2015 at 5:06 AM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/eZVWxLJ
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:07 AM - jbigler1986: new dual fan mount. thanks to MK on that
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:10 AM - Bill Monroe: not terribly complicated.. it's a phone case. not meant to be used, just an industrial design assignment. but it looks like it's all surfaces
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: maybe meshmixer has some tool that might allow it to be filled in?
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:19 AM - JeffTheMess: Good morning Robonauts
    Apr 17, 2015 at 5:21 AM - jbigler1986: morning. did you try s3d?
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:22 AM - JeffTheMess: I installed it and it worked as far as the software, i didn't get a chance to plug it in my robo but will do that today
    Apr 17, 2015 at 5:22 AM - jbigler1986: awesome
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:22 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, S3D cant see some of the surfaces.. dont know meshmixer.
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: do the bearing in the carriage need to be linear or could i use like skateboard bearings?
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: they need to be linea
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:23 AM - Bill Monroe: linear

Apr 17, 2015 at 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: jb, do you have an ultrasonic cleaner?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 5:36 AM - jbigler1986: i do not. why
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:37 AM - jbigler1986: damn. 1 bussiness day. need them from somewhere else
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: no biggie. those chinese LM8UU untis that all the consumer machine use are notorius for being made in poor conditions. it's a crap shoot on getting ones that are clean. when I get them I run them in my ultrasonc cleaner with paint thinner, then denatured alcohol to flush them, then in 5W mineral oil to lube them.. makes them run like butter
Apr 17, 2015 at 5:39 AM - JeffTheMess: freaking China

Apr 17, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: i have a pilot freind that flew right-seat for southworst airlines.. 26K/year. went to China to fly for a similar sized airline and the same planes.. 121K/yr with paid medical and school for his kids

Apr 17, 2015 at 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: jb, ealry machines had these carriages that used small ball bearings but the design was totally different

    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: something like that
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:11 AM - JeffTheMess: looks good
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:11 AM - jbigler1986: probably going to turn the actual holder around 180 so it keeps the cables even more out of the way
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: gotta make sure i have enough clearance for the extruder though
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:16 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i think .2 i think is the clearance ?

    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:18 AM - JeffTheMess: morning
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:20 AM - JasonSolves: I have bee trying to print a quadcopter
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:20 AM - JasonSolves: anyone have any luck with that.
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:20 AM - JeffTheMess: you and me are in the same boat im printing a 20 in long quad
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: what are you having issues with
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:21 AM - JasonSolves: I seem to have an issue with large items that have a lot of touching the base
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:21 AM - jbigler1986: warping?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:21 AM - JasonSolves: meaning the 1st layer comes up a little
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:21 AM - JeffTheMess: what are you printing with?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:21 AM - JasonSolves: and the head grabs it
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:21 AM - JasonSolves: PLA
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:22 AM - JeffTheMess: what are you using for adhesive
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:22 AM - JasonSolves: Aquanet
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:22 AM - JasonSolves: it has been working
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: so it's not adhearing?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:22 AM - JasonSolves: I do notice with this new heated bed
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: do you have a picture of your first layer?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: once the heat turns off (after the print) the print is almost elased
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: released
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: it might be a tad high
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: I always think that too
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: but I have been lowering it
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah while print my quad I had it at about 50-60
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: yeah my bed is @ 55
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:23 AM - JasonSolves: which one are you printing?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: have you tried printing with a brim?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - JeffTheMess: brim is great
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: Slice it smaller then glue, works great
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - JasonSolves: yeah, I had being using brim
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - JeffTheMess: 2mm of it
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - jbigler1986: my bed is at 45 for pla and aquanet. never had a part come loose
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:24 AM - JasonSolves: I will lower the temp,
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: do you have a picture of your first layer
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:25 AM - JasonSolves: The issue is that this print has a lot of "air holes" for venting
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:25 AM - JasonSolves: I am looking JBIG
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:25 AM - Mike Glass: You really dont need heat with pla, you could use painters tape for best adhesion
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:25 AM - JasonSolves: If not I will shortly
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:25 AM - JeffTheMess: you gotta play with it as you see for jb 45 works best, for me it was 60
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Mike Glass: 60 is what I always use
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:26 AM - JasonSolves: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:261145
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:26 AM - JeffTheMess: yea pla doesnt need heated bed
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:26 AM - JasonSolves: When I use the brim, it takes a lot of work to clean out the holes
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:27 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah, i had that issue too, but its worth it for sticking that first layer
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Mike Glass: Use Painters tape for long objects though it will save your print
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:28 AM - JasonSolves: yeah, I used to use that, will try again
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:28 AM - JasonSolves: also oddly, my front right side of my prints warp

Apr 17, 2015 at 8:29 AM - Mike Glass: take a temp laser and look a the bed heat
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:29 AM - JeffTheMess: you have autolevel?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:30 AM - JasonSolves: yes
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:32 AM - JasonSolves: Trying now,
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:32 AM - JasonSolves: I am printing http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:408363
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:32 AM - JasonSolves: I got mixed up for a minute
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:33 AM - JasonSolves: I printed 2 arms and the two plates already
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:33 AM - JasonSolves: I am printing two more arms, in yellow
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:33 AM - JasonSolves: then I will try and print the base!
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:34 AM - JeffTheMess: if it warps, snap a pic of it
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:34 AM - JasonSolves: I will have a photo of the 1st layer in 6 minutes
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:34 AM - JeffTheMess: good
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:34 AM - JasonSolves: I turned on brim and off the bed just to try
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:36 AM - JeffTheMess: i think aquanet works best with heat, i may be wrong
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:36 AM - JeffTheMess: makes it more sticky
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:37 AM - JasonSolves: yeah I agree, the brim did not stick
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:39 AM - JeffTheMess: how many layers of brim you using
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:49 AM - JasonSolves: ok, so heated it back to 55
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:49 AM - JasonSolves: and lowered the head a little .05mm
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:50 AM - JasonSolves: and ofcourse when I start talking about it
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:50 AM - JasonSolves: it works......
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:51 AM - JasonSolves: The arm is only about 60 minutes to print, so we shall see
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:51 AM - JeffTheMess: you got live feed?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:52 AM - JasonSolves: I wish
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:52 AM - JasonSolves: I use Cura so
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:52 AM - JasonSolves: I cannot pause or do live feed
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:53 AM - JasonSolves: I have a meeting for the next few hours, but I will come back and update
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:53 AM - JeffTheMess: cool
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:53 AM - JasonSolves: Did anyone see the blog/video robo just put out yestraday?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:54 AM - JasonSolves: yesterday
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:54 AM - JasonSolves: <----- need more caffeine
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:55 AM - JasonSolves: I soldered my other quad back together yesterday too, proud of myself...
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:56 AM - JeffTheMess: you printed that one too?
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:57 AM - JasonSolves: no.... bought from china
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:57 AM - JasonSolves: but is is super fun
Apr 17, 2015 at 8:58 AM - JasonSolves: getting FPV next....
    Apr 17, 2015 at 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: i love to solder
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:00 AM - JasonSolves: wire to wire is hard for me
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:00 AM - jbigler1986: use to solder stuff to tiny tiny points on motherboards
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:00 AM - JasonSolves: wire to board it better
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:00 AM - JasonSolves: I am better at that I mean
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:01 AM - JasonSolves: My dad has a cable and PCB assemlby business
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:01 AM - jbigler1986: wire to wire you can simply twist together then solder. very easy
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:01 AM - JasonSolves: so If I get to bad I ask them
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:01 AM - JasonSolves: I am getting better
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:02 AM - jbigler1986: flux flux flux
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:03 AM - JeffTheMess: flux that b*tch up
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:03 AM - JeffTheMess: afternoon Mike K
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: morning mike. even though it's afternoon here
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i needed some extra sleep
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:06 AM - jbigler1986: installed your dual fan. did you see the pic
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: yup just saw it
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm thinking i'll design some sort of flow duct
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:07 AM - jbigler1986: that would be awesome. it fits perfectly though. so should be easy to make edits of of it
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:08 AM - jbigler1986: i'm making edits to the carriage. nothing that will effect it though
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:09 AM - Mike Kelly: what are you thinking?
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:10 AM - jbigler1986: cable holder for 1. possibly a connector case for when I wire up that connector
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:12 AM - jbigler1986: https://www.dropbox.com/s/upie68bzvkdwyq1/stunning_robo-sango.stl?dl=0 Just a rough mock up. Gives you an idea of the cable holder although i'm going to turn it 180 so it keeps the cables away more
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: gotcha gotcha
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: i like that carriage too since the x switch isn't on the carriage
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: that is so annoying
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: i prefer it
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: so i don't have any wires on the idler
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: Howdy Mike K.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: heya Mike G.
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm considering designing a router planer jig
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:56 AM - Mike Glass: hmm what does that look like?
Apr 17, 2015 at 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: Does anybody have the new carriage for the robo in SW format?
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:00 AM - jbigler1986: you like the switch on the carriage?
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: is it with MK full robo file?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: http://home.asparagine.net/ant/bloguploads/18_routerplane.jpg
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: something like that
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: yes i like the switch on the carriage, means only one wire bundle since i don't use the stock autolevel setup
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: new carriage?
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:04 AM - jbigler1986: the one with the the switch on it is what he is asking for i think
    Apr 17, 2015 at 10:05 AM - Mike Kelly: i think that's a secondary piece
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: i tried getting that part file but according to matt they're not doing that anymore? i can never tell with them
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:06 AM - jbigler1986: it has the little piece where you insert the bolt removed
    Apr 17, 2015 at 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: that's odd
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: did you say you like the switch on the carriage?
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Glass: lol geez, ok.
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i did say that
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: I like it too
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: i knew i wasn't totally crazy when i suggested that yesterday
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: what did you suggest?
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Mike Glass: still think your crazy ^
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Stephen Capistron: the router planer
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:40 AM - Mike Glass: aww I see what you saying.
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: oh yeah no you were dead on
    Apr 17, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: i like his
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i've had a few other places suggest that as well
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: i was thinking more of the pic MK posted
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's the video i watched yesterday
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: that line kills me "it's kinda like a CNC except nothing like it"
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Stephen Capistron: one other woodworking tip i can share for the day, playing cards make great shims
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm good call
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to buy some mdf

