May 22, 2015 9:30 PM - Bill Monroe: well, a lil while ago, yes
May 23, 2015 2:23 AM - bamhm182: Sorry if I was being a bit annoying yesterday. I just figured out what I was doing wrong. Originally, I didn't have the limit switches connected, so the x and the y always thought they were being pressed and that's why it wasn't going negative
May 23, 2015 2:24 AM - bamhm182: I plugged them in when I put it all back together, but I think I must have accidentally switched them around and plugged them into the wrong spots. Now it's all working again, so now I just have to calibrate them
May 23, 2015 4:27 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning

May 23, 2015 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: got a new one did ya?
    May 23, 2015 5:40 AM - jbigler1986: that i did
    May 23, 2015 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: didn't go for the wifi one though

    May 23, 2015 5:41 AM - jbigler1986: lifecam cinema hd
May 23, 2015 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: nice.. anxious to see how it looks
May 23, 2015 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: can i add a part to another part in SW? Like i want to line up this arm part to the main mount so i can cut the holes so they will line up
May 23, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: are you familiar with assemblies?
    May 23, 2015 5:43 AM - jbigler1986: nope
May 23, 2015 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: well, tighten you seatbelt
    May 23, 2015 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: it's tight
    May 23, 2015 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: file:new:assembly
May 23, 2015 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: dont close the part file
    May 23, 2015 5:45 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: on the left, you should see your part in a window labeled Part/Assembly to Insert
May 23, 2015 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: yep it has both parts that i need there
May 23, 2015 5:46 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, click on one, then move your cursur into the workspace
    May 23, 2015 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: you should see you part floating around following your surcor
May 23, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: err cursor
    May 23, 2015 5:47 AM - jbigler1986: i do
May 23, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: nice.. click anywhere to place it in the workspace
    May 23, 2015 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: done
May 23, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: great.. now. your part is just floating in space, you need to orient it so you can work on it effectively
    May 23, 2015 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 5:49 AM - Bill Monroe: it's fixed virtually, you wont be able to move it unless you "Float" it.. here's How:
    May 23, 2015 5:49 AM - jbigler1986: i'm ready
May 23, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: on the left, in the feature tree, you shouls see the title Assem1
    May 23, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: yes
May 23, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: go down the tree and you'see your part file preceeded by (f)
    May 23, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: that means it's "fixed". to float it, right-click on the (f), then go down the popup until you see "float" click on that and the (f) should disappear
    May 23, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: done
May 23, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: sweet.. now you're going to orient your part so it's in a known place
May 23, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: clcik on the + next to your part in the feature tree to expand it
    May 23, 2015 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: you'll see all the stuff that was there when you just had your part open
    May 23, 2015 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: yes i do
May 23, 2015 5:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: This is exciting, JB is going to mate for the first time
May 23, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: ok hold the control button down and click on the front plane at the top, and the front plane in the sxpanded area for your part
    May 23, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: BAhhaha.. <hiding eyes>
    May 23, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: 3rd time. already have 2 kids
May 23, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: got those two selected?
    May 23, 2015 5:55 AM - jbigler1986: yep
May 23, 2015 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, at the top.. insert:mate
May 23, 2015 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: left side menu pops up
May 23, 2015 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: pick coincident
May 23, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: then accept it by picking the green check
    May 23, 2015 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: you should have seen your part scooch oooooooooooover and alight it's front plane with the front plane of your assembly
May 23, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: whoa.. chat room barfed
May 23, 2015 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: anyway.. did you see it go?
May 23, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: 1 sec. acidentally closed it. let me repeat steps
    May 23, 2015 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: k
May 23, 2015 6:03 AM - jbigler1986: ok. should i have both parts there now?
May 23, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: best to get one oriented first
    May 23, 2015 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: ok. got it
May 23, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: ok so now you should have both front planes coincident.. yes?
    May 23, 2015 6:04 AM - jbigler1986: yes they are
May 23, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: ol, do the same thing with the top and right planes
    May 23, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: k
    May 23, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: done
May 23, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: ok so now you first part is in a known place.. front of the assembly is same as front of your part.. etc..
    May 23, 2015 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: sweet
May 23, 2015 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: is your next part file open?
    May 23, 2015 6:07 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 23, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: ok at the top. insert:Component:Existing Part
    May 23, 2015 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: from the Assembly?
May 23, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: actuall no.. back out of that
    May 23, 2015 6:08 AM - jbigler1986: k
May 23, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: ok sorry.. got distracted.. 2.0 walked though....
May 23, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: ok.. one more time.. Insert:Component:Exsiting Part
May 23, 2015 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: left sire you should see the next part
May 23, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: click on it, then click in the workspace.. new part should be there

May 23, 2015 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: ok now the fun begins
May 23, 2015 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: just put it anywhere in the workspace for now
    May 23, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: yesy
    May 23, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: yes
May 23, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: as you mated the first part to the assembly planes..
May 23, 2015 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: you're now going to mate the new part to the first part
    May 23, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: ok
May 23, 2015 6:12 AM - jbigler1986: so follow the same steps as before
    May 23, 2015 6:12 AM - donhuevo: morning kids
May 23, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: at this point its going to be hard for me to give precise instructions since I dont knwo your parts.. but the idea here is to mate surfaces or features that would be aligned when you assembly is real and you're putting it together
May 23, 2015 6:13 AM - Bill Monroe: so any two surfaces that would touch would need to be coincidentally mated
May 23, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: there's LOTS of combinations possible, experimenting will eventually get you up to speed, but start by mating surfaces that would touch
    May 23, 2015 6:14 AM - jbigler1986: ok
May 23, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: This page is also really, really useful for learning Solidworks http://www.lynda.com/SOLIDWORKS-tutorials/SOLIDWORKS-2014-Essential-Training/143606-2.html
    May 23, 2015 6:14 AM - daniel871: Assuming you have a Lynda.com account
May 23, 2015 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: is it possible to just free move the part to where I want it?
May 23, 2015 6:17 AM - daniel871: Possible, but very finicky about going exactly where you think you're moving it without mates.
May 23, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: you can try but the reality is it'll not be in a known location
May 23, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: you're going to want to reference one part from another to locate holes and feature, etc...
May 23, 2015 6:18 AM - daniel871: Like, it may look like it's in the right place from one POV, but then you rotate view and realize it's actually 300 inches in front of your assembly or something.
May 23, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: oh i have them lined up along the top. do i have to create a new plane and mate them to move it left or right?
May 23, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: at this point, it's best to alight them with each other
May 23, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: can you save the assembly and send it to me?
    May 23, 2015 6:40 AM - jbigler1986: yeah
May 23, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: wait.. use the Pack and Go feature.. it's in the File selection at the top
    May 23, 2015 6:42 AM - jbigler1986: pm sent
    May 23, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: just sent the zip file
    May 23, 2015 6:44 AM - Bill Monroe: sweet
    May 23, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: the arm part isn't finished yet
May 23, 2015 6:44 AM - jbigler1986: was gonna finish it after i make the holes
May 23, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, I see where you going
    May 23, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: does that make sense
May 23, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: best thing to to now I think is to go back to your camera mount part and put the holes in it
May 23, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: the holes are in the mount they need to be in the arm. can i just extrude the hole longer so it goes through the arm where it is now
May 23, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: ok so you're wanting to align the parts, then transfer the hole location to the trident?
    May 23, 2015 6:52 AM - jbigler1986: yep
May 23, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: alright, we can do that but it will cuase a host of problems for you down the road..
May 23, 2015 6:53 AM - Bill Monroe: it would be better to put the holes in the trident now, then mate the holes..
May 23, 2015 6:54 AM - jbigler1986: well i'm good either way. i just want the holes so that the top of the arm lines up to the mounting part
May 23, 2015 6:55 AM - Mike Glass: what up boyz
May 23, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: it's kinda hard to explain but, if you locate the holes off another part.. then move the part, the holes will move too. yo can fix that but it's a little more complicated, and I dont want to get you too confused at this point
    May 23, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: MG
    May 23, 2015 6:57 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
May 23, 2015 7:00 AM - donhuevo: morning Mike. worked out my bearing issue. dropped the flowrate down to 90
May 23, 2015 7:00 AM - Mike Glass: Wow that much eh
    May 23, 2015 7:01 AM - donhuevo: 95 didn't work.
May 23, 2015 7:01 AM - Mike Glass: guess abs is like that...
    May 23, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: got it
    May 23, 2015 7:17 AM - Bill Monroe: nice!
May 23, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: just did it on the part itself then kept mating the holes. kept adjusting until i got it where i wanted it
    May 23, 2015 7:18 AM - Bill Monroe: perfect
May 23, 2015 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: more tedious but it did the trick
May 23, 2015 7:20 AM - Bill Monroe: time and experience and you'll find easier ways

    May 23, 2015 11:53 AM - jbigler1986: What did marquis do?
May 23, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: Im just getting ready to install the tslot board and oil err up.
May 23, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Glass: Btw if you happen to wipe your table down and the back side of your hand hits your mill bit, it cuts really good.
May 23, 2015 12:02 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] just picked this up, thinking using this for the Bobcat, fricken heavy.
May 23, 2015 12:03 PM - jbigler1986: Stupid filament guide. It's about time to design a new one
May 23, 2015 12:05 PM - Mike Kelly: marquis modified cura's pronterface UI for dual extruders
May 23, 2015 12:06 PM - Mike Kelly: how flat is it mike?
May 23, 2015 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: Nice. Just wanted you wanted MK
    May 23, 2015 12:10 PM - Mike Kelly: exactly
    May 23, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: is there a tube feature in SW?

May 23, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: when you do an extrude
May 23, 2015 12:13 PM - Mike Kelly: won't show up if you try and edit an existing extrusion
May 23, 2015 12:14 PM - Mike Kelly: you can also do a thin sweep if you're looking for a curved profile