Apr 17, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't like the idea of using hot glue though
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: i need to find one with clamps
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Stephen Capistron: Well you could clamp that one
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: two clamps on the near side, when you get down there, flip the clamps to the planed side
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:48 AM - Stephen Capistron: If you have plenty of length you could always just counterbore / sink some screws in each end
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Stephen Capistron: and cut it off as scrap
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: just make sure you get those screws way down
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Stephen Capistron: otherwise your bit and router will not be happy campers
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: i bought some stuff from these guys a long while ago
    Apr 17, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.mlcswoodworking.com/
Apr 17, 2015 at 10:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: their prices used to be pretty good, can't speak for them now as i haven't purchased anything in years
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.amazon.com/MLCS-8377-15-...F8&qid=1429293856&sr=8-2&keywords=router+bits i've got this kit at my uncles suggestion
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Mike Glass: 1/2 inch, what router do you have?
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: figures they are on amazon now.
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: mine came with collets for 1/4 and 1/2
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: i think it is pretty common now
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:08 AM - Mike Glass: I need a plunge router, need one for keyholing
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:08 AM - JeffTheMess: this looks fun http://www.instructables.com/id/Making-Custom-Lenses/
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: This guy is talented
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:39 AM - Mike Kelly: I have a 2-1/4 hp porter cable with plunge. Same as Stephen came with half and quarter
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:43 AM - Mike Kelly: those look CNC cut not 3d printed
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i know
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Glass: Might have to add that to my cnc projects.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: make a fender
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: ?
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:50 AM - Mike Kelly: the lenses i think he means
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Glass: No I will 3d print the fenders..lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:51 AM - Mike Kelly: get the robo mega
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:53 AM - JeffTheMess: how much will the mega be?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i think they said 10k
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Kelly: i don't recall
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Stephen Capistron: ouch
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:54 AM - JeffTheMess: wow
    Apr 17, 2015 at 11:57 AM - Mike Glass: for $17K http://3dpunlimited.com/features/
Apr 17, 2015 at 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: Just get the Shaper 3D printer. lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:00 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Gat dang it. I can NOT fix this stupid clog.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: did you season
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:01 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I tried, but it just will not even feed. Every time I make an attempt to feed the filament, it either just sits there and grinds, OR it comes popping out of the side for some reason,.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:01 PM - jbigler1986: when i told her to post her printer on the forum i though she had a robo that she was posting
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Kelly: do i by hand
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I have. I chopped a good 10" of filament off to do it.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: is your fan running
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: It just sits there. Even manually turning the extruder motor.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: push it with your hand, not with the hobbed bolt
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: It is, but, it is extremely loose. I couldn't figure out how to attach the replacement fan they sent to me.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: you may have a broken piece of filament on there, pop off the extruder
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: the hot end that is
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How would I go about removing the extruder?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: hot end*
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - Mike Kelly: there's 2 screws that hold it in
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:03 PM - JeffTheMess: try higher temps in the nozzle
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:04 PM - jbigler1986: that's what i gotta do when i get home. i snapped my filament at the top of the ptfe tube installing the mount this morning. damnit
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:05 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Is it the two screws that are spring-loaded?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: no. it's on the side
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: that's just a guess though
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: so you might be wasting your time if it's not actually a piece blocking it
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: if you are looking at the front they are on the left side of the carriage
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:06 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Hey, its worth a shot.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:06 PM - jbigler1986: remove those 2 spring loaded screws and look and see if you see filament in the filament hole
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: use a flashlight as well
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:06 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Because I keep feeding it in, and hand-turning the bolt, and it grinds almost immediately.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:07 PM - JeffTheMess: hubble bolt too tight
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Stephen Capistron: when loaded properly you should be able to push the filament through the extruder by hand, no gear turning
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i don't like the way they suggest feeding it
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:07 PM - Mike Kelly: putting it in my hand gives you more feel so it doesn't get caught on the shoulder of the hexagon
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:09 PM - Stephen Capistron: i cut mine on a sharp angle to help
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:10 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I guess it would help if this dang replacement fan shroud would fit properl.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:10 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I have already melted my replacement.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Glass: seems he hasnt removed the two spring screws, I would start with that and make sure a piece of filament is not sitck out of the hole first.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: there's one that screws in that's much better
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:11 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Where does it screw in to?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:11 PM - Mike Kelly: uses the two screws that holes the greg's wade extruder in place
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:11 PM - WayUpNorthMN: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:436927/#collections
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:11 PM - WayUpNorthMN: This one?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: that one's ok
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:720018 you can use this one instead
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: though you don't need to use dual fans unless you want to
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:12 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I sure would love to print one...
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:12 PM - Mike Kelly: just get some zip ties lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: how did you melt your replacement?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:14 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Apparently the heat sink got hot enough. I dont know anymore.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: does your hotend fan work? it should not get that hot
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:17 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Thats the replacement. I have tried attaching http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:436927/#collections, but it just lies there. It doesn't attach to anything. Do I need to glue it on or something?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: you use the screw to secure it
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:21 PM - jbigler1986: there are 2 bolts holding the extruder on. remove the one in the back and then attach that mount using the screw you just removed
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:21 PM - Mike Glass: hot glue might work:)
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: wouldn't sit very well with that screw poking it
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: gorilla glue is better
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: Gorilla this.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:26 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder where he went
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:27 PM - JeffTheMess: he said screw you guys
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I did not.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:27 PM - JeffTheMess: lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:28 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am just taking a break before I end up getting too frustrated and messing something up.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:28 PM - Mike Kelly: always a good plan
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:29 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am just gonna take the whole top housing off.

Apr 17, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Stephen Capistron: i haven't had my top on in weeks
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: do you think i could machine a 8mm OD 6mm ID bushing
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: from?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: stainless probably
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Mike Kelly: that's only 1mm of wall thickness
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:33 PM - Wikid: easy
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So, it's preheated to 210. I have about a foot of filament cut off, I am pushing it all the way down until it stops, and hand-turn the bolt, and it feeds a few mm, then grinds.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: why are you turning the bolt
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Mike Kelly: are you able to push it out by hand?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - jbigler1986: stop turning it
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Stephen Capistron: what is it for?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Mike Glass: heat that sucka to 240
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:34 PM - Stephen Capistron: http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-sleeve-bearings/=wsmevr
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: It just stops. I can't manually extrude it.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: why can't you push it out?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: how far in is it going?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: does anything come out the tip by hand?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: the bondtech v2 uses a 8mm drive shaft geared stepper but i already have two 6mm
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Mike Glass: unscrew the hob screws and check, its probably clogged.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah remove the tensionsing screws
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: ah, so you really need a shaft adapter
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: and just do it by hand, don't even touch the gear
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: As in the two screws that are spring loaded?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:36 PM - Mike Kelly: yes
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: do you already have stock to work with and are you going to be using the tried and true cordless drill lathe?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: i assume we have some stock at work i can pilfer
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Kelly: and run it on a lathe
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: oh a real lathe, piece of cake then
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Mike Glass: I could probably do it on my cordless drill lathe..lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:39 PM - jbigler1986: you may have a jam at the heat break
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Stephen Capistron: you finally getting a bondtech?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:39 PM - Mike Kelly: eventually
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: when they go on sale
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: or just gearing up?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Kelly: gearing up
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:40 PM - Mike Glass: do you think it is something that could be milled out on a cnc?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: what the bondtech?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Glass: yes
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:41 PM - Mike Kelly: i mean maybe, it's pretty intricate
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:42 PM - jbigler1986: i just dealt with a jam at my heat break last week. the only way i got it cleared was to disassemble mt hotend. left the nozzle, heat block and heat break attached. left the heat sink off. heated it up to 230 then used tweezers to get at the jam and pull it out.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if there are any plans out htere
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: could just get an urchin right now though
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:42 PM - Mike Kelly: not to my knowledge
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd need to see some reviews of that thing
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:43 PM - jbigler1986: if you can find a small enough drill bit or something stiff you may be able to get it loose coming in from the nozzle and going up
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: if a jam in the heat break is your issue. remove the 2 spring loaded screws and look in the filament hole first
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:45 PM - Mike Kelly: crap i lost track of time, guess i should go back to work
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: removing the 2 spring loaded screws is step 1 after you get a jam and stop the printer
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: haha Mike, naw just stay home for the day im sure it's ok
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Kelly: i already skipped 2 hours this morning...
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:46 PM - Mike Glass: tell them your sick(of work)
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:47 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I guess it doesnt help that I am using black filament
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: $450 to update my cnc software, but would be able to import stl's..hmm
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Kelly: which software
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: LHR Software its just for the Carvewright machines
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: if you don't see filament in the filament hole then you need to drop your hotend by removing the 2 screws holding it in place
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - WayUpNorthMN: It wont even extrude by hand.
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: what temp
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: is your hot end fan running?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - WayUpNorthMN: 210
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: how hot is the heatsink
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Glass: turn it the hell up
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Kelly: turn it up to 240
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Glass: 240c
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Stephen Capistron: let it go to 11
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:50 PM - WayUpNorthMN: But once it gets there, it drops it back down
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Glass: said that an hour ago
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: 238 then
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Kelly: also update your firmware: http://help.robo3dprinter.com/Wiki/RoBo_3D_Firmware
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:50 PM - jbigler1986: as high as it will go
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Glass: yea old firmware im sure
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Mike Kelly: stephen et all: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3woazo3m9w2wu1c/btv2.PNG?dl=0
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Mike Glass: But MC said i was up to date..lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Mike Glass: That is Sick Mike
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: looks like it will do wheelies
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: lol. looks heavy
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: although current one is heavy too
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Stephen Capistron: is there room for two?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:55 PM - jbigler1986: need a thread saying not to update firmware via MC
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So a firmware update would help with getting this filament to melt through?
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: MG can you get me a pic of the autolevel switch and the adapter it's attached to
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:56 PM - jbigler1986: @way it may help
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:57 PM - Mike Glass: The switch on the carriage?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i don't think 2 is possible
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:57 PM - jbigler1986: no. the autolevel one on the z
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah way a firmware update will allow you to increase the max temp so you can push it through at a higher temperature
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:58 PM - Mike Kelly: which may clear any clog that's in there
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: ^^
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: err the ones on the z axis
    Apr 17, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 17, 2015 at 12:59 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I think I see filament in there. It is an extremely akward angle though.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:00 PM - jbigler1986: can you grab it with pliers?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:01 PM - WayUpNorthMN: no way. not in that microscopic hole.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Kelly: pop off the nozzle then
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I took the tensioner off, and it is just the hole. I Try inserting filament in, and it stops at about 1 inch in.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: the weight balance definitely concerns me
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: yep. drop the nozzle
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i think it's time we remove the nozzle
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Okay, how would I go about doing that?

Apr 17, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Stephen Capistron: so make a wider carriage and put two on there
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I think I see a small amount of filament down that hole.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: i might bias the cyclops a bit more towards the belt side but that's just kind of a can of worms
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: and lose build volume? pass
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: well if you can't pull it out then you will need to drop the nozzle to get to it
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/VLjpCHc.jpg
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:04 PM - Mike Kelly: remove those two screws
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: yours might be hex instead of philips FYI
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Stephen Capistron: think of how slow you'd have to print with all that mass too
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...-wires-getting-extremely-hot.5161/#post-44965 *blink blink*
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i like this design because it's modular without taking up too much space
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:08 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd pretty much only use it when printing flex
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:08 PM - jbigler1986: why the heck is he using jst connectors
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Glass: He is not using it for the bed, read the last line
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: no he is
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:09 PM - Mike Kelly: he said "they work fine on the extruder" so he's using it for the bed
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:10 PM - Mike Kelly: good thing he didn't burn his house down
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:10 PM - jbigler1986: agreed
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:10 PM - Mike Glass: oh got new bed from robo
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Glass: another on bites the dust
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: i can't wait to get my video robo, would have solved way's issue in like 2 minutesa
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:14 PM - Mike Glass: Video robo?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: the stock one
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:15 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm using it to make instructional videos
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:15 PM - jbigler1986: finally
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:15 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am guessing I should wait for it not to be MOLTEN F**KING HOT to take it out huh??
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:16 PM - WayUpNorthMN: WOW, that was so STUPID of me!
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i suppose we should have included that warning, hope you didn't get burnt too bad
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: happens. i usually grab it by the hotend fan in that case
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i have more than my share of burns from my robo
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:16 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Nah, just my finger tip a bit lol
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: but yeah hope u are ok
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - WayUpNorthMN: That's what happens when you get frustrated, I kind of deserved ot/
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: i've got a nice scar from where i brushed against my cyclops heater
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: i totally know that feeling
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: best part about burns on your fingers
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - jbigler1986: just grab it by the fan next time
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: great excuse for an ice cold beer
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - Mike Kelly: he's 19 lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:17 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Well, I got it out anyway, so we have tha.t.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Kelly: We do not condone underage drinking
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:18 PM - jbigler1986: is there filament sticking out from the heat sink
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Mike Kelly: (or something)
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:18 PM - Stephen Capistron: and your point ...
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:19 PM - Mike Kelly: just go up to canada then you can drink ;)
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:20 PM - WayUpNorthMN: WOW
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:20 PM - jbigler1986: ?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:20 PM - Mike Kelly: such wow, much suspense
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: northern MN isn't canada?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:22 PM - WayUpNorthMN: hold on, getting a picture of this craziness.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: who knew

Apr 17, 2015 at 1:26 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Lol, its just filled.
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: also good
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: use a flat head screw driver to remove the brass insert
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:28 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Would an E3D be pretty easy to install?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:28 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: crank up the heat and use tweezers or something to try and grab a hold of the filament
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:29 PM - jbigler1986: then grab it with pliers and try to pull it out
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:30 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So would that be my problem? lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:30 PM - Mike Kelly: is it just me or is the shoutbox not updating
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:31 PM - Mike Kelly: that would be your problem
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So would 100 be enough?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: NO
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: BEcause I dont want to kill my hands again
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: hold it with pliers / channel locks
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: use pliers to hold onto the heat sink
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: vise grips
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Mike Kelly: or helping hands
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Stephen Capistron: if it wasn't stainless could use a strong magnetic field
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: it's aluminum
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:33 PM - jbigler1986: oveglove for the win. lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: just be quick about it because the heatsink will start to get hot
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: is the break stainless?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:36 PM - Stephen Capistron: you can tell how often i have mine out
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:37 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah break is a stainless tube
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am keeping a lcose eye on temps
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:38 PM - jbigler1986: for?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Man, that is really in there.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I think I might be sol
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: you can drill it out
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: i hate 2d work in creo
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Eh, I was planning on getting the E3D anyway.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:41 PM - jbigler1986: that's what i did when i screwed up my hotend
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:42 PM - Mike Kelly: it's possible to clean out just takes some effort
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:42 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Man o man
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:43 PM - jbigler1986: just be careful drilling it out is all. can be done
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:43 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd use a 1.5mm allen wrench and push it out
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: might be jammed in the heat break though
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: that's how mine was
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: also true
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:45 PM - Mike Kelly: popping off the heater block isn't a bad idea
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: yeah and that when the boot gets to be a pain