    May 23, 2015 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah I would want it curved
May 23, 2015 12:25 PM - jbigler1986: No good solution is coming to mind
May 23, 2015 12:31 PM - Mike Kelly: What do you mean
    May 23, 2015 12:35 PM - jbigler1986: For a filament guide
    May 23, 2015 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:591821 modified version of that maybe
May 23, 2015 12:47 PM - Mike Kelly: Certainly interesting
May 23, 2015 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: i will download it and see how it looks
May 23, 2015 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: do you have any bearings JB?
May 23, 2015 1:25 PM - Printed Solid: what hearings do you need?
    May 23, 2015 1:25 PM - Printed Solid: I just ordered a dozen LM8UU. 8 extra
May 23, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Glass: I need to find some for 10mm rod I surplused from a scanner.
May 23, 2015 1:29 PM - Bill Monroe: Matt.. quick question
May 23, 2015 1:29 PM - Bill Monroe: are you aware of any filament that's UV resistant?
May 23, 2015 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: just put sunblock in your oiler
May 23, 2015 1:33 PM - Bill Monroe: nice.. but I dont use an oiler
May 23, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: aw me neither
May 23, 2015 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: guess we are screwed
May 23, 2015 1:34 PM - jbigler1986: i don't have any bearing. can always print some though. lol
May 23, 2015 1:34 PM - Bill Monroe: for the parts that matter, I've been using an aerothane paint with aluminum powder mixed in, which has proven to be good for 20+ years as long as the coating isnt compromised.. but It'd be nice if there was a filament that had a little resistance too
    May 23, 2015 1:35 PM - Mike Glass: PET?
May 23, 2015 1:35 PM - Bill Monroe: dunno.. I guess it might since plastic drinking botles seem to last forever
May 23, 2015 1:35 PM - Mike Glass: or petg maybe,
May 23, 2015 1:36 PM - Mike Glass: outlive me thats for sure..lol
    May 23, 2015 1:36 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
May 23, 2015 1:36 PM - Bill Monroe: I'd lik to make some scaled-down runway lights to line the road to my house.. but the desert sun means extra caution
May 23, 2015 1:37 PM - Bill Monroe: maybe I'll just make them from cast aluminum
May 23, 2015 1:38 PM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 would like that better
May 23, 2015 1:39 PM - Mike Glass: ohh I should show you something. brb
May 23, 2015 1:39 PM - Bill Monroe: great.. leave me hangin
    May 23, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
May 23, 2015 1:42 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, you didnt print that
May 23, 2015 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: haha no, but was thinking about it
May 23, 2015 1:43 PM - Bill Monroe: love it
May 23, 2015 1:43 PM - Bill Monroe: you should... hasta work
May 23, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Glass: should be fairly easy compared to the turd feeders
May 23, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 wants me to make bird houses shaped like teardrop trailers
May 23, 2015 1:45 PM - Mike Glass: I found a 2 piece teardrop one, but that would be interesting
May 23, 2015 1:46 PM - Bill Monroe: every stinkin birdhouse she makes gets taken over within hours of her hanging it
May 23, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: im curious if they will use these that I printed.
May 23, 2015 1:47 PM - Bill Monroe: houses or feeders?
    May 23, 2015 1:47 PM - Mike Glass: houses
May 23, 2015 1:48 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, she tells me the secret is to have a perch within 3 ft, and one at the door
May 23, 2015 1:48 PM - Bill Monroe: 3 ft so they can make a predator isnt watching, and one at the door to feed the babies
May 23, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: that makes sense
May 23, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: it must.. i watch them do it all the time.. right on target
May 23, 2015 1:49 PM - Mike Glass: oh well guess the wasp will like them..lol they have no perches
May 23, 2015 1:49 PM - Bill Monroe: oh, she just reminded me that the one she make to look like Miley Cyrus has so far been ignored
May 23, 2015 1:50 PM - Mike Glass: it has camel toe?
    May 23, 2015 1:50 PM - Bill Monroe: heh
May 23, 2015 1:51 PM - Bill Monroe: it's a gourd with eyes and wierd hair (that came from our golden) and a piece of driftwood that looks like her tongue for a perch.. it's pretty funny
May 23, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Glass: sounds like she keeps herself busy
    May 23, 2015 1:52 PM - Bill Monroe: that's the truth
    May 23, 2015 2:11 PM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
    May 23, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Glass: platapus?
May 23, 2015 2:14 PM - Bill Monroe: heh naw it's a bracket it's tall so I added some skirts for extra footing... I give it a 50-50 chance
May 23, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Glass: do they come off easy, or just dremel them off?
May 23, 2015 2:18 PM - Bill Monroe: the skirts will need to be cut off, they're .6 thick so a utility knife can handle it
May 23, 2015 2:19 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm not sure the support will make it either... shoud have reduces the horz offset but.. we'll see
    May 23, 2015 2:58 PM - jbigler1986: mount installed
May 23, 2015 2:59 PM - jbigler1986: gonna make a few changes to it soon. for now it's working fine. will stream in a little bit after i edit this part
    May 23, 2015 3:03 PM - Bill Monroe:
    May 23, 2015 3:24 PM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986

May 23, 2015 3:47 PM - Bill Monroe: your feed isnt working for me
May 23, 2015 3:47 PM - Bill Monroe: might be because I'm broadcasting too?
    May 23, 2015 3:52 PM - jbigler1986: Let me check
May 23, 2015 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: Works for me when I go to the link.
May 23, 2015 3:53 PM - Bill Monroe: ok lemme shut mine down and see what happens
    May 23, 2015 3:53 PM - jbigler1986: Shouldn't matter that you are broadcasting
May 23, 2015 3:55 PM - Bill Monroe: took awhile but the commercial started
May 23, 2015 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah it takes a while for some reason sometimes. No clue why
May 23, 2015 3:56 PM - Bill Monroe: got the vid.. real choppy
May 23, 2015 3:56 PM - jbigler1986: Weird. It's not for me at the link
    May 23, 2015 3:56 PM - Bill Monroe: nice box :)
May 23, 2015 3:57 PM - Bill Monroe: dunno what to say.. I've got bandwidth at ludicrous speed and everything else is truckin.. maybe there's a martian running a BBQ on the satellite
May 23, 2015 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. Idk. Working fine on my end
    May 23, 2015 3:58 PM - jbigler1986: Let me take a pic of it
    May 23, 2015 3:59 PM - Bill Monroe: I can see it.. it's just a slide-show speed
May 23, 2015 4:00 PM - Bill Monroe: gads it's nice to be done with that class
May 23, 2015 4:00 PM - Bill Monroe: i feel like I'm goofing off now
    May 23, 2015 4:03 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]

    May 23, 2015 4:32 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
May 23, 2015 4:34 PM - jbigler1986: Nice. You need to modify that so I can use it. Haha
May 23, 2015 4:36 PM - Bill Monroe: I'm sorry, I know it comes in at the wrong angle for you
May 23, 2015 4:37 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm doing it in Shaxon blue for now.. once I'm happy with it, I'll dress it up with plates and rivets and print it in Bronzefill
May 23, 2015 4:41 PM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 and my son's fiance' are facetiming about bikinis.. my gosh, it's gunna be rough when she moves in
May 23, 2015 4:44 PM - Bill Monroe: jb, when you were doing all your upgrades, did you mess with acceleration and jerk values in the firmware?
    May 23, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: I changed z speed. That was it
    May 23, 2015 5:09 PM - Bill Monroe: okie :)
May 23, 2015 5:14 PM - Bill Monroe: wow.. the stones concert isnt a sellout
    May 23, 2015 5:16 PM - jbigler1986: That's crazy
    May 23, 2015 5:16 PM - Bill Monroe: 300 tx still available
    May 23, 2015 5:16 PM - Bill Monroe: so, close enough I guess ;)

May 23, 2015 5:22 PM - Bill Monroe: August, to be exact
May 23, 2015 5:22 PM - Mike Glass: I was on the 12 step program

May 23, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Glass: just scored a truckload of free furniture. I have alot of work to do now.
    May 23, 2015 5:24 PM - jbigler1986: I'm going to knock back a bunch tomorrow while canoeing
    May 23, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Glass: nope I use repetier
May 23, 2015 5:24 PM - Mike Glass: oh my cam
    May 23, 2015 5:25 PM - Bill Monroe: cnc
May 23, 2015 5:25 PM - Mike Glass: Estlcam is what I use, I really like it and its free
    May 23, 2015 5:25 PM - Bill Monroe: same idea? parallel break-out?
May 23, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Glass: he actually has it coded to work with Arduino Uno, thats why I have to use repetier.
May 23, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Glass: I might switch it out for an uno, that would be nice.
May 23, 2015 5:26 PM - Mike Glass: running on ramps 1.4 now
May 23, 2015 5:27 PM - Bill Monroe: you're running your cnc machine on a ramps...
May 23, 2015 5:27 PM - Mike Glass: also using the 8825 drivers
    May 23, 2015 5:27 PM - Bill Monroe: omg
May 23, 2015 5:27 PM - Mike Glass: I now right, but it is getting popular
May 23, 2015 5:27 PM - Bill Monroe: it's too weak for serious CNC
May 23, 2015 5:28 PM - Mike Glass: The whole project was based of the robo.
    May 23, 2015 5:28 PM - Bill Monroe: Marlin?
    May 23, 2015 5:28 PM - Mike Glass: yup
May 23, 2015 5:28 PM - Bill Monroe: yikes.. ok
May 23, 2015 5:28 PM - Mike Glass: its not a true cnc, its a multitool remember
May 23, 2015 5:28 PM - Bill Monroe: i was actually wondering what stepper drivers you were using but, you answered that :)
May 23, 2015 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. true.. actually one project I have it would probably be good for
May 23, 2015 5:29 PM - Mike Glass: Tormach is on my list for a real cnc
May 23, 2015 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: mine too
May 23, 2015 5:29 PM - Bill Monroe: but to be sure, even that's not "real" but real enough
May 23, 2015 5:30 PM - Mike Glass: but this is great tool for learning, as im still new to this all besides my carvright cnc
May 23, 2015 5:30 PM - Bill Monroe: i made an offer on a HASS that's in storage.. wearing the guy down now :)
    May 23, 2015 5:30 PM - jbigler1986: Go all out and get a hurco
May 23, 2015 5:30 PM - Mike Glass: to small
May 23, 2015 5:31 PM - Bill Monroe: but I think I'll just settle for the tormach...
May 23, 2015 5:31 PM - Bill Monroe: hurco.. dont they have meds for that now?
    May 23, 2015 5:31 PM - jbigler1986: 5 axis? That would be amazing
    May 23, 2015 5:32 PM - Bill Monroe: 15K for 4 axis w/toolchanger.. hard to beat
    May 23, 2015 5:33 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    May 23, 2015 5:33 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    May 23, 2015 5:34 PM - jbigler1986: Anybody used a water jet?
May 23, 2015 5:34 PM - Bill Monroe: ya. got one at work
    May 23, 2015 5:34 PM - Bill Monroe: messy
    May 23, 2015 5:34 PM - jbigler1986: I was just curious
May 23, 2015 5:34 PM - Mike Glass: waterjets are nice if you are strickly metal
May 23, 2015 5:35 PM - Bill Monroe: they work well on fiberglass too.. we used one to cut out pcb boards
May 23, 2015 5:36 PM - Mike Glass: the custom bike builder use them like OCC
May 23, 2015 5:36 PM - Bill Monroe: they're like boats.. even when you dont use them they decay and are a constant maintenance headache
May 23, 2015 5:37 PM - Bill Monroe: I only like one of the OCC bikes.. the rest were just gaudy messes imho
May 23, 2015 5:37 PM - jbigler1986: I hate them. I like some of the ones the son has done when he went out on his own
May 23, 2015 5:37 PM - Mike Glass: what about jesse james bike, I have a buddy that has one, seems to be pretty solid
    May 23, 2015 5:38 PM - jbigler1986: He has some I like too
May 23, 2015 5:38 PM - Bill Monroe: JJ bikes are robust
May 23, 2015 5:38 PM - Mike Glass: spendy though
May 23, 2015 5:39 PM - Bill Monroe: but that is the biggest idiot that walks on 2 feet
May 23, 2015 5:41 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm past the 2-wheeler faze.. I'm keeping the bike my dad bought new when he got out of the navy.. but my sportster is on the market
May 23, 2015 5:46 PM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 and her sister just dared each other to flash jaggar tomorrow :)
May 23, 2015 5:48 PM - jbigler1986: What is happening at ur house Bill
    May 23, 2015 5:48 PM - Bill Monroe: lots of estrogen :)
May 23, 2015 5:49 PM - Bill Monroe: her sister married money.. he's a huge stones fan so he got us all tix..
May 23, 2015 5:50 PM - Bill Monroe: they live in Montana so they're staying with us, for the concert tomorrow
May 23, 2015 5:51 PM - Bill Monroe: the two of them dont see each other a lot so it's like a giggly girl bonanza
May 23, 2015 5:53 PM - Bill Monroe: they must have talked about shoes for three hours
May 23, 2015 5:57 PM - Mike Glass: where in MT

May 23, 2015 5:59 PM - Mike Glass: between bozeman and billings
    May 23, 2015 5:59 PM - Bill Monroe: ok :) still dont know :)
May 23, 2015 6:00 PM - Bill Monroe: he said something about stankwater.. but I gather it was out of sarcasm
    May 23, 2015 6:01 PM - Mike Glass: stillwater
May 23, 2015 6:02 PM - Bill Monroe: nice there?