Apr 17, 2015 at 1:51 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Just unscrew the sink?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:51 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am guessing that really thin piece is monumentally fragile?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah you should have gotten a 4.5mm wrench in your tool kiy
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: Yes it is. Don't put any torque on the tube portion
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: Grab the nozzle and the flats on the heat break to loosen it
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:53 PM - jbigler1986: be careful because the therimstor wire is fragile
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Well, Ive been lucky thus far, because this is my first clog in 4 months
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:55 PM - jbigler1986: that's really good
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:56 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Does the E3D come with a fan shroud assembly for the extruder?
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:56 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Fan mount* for the heat sink*
Apr 17, 2015 at 1:59 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Now its just a matter of getting this stupid rubber piece iff,
    Apr 17, 2015 at 1:59 PM - WayUpNorthMN: off
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:02 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's got a fan shroud
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:03 PM - Mike Kelly: the e3dv6 is a great upgrade, especially if you want to print with flexibles
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:07 PM - WayUpNorthMN: f**k, the thermister popped out.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:08 PM - Mike Kelly: that's ok
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:08 PM - Mike Glass: it just sits in there
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:09 PM - Mike Kelly: it's held in place by the boot
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:10 PM - Mike Kelly: my model has officially reached critical mass
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:12 PM - WayUpNorthMN: ...
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:12 PM - WayUpNorthMN: The heat sink wont unscrew.
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:12 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I just keep twisting it and it wont go anywhere
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: you're gripping the flats on the heat break and the nozzle?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:13 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yep
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:14 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Managed to get a pliers on the nozzle, and I am using my hand to gently untwist the sink
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:14 PM - Mike Kelly: http://i.imgur.com/foXDPd1.png
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:14 PM - Mike Kelly: don't twist the sink
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:14 PM - Mike Kelly: use the supplied 4.5mm wrench
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:17 PM - jbigler1986: Heat break is pressed into the heatsink I believe
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:18 PM - jbigler1986: Not separate like e3d
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:18 PM - Mike Kelly: it's held in with a set screw

    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:32 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Gawd, I can't find my 4.5
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:34 PM - TechSupportGo: I wonder if I can scale down and incorporate this on to my extruder with a separate air compressor and hose!!!
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:35 PM - TechSupportGo: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6848
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:36 PM - toy: i need filament and like 15 spools of it...
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:38 PM - Mike Kelly: way you can also use an adjustable wrench to grip the heater block and the nozzle
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:39 PM - toy: printed solid...doesnt carry generic pla filament?
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:39 PM - toy: or abs or hips?
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:41 PM - Mike Glass: That set screw does nothing on the hex, mine was halfway out.
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:41 PM - WayUpNorthMN: wait, I can grip onto the block?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:42 PM - jbigler1986: yes
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:43 PM - Mike Glass: Toy he as some uber cheap pla, but mostly high end filament.
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:44 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Its like welded on there
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:44 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How do I just get this hotend off? ALL THE WAY?
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:44 PM - Mike Kelly: it helps to have everything be hot
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:45 PM - jbigler1986: first remove the nozzle
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:45 PM - Mike Kelly: watch this in reverse
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:46 PM - Mike Glass: You have to break the glue off first
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:51 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I cant get it.
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:52 PM - Mike Glass: got a blow torch
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:52 PM - WayUpNorthMN: znope.
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:54 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Can I just get rid of this hot end already so I can put an E3D on?
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:54 PM - WayUpNorthMN: This is a lost cause
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:55 PM - Stephen Capistron: you have free will
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:55 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How would I just get it off?
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:57 PM - jbigler1986: the nozzle is really the only thing you need to take off while hot. everything else you can do cool
Apr 17, 2015 at 2:58 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I have practically stripped the heat break.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:58 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I am rotating it counter-clockwise
    Apr 17, 2015 at 2:59 PM - WayUpNorthMN: It doesn't budge even a degree.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:02 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I can't. I am trying not to complain. But I am using my absolute full force now to try to untwist the heat break. It is just doing nothing.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: is it heated up when you are doing this?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I cant. The thermister is out.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: well then your not going to get it off
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:07 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Is there an easy way to just detach the whole hotend assembly
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:08 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Just to get red of it?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: unclip it and put it in the mailbox addressed to me
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:09 PM - jbigler1986: lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: go get a very small m3 screw and hold the thermistor in place like e3dv6 does
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: i think it's m3 anyways
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: it's m3
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:12 PM - jbigler1986: m3 x 3
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Kelly: you'd need to drill/tap a hole for it though
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: an old m3 would be nice
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:13 PM - Mike Glass: BMW?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:13 PM - WayUpNorthMN: How do people do upgrades so easily? There is literally no instruction on how to install an E3D
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:14 PM - WayUpNorthMN: On the RoBo anyway.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Stephen Capistron: yeah, an old one, before they got big
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: JB, dont you have a guide?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: MK has a guide
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:15 PM - Mike Glass: oh yeah
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: i just gave him a few pics to add
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:16 PM - WayUpNorthMN: All I want to do is just get rid of this current hotend. Quick and easy.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: just disconnect the wires then
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:20 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Does the E3D have the quick connectors like the Hex? That would make a world of difference.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:21 PM - Printed Solid: you haven't seen Mike Kelly's thread?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:21 PM - Printed Solid: http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...ormation-installation-guides-and-review.3407/
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:21 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Which one?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:21 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Oh, thank you. :)
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:22 PM - Printed Solid: I stickied it a few days ago. if you need to find it again, it is stickied towards the top in mods and upgrades.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:22 PM - Printed Solid: NP
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Printed Solid: I stickied that, the LCD, and the enclosures. Not sure if there are any other really popular mods / upgrades on the current R1
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Printed Solid: Ziggy's ribbing thesis would be another good one. I'll try to dig it up.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: hola Printed
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:25 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Is the rubber boot essential with the E3D? Because it is pretty much mangled on my R1.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: there is no boot on the e3d
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:26 PM - WayUpNorthMN: K.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:26 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Its just for aesthetics?

Apr 17, 2015 at 3:27 PM - WayUpNorthMN: lol, sorry I have been a pain in the arse for you guys. Just for 4 months, i was so used to it being "Click and print", and now this happens.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:27 PM - jbigler1986: the picture you see there is what the e3d looks like when you install it. the boot on the robo is for insulation and to hold the thermistor in place
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:28 PM - jbigler1986: frankly the boot is a major pain in the ass when people have issues like yourself. mainly they break the thermistor usually
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:29 PM - jbigler1986: 5 hours to print this carriage, probably bump up FR to 120% so that will speed it up a little
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:30 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I guess I will have to use my dad's ultimaker 2 for now.... to get my fix... :)
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:30 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Ill have him come over and help me some time lol
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:30 PM - jbigler1986: e3d is very easy to fix jams and stuff because it comes apart easily
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Uncles*
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I have heard good things-a-plenty about the E3D
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: And it is worth the risque asking price?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:33 PM - Printed Solid: ya. I actually don't think I've ever had a complaint.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:33 PM - Printed Solid: FYI, they do have the new E3D lite, which is cheaper, but only for lower temp materials.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:33 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Lol, I might just bore a hole through this hotend and use it as a keychain charm to commemorate my first catastrophic mess-up.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:34 PM - Printed Solid: what happened?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:34 PM - WayUpNorthMN: IT had quite the clog, and I tried to get the dang heat break to unscrew from the block, and it bent a bit, so I said screw it and took the whole thing off.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:35 PM - Printed Solid: By the way, I'm getting ready to start a 21 hr print on my Ultimaker with woodfill. Tempting fate. Will use an entire spool.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:35 PM - Printed Solid: ah. If you're going for a full E3D V6, I can get it out tonite priority. Should be to you monday. Don't carry the light though.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:36 PM - toy: printed, do u have abs, hips, or any generic pla?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:36 PM - toy: i need around 16 spools
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Christ
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:36 PM - Printed Solid: I have these little 250g mini spools of generic PLA. If you want to buy a bunch, I can get you a deal.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:36 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Wait, you no longer sell 750s of PLA?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - Printed Solid: quality is around a B, but it works OK.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - toy: hmmm that might work, do u have diff colors
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - toy: its for my printing class
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - Printed Solid: I sell the 750g, but that's premium material. I think Toy is looking for cheap stuff.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: well shaxon is worse i'm sure and its great
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - toy: so it doesnt need to be premium
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: IS that the $40 stuff?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: $39*
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: what
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:38 PM - jbigler1986: shaxon?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:38 PM - Printed Solid: the $39 stuff is colorfabb.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:38 PM - Printed Solid: Toy, I'm busy tonite and headed to 3DPrint show tomorrow, but I can give you an accounting of colors on sunday. How many spools do you want?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Man, I just need to get off the computer for today.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - Printed Solid: lol
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - toy: roughly 16 x 1 kilogram
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - jbigler1986: got any samples of wood filament?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Alright, thank you guys so much for helping me. :) Now I know what to look for so I dont have to destroy another hotend
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:39 PM - Printed Solid: 64 spools. then. I'll count colors and give you a really good price.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:40 PM - toy: thx
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:40 PM - jbigler1986: or any exotic material i can try out for you printed?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:40 PM - Printed Solid: samples : https://www.printedsolid.com/shop/175-3/colorfabb-sample-pack/
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:41 PM - WayUpNorthMN: >inb4 bronzefill
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:41 PM - Printed Solid: also going to start doing taulman samples. I just need to make a machine to automate it. My current sample maker probably does not want me to be adding more variety
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:42 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Alright, gtg to work. Thanks again, guys.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:42 PM - toy: printed how about abs and hips?
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:42 PM - Printed Solid: nope. I've talked with a few extrusion houses locally, but I'm not sure I'll ever do they styrene materials.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:43 PM - Printed Solid: I might have my own PLA though.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 3:43 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:45 PM - Printed Solid: always fun to watch those. Check out this awesome iron man helmet: https://www.facebook.com/PrintedSolid
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:46 PM - Printed Solid: said to be polished entirely by hand, which is just mindboggling.
Apr 17, 2015 at 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: I will check it out. Gonna bump this up to 130 percent
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:00 PM - jbigler1986: When are you adding the rest of ur items? Curious to see what all you have
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:14 PM - Printed Solid: me? you mean the stuff where you say 'Do you have any of this?' and I say 'yeah, I have a big pile, but I haven't had a chance to place them in inventory?'
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:15 PM - Printed Solid: Other than spare parts, most of what I have is up. I do have another new taulman filament called blu-print, but I'm not going to list it until I've had a chance to test it.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:15 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Lol. You have pretty much had everything I have needed just not on your site
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:16 PM - Printed Solid: :)
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:16 PM - Printed Solid: sorry. I really need to get all those spare parts listed.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:16 PM - jbigler1986: I will test a tiny spool for ya :)
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:17 PM - Printed Solid: haha. I can actually send you a little sample, but I still won't list it until I've printed it myself.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:17 PM - jbigler1986: That would be awesome
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:17 PM - jbigler1986: Do you lease a small warehouse?
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Printed Solid: storage space.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Stephen Capistron: You should farm out the leg work on all the spare parts
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Printed Solid: I'm kind of a control freak on the site if you haven't noticed.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Stephen Capistron: just send one of each to JB and make him take a picture and write a short description
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:18 PM - Printed Solid: now that is an idea
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:19 PM - Printed Solid: it's really just the picture and I could just grab the ones E3D uses.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:19 PM - jbigler1986: I honestly wouldn't mind helping you out. I have built a few websites.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:19 PM - Printed Solid: Magnetic iron and stainless are coming in on wednesday.
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: that's pretty nutz
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:19 PM - Mike Kelly: can you polarize the magnetic iron to actually make it magnetic
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Printed Solid: You've probably noticed mine's wordpress. Harry set it up for me (same harry that built this site) but I want to tear it down and rebuild this year.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: is it actually iron or rare earths?
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Printed Solid: did you see that dioguardo on the facebook page did a video using it as a transformer?
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Printed Solid: iron
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Stephen Capistron: boooo
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - Printed Solid: I've got to think that rare earth would be near impossible to work with as a powder
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:20 PM - jbigler1986: I didn't do the graphics on the sites. I just layed them out and coded them. Kept them updated until I stopped getting paid for it
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: rare earth would be so much cooler
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:21 PM - Printed Solid: get on it then!
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: although the iron can be remagnetized
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: the rare earths i don't know enough about
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:22 PM - Printed Solid: Protoparadigm showed theirs being magnetized. Protopasta never has. I'm not sure if that means it cannot be done or they just haven't tried it.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:22 PM - jbigler1986: WordPress you can actually make pretty amazing sites out of
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:22 PM - Stephen Capistron: once it hits 220-250C whatever any magnetization you have likely goes caput
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:22 PM - Printed Solid: yeah. I think my first step will be to just rebuild mine in another theme from the ground up.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:22 PM - Mike Kelly: i've only ever seen it be attracted to a magnet, never magnetized to attract metal
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:22 PM - jbigler1986: I can email you some suggestions if you would like
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:23 PM - Printed Solid: Sure. I know the site has issues. Some of that is definitely limited by the theme. A lot of is is just what I've had time to mess around with.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:23 PM - jbigler1986: It can be very time consuming and tedious
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:25 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:569044 this is clever
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:25 PM - jbigler1986: I majored in Web design for a year before kids and life happened
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:26 PM - jbigler1986: I love php and html/xhtml
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:27 PM - jbigler1986: Which is weird bc I hate c++
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:28 PM - Printed Solid: nice
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:29 PM - Wikid: I like C++, used it quite a bit for building solidworks addons
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:29 PM - Printed Solid: I don't know Mike. seems just odd to me.