    May 23, 2015 8:33 PM - Bill Monroe: hang on, I'll check
May 23, 2015 8:34 PM - Bill Monroe: ok, the girls uncorked some wine so, I should be left alone now :)
    May 23, 2015 8:36 PM - jbigler1986: Lol. That is true
May 23, 2015 8:36 PM - jbigler1986: Once the wine opens it's gossip for hours
May 23, 2015 8:36 PM - Bill Monroe: those two are something
May 23, 2015 8:52 PM - Mike Glass: What up

May 23, 2015 8:53 PM - Bill Monroe: you got some tiny cutters?
May 23, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Glass: 1/32 dremel cutters, but like the 1/8 milling bits, they are much sharper
May 23, 2015 8:55 PM - Mike Glass: I need to make adapter so I can use my carvewright cutting tools
May 23, 2015 8:55 PM - Bill Monroe: i need to make a couple of medallions... cliosonne
May 23, 2015 8:56 PM - Bill Monroe: normally they're coined.. but I cant justify making the dies, so I thought cutting them with a tiny bit might work
May 23, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Glass: I have a brass knob that I want put our logo on so I can burn it in our furniture.
    May 23, 2015 9:01 PM - Bill Monroe: nice
May 23, 2015 9:02 PM - Mike Glass: need a good low profile vice

    May 23, 2015 9:02 PM - Mike Glass: no
May 23, 2015 9:04 PM - Bill Monroe: it's a very low melting temp metal that, in the old days, was often use to fixtre difficult piences
May 23, 2015 9:04 PM - Bill Monroe: let me see if I can find a link
May 23, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Glass: you mean cerrobend?
    May 23, 2015 9:05 PM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/311359178333?lpid=82&chn=ps
May 23, 2015 9:06 PM - Bill Monroe: its gone by many names over the years
May 23, 2015 9:07 PM - Mike Glass: also know as wood's metal? looks cool
May 23, 2015 9:08 PM - Bill Monroe: i have an aluminum box that I machined nice and square from solid.. rig your part in the box, melt some of that metal in a can using a torch or stove.. pour it in the box
May 23, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Glass: making metal inlays in wood also, neat stuff
May 23, 2015 9:09 PM - Bill Monroe: it cools and grabs the part.. put the box in a vise away you go..
May 23, 2015 9:09 PM - Bill Monroe: then your down warm it back up and it call comes off
    May 23, 2015 9:09 PM - Bill Monroe: down=done
May 23, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: look like you can melt if from steam
May 23, 2015 9:10 PM - Bill Monroe: ya..it'll melt if you stare at it hard enough :)
May 23, 2015 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: sell it at walmart?
May 23, 2015 9:10 PM - Bill Monroe: i used to make spoons from it and put them in a cup for customers to use for their coffee... loads of fun when they pull it out :)
May 23, 2015 9:10 PM - Bill Monroe: heh no, only on the internet now
    May 23, 2015 9:11 PM - Bill Monroe: I've had 5-6 pounds of if since the 60s..
May 23, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Glass: is it heavy like lead?
May 23, 2015 9:12 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, pretty heavy
May 23, 2015 9:12 PM - Bill Monroe: really dampens nice..
May 23, 2015 9:14 PM - Bill Monroe: its various combos of tin, antimony, bismuth, lead, etc.. probably more toxic than 3 mile island
    May 23, 2015 9:15 PM - Mike Glass: lol
May 23, 2015 9:15 PM - Mike Glass: if it aint toxic it's probably a plant
May 23, 2015 9:15 PM - Bill Monroe: that's the advantage of growing up with WWII era machinists.. you learn all kinds of neat tricks
May 23, 2015 9:21 PM - Mike Glass: Might have to try that with some pine beetle tables im making
    May 24, 2015 12:05 AM - TechSupportGo: anyone up
May 24, 2015 4:16 AM - Bill Monroe: I cant believe everyone is sleeping away a perfectly good Sunday
    May 24, 2015 4:27 AM - jbigler1986: Oh no
May 24, 2015 4:27 AM - jbigler1986: On my way to go canoeing. Usually have like 12 canoes.
May 24, 2015 4:27 AM - Bill Monroe: Good Morning
    May 24, 2015 4:27 AM - Bill Monroe: fun
May 24, 2015 4:28 AM - jbigler1986: My 1 day of the year that I usually get hammered
May 24, 2015 7:17 AM - Mike Glass: Happy Sunday
    May 24, 2015 7:17 AM - donhuevo: ditto!
May 24, 2015 7:24 AM - donhuevo: finally printing with bridge
    May 24, 2015 7:35 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    May 24, 2015 7:35 AM - donhuevo: morning Bill
May 24, 2015 7:45 AM - Stargrove1: Hi, is there anyone who has experience with a deltaprinter?
May 24, 2015 7:47 AM - donhuevo: I started to build one but I'm probably not far enough along to be of any help
    May 24, 2015 7:47 AM - Stargrove1: Which one are you building?
May 24, 2015 7:47 AM - Bill Monroe: I used to work for Delta Airlines
    May 24, 2015 7:47 AM - donhuevo: homemade
    May 24, 2015 7:48 AM - Stargrove1: Not exactly what I meant Bill ;-)
    May 24, 2015 7:48 AM - Bill Monroe: well, I offer what I can :)
May 24, 2015 7:49 AM - donhuevo: I've watched every one of Werner Berry's youtube videos
May 24, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: did you get a picture of your gear Don
    May 24, 2015 8:10 AM - donhuevo: picture?
    May 24, 2015 8:10 AM - donhuevo: was I supposed to?
May 24, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: yea you know theose things that take snapshots of time standing still?
May 24, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: Wait you need to do video of it, 4k will be fine..lol
    May 24, 2015 8:15 AM - donhuevo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
    May 24, 2015 8:19 AM - donhuevo: not quite 4k. sorry.
May 24, 2015 8:23 AM - Mike Glass: did you do it in bridge
May 24, 2015 8:24 AM - donhuevo: that's what's streaming now. First attempt with bridge
May 24, 2015 8:24 AM - Mike Glass: Oh I thought you printed it already.
May 24, 2015 8:24 AM - donhuevo: I did successfully get a bridge golf tee
May 24, 2015 8:25 AM - Mike Glass: I can print like 10-20mm then it fails for me, I need a v6 to I guess.
    May 24, 2015 8:25 AM - donhuevo: I have a v5
May 24, 2015 8:26 AM - donhuevo: what sort of adhesion are you using?
    May 24, 2015 8:26 AM - donhuevo: or I should ask how it's failing
May 24, 2015 8:28 AM - Mike Glass: Adhesion is great with wood glue, it just gets tangled in the hob after awhile.
May 24, 2015 8:29 AM - donhuevo: yep. I found I had to increase compression onto the hob. It wanted to slip in there
May 24, 2015 8:30 AM - donhuevo: I did forget to cut back on my flow rate for this print. We'll see if it's a bearing or a hockey puck
May 24, 2015 8:32 AM - Mike Glass: how fast is that
    May 24, 2015 8:32 AM - donhuevo: 100ish
    May 24, 2015 8:33 AM - donhuevo: maybe 80ish
May 24, 2015 8:37 AM - donhuevo: did your nozzle drool a lot when you were at temp?
    May 24, 2015 8:39 AM - Mike Glass: yea, think I was at 243
    May 24, 2015 8:40 AM - donhuevo: I backed off to 235
May 24, 2015 8:41 AM - Mike Glass: I was just seeing if it was my temp that was causing it to fail, but think it is just the heatbreak is too small for imperfections of nylon
May 24, 2015 8:42 AM - donhuevo: from what I read it's a sponge. I'm wondering how much taking on water affects its diameter
May 24, 2015 8:42 AM - Mike Glass: I have no humidity here, so I doubt that, and it was fresh out of the package when I printed.
May 24, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Glass: Printing the raven skull with brown sharpie for color. http://vaughnlive.tv/coolreactions
    May 24, 2015 8:46 AM - donhuevo: very cool!
May 24, 2015 8:46 AM - donhuevo: here's how much filament I have exposed in my cold end... [IMG]
May 24, 2015 8:51 AM - Mike Glass: is that a printed plastic v bearing?
    May 24, 2015 8:52 AM - donhuevo: no. it's a Trinity Labs hobbed pulley
May 24, 2015 8:53 AM - donhuevo: its sucks they went under.
May 24, 2015 8:54 AM - donhuevo: and it sucks I only bought two of them
May 24, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: oh, I see now. looks black
    May 24, 2015 8:54 AM - donhuevo: it is
    May 24, 2015 8:54 AM - Mike Glass: cool
May 24, 2015 8:56 AM - donhuevo: I'm just thinking that may be why I'm not bunching at the hob. there's nowhere for it to bend
    May 24, 2015 8:56 AM - Bill Monroe: back
May 24, 2015 8:56 AM - donhuevo: did you leave?
May 24, 2015 8:58 AM - Bill Monroe: kinda.. was cleaning the lab
May 24, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: thats what your calling it now:)
    May 24, 2015 8:59 AM - Bill Monroe: umm.. that's what I've always called it :)
May 24, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: next he'll be 'seasoning his extruder'
    May 24, 2015 9:00 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 did that already :)
May 24, 2015 9:00 AM - Mike Glass: guess thats better then changing your nozzle
May 24, 2015 9:00 AM - donhuevo: you can never have enough seasoning
May 24, 2015 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: those two made a dent in the wine cabinet last night
May 24, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: are they actually up yet
May 24, 2015 9:02 AM - Bill Monroe: up?!? they already left shopping!

May 24, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: 2.0 is more than one person?
May 24, 2015 9:08 AM - Bill Monroe: heh I dont know if I could handle that.. her sister is in town for the concert tonight
    May 24, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: gotcha
May 24, 2015 9:09 AM - donhuevo: I had trouble carrying the one there
    May 24, 2015 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
May 24, 2015 9:09 AM - Bill Monroe: apparently during the wine they decided they didnt have the right jackets for the concert...
    May 24, 2015 9:12 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
May 24, 2015 9:14 AM - donhuevo: what is it?
May 24, 2015 9:15 AM - Bill Monroe: last part for my filament guide.. complex to print, using a raft and supports
    May 24, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: nice
May 24, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: o_O ok do you have a picture of what it suppose to look like?
May 24, 2015 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: the whole thing or the part it's printing now?
    May 24, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: the whole 9 yards
May 24, 2015 9:17 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, hang on a sec
    May 24, 2015 9:18 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
May 24, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: what does it attach too
May 24, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: spring clip into the robo lid's slot?
May 24, 2015 9:19 AM - Bill Monroe: it clips to the top of the cover.
May 24, 2015 9:19 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, you got it
May 24, 2015 9:19 AM - Bill Monroe: reel on the table next to it
May 24, 2015 9:22 AM - Bill Monroe: mike, you're using marlin on the cnc yes?
May 24, 2015 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: Yes Marlin
May 24, 2015 9:23 AM - Bill Monroe: what did you do to fake out the thermistor error?
    May 24, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: resistor
May 24, 2015 9:23 AM - Bill Monroe: oh (duh) of course
May 24, 2015 9:24 AM - Bill Monroe: so you set the slicer for what temp?
    May 24, 2015 9:24 AM - Mike Glass: 0 i believe
May 24, 2015 9:25 AM - Bill Monroe: k i thought that Marlin might want to wait till it got to zero.. but I guess it would depend on what temp Marlin thought the resistor was making
May 24, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: I might of disable it also I will have to look at the code again.
May 24, 2015 9:26 AM - Bill Monroe: just curious
May 24, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: dont bother for me
May 24, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i thought about stripping all the 3D specific stuff from Marlin but faking it out might be easier
    May 24, 2015 9:27 AM - Bill Monroe: but I think I'm just going to use Mach3
May 24, 2015 9:28 AM - donhuevo: I'll bet all you'd need to do is disable the dangerous extrusion code
May 24, 2015 9:29 AM - Bill Monroe: hmm well something needs to make Marlin think the temp is ready
May 24, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Glass: there was 4 things I think he did in code for the 8825 drivers and then the I had to enable the lcd screen.
May 24, 2015 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: which screen did you use?
May 24, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Glass: just the cheapo $14 full graphics
May 24, 2015 9:32 AM - Bill Monroe: ah ya, that would take some marlin foolin :)
May 24, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Glass: Jb helped me with that, have the same on my robo
May 24, 2015 9:34 AM - Bill Monroe: gads I love the way this printer is working now
May 24, 2015 9:34 AM - donhuevo: search the word dangerous in configuration.h
May 24, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: time to go thatch and aerate the yard, bbl
    May 24, 2015 9:43 AM - Bill Monroe: nice
May 24, 2015 11:53 AM - donhuevo: this stuff warps as bad as ABfnS. Trying painter's tape now. The Elmer's failed.
May 24, 2015 11:56 AM - Bill Monroe: which stuff?
    May 24, 2015 11:57 AM - donhuevo: Taulman Bridge
    May 24, 2015 11:57 AM - Bill Monroe: ah
May 24, 2015 11:58 AM - donhuevo: almost 30 layers in and holding this time.
May 24, 2015 11:58 AM - Bill Monroe: did you try adding some local skirts?
May 24, 2015 11:59 AM - donhuevo: this wouldn't really be conducive to that http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:53451
May 24, 2015 12:00 PM - Bill Monroe: I see what you mean
May 24, 2015 12:00 PM - Bill Monroe: ABS will never work satisfactorily on a Robo
    May 24, 2015 12:00 PM - Bill Monroe: a stock one anyway
May 24, 2015 12:01 PM - Bill Monroe: my other machine I made for ABS, it's awesome
May 24, 2015 12:01 PM - donhuevo: I occasionally get Okidata dot matrix printers in my office with worn nylon gears and thought it would be cool to be able to print replacements
May 24, 2015 12:01 PM - donhuevo: I have an idea for an enclosed printer that I hope to build one day
May 24, 2015 12:02 PM - donhuevo: I want to start with one of those glass wine coolers maybe a 16 bottle version
May 24, 2015 12:02 PM - Bill Monroe: that's what it takes.. I'm going to make one more large one with two X carriages, then start plaing with SLA
May 24, 2015 12:03 PM - donhuevo: the printer style where the bed moves along the z instead of y
May 24, 2015 12:04 PM - Bill Monroe: ya on three screws
    May 24, 2015 12:04 PM - donhuevo: yep
May 24, 2015 12:04 PM - donhuevo: should be able to get a nice build volume inside one of those fridges
    May 24, 2015 12:05 PM - Bill Monroe: heh I just use 80/20 strut
    May 24, 2015 12:06 PM - donhuevo: that's substantial
    May 24, 2015 12:06 PM - Bill Monroe: i get it cheap
    May 24, 2015 12:07 PM - donhuevo: rock solid I imagine
May 24, 2015 12:07 PM - Bill Monroe: the country's largest stocking/fabricating distributor is 10 miles from here.. he hires my h/s engineering class kids for summer interns.. has a cut-off area where he sells it by the pound
May 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Bill Monroe: very, very solid and if you can cut it super-square, true as a surface plate
May 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Bill Monroe: makes very square and tram foundations for all kids of machines
    May 24, 2015 12:08 PM - Bill Monroe: kinds
May 24, 2015 12:08 PM - donhuevo: learned some tricks for squaring up saws back in my carpentry days
May 24, 2015 12:10 PM - donhuevo: well one trick
May 24, 2015 12:10 PM - Bill Monroe: im not changing anything else on my Robo though.. my gosh the prints are coming out amazing, even with cheap filament
May 24, 2015 12:11 PM - donhuevo: I started with one at the end of their kickstarter. Be glad you waited
May 24, 2015 12:11 PM - Bill Monroe: i never by *anything* that's been crowdfunded
May 24, 2015 12:12 PM - donhuevo: it was the cheapest way for me to get into 3d printing but in retrospect, I've probably put that much into it since then
May 24, 2015 12:13 PM - Bill Monroe: I started with an obsolete Stratasys machine... got it broken
May 24, 2015 12:13 PM - donhuevo: is it ok to call you a lucky bastard?
May 24, 2015 12:14 PM - Bill Monroe: gutted all the tronics and replaced it with a Galil contoller and wrote Labview code for it.. it's still working
May 24, 2015 12:14 PM - Bill Monroe: i was lucky.. they were pushing it past my lab for scrap.. I jumped in front of them :)
    May 24, 2015 12:14 PM - donhuevo: well, yeah
May 24, 2015 12:14 PM - donhuevo: how could you not
    May 24, 2015 12:15 PM - Bill Monroe: I could not
May 24, 2015 12:15 PM - Bill Monroe: originally I was going to gut it for the mechanicals, but then.....
    May 24, 2015 12:15 PM - donhuevo: yep
May 24, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: so I'm going to have to work out a storage system for this bridge filament. An airtight container with a spool holder inside and a way to attach a ptfe tube from the container to my cold end. Minimize atmospheric exposure. Leave enough room in the bottom for calcium chloride
May 24, 2015 12:30 PM - Bill Monroe: all of stratasys's filaments come in airtight cartrisges with dessicant
    May 24, 2015 12:30 PM - Bill Monroe: so do Davinci's
May 24, 2015 12:31 PM - Bill Monroe: My ABS machines has the carts locate under the printer in the hot zone
May 24, 2015 12:31 PM - Bill Monroe: (one reason the prints dont shrink) :)
    May 24, 2015 12:32 PM - donhuevo: makes sense
May 24, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: from what I gather, nylon filament would make a kickass dessicant
May 24, 2015 12:34 PM - Bill Monroe: funny huh
    May 24, 2015 12:34 PM - donhuevo: yep
May 24, 2015 12:35 PM - Bill Monroe: I buy dessicant for a gadget I mad eto keep the inside of my plane's engine dry when it's in the hanger.. I uses the same stuff inside the boxes for my filaments.. changes color when it's not drya anymore
    May 24, 2015 12:36 PM - donhuevo: that's helpful
    May 24, 2015 12:36 PM - donhuevo: reusable?
May 24, 2015 12:38 PM - Bill Monroe: the dryer uses an aquarium air pump to move dry air into the engine, and back into the dessicant.. a sensor hooked to an arduino tells when it's damp enough, stop the pump and turns on a 100W light bulb buried in the beads...
May 24, 2015 12:38 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, dry out in an oven or lightbulb like the one in the hanger

    May 24, 2015 12:39 PM - donhuevo: 50 of 75 layers and still no warp. I think I'm good
May 24, 2015 12:39 PM - Bill Monroe: made one for the model A too :)
    May 24, 2015 12:39 PM - Bill Monroe: sweet
May 24, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: did you find that entry in the configuration.h?
May 24, 2015 12:41 PM - Bill Monroe: oh no.. I've been working on stuff... hang on.. what to seach for?
    May 24, 2015 12:41 PM - donhuevo: dangerous
    May 24, 2015 12:42 PM - Bill Monroe: okya.. hold 1
May 24, 2015 12:42 PM - donhuevo: my guess is all you need to do is comment out that one line and it'll go regardless of what it thinks the extruder temp is
May 24, 2015 12:43 PM - Bill Monroe: oh.. nice!
May 24, 2015 12:43 PM - donhuevo: just a guess but I feel good about it
May 24, 2015 12:44 PM - donhuevo: did the girls come back with the perfect concert jackets?
May 24, 2015 12:46 PM - donhuevo: or shoes? or more wine
May 24, 2015 12:46 PM - Bill Monroe: no, they decided their jackets were ok after all.. the went shoe shopping but didnt get anything
May 24, 2015 12:47 PM - Bill Monroe: it's not the end that's the mission.. it's the mission itself :)
May 24, 2015 12:47 PM - donhuevo: women. For men it's hunt it, kill it, drag it home
May 24, 2015 12:47 PM - Bill Monroe: the bgood news is, I dont have to go to the concert :)
May 24, 2015 12:48 PM - donhuevo: don't think I heard who the artist is
May 24, 2015 12:48 PM - Bill Monroe: Rollinbg Stones workd tour opener
    May 24, 2015 12:48 PM - donhuevo: I'd skip that too
May 24, 2015 12:50 PM - Bill Monroe: I lke them well enough, and sister's husband paid as much as a new car for the 4 tickets, but I dont want seats next to the runway... people jam in there blocking your view unless you stand up and dance too
May 24, 2015 12:50 PM - Bill Monroe: he got sick so I was going to be the "guy" alone...
May 24, 2015 12:51 PM - Bill Monroe: I talked them into inviting a couple of their freinds from school. so now it's girl expedition
May 24, 2015 12:51 PM - donhuevo: good for them
May 24, 2015 12:52 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. might see them on youtube though.. they dared each other to flash Jaggar :)
May 24, 2015 12:52 PM - Bill Monroe: and they WILL do it
    May 24, 2015 12:52 PM - donhuevo: haha
May 24, 2015 12:52 PM - donhuevo: be glad it's not a Tom Jones concert. They'd be coming back commando
    May 24, 2015 12:52 PM - Bill Monroe: <chuckle>
May 24, 2015 12:53 PM - Bill Monroe: I'd want to see that, but I saw everything in the Jacuzzi last night so, I'll wait for the video :)
May 24, 2015 12:53 PM - donhuevo: I have to figure your phone is going to blow up the whole time
May 24, 2015 12:54 PM - Bill Monroe: oh.. i hadnt thought about that.. wonder if I can get her to send me flashing pics??
May 24, 2015 12:54 PM - Bill Monroe: eh probably not.. they'll be in the zone
May 24, 2015 12:55 PM - Bill Monroe: my C++ professor would have bled all over this.h file
May 24, 2015 12:56 PM - donhuevo: at least they didn't skimp on the comments
May 24, 2015 12:57 PM - Bill Monroe: oh he likes that... but he's all about style, protability, and adhernce to ansi standard.. working code? not so much ;)
May 24, 2015 12:57 PM - Bill Monroe: he told me yesterday if I didnt do another assignment the worst I'd get is a B
May 24, 2015 12:57 PM - Bill Monroe: so now I'm studying more relaxed, the things I want to learn in depth
    May 24, 2015 12:58 PM - donhuevo: wait... you're learning C++ now?
May 24, 2015 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: i know it fairly well aready... but taking the classes for certs
    May 24, 2015 12:58 PM - donhuevo: gotcha
    May 24, 2015 12:59 PM - Bill Monroe: 16 more units and I can get a third bachelor's degree too :)
    May 24, 2015 12:59 PM - donhuevo: that's cool
May 24, 2015 1:00 PM - Bill Monroe: my son is out of the army in 4 weeks, moving back home to finish school.. he'll need to take this class so, seemed like a good time to get the certs and refresh so I can help him
    May 24, 2015 1:01 PM - donhuevo: good plan
    May 24, 2015 1:01 PM - donhuevo: C# next?
May 24, 2015 1:01 PM - Bill Monroe: it also means I'll probably not see the robo again :)
May 24, 2015 1:01 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. C# is more than I need.. I'm staying down on the hardware :)
May 24, 2015 1:01 PM - donhuevo: maybe make a rule that he can only use the robo long enough to print his own printer
May 24, 2015 1:02 PM - donhuevo: I had to dabble in C# for my netduino
May 24, 2015 1:02 PM - Bill Monroe: never know with that guy.. he's pretty amazinf
    May 24, 2015 1:03 PM - Bill Monroe: really?
    May 24, 2015 1:03 PM - donhuevo: yep. it's .NET
May 24, 2015 1:04 PM - Bill Monroe: I did not know that
May 24, 2015 1:04 PM - Bill Monroe: my son is using ethernet shields.. and something called AJAX
May 24, 2015 1:04 PM - Bill Monroe: i have no idea what that is
May 24, 2015 1:06 PM - donhuevo: AJAX isn't a big deal. It's javascript mostly talking to a server side script in PHP or whatever the web server supports. It's a way of refreshing part of an html page with new data without having to redraw the entire page
May 24, 2015 1:06 PM - Bill Monroe: that's exactly what he was doing
May 24, 2015 1:07 PM - Bill Monroe: learned by reading web pages
May 24, 2015 1:07 PM - donhuevo: Arduinos don't come with an ethernet jack built in so a shield is necessary if you want to put one on a network. The netduino has one built in
May 24, 2015 1:08 PM - Bill Monroe: he has an html server in his barracks connected to an UNO with FETs and Relays and sensors.. I can see the temp in his room in Korea and mess with his lights :)
    May 24, 2015 1:08 PM - donhuevo: nice!
May 24, 2015 1:09 PM - Bill Monroe: the page updates immediately.. that's why he wanted AJAX
May 24, 2015 1:09 PM - donhuevo: yep. back when I was fiddling with the netduino I was hoping to make it the brain of an ROV. I wanted to use an XBox controller to operate it across a local network
May 24, 2015 1:10 PM - Bill Monroe: he has profound ADD when he was a kid.. I had a pile of last-generation desktop parts in the garage.. he used the internet to learn about them, build a lot of them into working systems
May 24, 2015 1:10 PM - donhuevo: beautiful. passion found.
May 24, 2015 1:11 PM - Bill Monroe: before I knew it, he has a server farm in his room... now he designs and maintains field comm nets for the army
May 24, 2015 1:11 PM - Bill Monroe: passion yes.. and infinite patience.. I really envy that
May 24, 2015 1:12 PM - donhuevo: had you gotten a kickstarter robo, patience would have been forced upon you
May 24, 2015 1:12 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. i dont put up with junk like that.. it would have been in the trash in short order
May 24, 2015 1:13 PM - donhuevo: as painful as it was, I'm glad I started there. it makes where I ended up that much sweeter
May 24, 2015 1:13 PM - Bill Monroe: yes indeed
May 24, 2015 1:14 PM - donhuevo: there really isn't much left of the original robo anymore. now I have something fast and accurate
    May 24, 2015 1:14 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
May 24, 2015 1:14 PM - Bill Monroe: i get my patience training keeping vintage planes flying :)
May 24, 2015 1:15 PM - Bill Monroe: part done.. now a little assembly and project done
    May 24, 2015 1:15 PM - donhuevo: I have 4 layers left
    May 24, 2015 1:44 PM - Bill Monroe: success
    May 24, 2015 1:44 PM - donhuevo: same here
May 24, 2015 1:45 PM - Bill Monroe: we rool
    May 24, 2015 1:45 PM - donhuevo: we do
May 24, 2015 1:46 PM - donhuevo: and in the robo colors
    May 24, 2015 1:46 PM - donhuevo: nice
May 24, 2015 1:46 PM - Bill Monroe: kinda blurry huh?
    May 24, 2015 1:46 PM - donhuevo: a little
May 24, 2015 1:53 PM - Bill Monroe: its too big too... i'll tweak it
    May 24, 2015 2:04 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    May 24, 2015 2:04 PM - donhuevo: well done
    May 24, 2015 2:05 PM - Bill Monroe: <-- amatuer photoshopper
    May 24, 2015 2:07 PM - Mike Glass: sweet
May 24, 2015 2:08 PM - Mike Glass: its time to take the plactic off Bill.
May 24, 2015 2:11 PM - Mike Glass: hmm wonder if you could put a swivel on the base, that would rock, then it would work for anyone ;)
    May 24, 2015 2:15 PM - Bill Monroe: like my plastic :)
May 24, 2015 2:15 PM - Bill Monroe: it's an old joke between my daughter and I
May 24, 2015 2:16 PM - Bill Monroe: she hates it.. I leave it on.. she takes it off when I'm not looking, I put it back on....
May 24, 2015 2:16 PM - Bill Monroe: i still have it on my monitor array
May 24, 2015 2:16 PM - donhuevo: I would have to pick at it like a scab
May 24, 2015 2:17 PM - Bill Monroe: i have a 12 year old leather recliner that still has it on the footrest
May 24, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Glass: suprised you dont have vinyl on all your furniture.
May 24, 2015 2:18 PM - Bill Monroe: it's all leather.. dont need covers :)