Apr 17, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Printed Solid: Did you guys look at the link to the Iron Man helmet?
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: one expensive helmet :p
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:32 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not sure how well that blower conversion would work but it's an interesting proof of concept
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:33 PM - jbigler1986: That fan is odd
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:33 PM - Printed Solid: ... probably quite a bit less than the real thing, although maybe a tad less funcitonal :)
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:33 PM - Printed Solid: I don't know. The engineering reviewer in me says that it pretty obviously won't work.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:33 PM - Printed Solid: There's a reason fans have different blade designs.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:35 PM - Printed Solid: I'm going to the 3DPrintShow in NY tomorrow. They will have a bunch of printed armor props on display including the iron patriot suit.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:35 PM - jbigler1986: That helmet is awesome. Says he polished it by hand?
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:35 PM - Printed Solid: ya. with nail polishers. I'm not sure what a nail polisher is. emery boards?
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: I believe so
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:36 PM - Printed Solid: it's a dutch translation of a latvian post, so who knows
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: I need to print you something so you can take to these shows to show what it's capable of with a little extra money into it
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:37 PM - Printed Solid: I agree. Doesn't need to be anything huge. I'll come up with something and send you some filament. Probably plain stuff though.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:37 PM - jbigler1986: MK how much is the engine going to cost in filament
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:38 PM - Printed Solid: My demo robo is quite good. Probably the best you can expect out of the box, but there is still a bit of ribbing. I won't fix it because I want people to get a realistic perspective.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:38 PM - jbigler1986: That's fine. I would print it for you without you sending filament. Depending on the color you want
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:39 PM - jbigler1986: You help me enough as I'm sure you will for a while so glad to help you out as well
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:39 PM - Bill Monroe: MATT!
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:40 PM - Bill Monroe: got the stuff, I'm going to try it tonight
    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:40 PM - jbigler1986: Lies Bill.
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:40 PM - Bill Monroe: aw.. you know me so well
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:41 PM - jbigler1986: You will be a) in the jacuzzi b) at the hanger
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:41 PM - Bill Monroe: well, the robo doesnt require me to stare at it

    Apr 17, 2015 at 4:44 PM - Mike Kelly: maybe 3/4

Apr 17, 2015 at 4:45 PM - jbigler1986: Not unless they just recently disabled it
Apr 17, 2015 at 4:47 PM - Printed Solid: OK. Yeah, We can toss a sticky up in troubleshooting. It would be handy to have the link there as well. Maybe also with some instructions on verifying thread pitch.

Apr 18, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: I printed some but the inside diameter was to small. Let me get a pic
Apr 18, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: did you verify the model is good

Apr 18, 2015 8:48 AM - Mike Glass: suppose to make the pieces look better, mostly for cases and sorts

Apr 18, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: You may hate it but it will not bind up when cold

Apr 18, 2015 10:56 AM - donhuevo: if it's just a film prop, I could have given you all my kickstarter parts. I'd even hand over the lid
Apr 18, 2015 10:56 AM - Mike Kelly: I've gotten mixed answers about whether they're actually doing linear steppers so we'll see.
Apr 18, 2015 10:57 AM - Mike Kelly: Maybe I can do a "how to upgrade" if they do
Apr 18, 2015 10:58 AM - donhuevo: the problem with that omc stepper online website is the shipping costs. They'd be reasonable if they were bought in the same country the printers are assembled in
Apr 18, 2015 11:02 AM - jbigler1986: If they do linear stepper upgrade they need to make them plug and play for the noobies or else we will be answering a ton of questions
Apr 18, 2015 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: New firmware just for them, include a lead nut adapter, etc....
Apr 18, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: I don't know how they'd pull it off as an upgrade option.
Apr 18, 2015 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: I mean it wouldn't totally be plug and play but as easy as you could get
Apr 18, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: Are the new Robo's still clamping the auto-level switch to the nuts?
Apr 18, 2015 11:05 AM - jbigler1986: Mine was and I got it like 2 months ago or so
Apr 18, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: Or have they moved the switches up onto the idler ends?
    Apr 18, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: ewww
    Apr 18, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: gotcha
Apr 18, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: so you still run the risk of spinning the nuts and breaking wires at the switches
Apr 18, 2015 11:06 AM - jbigler1986: They weren't even on clamped on the nut either. Don't know if that matters a ton or not
    Apr 18, 2015 11:06 AM - jbigler1986: That was a horrible sentence.
Apr 18, 2015 11:07 AM - donhuevo: try it again
Apr 18, 2015 11:07 AM - jbigler1986: They were not clamped on to the nuts evenly on each side.
    Apr 18, 2015 11:07 AM - donhuevo: ah
Apr 18, 2015 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: Might effect autolevel some. Not sure though
Apr 18, 2015 11:09 AM - donhuevo: it was a really popular way for the printers to break. May still be...
Apr 18, 2015 11:09 AM - jbigler1986: I know with my adapter and new lead screws I have had 0 issues. Haven't had to relevel
    Apr 18, 2015 11:10 AM - donhuevo: that's excellent
Apr 18, 2015 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: Before I had to manually level with paper trick after every like 2 prints because the left side was a few mm higher than the right
Apr 18, 2015 11:11 AM - donhuevo: I miss the old days with the paper-leveling
Apr 18, 2015 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: I had to do it on my Up mini. It was annoying
Apr 18, 2015 11:13 AM - donhuevo: I didn't have auto-level for the longest time. I had to do it before every print
Apr 18, 2015 11:13 AM - jbigler1986: That was my first ever 3d printer experience. Had it for like 3 days before realizing I needed a bigger build volume
Apr 18, 2015 11:15 AM - donhuevo: I'm not familiar with the UP mini
Apr 18, 2015 11:15 AM - jbigler1986: it printed parts amazing. just not big enough for me
Apr 18, 2015 11:19 AM - donhuevo: 120mm cubed. A little on the small side
    Apr 18, 2015 11:19 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah.
Apr 18, 2015 11:20 AM - donhuevo: fully enclosed though. I would be nice for things like nylon gears, IGUS linear bearings
    Apr 18, 2015 11:21 AM - donhuevo: but $900?
    Apr 18, 2015 11:21 AM - jbigler1986: i paid 599
    Apr 18, 2015 11:21 AM - donhuevo: that's a whole lot better

Apr 18, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Glass: You can make cool designs with a lawnmower.:)
Apr 18, 2015 11:33 AM - donhuevo: gonna need to figure out how to add some stepper motors to it
    Apr 18, 2015 11:33 AM - Mike Glass: Remote?
    Apr 18, 2015 11:33 AM - donhuevo: maybe.
    Apr 18, 2015 11:35 AM - donhuevo: uStream Producer isn't free anymore??????
Apr 18, 2015 11:36 AM - Mike Glass: Those bastards
Apr 18, 2015 11:38 AM - donhuevo: Mine hasn't worked since I did the 64bit upgrade. I was gonna grab the latest 32bit (after I already uninstalled)
Apr 18, 2015 11:39 AM - donhuevo: kept telling me my usb bandwidth was maxxed out
    Apr 18, 2015 11:41 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I get that a lot. It's annoying.
Apr 18, 2015 11:41 AM - jbigler1986: Although the laptop I use it on sucks
Apr 18, 2015 11:41 AM - donhuevo: it never happened to me until I installed the new version
Apr 18, 2015 11:43 AM - donhuevo: I found the old installer package in a temp file!
    Apr 18, 2015 11:45 AM - jbigler1986: Can up me the exe
Apr 18, 2015 11:47 AM - donhuevo: it's version 5.0.3. gimme a minute and I'll put it somewhere you can grab it.

Apr 18, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: Ustream producer is free
Apr 18, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Kelly: Just don't click the upgrade button. It's at the bottom
Apr 18, 2015 12:03 PM - donhuevo: They aren't allowing you to grab v5 anymore off the website.
Apr 18, 2015 12:03 PM - donhuevo: not that I could see anyway
    Apr 18, 2015 12:04 PM - donhuevo: streaming again though... http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
    Apr 18, 2015 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: Thanks
Apr 18, 2015 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: Your printer is to slow. Lol
Apr 18, 2015 12:09 PM - donhuevo: yep. I need to make it faster
    Apr 18, 2015 12:15 PM - jbigler1986: What speed is that at
Apr 18, 2015 12:15 PM - donhuevo: It get's up to 120 on the straightaways
    Apr 18, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: Lucky
    Apr 18, 2015 12:17 PM - donhuevo: luck?
Apr 18, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: What do you have to turn it down to for intricate parts
Apr 18, 2015 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: Lucky that you get to print at that speed. 4x faster than me
    Apr 18, 2015 12:19 PM - donhuevo: http://i.imgur.com/QMmYOWp.jpg
    Apr 18, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: crap I lied. It's doing infill at 150
    Apr 18, 2015 12:20 PM - jbigler1986: How dare you
Apr 18, 2015 12:21 PM - donhuevo: I have to print 32 of these tiles before I print the four board base pieces.

    Apr 18, 2015 12:22 PM - jbigler1986: Can't print more than 1 at a time?
Apr 18, 2015 12:22 PM - donhuevo: I never liked doing that. also never figured out how to print one start to finish before starting the next
Apr 18, 2015 12:23 PM - donhuevo: also abs is something I don't want sitting any longer than necessary because of warp
    Apr 18, 2015 12:23 PM - jbigler1986: I just figured that out in s3d. It's easy actually
    Apr 18, 2015 12:23 PM - donhuevo: I'm in Repetier w/ the Cura engine
Apr 18, 2015 12:24 PM - jbigler1986: MG had it working in Cura if you want to ask him.
Apr 18, 2015 12:25 PM - donhuevo: maybe one day. This is working for me.
    Apr 18, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I haven't actually printed anything one at a time yet
Apr 18, 2015 12:26 PM - donhuevo: I had too many failed prints doing multiple parts.
Apr 18, 2015 12:27 PM - donhuevo: I am having a thought though... If I do a carriage for the v6, it'll be lighter and maybe then I could push the speed even more
Apr 18, 2015 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I'm happy with my quality. Prints take forever but quality is amazing. So I can't complain
Apr 18, 2015 12:30 PM - donhuevo: my plan has always been go as fast as possible without losing quality.