May 24, 2015 2:18 PM - Bill Monroe: even the plane and Model A are leather
    May 24, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    May 24, 2015 2:23 PM - Bill Monroe: wazzat?
May 24, 2015 2:23 PM - Mike Glass: ravens skull
May 24, 2015 2:24 PM - Bill Monroe: umm ya, everyone needs at least one of those....
May 24, 2015 2:24 PM - donhuevo: how did you get the sharpie to color the filament?
May 24, 2015 2:24 PM - Mike Glass: gonna do one in purple next
    May 24, 2015 2:26 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
    May 24, 2015 2:27 PM - Mike Glass: I need a filament guide..lol
    May 24, 2015 2:29 PM - Bill Monroe: i shoulda incorporated one
    May 24, 2015 2:30 PM - donhuevo: I like it
May 24, 2015 2:30 PM - Mike Glass: right between the two pulleys would work
May 24, 2015 2:31 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, I was just thinking that..
May 24, 2015 2:31 PM - Bill Monroe: let the pen's weight ride on the filament
    May 24, 2015 2:31 PM - Bill Monroe: oh well.. rev 2
May 24, 2015 2:32 PM - Mike Glass: my problem is I have to baby sit it, already had one misshap, it lifted the carriage up and made a bird nest
May 24, 2015 2:33 PM - Bill Monroe: taking another swing at the tower of Pi
May 24, 2015 2:34 PM - Mike Glass: Bills design would work great if it swiveled, as I switch to the stock filament holder, which sucks
May 24, 2015 2:34 PM - donhuevo: I was thinking of something some ptfe could snap into shaping it into a nice arc
May 24, 2015 2:36 PM - Mike Glass: I actually bought the markers for the spherebot im building.
    May 24, 2015 2:38 PM - Mike Glass: so I can logotize golf balls..heh
May 24, 2015 2:44 PM - Bill Monroe: we used to use a thermal pad printer for that
May 24, 2015 2:45 PM - Bill Monroe: boss used to invite his friends for gold, and print their names in gold leaf
May 24, 2015 2:45 PM - Bill Monroe: had fancy boxes made, we printed those too.
May 24, 2015 2:46 PM - Bill Monroe: what they didnt know is he used cheap-ass lousy balls so he could get and edge on them :)
May 24, 2015 2:46 PM - Bill Monroe: they sure looked high end though
May 24, 2015 2:50 PM - Mike Glass: Think I came up with a plan, I have some 608z bearings gonna use for guiding
May 24, 2015 2:56 PM - donhuevo: now I'm feeling something artsy fartsy with ptfe and the fibonacci spiral
May 24, 2015 2:59 PM - Bill Monroe: make a print of the human arterial system, and pull filament through the carotid
May 24, 2015 3:04 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] it works
May 24, 2015 3:08 PM - Bill Monroe: that was fast
May 24, 2015 3:10 PM - Bill Monroe: so, if you use the LCD to change the FLOW in the settings while the print is running, that causes a lttle extra extrusion per unit mile, yes?
    May 24, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Glass: mile?
    May 24, 2015 3:13 PM - Bill Monroe: ok mm ... I like to think big :)
May 24, 2015 3:14 PM - Mike Glass: It should change the extrusion rate just like it does in S3d
May 24, 2015 3:18 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, thanks.. might need that once the print starts climbing the wall
May 24, 2015 4:07 PM - Mike Glass: what concert you going to tonight Bill?
    May 24, 2015 4:08 PM - Bill Monroe: I'm not going now :)
May 24, 2015 4:08 PM - Bill Monroe: but it's the kickoff to the rolling stones tour
May 24, 2015 4:09 PM - Mike Glass: why the hell not?
May 24, 2015 4:10 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. sister's husband got sick. sister wanted to invite one of their high school freinds, who they happened to be having lunch with today
May 24, 2015 4:10 PM - Bill Monroe: that left me as the only guy in the group
May 24, 2015 4:10 PM - Mike Glass: eek gads
May 24, 2015 4:10 PM - Bill Monroe: seats are in A5, close to the stage and right on the runway
May 24, 2015 4:11 PM - Bill Monroe: that's not a place I like to see a concert anyway so, I suggested they invite another and make it a girl's event
May 24, 2015 4:11 PM - Bill Monroe: I am now the sensitive and sacraficing hero husband, and I dont have to endure the screaming, dancing, and general mayhem that goes with a seat in that area
    May 24, 2015 4:12 PM - Bill Monroe: <-- winnah!
May 24, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Glass: Not my favorite band but would go if got tickets, but yea the mayhem and loudness, my ears are alot sensitive then they have been in the past.
    May 24, 2015 4:13 PM - Bill Monroe: I got them a limo
    May 24, 2015 4:13 PM - Mike Glass: dont you mean <----Winna\
May 24, 2015 4:14 PM - Bill Monroe: so four early 40s (but look much younger) chicks going to see a stones concert in a limo
May 24, 2015 4:14 PM - Bill Monroe: winna winnah.. what's the diff?
May 24, 2015 4:15 PM - Bill Monroe: they've already picked out their rediculously short skirts and their nosebleed heels... now they're all at a spa
May 24, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: Oh the life
May 24, 2015 4:16 PM - Bill Monroe: honestly, I'm really tickled for her.. she hasnt seen her sister ina few years, or hung out with her school freinds much.. she's high as a kite
May 24, 2015 4:19 PM - Bill Monroe: they dared each other to flash Jaggar so, there might be a youtube video in the future
May 24, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Glass: lol, they going brawless?
    May 24, 2015 4:20 PM - Bill Monroe: ohya
May 24, 2015 4:22 PM - Bill Monroe: one of the guys I work with got on the temp labor setup/teardown crew.. he said the sound check this morning was really good
    May 24, 2015 4:22 PM - Bill Monroe: 9am and Jaggar was on-target
May 24, 2015 4:24 PM - Bill Monroe: he said the guy opening was good too, but I never heard of him
May 24, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Glass: Gary Clark. yea me neither
May 24, 2015 4:28 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, thats the guy
May 24, 2015 4:28 PM - Bill Monroe: i heard a couple of his tunes on the internet earlier today.. seems like a good opener
May 24, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Glass: guess I should go put the four wheelers and lawnmower away before it rains again.
May 24, 2015 4:32 PM - Bill Monroe: raining there huh?
May 24, 2015 4:32 PM - Bill Monroe: its been overcast and cold here all day.. a bit breezy
May 24, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Glass: off and on, its really dry
    May 24, 2015 6:29 PM - jbigler1986: back

May 24, 2015 6:34 PM - Mike Glass: Did you see my setup..lol using old parts
May 24, 2015 6:35 PM - Mike Glass: super glue is my friend today
May 24, 2015 6:35 PM - Bill Monroe: I dunno taking another swing at the Pi tower right now
May 24, 2015 6:36 PM - Mike Glass: You cant design when your printing:)
    May 24, 2015 6:36 PM - jbigler1986: i did not see your setup
May 24, 2015 6:37 PM - Mike Glass: So I just tried my new dust collecter, I blew dust all over my shop..
    May 24, 2015 6:37 PM - Bill Monroe: i just sent 2.0 off
    May 24, 2015 6:38 PM - Bill Monroe: and her possie :)
    May 24, 2015 6:38 PM - Mike Glass: did they find a 4th?
    May 24, 2015 6:38 PM - Bill Monroe: ohya
    May 24, 2015 6:38 PM - Bill Monroe: I think Jagger's in for a 4-way simul-flash
May 24, 2015 6:39 PM - Mike Glass: Ozzy is playing in the background now...head banging