Apr 18, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Glass: DO have have to have a process for every model?
Apr 18, 2015 2:58 PM - Mike Glass: even though they have the same process?
    Apr 18, 2015 2:58 PM - jbigler1986: yes
Apr 18, 2015 2:58 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. on the upper left side, double click the first model
    Apr 18, 2015 2:59 PM - Mike Glass: k
Apr 18, 2015 2:59 PM - Bill Monroe: make sure you have at least enough seperation bewteen them so the skirts wont run into each other
Apr 18, 2015 3:00 PM - Bill Monroe: scooch them around till you're happy
    Apr 18, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Apr 18, 2015 3:00 PM - jbigler1986: good call. sorry i'm kinda double tasking. thanks bill
    Apr 18, 2015 3:00 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. it's aright
Apr 18, 2015 3:01 PM - Bill Monroe: ok how double click the process you want to use for the first model
    Apr 18, 2015 3:01 PM - Bill Monroe: how-now
Apr 18, 2015 3:01 PM - Bill Monroe: on the bottom left.. pick select models
Apr 18, 2015 3:02 PM - Bill Monroe: them un-click all but the model you want for that process...
Apr 18, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Glass: I want all of them
Apr 18, 2015 3:02 PM - Bill Monroe: you want to use ALL of the process for each model??
    Apr 18, 2015 3:02 PM - Bill Monroe: processes
Apr 18, 2015 3:02 PM - Mike Glass: Yes, I just want to print one at a time
Apr 18, 2015 3:03 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. you have zeven processes.. are they all identical?
Apr 18, 2015 3:03 PM - Mike Glass: nope they are all for different type of material
Apr 18, 2015 3:04 PM - Bill Monroe: ok so you're going to use the same process for all model on the platform, yes?
    Apr 18, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Apr 18, 2015 3:04 PM - Bill Monroe: alright then yes, pick all of your models
Apr 18, 2015 3:05 PM - Bill Monroe: then say OK
Apr 18, 2015 3:05 PM - Bill Monroe: and close the settings window
Apr 18, 2015 3:05 PM - Bill Monroe: wait, I steered you wron
Apr 18, 2015 3:06 PM - Bill Monroe: wait, I steered you wronf, just a little
    Apr 18, 2015 3:06 PM - Bill Monroe: (I also cany type)
    Apr 18, 2015 3:06 PM - Bill Monroe: argh
    Apr 18, 2015 3:06 PM - Bill Monroe: ok
Apr 18, 2015 3:07 PM - Bill Monroe: what you're going to need is a seperate process for each model, even if they are identical
Apr 18, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Glass: ok easy enough
Apr 18, 2015 3:07 PM - Bill Monroe: without that, the slicer wont recognize them as individuals and wont give you the option to sequential print
Apr 18, 2015 3:07 PM - Mike Glass: ok done
Apr 18, 2015 3:08 PM - Bill Monroe: ok now repeat opening up each process and select the model for it..
Apr 18, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: yep done
Apr 18, 2015 3:09 PM - Bill Monroe: opk, here's where its differetn from normal, hit prepare to print, and a new window will open up
    Apr 18, 2015 3:09 PM - Mike Glass: yep I got it
Apr 18, 2015 3:10 PM - Bill Monroe: select the processes you want to print, then go down to the bottom
Apr 18, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: 50mm for max height correct
    Apr 18, 2015 3:10 PM - Bill Monroe: no
Apr 18, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Glass: from my understaning that is the x axis bar height.
Apr 18, 2015 3:11 PM - Bill Monroe: there you put in how high you can go before you need to go to another model so you can print it without fans or stuff hitting the first one
Apr 18, 2015 3:12 PM - Bill Monroe: it all depends on how close the are together and how far down you nozzle is from surrounding things ar eyou carrigae like fans and stuff
    Apr 18, 2015 3:13 PM - Bill Monroe: i have dual with those horn-shhaped ducts.. i only go a max of 4mm
Apr 18, 2015 3:13 PM - Bill Monroe: so it'll go that high, then go down and do the next model until it's 4mm high and so on
Apr 18, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: I want to print one at a time though complete
Apr 18, 2015 3:14 PM - Bill Monroe: if you're doing to ver small ones very far apart, you *might* get away with 50
Apr 18, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: like I did in Cura
Apr 18, 2015 3:14 PM - Bill Monroe: ok how high is the tallest one?
Apr 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Glass: These are only 1mm..lol but the other parts where 20mm
Apr 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Bill Monroe: oh well, for 1 mm just put in 2mm and it'll fine

Apr 18, 2015 3:15 PM - Mike Glass: 50 wont hurt, gonna try at least see what it does
Apr 18, 2015 3:16 PM - Bill Monroe: ya just gotta be mindful of what the nozzle is goig to do what might get hit
    Apr 18, 2015 3:16 PM - Bill Monroe: nope 50 is fine too for a 1mm part..
Apr 18, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Glass: with these fans I have alot of clearance now.
    Apr 18, 2015 3:16 PM - Bill Monroe: sweet
Apr 18, 2015 3:16 PM - Mike Glass: err not clearance but small footprint
Apr 18, 2015 3:17 PM - Mike Glass: I could only get 2 parts on the y axis because the fans were huge.
Apr 18, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: there is about 9mm of clearance on mine
Apr 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, you got the idea though
Apr 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Mike Glass: but how far from the nozzle to the fan is it.
Apr 18, 2015 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: so yours is probably close or may have more. i think the hex is longer
Apr 18, 2015 3:18 PM - Bill Monroe: I use this a lot, 4mm is my max if they're close together..
Apr 18, 2015 3:19 PM - jbigler1986: 9mm from nozzle until it would hit the fan
Apr 18, 2015 3:19 PM - Bill Monroe: i like that the chance for hairs between the parts is severely reduced
Apr 18, 2015 3:19 PM - Bill Monroe: and it saves some time shuttling back and forth
Apr 18, 2015 3:20 PM - Bill Monroe: pen holder is 50% done

Apr 18, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Glass: The lcd case came out sweet
Apr 18, 2015 3:28 PM - jbigler1986: let me know how the one at a time works out. haven't actually printed with it yet
Apr 18, 2015 3:29 PM - Mike Glass: I like cura better as it shows you on the bed your actual placement of your carriage so you dont mess it up.
Apr 18, 2015 3:30 PM - jbigler1986: i haven't tried to get cura or slicer working since i installed new rods.
Apr 18, 2015 3:32 PM - jbigler1986: need to get slic3r or cura setup though to print some gliders for my kids
Apr 18, 2015 3:33 PM - Mike Glass: Yea I want to try one of those.
Apr 18, 2015 3:33 PM - Bill Monroe: I did the Monroe Federation Logo this morning
    Apr 18, 2015 3:33 PM - jbigler1986: the one i printed in s3d with a raft was useless

Apr 18, 2015 3:36 PM - Bill Monroe: the Starggate Glider?
    Apr 18, 2015 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:300168
    Apr 18, 2015 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: i was trying that one
Apr 18, 2015 3:37 PM - jbigler1986: among about 10 others to see if i could get the wings to slice correctly
Apr 18, 2015 3:40 PM - jbigler1986: try to slice one in s3d and let me know if it works for u
Apr 18, 2015 3:40 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, I gotta get back to my homework
Apr 18, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Glass: what didnt it do?
Apr 18, 2015 3:41 PM - Mike Glass: ok get back in your hottub
Apr 18, 2015 3:41 PM - Bill Monroe: heh that was lat night.. tonights the hanger.
Apr 18, 2015 3:42 PM - jbigler1986: the really thin half of the wing just wouldn't show after slicing. i moved the layer slider and it wasn't there at all
Apr 18, 2015 3:42 PM - Bill Monroe: I just have homework to get done, or I'll be doing THAT in the hanger :)
Apr 18, 2015 3:42 PM - Bill Monroe: jb, is the wing thinner than your nozzle?
    Apr 18, 2015 3:43 PM - jbigler1986: i had .4 nozzle on and tried with .1 height
    Apr 18, 2015 3:43 PM - Bill Monroe: hmm
    Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - Bill Monroe: i say hmmm when I'm thinking
Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - Bill Monroe: .....or when I forget the words
    Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. I'm out
Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Glass: yea it doesnt come up right in s3d
    Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - jbigler1986: have fun
Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - Mike Glass: just points
Apr 18, 2015 3:44 PM - jbigler1986: half of the wing is missing isn't it
Apr 18, 2015 3:45 PM - Mike Glass: cura works
    Apr 18, 2015 3:45 PM - jbigler1986: yeah slic3r worked for it too. it's weird
    Apr 18, 2015 3:45 PM - jbigler1986: isn't there a repair option is s3d?
    Apr 18, 2015 3:46 PM - jbigler1986: maybe that's causing an issue
Apr 18, 2015 3:46 PM - Mike Glass: tried that too
Apr 18, 2015 3:47 PM - jbigler1986: i tried to google it and came up with nothing
Apr 18, 2015 3:48 PM - Mike Glass: cant do it in cura either, you have to change the direction of layers at 0 and 90 degrees.
Apr 18, 2015 3:50 PM - jbigler1986: "had to use the 08 file with simplify3d" wtf does that mean
Apr 18, 2015 4:01 PM - Mike Glass: hmm I reopened in s3d and it works now
    Apr 18, 2015 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: Wtf
Apr 18, 2015 4:06 PM - jbigler1986: Let me close it and reopen
    Apr 18, 2015 4:08 PM - jbigler1986: still didn't work
Apr 18, 2015 4:08 PM - Mike Glass: I raised it up then closed it , then reopened s3d
Apr 18, 2015 4:08 PM - Mike Glass: so set the z up on click
Apr 18, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Glass: the z offset when you click on the model
Apr 18, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Glass: gonna start to print in 30 sec
Apr 18, 2015 4:11 PM - jbigler1986: what was your offest on the model?
    Apr 18, 2015 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: offset*
Apr 18, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Glass: not sure I just set up up more then hit the center and arrange
    Apr 18, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Glass: http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions
Apr 18, 2015 4:13 PM - jbigler1986: center and arrange drops it back to low for me again
Apr 18, 2015 4:14 PM - jbigler1986: .5 offset works. wonder if it will print fine like that though
Apr 18, 2015 4:14 PM - Mike Glass: yes set up higher then close s3d
    Apr 18, 2015 4:15 PM - jbigler1986: let me try that
Apr 18, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: open s3d and hit the center and arrange
Apr 18, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: worked for me and printing away
Apr 18, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Glass: Hopefully I am going the correct way, I think I was suppose to start at 0. not 90
    Apr 18, 2015 4:17 PM - jbigler1986: loading ur stream
    Apr 18, 2015 4:19 PM - jbigler1986: which one did you print
Apr 18, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Glass: the one you posted
    Apr 18, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Glass: The Super Stratos D-100
    Apr 18, 2015 4:20 PM - jbigler1986: I have to leave the offset.
    Apr 18, 2015 4:21 PM - jbigler1986: I have my z set to -. 45 is the script tab I believe
    Apr 18, 2015 4:22 PM - jbigler1986: Instead of the z offset in M565
Apr 18, 2015 4:23 PM - Mike Glass: no it is just bed placement has nothing to do with that
Apr 18, 2015 4:24 PM - Mike Glass: Its just not placing on the bed correct
Apr 18, 2015 4:24 PM - jbigler1986: It adds that to the model. When I load the model it adds my -.45 to the model offset making it to low
Apr 18, 2015 4:25 PM - Mike Glass: lift it up off the bed, close the program, reopen s3d and hit the center and arrange,
Apr 18, 2015 4:25 PM - Mike Glass: do you know how to move the model on the bed?
Apr 18, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: double click the object and you get a popup
    Apr 18, 2015 4:28 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]

Apr 18, 2015 4:46 PM - jbigler1986: curious to see how this is going to turn out
Apr 18, 2015 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: kinda what i figured. it was to high
    Apr 18, 2015 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: gonna add my offset to m565

    Apr 18, 2015 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: hello
Apr 18, 2015 5:03 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So, does anyone know what those connectors are called that are used for all of the components on the RoBo (fans, hotend, etc)?
Apr 18, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: didn't have to change the model offset MG
    Apr 18, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: jst
    Apr 18, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: google jst connector

Apr 18, 2015 5:30 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So what is your opinion on the E3D Lite6?
Apr 18, 2015 5:34 PM - Mike Glass: too light
Apr 18, 2015 5:35 PM - Mike Glass: might as well get a hex
Apr 18, 2015 5:36 PM - jbigler1986: if getting e3d just got for the regular
Apr 18, 2015 5:37 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Would you think the E3D v6 is better than the default hex that RoBo comes with?
    Apr 18, 2015 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: yes
Apr 18, 2015 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: specially with a volcano attached.
Apr 18, 2015 5:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I dont think I need a volcano at this point lol
Apr 18, 2015 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: MG what nozzle did you use
Apr 18, 2015 5:38 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Anyway, does Printed Solid offer free shipping, or are my eyes just bewitched?