May 24, 2015 7:17 PM - Mike Glass: heat it up to 245
May 24, 2015 7:18 PM - Mike Glass: then dip some filament in canola or olive oil
May 24, 2015 7:18 PM - arealgijoe: I tried setting head toemp to 230 & mattercontrol changed it to 210
May 24, 2015 7:19 PM - arealgijoe: I did dip a few inches in canola oil wiped off excess and TRIED to feed it
    May 24, 2015 7:20 PM - arealgijoe: maybe I will try cura
May 24, 2015 7:21 PM - Mike Glass: dump MC and your problems will most likely go away
    May 24, 2015 7:22 PM - arealgijoe: I need/use it for its manual controls/movements
May 24, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: you can use cura for that
May 24, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: just enable ponterface
May 24, 2015 7:23 PM - arealgijoe: I was printing a case for the LCD controler I ordered, the filiment quit adn Ebob kept on going
May 24, 2015 7:24 PM - arealgijoe: I am a newbie, had this less than a week, a years worth of broken parts & problems
    May 24, 2015 7:25 PM - arealgijoe: where/what is ponterface?
    May 24, 2015 7:26 PM - Mike Glass: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/how-to-cura-setup.4169/ read this
    May 24, 2015 7:27 PM - arealgijoe: I set the temp w/o selecting preheaqt & it at 245 now
May 24, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Glass: can you manually extrude any
    May 24, 2015 7:29 PM - arealgijoe: I just did and its clear now..... T H A N K S
May 24, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: nice. NP
May 24, 2015 7:30 PM - arealgijoe: Would setting extrude head to higher than 210 help avoid clogs?
May 24, 2015 7:30 PM - arealgijoe: I am using hatchbox filiment PLA
May 24, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: I could really depends on the brand, what pla are you using
May 24, 2015 7:31 PM - Mike Glass: hmm I have good luck with hatchbox, but run mostly translucents and run those ast 215
May 24, 2015 7:32 PM - Mike Glass: but also take in consideration on the cooling, do you have dual fans?
May 24, 2015 7:32 PM - arealgijoe: BTW the smart LCD case STL files will NOT print in MC, had to sue CURA if I can get a good complete print.
    May 24, 2015 7:32 PM - Mike Glass: I dont doubt that
    May 24, 2015 7:32 PM - arealgijoe: I have a new stock R1
May 24, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: the auto fan control is better in cura i believe.
May 24, 2015 7:33 PM - Mike Glass: go dual fans you will have nicer prints
May 24, 2015 7:34 PM - arealgijoe: Had glue a broken belt clip, held to print a new beltclip
May 24, 2015 7:35 PM - Mike Glass: thought they were wire tied
May 24, 2015 7:44 PM - arealgijoe: they loop the end thru a block (adjustable) b back in a few, got parts to start printing
May 24, 2015 8:35 PM - arealgijoe: Now I have the TOP printing for the smart LCD
    May 24, 2015 8:43 PM - Mike Kelly: Howdy
May 24, 2015 8:49 PM - Mike Glass: nice, hey Mike
    May 24, 2015 8:54 PM - Mike Kelly: How's your weekend going
May 24, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Glass: busy, working on the yard, shop, printing..lol
May 24, 2015 8:56 PM - Mike Glass: you back home?
May 24, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Kelly: Nope still in abq. Leaving tomorrow
May 24, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Glass: do anything fun?
May 24, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Kelly: Eh nothing super exciting
    May 24, 2015 8:58 PM - Mike Glass: drink some good beer?\
May 24, 2015 8:59 PM - Mike Kelly: Spent time with my sister. Split up our Lego collection.
May 24, 2015 8:59 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah we went to a brewery called la Cumbre
May 24, 2015 8:59 PM - Mike Kelly: They've won quite a few awards and best ipa last year
May 24, 2015 8:59 PM - Mike Glass: eww IPA.

May 24, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: We did a sampler of all their beers. By the end I couldn't really even taste the ipa's
May 24, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: The strawberry gose was interesting
May 24, 2015 9:01 PM - Mike Kelly: I liked their Amber the most
May 24, 2015 9:02 PM - Mike Glass: I like ambers, but Pig as porter is what I have now
May 24, 2015 9:03 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah I think Amber is my favorite style. But I like pretty much all styles. I'm not very particular
    May 24, 2015 9:04 PM - Mike Glass: I like reds also
    May 24, 2015 9:04 PM - Mike Kelly: Same
May 24, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Kelly: I really only like stouts if they're imperials. Otherwise it's just not sweet enough
May 24, 2015 9:05 PM - Mike Glass: what is imperial pertain too
May 24, 2015 9:06 PM - Mike Kelly: It means it's a double. You double the grain bill, hops, and usually yeast. Gives you a very high abv beer but because the yeast can't ferment all the sugars they're very sweet so you don't get the heavy alcohol flavor
May 24, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Glass: Have you made beer with honey before?
May 24, 2015 9:09 PM - Mike Kelly: Nope never used honey
May 24, 2015 9:10 PM - Mike Kelly: Wanna make a mead at some point. Need to clean my glass carboy
May 24, 2015 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: best beer I had my friend made was with honey, it was black as tar but smooth and sweet, but it would knock you on your ass.
May 24, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: That's a pretty cool idea. I haven't experimented too far out of traditional grains
May 24, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: I'm terrified of making something undrinkable
May 24, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Glass: that was my first beer, havent made any since.
May 24, 2015 9:11 PM - Mike Kelly: This red bacon ale I have I can't drink but my friends like love it
May 24, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: I'll need to make a new beer pretty soon. The one I have fermenting probably will be kicked at the wedding
May 24, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: I really want to make this [IMG]
May 24, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: I'm really excited about it. I think it's gonna be delicious
May 24, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: Was that the design I sent you?
May 24, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Glass: I think this was a different one, could be though
May 24, 2015 9:14 PM - Mike Glass: I have some 1/4 ply that I want to use
May 24, 2015 9:15 PM - Mike Glass: There is a guy in town that sells something like these and sels of ton of them
May 24, 2015 9:15 PM - Mike Kelly: I bet. Those are popular these days
May 24, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Glass: I guess I just need to spend a day an designing it
May 24, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Glass: yes a day, im slow
May 24, 2015 9:16 PM - Mike Kelly: Haha I could design that in like an hour :)
May 24, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Glass: Yea I know, thats what you do. I have some really cool paduk I would use for the sides that hold it together.
May 24, 2015 9:17 PM - Mike Kelly: That would look sweet
May 24, 2015 9:19 PM - Mike Kelly: If you sketch out what design you're looking for I can model it for you
May 24, 2015 9:19 PM - Mike Kelly: Maybe you could make me one :)
May 24, 2015 9:20 PM - Mike Glass: [IMG] this is what it looks like
May 24, 2015 9:21 PM - Mike Glass: nasty stuff to work with though, the fibers can cause some bad health issues from the dust
May 24, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Glass: I would do that, I want to make at least a dozen, you could have the first one.
May 24, 2015 9:23 PM - Mike Kelly: Sweet. We could come up with a fun design I'm sure
May 24, 2015 9:24 PM - Mike Kelly: It's good you got that dust collector. At least when you're not coating your shop with it :)
May 24, 2015 9:25 PM - Mike Glass: haha except when I turned it on today, it filled the shop with dust.
May 24, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Glass: the bag on the bottom had a bunch of holes in it, look like a cat got ahold of it. ugg
May 24, 2015 9:26 PM - Mike Kelly: Ugh lame
May 24, 2015 9:27 PM - Mike Glass: you can buy 5 for $20, but just put a big garbage bag on it seems to work. and washed the upper cloth bag also
May 24, 2015 9:28 PM - Mike Kelly: I should see if that guy in castle rock will drop the price. I'll be passing through tomorrow
May 24, 2015 9:29 PM - Mike Glass: that floor sweep is amazing, wow that is going to be nice. It sucks up stuff on the floor like a foot away.
May 24, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Kelly: Haha man I really need one but I'd have to mount it to the ceiling or something
May 24, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Kelly: No floor space
May 24, 2015 9:35 PM - Mike Glass: the dust collector on th ceiling?
    May 24, 2015 9:38 PM - Mike Kelly: Right
May 24, 2015 9:56 PM - Mike Glass: how do you render text in sw in a diffent color
May 24, 2015 9:57 PM - Mike Glass: or guess define it
May 24, 2015 11:00 PM - arealgijoe: Newbie Question, can I open say 2 stl files, for a button and a knob for teh LCD controler at one time and print both at once???
May 24, 2015 11:00 PM - arealgijoe: Forgot to say in CURA
May 24, 2015 11:27 PM - Mike Glass: yes you can
May 24, 2015 11:51 PM - arealgijoe: I thought I might be able, DONE loaded the knob & button, both are printing right now. thanx
May 24, 2015 11:53 PM - arealgijoe: NOTE: I like this shoutbox, faster that posting a Q in forum and quick response... GREAT!
May 24, 2015 11:57 PM - arealgijoe: Button, knob & top DONE! Now tomorrow to print the bottom, or should I say TRY again?
    May 24, 2015 11:58 PM - arealgijoe: GeNite......... getting late/early C U later gators
    May 25, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
May 25, 2015 5:17 AM - Printed Solid: morning JB
May 25, 2015 5:17 AM - Printed Solid: you see I finally put that spare parts page up? Haven't put pics on it yet though :)
May 25, 2015 5:18 AM - Printed Solid: Can you resend the links? Also, feel free to send those parts back when you feel like it.
May 25, 2015 5:22 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah I will resend the link. And I will send the parts tomorrow. Avent checked the site in a week or so. Glad it's almost there. I bet you will be selling a bunch of that stuff
May 25, 2015 5:23 AM - jbigler1986: Let me get the link really quick
May 25, 2015 5:27 AM - jbigler1986: Do you have semiflex or just ninjaflex?
    May 25, 2015 6:47 AM - Printed Solid: both
    May 25, 2015 6:50 AM - Stephen Capistron: bueller
    May 25, 2015 6:54 AM - Mike Glass: ?
May 25, 2015 6:56 AM - Printed Solid: I'm a little confused by that one as well.
May 25, 2015 6:58 AM - Mike Glass: Buellers day off, its a movie
    May 25, 2015 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: Great movie
    May 25, 2015 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: It's a classic
May 25, 2015 7:02 AM - jbigler1986: Happy Memorial Day! Enjoy your day off (hopefully you have off anyways)
May 25, 2015 7:02 AM - Mike Glass: yay, morning JB and PS, SC
May 25, 2015 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: Fixed my camera mount this morning
May 25, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: Printing more parts for my work. Only have 3 left after these 3. Hookers
May 25, 2015 7:05 AM - Mike Glass: Why do I fail with abs when making something fit, is there math to oversize the part?
May 25, 2015 7:06 AM - Stephen Capistron: come on people ferris bueller
    May 25, 2015 7:06 AM - Stargrove1: Bueller ... the class ... anyone
May 25, 2015 7:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: ABS does shrink a ton, that is what makes it good for injection molding
May 25, 2015 7:08 AM - Mike Glass: what percent should I use.
May 25, 2015 7:10 AM - Stephen Capistron: it will probably only shrink 1-2%
May 25, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: You could test it with something small and just trial and error. Or use differ processes in s3d with different settings
May 25, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: Print a few at the same time with different settings
May 25, 2015 7:11 AM - Mike Glass: thats crazy
May 25, 2015 7:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: that it shrinks or trial and error
May 25, 2015 7:12 AM - Mike Glass: .1 mm should be enough then
May 25, 2015 7:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: probably, is your extruder well calibrated?
May 25, 2015 7:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: getting an elephant's foot on the bottom that is throwing you off?
May 25, 2015 7:14 AM - Mike Glass: no its inside
    May 25, 2015 7:14 AM - Mike Glass: a nut cover
    May 25, 2015 7:14 AM - Mike Glass: I will try .15 over
May 25, 2015 7:16 AM - Stephen Capistron: i don't have an LCD, what is a good way to print just a g code file?
    May 25, 2015 7:16 AM - Mike Glass: repetier
    May 25, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: Or s3d
May 25, 2015 7:18 AM - Stephen Capistron: i'll have to try repetier again
    May 25, 2015 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: What do you use? S3d or cura
    May 25, 2015 7:20 AM - jbigler1986: Or............ MC! Lol
May 25, 2015 7:21 AM - Stephen Capistron: usually cura
May 25, 2015 7:22 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah Cura needs to step it up for stuff like that. As well as SD support. It's really nice otherwise
May 25, 2015 7:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: by usually i really mean always

    May 25, 2015 7:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: i'm giving craftware support a try
May 25, 2015 7:27 AM - Stephen Capistron: i'm blind, where is the terminal in repetier?
    May 25, 2015 7:30 AM - Stargrove1: Above the manual controls?
May 25, 2015 7:32 AM - jbigler1986: Did you edit craftware support or just let it auto generate it all? The UI is fugly
    May 25, 2015 7:33 AM - Stephen Capistron: autogenerate
May 25, 2015 7:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: I printed the "yes no" and it seemed pretty hard to remove the support.
May 25, 2015 7:34 AM - Stephen Capistron: I think i was printing too hot and or not enough retraction
May 25, 2015 7:35 AM - Stephen Capistron: but it is doing some weird other stuff, like lines are not going down consistently
    May 25, 2015 7:36 AM - jbigler1986: From craftware?
May 25, 2015 7:36 AM - Shank: i know when i used craftware i had problems with the support not having a completely printed first layer
May 25, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: It was fine for me. Minus the speed being way to fast
May 25, 2015 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: goooooood morning!
    May 25, 2015 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
May 25, 2015 7:38 AM - Shank: i agree jb, it almost looks like it cant recover from the retraction
    May 25, 2015 7:40 AM - Stephen Capistron: [IMG]
May 25, 2015 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: my previous print was the same material but a different model through cura and it came out awesome
May 25, 2015 7:43 AM - jbigler1986: I didn't fiddle with craftware to much. Need to figure out the speed issue. Seemed like it was printing at 100mm/s and I scaled down the object so it didn't go so well
May 25, 2015 7:46 AM - Stephen Capistron: my speed seems ok, but not impressed with the support
May 25, 2015 7:48 AM - Shank: i like Cura more then Craftware, i feel that the support from craftware could easly fall over if given uneven force
May 25, 2015 7:48 AM - Mike Glass: WTH Bill, that is crazy support
May 25, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: like it?
May 25, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: look at the vertical walls... silky smooth!
    May 25, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Glass: is that V2?
May 25, 2015 7:49 AM - Bill Monroe: that is *absolutely* on par with stratasys
    May 25, 2015 7:50 AM - Bill Monroe: no.. it's 1.1 but I've been thinking about V2
May 25, 2015 7:50 AM - Mike Glass: what did you do in 1.1
May 25, 2015 7:51 AM - Mike Glass: is that abs or pla
May 25, 2015 7:51 AM - Bill Monroe: tighted up the clamp presure, put some risers on the base for cleanance with those black bands on the case.. it's PLA
May 25, 2015 7:52 AM - Bill Monroe: makerbot PLA that I bought on cleanence at Frys
May 25, 2015 7:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: ding, fries are done
May 25, 2015 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: i had a design that needed almost no support.. it worked but it was fugly
May 25, 2015 7:54 AM - Bill Monroe: kinfa thing you'd see someone using sketchup make
May 25, 2015 7:54 AM - Stephen Capistron: that is embarrasing
May 25, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: support popped right off
May 25, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: i have a part I made with stratasys prodigy plus in ABS 12 years ago.. I've been keeping it as a comparison standard on what a perfect 3D print should look like
May 25, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: i still have the solidworks file
May 25, 2015 7:58 AM - Bill Monroe: I think it's time to run it on the Robo....
    May 25, 2015 8:03 AM - Mike Glass: Benchy?
May 25, 2015 8:09 AM - Bill Monroe: i'e done benchy in Shaxon blue.. really surprised me
May 25, 2015 8:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ohya, this part fits much better
May 25, 2015 8:35 AM - Bill Monroe: done.. 1.1 is now in release
    May 25, 2015 8:46 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah
    May 25, 2015 8:49 AM - jbigler1986: about to be bbq time
May 25, 2015 8:50 AM - Bill Monroe: it's Memorial Day, not 4th of July
    May 25, 2015 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: so
    May 25, 2015 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: not allowed to bbq?
May 25, 2015 8:51 AM - Bill Monroe: anyone you know, even love, die in the war(s)
May 25, 2015 8:52 AM - jbigler1986: not die. my step dad was a POW
    May 25, 2015 8:52 AM - jbigler1986: he is who i am having a bbq with
May 25, 2015 8:52 AM - Bill Monroe: alright, you get a variance
May 25, 2015 8:53 AM - jbigler1986: he has a lot of mental stuff going on
May 25, 2015 8:53 AM - jbigler1986: VA has him so medicated it's kinda sad
May 25, 2015 8:53 AM - Bill Monroe: I watched guys in my unit die.. so did my oldest son
May 25, 2015 8:54 AM - Bill Monroe: we dont throw parties on Memorial Day
May 25, 2015 8:55 AM - Bill Monroe: 2.0 and I are going to Ft Rosecrans in awhile to visit my great-grandfather's gravesite.. SAW casualty
May 25, 2015 8:55 AM - Bill Monroe: that's Spanish American War, not Squad Automatic Weapon
May 25, 2015 8:56 AM - Bill Monroe: then we go to Chino with my oldest to visit his buddy's family
May 25, 2015 8:57 AM - Bill Monroe: ask your stepdad to, before he chugs his first beer, to same the name of someone he lost
May 25, 2015 9:03 AM - jbigler1986: Will do. He doesn't really drink. He can't even drive because of all the meds he is on. I hate the VA. They treat most soldiers like shit
May 25, 2015 9:03 AM - Bill Monroe: oh well, at least remember..
May 25, 2015 9:04 AM - jbigler1986: It's not really a party. Just me and my family going over to my mom's with those 2 and one of his kids.
May 25, 2015 9:05 AM - jbigler1986: More of a keeping him company and keeping his mind off of stuff today
May 25, 2015 9:06 AM - Bill Monroe: I still live with what I did to the village where the fire came that shot my freind down

May 25, 2015 12:42 PM - Bill Monroe: I suggested to 2.0 that we try making a 3D printer to make soap.. boy did I get the stink-eye
May 25, 2015 12:44 PM - Bill Monroe: unless you've changed it, the firmware limits the temp to 265
May 25, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: haha, bet you did, she doesnt want you homing in on her stuff
May 25, 2015 12:44 PM - arealgijoe: My Robo is STOCK, ordered a LCD controler tho
May 25, 2015 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: Take it apart and clean it
May 25, 2015 12:45 PM - Bill Monroe: <chuckle> she'll fight any change that makes it less handmade
May 25, 2015 12:45 PM - Bill Monroe: I cant even get her to consider molds w/ her logo

May 25, 2015 12:47 PM - jbigler1986: Or you could try to clean it with some cold pulls
May 25, 2015 12:48 PM - arealgijoe: can not even get filiment loaded, (again)
May 25, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: you might have a broken piece in the hobb, remove the two screws where the filament goes and inspect
May 25, 2015 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: Remove the 2 spring loaded bolts and check it
    May 25, 2015 12:49 PM - jbigler1986: Damn you

May 25, 2015 12:51 PM - jbigler1986: Until you figure out how to get it running good and how to fix issues that arise
May 25, 2015 12:51 PM - arealgijoe: I have it at 260 now, gonna give it time to work ....gotta let COOL before finger poking
May 25, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: Once you learn the ins and outs of it you will be glad you had the issues
    May 25, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: Removing those 2 bolts you won't be touching anything hot
May 25, 2015 12:52 PM - arealgijoe: I have OTHER hobbies almost like that, did expect few issues, Mine even ahs built in case supports missing on earlier units
May 25, 2015 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: haha, I left a part in the MEK for over a week now its rubber, kinda cool
May 25, 2015 12:53 PM - Bill Monroe: i had some issues after having ins and outs.. but a shot of penicillin fixed it
May 25, 2015 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: oh and dont use MEK in an enclosed area.
May 25, 2015 12:54 PM - jbigler1986: Well stop putting your thing in metal holes
May 25, 2015 12:54 PM - Bill Monroe: now you tell me
May 25, 2015 12:55 PM - arealgijoe: I would be more "GLAD" if the issues were relatively minor
May 25, 2015 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: Starting out they never are
May 25, 2015 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: we had 6 months jump on you, well at least with the robo
May 25, 2015 12:56 PM - arealgijoe: I covered the blue lights, more a hinderance, put a stick on bat oper 3 LED WHITE light in the tower to see
May 25, 2015 12:57 PM - Bill Monroe: wow, wished I had thought of that
    May 25, 2015 12:57 PM - Bill Monroe: "this looks like a good place for a stick-up"
May 25, 2015 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: oh wait.. that's a room freshener isnt it?

    May 25, 2015 1:35 PM - arealgijoe: Still NOT feeding.....yet
May 25, 2015 1:40 PM - Mike Glass: maybe your light is drawing to much power.
    May 25, 2015 1:44 PM - arealgijoe: Q! would using a higher ext temp help stop clogs??? say 220 v 210
May 25, 2015 1:45 PM - arealgijoe: My "light" is BATTERY op. Maybe I should cut out the blue LEDS to save POWER
    May 25, 2015 1:47 PM - arealgijoe: Its FEEDING....
May 25, 2015 1:58 PM - arealgijoe: Last nite when I printing the top, CURA crashed/stopped rresponding, but Robo kept printing and FINISHED it (complete)

May 25, 2015 3:52 PM - Stephen Capistron: probably should have printed benchy before jumping into round 2 of the yes/no sign, but whatever
May 25, 2015 3:52 PM - Mike Kelly: Go big or go home... Or end up with a pile of filament
    May 25, 2015 3:55 PM - jbigler1986: How has support been?
May 25, 2015 4:00 PM - jbigler1986: Stop by the garden of the gods for me. Miss that place
May 25, 2015 4:04 PM - Stephen Capistron: better, i had to come down 20 degrees
    May 25, 2015 4:04 PM - jbigler1986: Holy cow. That's a big difference
May 25, 2015 4:04 PM - Stephen Capistron: and turn retraction / prime way up
May 25, 2015 4:05 PM - Mike Glass: what, where you melting plastic or something.
May 25, 2015 4:06 PM - Stephen Capistron: huh? I was printing two letter "F"s upright to tune the support and stringing at the same time
May 25, 2015 4:07 PM - Stephen Capistron: Aren't we all melting plastic?
May 25, 2015 4:08 PM - Mike Glass: oh yeah, I guess so
May 25, 2015 4:10 PM - Stephen Capistron: except some people get wacky and put plotter pens on their 3D printers and make them 2D
    May 25, 2015 4:12 PM - Mike Glass: fools
May 25, 2015 4:22 PM - Mike Kelly: The pursuit of perfection is often blinded by the need for said perfection

May 25, 2015 6:41 PM - jbigler1986: Just ordered the translucent black and cinnamon red
May 25, 2015 6:42 PM - Mike Glass: that red looks nice with the gray too.
    May 25, 2015 6:53 PM - jbigler1986: Anyone printed a carabiner yet?
May 25, 2015 6:54 PM - Bill Monroe: I'll print one if you use it climbing :)_