Apr 18, 2015 5:39 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Is that 2-day, or is it average shipping? because the last time that I purchased ColorFabb from him, it was a quick 2-day.
    Apr 18, 2015 5:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: (I'm inside the US)
Apr 18, 2015 5:42 PM - Mike Glass: 2 days usually but its not guarenteed. everyting I have go was a few days 3 at most
Apr 18, 2015 5:43 PM - Mike Glass: like he said he could of got it to you on monday if you ordered it on Friday.

Apr 18, 2015 5:44 PM - jbigler1986: I gotta change nozzle. Tried with 8 on this one. Lol. Fail
Apr 18, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: yea that is way to big
    Apr 18, 2015 5:44 PM - Mike Glass: .5 would probably work.
Apr 18, 2015 5:45 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Looks like I found a regular supplier (Printed Solid). Quick shipping is a MAJOR selling point for me.
Apr 18, 2015 5:47 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah he is awesome. If you need something that you don't see on his site just pm him on here. He most likely has it
Apr 18, 2015 5:48 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Wow, brain fart. RoBo3D is a direct drive, right? Sorry, just got off of 10 hours of work.

Apr 18, 2015 5:55 PM - Shank: im having a problem with my robo. i just finished my dual part fan mod, and when it is running the bed level calibration it has a temp error
    Apr 18, 2015 5:56 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Is the fan running? :)
    Apr 18, 2015 5:56 PM - Shank: nope

Apr 18, 2015 6:23 PM - jbigler1986: I may buy some power tools tomorrow. Seriously thinking about that small band saw
Apr 18, 2015 6:25 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i coulda used a band saw today
Apr 18, 2015 6:26 PM - Mike Kelly: some other day

Apr 18, 2015 6:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: So does anyone know when Barnacules is going to get going on that RoBo 3D R1 video?

    Apr 18, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 18, 2015 6:31 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I wanna see that enclosure in action.
Apr 18, 2015 6:32 PM - Mike Kelly: man no idea
Apr 18, 2015 6:32 PM - Mike Kelly: that was weeks ago

Apr 18, 2015 6:32 PM - Mike Kelly: we gave him one
Apr 18, 2015 6:32 PM - WayUpNorthMN: He got one of Mikes
    Apr 18, 2015 6:32 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yeah.
Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: Gotcha. He used hi robo recently but no enclosure was on it
    Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: Should yell at him
Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I might tweet him to see what his plans are for that. I have been waiting :)
    Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I wanna see it in action before buying one :)
Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - jbigler1986: Tell him to stop poop napping and get on it
Apr 18, 2015 6:33 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah i'd love the advertising but it's hard to convince him to go through all that effort
Apr 18, 2015 6:34 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah he has a lot going on with bigger companies unfortunately
    Apr 18, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Kelly: yup
Apr 18, 2015 6:35 PM - Mike Kelly: he gets lots of cool shit
Apr 18, 2015 6:35 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Yes, but he still answers his Twitter. I mean, I like all of these drone videos that he does, but for the amount of passion that he has for printing, he sure is lacking in videos for it.

Apr 18, 2015 6:35 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah though if i had an ultimaker 2 i wouldn't use much else
Apr 18, 2015 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: You have a Rep you think ultimaker is better?
Apr 18, 2015 6:39 PM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/g9hWM4W why is my first layer not solid? damn these gliders
Apr 18, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: i'd love to have the ultimaker 2
Apr 18, 2015 6:40 PM - Mike Kelly: are you still on a 0.8mm nozzle
    Apr 18, 2015 6:40 PM - jbigler1986: Nope. 4
Apr 18, 2015 6:40 PM - WayUpNorthMN: My uncle has one. I am pretty sure he is teasing me.
Apr 18, 2015 6:41 PM - Mike Kelly: sure looks like when you had the diameter wrong...
Apr 18, 2015 6:41 PM - jbigler1986: Let me double check. Pretty sure I set it to 8
Apr 18, 2015 6:41 PM - Mike Glass: should be set to 4 ifyo have the .4 on
    Apr 18, 2015 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. It's at 4
    Apr 18, 2015 6:42 PM - jbigler1986: I meant 4 not 8
Apr 18, 2015 6:42 PM - WayUpNorthMN: I think while I wait for my E3D to get here, I am going to use my RoBo as a 2D plotter.
Apr 18, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Kelly: possibly under extruding...
Apr 18, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: hmm. looks way off
Apr 18, 2015 6:43 PM - jbigler1986: Ikr. Ugh. Let me change something
    Apr 18, 2015 7:08 PM - jbigler1986: that didn't work
Apr 18, 2015 7:12 PM - Mike Kelly: what did you try
Apr 18, 2015 7:18 PM - WayUpNorthMN: Hey guys, what would you recommend for a cheap(er) backup printer for my Robo?
Apr 18, 2015 7:18 PM - Mike Kelly: that printrbot play they just announced looks cool
Apr 18, 2015 7:19 PM - Mike Kelly: or the printrbot simple metal
    Apr 18, 2015 7:53 PM - Mike Glass: What about a Velleman
Apr 18, 2015 8:01 PM - Mike Kelly: not familiar
    Apr 18, 2015 8:09 PM - jbigler1986: Only thing I changed was M565
    Apr 18, 2015 8:10 PM - jbigler1986: I was using the z offset in s3d instead of m565. I changed z to 0 and entered it into M565 instead.
    Apr 18, 2015 8:11 PM - Mike Glass: I always use M565
    Apr 18, 2015 8:12 PM - jbigler1986: I may just reset s3d and start over
    Apr 18, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: I have 5 of them printed by now..lol
Apr 18, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: could of..
Apr 18, 2015 8:13 PM - jbigler1986: I wouldn't think that's the issue though. Maybe it is. Gonna go back to how I had it and see if that fixes it.
    Apr 18, 2015 8:15 PM - jbigler1986: If that doesn't fix it I will just start over in s3d.
    Apr 18, 2015 8:46 PM - Mike Kelly: woof
Apr 18, 2015 8:53 PM - Mike Kelly: people frustrate me sometimes

Apr 19, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: it relative
Apr 19, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: it is relative

    Apr 19, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: Trying to set my M565 offset
    Apr 19, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: you'll get it
Apr 19, 2015 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: With my other way it gave me issues trying to print really thin parts
    Apr 19, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: I thought it might
Apr 19, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: you get the same effect on thick one, the thickeness hides it
    Apr 19, 2015 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: Got it. -.5
    Apr 19, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: great!
    Apr 19, 2015 5:58 AM - jbigler1986: Just took like 10 minutes.
Apr 19, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: Just gotta baby sit the start of a print then stop it.
Apr 19, 2015 5:59 AM - Bill Monroe: all you're looking for is the distance the Z has to go PAST the point the tip hits the table, for the limit swith to actuate it
Apr 19, 2015 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: Adjust and repeat. People make it out to be a huge deal. It's not
Apr 19, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: mp, it's not at all.. but the home for Z method is uncommon and can be confusing
Apr 19, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: add in that most folks either dont or cant explain it well, and it makes it tough to learn
Apr 19, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Need a sticky saying how to adjust it. The more - the higher from the bed
Apr 19, 2015 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: So of its at -.7 and you need it lower u would need like -.6
Apr 19, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: in S3D, once you get the M565 set for the distance below the bed the switch activates, the first layer height is the *percentage* of the layer height
Apr 19, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: so, if the M565 is correct, and you're using a .2 layer thickness, a first layer height of 50% will put the tip .1 above the surface
    Apr 19, 2015 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: True. S3d is an amazing software
    Apr 19, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: I like it, obviously :)
Apr 19, 2015 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: My part yesterday was going good until is started infill. I had it to low. Woops
Apr 19, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: How was the hanger last night? Are you building a plane? Or just playing with yours?
    Apr 19, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm at the hanger now :)
Apr 19, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: spent the night here.. today, I'm going over the plane I just bought
    Apr 19, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: Awesome. What kind
Apr 19, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: it's a home built identical to the one my father and I built during the 60's-70s. It's called a "Fly Baby"
Apr 19, 2015 6:15 AM - jbigler1986: My father in law is into aviation. He sold his last plane like 5 years ago. He won't buy a new one until the price is perfect. Even if they are like $1000 apart on the price he won't do the deal. Even if he really likes it.
    Apr 19, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: that's a patient man
Apr 19, 2015 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: i took a pic of this one yesterday, let me get it someplace where I can share it
Apr 19, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: He drives me crazy. He has a new srt 8 challenger. Well it was new like 4 years ago that he has literally put 318 miles on
Apr 19, 2015 6:17 AM - jbigler1986: Just sits in his garage under a cover
Apr 19, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: argh.. photobucket is wacked
    Apr 19, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: Imgur.com
    Apr 19, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: Uber easy
    Apr 19, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Apr 19, 2015 6:29 AM - jbigler1986: Nice. I love the color combo too
Apr 19, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: it needs more red on the rudder and wings
    Apr 19, 2015 6:29 AM - jbigler1986: I like it
Apr 19, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: this might be my retirement plane
Apr 19, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: the guys in it are the sons of the guy who built it, who died 9 years ago.. it's been in storage ever since
Apr 19, 2015 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: they took it one more turn around the airport before they headed back to NC
Apr 19, 2015 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: it's not in the same config as the original design.. it has two seats instead of one, and it has a radial engine instead of the flat four it was designed for
    Apr 19, 2015 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: Looks fun
Apr 19, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: fun is the goal
Apr 19, 2015 6:43 AM - Bill Monroe: the wings fold so, the idea is to keep it in the shop at home and tow it to the airport
Apr 19, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: I wont need a hanger when I retire and I can work on it at home
    Apr 19, 2015 6:56 AM - Mike Glass: heyo
    Apr 19, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: MG
Apr 19, 2015 6:58 AM - Mike Glass: whats up this morning

Apr 19, 2015 7:00 AM - Mike Glass: just got up. stayed up late assembling the Bobcat
    Apr 19, 2015 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
Apr 19, 2015 7:03 AM - Bill Monroe: I just pushed the BBQ out.
Apr 19, 2015 7:05 AM - Mike Glass: little early for hotdogs isnt it. or ya gonna roast a pig

    Apr 19, 2015 7:13 AM - Bill Monroe: ok :)
Apr 19, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Glass: guess top speed is only 131 MPH so 6.6 hours
    Apr 19, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: Lake?
Apr 19, 2015 7:18 AM - Mike Glass: yep this is what I used to get to fly in with my grandfather.
Apr 19, 2015 7:21 AM - Bill Monroe: check out that guy's horizontal stab!
Apr 19, 2015 7:22 AM - Mike Glass: He sold it however before he passed, but what great memories, we landed in the lake here in my hometown, and when we visited in Alaska he few us to bear island.
Apr 19, 2015 7:22 AM - Bill Monroe: amphibs are fun
Apr 19, 2015 7:23 AM - Mike Glass: I have all his flight books and original papers on the plane.
Apr 19, 2015 7:25 AM - Bill Monroe: this one belongs to Jim, another guy in my hanger complex..
Apr 19, 2015 7:27 AM - Mike Glass: nice, what was it originaly used for?
Apr 19, 2015 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: ocean patrols, sub bombing, search and rescue
Apr 19, 2015 7:28 AM - Bill Monroe: post war a lot were used for fire bombing
Apr 19, 2015 7:30 AM - Bill Monroe: there were made her in san diego
    Apr 19, 2015 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: Is M107 fan off?
Apr 19, 2015 7:30 AM - jbigler1986: I need to turn fans off after print
    Apr 19, 2015 7:30 AM - Bill Monroe: i think so
Apr 19, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: Yea I saw that, really cool.
Apr 19, 2015 7:30 AM - Mike Glass: hey JB
Apr 19, 2015 7:31 AM - Mike Glass: My fav
Apr 19, 2015 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: yup fan off
    Apr 19, 2015 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: http://reprap.org/wiki/G-code
    Apr 19, 2015 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: Morning MG
Apr 19, 2015 7:35 AM - jbigler1986: Anywhere is end gcode is fine right
Apr 19, 2015 7:36 AM - Mike Glass: I saw that too, my fan would not shut down, kinda odd.
    Apr 19, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: That should fix it
Apr 19, 2015 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont turn mine off until the temps get to 75
Apr 19, 2015 7:44 AM - Mike Glass: the bed?
    Apr 19, 2015 7:44 AM - Bill Monroe: extruders
Apr 19, 2015 7:45 AM - Bill Monroe: i like to leave them going on really thick prints.. thin prints it doesnt hurt so...
Apr 19, 2015 7:46 AM - Mike Glass: yep probably not a good Idea to turn it off right away
    Apr 19, 2015 7:49 AM - jbigler1986: I don't see it hurting anything
Apr 19, 2015 7:51 AM - jbigler1986: Not talking about hotend fan. Parts fan
Apr 19, 2015 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: sometimes if you print something rather thick and somewhat tall, the cooling fans dont really work that well so, I like to leave them on a little longer

Apr 19, 2015 7:53 AM - Bill Monroe: i have mine shit down when the extruder temps get lower.. you can use the bed temp too
Apr 19, 2015 7:53 AM - jbigler1986: I don't think there is a way to define when to turn them off after a certain time or temp. Not easily anyways
    Apr 19, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: it's very easy :)
    Apr 19, 2015 7:56 AM - jbigler1986: What's the code for it
Apr 19, 2015 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: I dont wannt just tell you how.. give a man a fish.. etc.. but look at the M109 and M190 commands in that link I gave you :)
Apr 19, 2015 7:57 AM - Bill Monroe: let me know if you get stumped
Apr 19, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: Then you would need to add another code turn it off after the fan shuts off correct?
    Apr 19, 2015 8:01 AM - jbigler1986: So wait to reach say 100 then M107 then Turn off M104 S0
    Apr 19, 2015 8:01 AM - jbigler1986: Is that right?
    Apr 19, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: So M104 S100, M107, M104 S0
Apr 19, 2015 8:05 AM - Mike Glass: is what only for heating though?
    Apr 19, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: I think it works in reverse too
    Apr 19, 2015 8:07 AM - jbigler1986: Need a 1 minute test print. Hmmm
Apr 19, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: I printed a lmu bearing last night for 3/4 conduit..lol I hav to size it down just a tad but should work.
Apr 19, 2015 8:08 AM - jbigler1986: I think I'm just going to order some and just glue on the cable holder to the carriage for now
Apr 19, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: Im making one for my carriage, I have the chain printed ready to go.
    Apr 19, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: I like having more flexible wires
    Apr 19, 2015 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: Testing the end gcode now
Apr 19, 2015 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: Will let you know it goes
    Apr 19, 2015 8:27 AM - jbigler1986: Nope. Didn't work. Just shut off
    Apr 19, 2015 8:56 AM - Les Hall: hi

    Apr 19, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: printed a glider earlier. works good
Apr 19, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Glass: about effin time
Apr 19, 2015 9:37 AM - Mike Glass: im printing these. [IMG]
Apr 19, 2015 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: I designed them for hanging signs, I dont have a plunge router, but I have forstner bits..heh
    Apr 19, 2015 9:41 AM - donhuevo: hola muchachos
    Apr 19, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Glass: groucho maximous..lol
    Apr 19, 2015 9:42 AM - donhuevo: I can accept that
Apr 19, 2015 9:43 AM - donhuevo: what filament are you using to make these lmu bearings?
    Apr 19, 2015 9:44 AM - donhuevo: are you building a garage-sized printer?
Apr 19, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: PLA for trial, but have some bridge im going to try
Apr 19, 2015 9:45 AM - donhuevo: I didn't get great layer-layer adhesion but that tribo from IGUS is supposed to be 'self-lubricating'
Apr 19, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: no I was just curious if it would work, Im building one now that uses 53 bearings.
    Apr 19, 2015 9:48 AM - donhuevo: 53?
Apr 19, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Kelly: ahoy hoy
    Apr 19, 2015 9:51 AM - donhuevo: hola
    Apr 19, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Kelly: how's everyone today
Apr 19, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike
Apr 19, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: I ran out of my Sally Hansen Insta-dri clear nail polish last night and tried another. the new stuff sticks better than crazy glue
Apr 19, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: which is bad because I had to melt the part off the bed with acetone
Apr 19, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: Nail Polish?
Apr 19, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: what are you sniffin over there.
Apr 19, 2015 9:54 AM - donhuevo: the best thing I found to hold abs to a glass surface
Apr 19, 2015 9:54 AM - donhuevo: better than slurry
Apr 19, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Kelly: i haven't had any warping since switching to printinz
Apr 19, 2015 9:56 AM - jbigler1986: but u also break your part removing it MK. lol
    Apr 19, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Apr 19, 2015 9:57 AM - donhuevo: the good stuff: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004KRVBT8...29462581&sr=1&keywords=sally+hansen+insta-dri
    Apr 19, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Kelly: i'll avoid 2 legged things
    Apr 19, 2015 9:57 AM - jbigler1986: does your wife know?
    Apr 19, 2015 9:58 AM - donhuevo: the bad stuff: http://www.amazon.com/Sally-Hansen-...=sally+hansen+hard+as+nails+xtreme+wear+clear
Apr 19, 2015 10:00 AM - donhuevo: what printinz size did you go with?
Apr 19, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: how big of parts are you printing with abs that your having trouble with.
Apr 19, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: 10x10 but i'd suggest an 11x10 so you have some more clamping spots on the end
Apr 19, 2015 10:04 AM - donhuevo: I was getting warping on any sized print. ABfnS. The chess pieces came out ok though. As it's the only lime green filament I have & I wanted the board to match, I'm using it for that too
Apr 19, 2015 10:05 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i have the same issue with abs
Apr 19, 2015 10:05 AM - donhuevo: this is the board I went with... http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:234626
Apr 19, 2015 10:06 AM - donhuevo: I did the 32 individual tiles with the green. I could and should do the 4 board base pieces with black PLA instead of ABfnS
Apr 19, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: what's the fun in that
Apr 19, 2015 10:06 AM - donhuevo: I don't need any more reasons to kill people right now
    Apr 19, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: lol
Apr 19, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: what heat do you use on the bed with abs
    Apr 19, 2015 10:07 AM - donhuevo: 85
Apr 19, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Glass: I never go over 75 with abs
Apr 19, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Glass: gets to gooey and lifts off
    Apr 19, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: 110 baby
Apr 19, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Glass: that is just insane
    Apr 19, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: if it works :)
Apr 19, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: why not just light a fire under the bed
    Apr 19, 2015 10:10 AM - donhuevo: not a bad idea...
Apr 19, 2015 10:10 AM - Mike Glass: oh wait somebody did do that..lol
Apr 19, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: controlled burn
Apr 19, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: do you know how many hours it would take to get the bed to 110
Apr 19, 2015 10:11 AM - donhuevo: I'm gonna make an adapter to hold a can of sterno under my bed
Apr 19, 2015 10:12 AM - donhuevo: by the way, printinz doesnt sell an 11x10
Apr 19, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: suppose if you had 24 volt it would pretty fast though
    Apr 19, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: me? about 2 minutes
Apr 19, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: i know don, send him an email, he'll make a cut
Apr 19, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: he might even be willing to sell you the adhesive version i use
Apr 19, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Kelly: but don't say you heard it from me....
Apr 19, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Glass: Mike do those work good cold or do they require heat?
    Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - donhuevo: good question
Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: supposedly it works so good you can print ABS without heat
Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i've never tried but that's what he claims
Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - donhuevo: well you need to do that
    Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - donhuevo: this instant
Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: hmm, those are like $80 for that big right.
    Apr 19, 2015 10:14 AM - donhuevo: over $100
    Apr 19, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: whoa: http://i.imgur.com/zWAJQHf.jpg
    Apr 19, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: I need one 18x 20
    Apr 19, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: huh?
    Apr 19, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Kelly: 10x10 is $70 supposedly
    Apr 19, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: doh
Apr 19, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: can they cut any size you want
Apr 19, 2015 10:17 AM - donhuevo: 300x300 is 105 then add the cost of the cut and carry the 1...

    Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: wait...
    Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: hahaha
    Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: i wouldn't use a printer part that was PLA
Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: but i print in an enclosure with ABS
Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: so it sees higher than usual temps
Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: all my printer parts are PLA
    Apr 19, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: 50C is not unepected
Apr 19, 2015 10:23 AM - donhuevo: I just don't plan on setting up my printer on the dash of my car
Apr 19, 2015 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: why does my infill not stick on this part. ugh
Apr 19, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i have some spun bearings in my x carriage
Apr 19, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: moves super rough
Apr 19, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: sooo i get to do a teardown oh boy
Apr 19, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Kelly: so while i'm at it i'm upgrading to a new carriage design
Apr 19, 2015 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: any way to lower height or something of infill?

Apr 19, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Glass: check your flow
Apr 19, 2015 10:27 AM - jbigler1986: then they dont stick after that
Apr 19, 2015 10:28 AM - Mike Glass: what is you FLH and FLW
    Apr 19, 2015 10:29 AM - jbigler1986: infill width?
    Apr 19, 2015 10:30 AM - jbigler1986: first layer height and width?
Apr 19, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: nvm, your are past the first
Apr 19, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: what is your extrusion at?
    Apr 19, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: I run min at 97
    Apr 19, 2015 10:30 AM - jbigler1986: 1
    Apr 19, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: mine
Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: what are you using ?
    Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: s3d
Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: slow down infill on this big ass part maybe?
Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: goto the machine control panel
Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: look at extrusion
    Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - jbigler1986: 100
Apr 19, 2015 10:31 AM - Mike Glass: its overide settings
Apr 19, 2015 10:32 AM - jbigler1986: small parts no issue. this big one though is another story
Apr 19, 2015 10:32 AM - jbigler1986: maybe lowering layer height on it will fix it
Apr 19, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: that makes no sense though. clogged nozzle?
Apr 19, 2015 10:33 AM - jbigler1986: nope. it comes out just fine. everything is good it like it's not low enough and not sticking
Apr 19, 2015 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: first few layers are just fine
Apr 19, 2015 10:34 AM - Mike Glass: you changed something then
Apr 19, 2015 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: nozzle size and layer height is all from glider to thid
    Apr 19, 2015 10:34 AM - jbigler1986: this
Apr 19, 2015 10:46 AM - jbigler1986: probably the nozzle size and layer height. oh well. i will just print it with .4
    Apr 19, 2015 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: damn cura speed is hauling
    Apr 19, 2015 11:58 AM - jbigler1986: set it to 35mm/s but it's going way faster
Apr 19, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: does this look like he taped ptfe tube to the jhead to you guys?
    Apr 19, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Apr 19, 2015 12:16 PM - Mike Glass: why its still direct drive
Apr 19, 2015 12:17 PM - Mike Glass: shoulnt matter
    Apr 19, 2015 12:18 PM - jbigler1986: could cause issues
Apr 19, 2015 12:19 PM - jbigler1986: damn cura. trying to reinstall it and it's leaving leftovers
Apr 19, 2015 1:12 PM - Printed Solid: that's kapton tape. It's probably there as some attempt at a guide. Not really needed. That guys problem is that he put together the V6 wrong. case closed.
Apr 19, 2015 1:19 PM - Bill Monroe: gads how can you do it wrong?
Apr 19, 2015 1:27 PM - Printed Solid: screwed the heater block all the way butted up against the heat sink.
Apr 19, 2015 1:28 PM - Printed Solid: nozzle looks like it is hanging on by only a few threads.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:28 PM - Bill Monroe: oh well, ya there's that :)
Apr 19, 2015 1:28 PM - Printed Solid: little details.
Apr 19, 2015 1:28 PM - Bill Monroe: some people just can be helped/
Apr 19, 2015 1:29 PM - Printed Solid: eh. we all make mistakes, but that one does seem a tab much.
Apr 19, 2015 1:29 PM - Printed Solid: went to 3d print show yesterday. got to see some neat new stuff.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:30 PM - Bill Monroe: Did you see a working R2?
Apr 19, 2015 1:30 PM - Printed Solid: no. Robo doesn't ever make it out east for shows AFAIK
Apr 19, 2015 1:30 PM - Bill Monroe: bah humbug
Apr 19, 2015 1:30 PM - Printed Solid: saw the new tiny printrbot.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:31 PM - Printed Solid: they
Apr 19, 2015 1:31 PM - Bill Monroe: why would anyone want a tiny one?
Apr 19, 2015 1:31 PM - Printed Solid: they're doing away with the simple maker's kit in favor of a fully assembled mini version of the plus.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:31 PM - Printed Solid: it's $400.
Apr 19, 2015 1:32 PM - Printed Solid: Those small printers sell like crazy. I'm sure that's why robo is coming out with one.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:32 PM - Bill Monroe: it's still a 4 motor machine, yes?
Apr 19, 2015 1:32 PM - Printed Solid: Pretty sure makerbot mini (as insanely overpriced as it is) is their best selling machine.
Apr 19, 2015 1:32 PM - Printed Solid: yeah. pretty much the plus but small.
Apr 19, 2015 1:33 PM - Bill Monroe: alright so, really, where's the savings that give the lower cost? cant be in parts count
Apr 19, 2015 1:33 PM - Printed Solid: Then there was a massive machine. The Big Rep. Selling to industrial customers. $40k, full industriial controls.
Apr 19, 2015 1:34 PM - Printed Solid: probably mostly in margin honestly.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:34 PM - Bill Monroe: that wat I think
Apr 19, 2015 1:34 PM - Bill Monroe: but stratasys can afford it, to gain the market share and kill the startups
Apr 19, 2015 1:35 PM - Printed Solid: rumor around the show is that makerbot is being closed down entirely.
Apr 19, 2015 1:35 PM - Stephen Capistron: Money is in the filament too
Apr 19, 2015 1:35 PM - Printed Solid: CEO gave a speech that was basically an apology. very strange.
Apr 19, 2015 1:35 PM - Bill Monroe: has to be a rumor.. they just moved some people to take control
Apr 19, 2015 1:36 PM - Printed Solid: you didn't ready the news that they laid off 20% of the staff and closed the makerbot stores?
Apr 19, 2015 1:36 PM - Bill Monroe: Strat already announced their high end biz is going to slow development since the want to rebuild the company focusing on manifacturing instead of prototyping

Apr 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, they did that do eliminate duplicates
    Apr 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: to
    Apr 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Printed Solid: the stores weren't dupicates.
Apr 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: no, but Strat doesnt do stores
Apr 19, 2015 1:37 PM - Printed Solid: thus, makerbot being closed down. Maybe they keep the name.
Apr 19, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: they've prefected less expensive ways to get their product to market.. stores are expensive
    Apr 19, 2015 1:38 PM - Printed Solid: that's all well and good for B to B.
Apr 19, 2015 1:40 PM - Bill Monroe: makerbot wasnt competition, they didnt buy it just to close it
Apr 19, 2015 1:40 PM - Printed Solid: I'm sure they didn't buy it to close it, but I'm sure they didn't buy it for the nightmare it has become either. I'm sure they'll keep the name. There is value in that.
Apr 19, 2015 1:40 PM - Bill Monroe: theyll use their tech to elevate the MB to a mid-level machine and let that support their R&D
Apr 19, 2015 1:41 PM - Printed Solid: Keeping a Brooklyn operation and worthless design? not so much
Apr 19, 2015 1:42 PM - Printed Solid: we'll see. If someone in that org is smart, they'd probably back out. Stratasys never did anything successful at a low price point, certainly not the mojos, and makerbot drove themselves into the ground.
Apr 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Printed Solid: should be interesting to watch for sure.
Apr 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Bill Monroe: it costs money to make a machine that a moron can use
Apr 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Printed Solid: makerbot's always been good for that.
Apr 19, 2015 1:43 PM - Bill Monroe: now they know how and can do it cheaper
Apr 19, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: no.. seriously.. a blonde secretary can use it
    Apr 19, 2015 1:44 PM - Printed Solid: A 5th gen?
Apr 19, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: no,, the strat
Apr 19, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: I have one... you cant screw it up
    Apr 19, 2015 1:44 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000E...SX200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=31GZdHP1tlL&ref=plSrch
Apr 19, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: it always makes perfect prints.. always
    Apr 19, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: Just ordered those bad boys
Apr 19, 2015 1:45 PM - Printed Solid: we'll see. should be interesting to see where this is a year from now.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:45 PM - jbigler1986: Hello there
    Apr 19, 2015 1:46 PM - Printed Solid: hi
Apr 19, 2015 1:46 PM - jbigler1986: When are u shipping me items for me to take pics for you? Jk
    Apr 19, 2015 1:47 PM - Printed Solid: :)
    Apr 19, 2015 1:47 PM - Printed Solid: I should.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:47 PM - jbigler1986: I would
Apr 19, 2015 1:48 PM - Printed Solid: Well, I'll do it tonight then!
    Apr 19, 2015 1:48 PM - jbigler1986: I'm game. You have my address
Apr 19, 2015 1:48 PM - Bill Monroe: anyone here have diesct TV? I just ound a way to get them to lower their rate
Apr 19, 2015 1:48 PM - Printed Solid: I've heard lots of tricks with those guys. what is yours?
Apr 19, 2015 1:49 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah call and bitch that you are going to switch. I do it all the time wish brighthouse
Apr 19, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: they've kept sending me emails to go paperless.. i always ignored them
Apr 19, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: but this time I replyed asking why I should since it's going to save them money and save me nada
    Apr 19, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: Good call
Apr 19, 2015 1:50 PM - Bill Monroe: so they said if I would, they'd lower my rate
Apr 19, 2015 1:50 PM - Bill Monroe: you're now chatting with a guy who's satellite bill for his hanger is $5 less each month! :)
Apr 19, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: I just say I'm going to switch providers. Then they always give me a special rate they have going on
Apr 19, 2015 1:51 PM - Printed Solid: saweet! that's how many cups of cofee? :)
Apr 19, 2015 1:51 PM - Printed Solid: yeah, the switching thing is what I've heard.
Apr 19, 2015 1:51 PM - Bill Monroe: not easy to do inside a secured airport on top of a metal hanger
    Apr 19, 2015 1:51 PM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. I dont drink that swill :)
    Apr 19, 2015 1:51 PM - jbigler1986: 0 If you go to Starbucks
Apr 19, 2015 1:52 PM - Printed Solid: no kids then?
    Apr 19, 2015 1:52 PM - Bill Monroe: but that's like.. 4-5 grams of XT huh? :)
Apr 19, 2015 1:52 PM - Bill Monroe: mine are all gone and grown
    Apr 19, 2015 1:52 PM - jbigler1986: I have a 4 and 7 year old
Apr 19, 2015 1:53 PM - Bill Monroe: perfect ages.. lots of fun
Apr 19, 2015 1:53 PM - Printed Solid: 5 and 2 here. I never really drank coffee before the kids.
Apr 19, 2015 1:53 PM - Printed Solid: yeah, I could see that. mine are getting pretty fun
    Apr 19, 2015 1:53 PM - Bill Monroe: T Ball!
    Apr 19, 2015 1:54 PM - jbigler1986: I just got mine going in soccer
Apr 19, 2015 1:54 PM - Bill Monroe: bah.. should be paid a visit by CPS
Apr 19, 2015 1:54 PM - Bill Monroe: are they both girls?
Apr 19, 2015 1:54 PM - jbigler1986: So fun watching them play. Definitely an undesirable experience
    Apr 19, 2015 1:55 PM - jbigler1986: I have 2 boys
Apr 19, 2015 1:55 PM - Bill Monroe: ..and you make them play that? I'm calling CPS
Apr 19, 2015 1:55 PM - Printed Solid: girls here.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:55 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Apr 19, 2015 1:55 PM - Bill Monroe: I guess at least it's not hockey
Apr 19, 2015 1:55 PM - Printed Solid: getting ready to give this a go on the robo.
    Apr 19, 2015 1:56 PM - Printed Solid:
Apr 19, 2015 1:56 PM - Printed Solid: and we can't paste pics in here I guess
Apr 19, 2015 1:56 PM - Printed Solid: dizingof 3d voronoi deer head. for a local art event.
Apr 19, 2015 1:56 PM - Bill Monroe: you can if it's hosted somewhere
Apr 19, 2015 1:57 PM - Printed Solid: already failed on the ultimaker, but I'm hoping S3D can do better. I've never gotten S3D working right.
Apr 19, 2015 1:57 PM - Printed Solid: he sent it to me.
Apr 19, 2015 1:58 PM - Printed Solid: hm. either of you know how to tell S3D to only print supports where they touch the plate?
Apr 19, 2015 2:00 PM - Bill Monroe: you could do manual ones
Apr 19, 2015 2:01 PM - jbigler1986: I would just do manual or let it add then delete what you don't need
Apr 19, 2015 2:01 PM - Printed Solid: I am. It's just a PITA. I normally start with auto and manually adjust. This just filled it all in. too much to delete.
Apr 19, 2015 2:02 PM - Bill Monroe: some solids require a lot of work that way but it's the best thing to do....
    Apr 19, 2015 2:02 PM - Printed Solid: ya.
Apr 19, 2015 2:02 PM - Bill Monroe: i've done some art stuff that was so complex, I had to elevate it completely off the surface, the rotate it around to minimize support..
Apr 19, 2015 2:02 PM - jbigler1986: Matt if you do end up sending stuff just let me know so I can expect stuff
Apr 19, 2015 2:03 PM - Printed Solid: ironically, ultimaker did quite well on the treacherous voronoi part, but screwed up the horns.
Apr 19, 2015 2:03 PM - Bill Monroe: best to use a raft when that happens.. just the supports touching isnt enough
    Apr 19, 2015 2:03 PM - Printed Solid: I'll email you. you'll get a tracking number too.
Apr 19, 2015 2:03 PM - Printed Solid: I think I'm going to do just supports touching and then reinforce the base with glue.
    Apr 19, 2015 2:04 PM - jbigler1986: K. S3d is overkill on support sometimes
Apr 19, 2015 2:04 PM - Printed Solid: This one there is just no decent way to rotate it. I've tried that approach as well. default orientation is best, but still ugly.
    Apr 19, 2015 2:05 PM - jbigler1986: Care to share the file
Apr 19, 2015 2:06 PM - Printed Solid: can't. he was pretty clear about that.
Apr 19, 2015 2:07 PM - Printed Solid: I think someone else did something similar on thingiverse though.
    Apr 19, 2015 2:07 PM - Printed Solid: http://www.3dizingof.com/3D-Printing/shop/for-home-3d-printers/3d-voronoi-deer/
Apr 19, 2015 2:07 PM - Printed Solid: It's actually great on the robo because of the big xy
Apr 19, 2015 2:07 PM - Printed Solid: so hopefully it can pull it off.
    Apr 19, 2015 2:08 PM - Bill Monroe: that's screaming for a dissolvable
Apr 19, 2015 2:08 PM - Bill Monroe: or SLA
    Apr 19, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Glass: I say shoot a real deer.
    Apr 19, 2015 2:08 PM - Bill Monroe: that too :)
Apr 19, 2015 2:09 PM - Printed Solid: shoot it a lot of times :)
Apr 19, 2015 2:09 PM - Mike Glass: swiss deer
Apr 19, 2015 2:09 PM - Bill Monroe: you guys are making me hungry
Apr 19, 2015 2:09 PM - Printed Solid: dissolvable would be nice, but doing it without is kind of the point.
Apr 19, 2015 2:10 PM - Printed Solid: also screams for SLS
Apr 19, 2015 2:10 PM - Bill Monroe: bah.. I hate that power.... we had one for awhile.. lasted about 3 months before it got relegated to the storage