May 25, 2015 6:58 PM - Montravont: anyone looking to light up the inside of their robo?
    May 25, 2015 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: Might be a fail. We will see
    May 25, 2015 6:58 PM - jbigler1986: I have 3 feet of LED's inside of mine
May 25, 2015 6:58 PM - Bill Monroe: I lit mine with a string of superbright LEDs
    May 25, 2015 6:59 PM - Bill Monroe: <hi5>
May 25, 2015 6:59 PM - Montravont: I've been putting it off, but I saw this deal today: https://www.wish.com/geek/m/c/548aaeb1223ebf3a655cf5bf
May 25, 2015 6:59 PM - jbigler1986: I wish I could make it less bright sometimes. It won't go any more dim though
May 25, 2015 7:00 PM - Montravont: put a potentiometer between the power supply and the LED strip
May 25, 2015 7:00 PM - jbigler1986: That's almost exactly what I have. Didn't get even close to as good a deal as that is though
May 25, 2015 7:00 PM - Bill Monroe: i just wired mine to 12 volts.. no need to change colors
May 25, 2015 7:00 PM - Bill Monroe: i paid 8 bux for mine at Frys
May 25, 2015 7:01 PM - jbigler1986: I just left mine externally powered. I was to lazy at the time to hard wire them up
May 25, 2015 7:01 PM - jbigler1986: Now I am to lazy to remove them and rewire them
May 25, 2015 7:01 PM - Bill Monroe: the stickum didnt last thought, had to add a lil super glue here and there
May 25, 2015 7:01 PM - jbigler1986: Bill my fry's has flexible filament now. You should check yours
    May 25, 2015 7:02 PM - jbigler1986: Like 6 different colors too
May 25, 2015 7:02 PM - Bill Monroe: eh, Flex isnt enough reason for me to run that guantlet
    May 25, 2015 7:03 PM - Montravont: ha
May 25, 2015 7:03 PM - jbigler1986: I just want to try it out. Maybe print an ice cube tray or something
May 25, 2015 7:03 PM - Bill Monroe: honestly, I dont know what I would need flex for
May 25, 2015 7:04 PM - Bill Monroe: but I did do all the flex-freindly mode when I put the V6 in vuz, that's how I roll
May 25, 2015 7:04 PM - jbigler1986: I don't have any real need for it. Why not add to my collection that is getting out of hand
    May 25, 2015 7:05 PM - jbigler1986: Plus fry's filament hasn't let me down yet
May 25, 2015 7:05 PM - Bill Monroe: I got FAA approvals to install LEDs in my plane :)
    May 25, 2015 7:05 PM - Bill Monroe: trust me, that's huge
    May 25, 2015 7:05 PM - jbigler1986: Disco ball too?
May 25, 2015 7:05 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. other planes will think I'm an airport and chase me around
May 25, 2015 7:06 PM - Bill Monroe: i mean to use for panel lighting and such
May 25, 2015 7:06 PM - jbigler1986: I know what you meant. Make things easier to see I'm sure
May 25, 2015 7:07 PM - Bill Monroe: o'm going to add them to the wing root fariings under the wing with a switch in the baggage compartment.. light the ground up around the plane at night
May 25, 2015 7:07 PM - jbigler1986: Drain that new battery you got. Jk. LED's don't use much
    May 25, 2015 7:08 PM - Bill Monroe: heh
May 25, 2015 7:08 PM - Montravont: blah... m565... more negative is higher off the bed right?
May 25, 2015 7:08 PM - Bill Monroe: now I replace the obsolete wheat grain bulbs used for landing gear position annumciators
May 25, 2015 7:09 PM - Bill Monroe: yes Mont
    May 25, 2015 7:09 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
May 25, 2015 7:10 PM - jbigler1986: Took me forever to remember that. Kept forgetting
May 25, 2015 7:11 PM - Bill Monroe: just remember it's how far it backs up once once of the limit switches are made
May 25, 2015 7:12 PM - Montravont: thanks... been still using Cura and a different code
May 25, 2015 7:12 PM - Montravont: went back to simplify and the offset was set wrong
May 25, 2015 7:12 PM - Montravont: running too close to the bed
May 25, 2015 7:13 PM - jbigler1986: I got Braydon to throw in the linear steppers for the deal he is giving me on another robo. I'm at about 75 percent on pulling the trigger now
    May 25, 2015 7:13 PM - Bill Monroe: <grumble...gripe.grumble...> they're not linear steppers
May 25, 2015 7:14 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah Yeah Yeah. Integrated rods. Is that better
    May 25, 2015 7:14 PM - Bill Monroe: closer
May 25, 2015 7:15 PM - Bill Monroe: steppers with intergral screws
    May 25, 2015 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: I asked him how much lower if he didn't install a hotend since I have a spare hex and v6.
May 25, 2015 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: Hell he could just send it to me not assembled even
May 25, 2015 7:16 PM - Bill Monroe: i saw someone say they were moving to the new screws
May 25, 2015 7:17 PM - jbigler1986: He said they are in production now.
May 25, 2015 7:17 PM - Bill Monroe: i did find one drawback.. small one
    May 25, 2015 7:17 PM - jbigler1986: What's that
May 25, 2015 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: with the coarser thread, it's easier to push the X down when trying to remove stuck fiament and what-have-you.. corrupting your level
May 25, 2015 7:20 PM - jbigler1986: Yep. Did that the other day when trying to add the filament color thing
May 25, 2015 7:20 PM - Bill Monroe: easy to fix though.. just a small thing
    May 25, 2015 7:20 PM - Mike Glass: are they using T8 or T4.5's
    May 25, 2015 7:20 PM - Bill Monroe: *
    May 25, 2015 7:20 PM - Bill Monroe: 8
    May 25, 2015 7:21 PM - jbigler1986: He didn't specify. I will get more info this week
May 25, 2015 7:22 PM - Mike Glass: shop is all rearraged now, except for the cnc, need help moving it.
May 25, 2015 7:22 PM - Bill Monroe: ok. i've had too much programming lately... I typo'd the * and immediate tried to resolva a pointer in my head
    May 25, 2015 7:23 PM - jbigler1986: Damn programming. Hate it
May 25, 2015 7:23 PM - Bill Monroe: my prof and I had a long come-to-jesus convo Friday night
May 25, 2015 7:24 PM - jbigler1986: I also do not like dealing with databases
May 25, 2015 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: dang that 2.0 fruging around te backyard topkess.. what a distraction

    May 25, 2015 7:27 PM - jbigler1986: I enjoy hands-on as well. Which I why I don't mind diving into a printer problem
    May 25, 2015 7:28 PM - jbigler1986: Nice.
May 25, 2015 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: so I can still send hm questions and stuff...
    May 25, 2015 7:29 PM - Bill Monroe: had a great talk
    May 25, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: That's good. At least your time and effort wasn't a waist
May 25, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: What are you printing MG? You are always printing something
May 25, 2015 7:42 PM - Mike Glass: I was printing nut covers for this antique singer sewing machine legs that im mounting on a piece of marble.
May 25, 2015 7:43 PM - Mike Glass: I even put the singer text on them and embosed them with bronze
May 25, 2015 7:43 PM - jbigler1986: Did you get the shrink percentage figured out
May 25, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: yea ended up goint .4 over
    May 25, 2015 7:45 PM - jbigler1986: That's not bad
May 25, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Glass: they are still tight but wanted to be press fit so no glue
May 25, 2015 7:47 PM - Mike Glass: you dont really see them as they are towards the top sides, but thought it would be a nice touch, I try to incorporate something printed in our funiture.
May 25, 2015 7:48 PM - Mike Glass: The knobs I printed are the biggest hit so far.
May 25, 2015 7:49 PM - Mike Glass: hopefully I can work on the foundry soon, do some lost pla casting
May 25, 2015 7:49 PM - Bill Monroe: done it
May 25, 2015 8:05 PM - Bill Monroe: you got a pottery kiln Mike?
    May 25, 2015 8:12 PM - Mike Glass: Nope, I wish

May 25, 2015 at 10:51 PM - TechSupportGo: anyone know the retraction distance for a .35mm nozzle?
    May 26, 2015 at 3:04 AM - jbigler1986: I leave my .25 nozzle the same as my .4 so I wouldn't change it.
May 26, 2015 at 3:22 AM - jbigler1986: Smaller nozzles you might want to try and lower the temperature a little so it doesn't ooze as much
May 26, 2015 at 3:37 AM - Bill Monroe: mornin
May 26, 2015 at 4:11 AM - Mike Glass: mornin

May 26, 2015 at 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: soprano sax mouthpiece :)
May 26, 2015 at 5:37 AM - JeffTheMess: you designed it?
May 26, 2015 at 5:38 AM - Bill Monroe: yup.. 8th rev.. not perfect yet but it's playable
May 26, 2015 at 5:40 AM - Bill Monroe: 2nd chair sax player at the high school tried it.. it was great!
May 26, 2015 at 5:40 AM - JeffTheMess: you measured off the original mouth piece, it looks very nice
May 26, 2015 at 5:41 AM - Bill Monroe: I started there but had to make changes to match it up with the horn.. the little gray part is an adapter
May 26, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: its not right yet but I've got tape on it to dial-in the taper and dimension.. gotta make a groove for the cork, etc..
May 26, 2015 at 5:42 AM - Bill Monroe: something I fool with now and then
May 26, 2015 at 5:43 AM - Bill Monroe: i think I'm going to end up having to have special reeds made for it.. the vibration harmonic is so low the sound is down there with the baritones
May 26, 2015 at 5:44 AM - Bill Monroe: might be able to adapt some
    May 26, 2015 at 5:47 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
    May 26, 2015 at 5:48 AM - JeffTheMess: nice

May 26, 2015 at 5:56 AM - JeffTheMess: what we making there
May 26, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: it's an XL pulley for a NEMA 23 stepper.. uses a taper collet
May 26, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: they kinda pricey but very good concentricity.. thought I'd see if I could print one that's robust enough
May 26, 2015 at 5:58 AM - JeffTheMess: never a dull moment with Bill
    May 26, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: I hope not :)
May 26, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: if things get boring, I go chase 2.0 around the house
May 26, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Les Hall: hi folks
May 26, 2015 at 5:59 AM - JeffTheMess: you can put that on ustream lol
    May 26, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Les Hall: i'm getting into robotics :)
May 26, 2015 at 5:59 AM - JeffTheMess: hey there
May 26, 2015 at 5:59 AM - Les Hall: hi jeff
May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: don't its full of heartache
May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Les Hall: why?
May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Bill Monroe: you make them, they just start to become good then leave home....
May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: so you are getting into robotics
May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM - Les Hall: hehe
May 26, 2015 at 6:00 AM - JeffTheMess: dont tell him that lol
May 26, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Les Hall: yes, i'm taking the first step with a simple easy kit
May 26, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Les Hall: from which i will learn and then print my own robots
    May 26, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Les Hall: it's just a pan/tilt kit
May 26, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Les Hall: not much of a robot but a start
May 26, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Les Hall: it will pan and tilt and i might put something on it
May 26, 2015 at 6:02 AM - Les Hall: like a single pixel light sensor, focused beam
May 26, 2015 at 6:03 AM - JeffTheMess: good, don't be discouraged by it...its worth it once you get a nag of it (in 5-10 year of experience) :)
May 26, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Les Hall: well Adafruit makes some of it easy going
May 26, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Les Hall: i don't do their projects but i learn from them
    May 26, 2015 at 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: http://littlebits.cc/
May 26, 2015 at 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: good place to start
May 26, 2015 at 6:06 AM - JeffTheMess: ( i don't know your programming skill set though) you wont need it at littlebits
May 26, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Les Hall: i have a masters in electronics and 35 years of programming
May 26, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Les Hall: not sure if littlebits is for me
May 26, 2015 at 6:07 AM - JeffTheMess: no need for little bits then lol
May 26, 2015 at 6:07 AM - Les Hall: oh ok
May 26, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Les Hall: i'm just doing little arduino projects for starters
    May 26, 2015 at 6:09 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
May 26, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Les Hall: i like the arduino platform for several reasons. I know it's limited but it miniaturizes to low cost quite well
May 26, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Les Hall: i also want to get into 3D printing my own motors like i did before, now that magnetic iron and conductive filament are availalble
    May 26, 2015 at 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: thats a good idea
May 26, 2015 at 6:13 AM - Les Hall: well it's cheaper than buying them and there is some kind of crazy purist in me that wants to 3d print entire systems
May 26, 2015 at 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: mmmmm two day old cold pizza for breakfast.....
May 26, 2015 at 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: dont hate me cuz you aint me...
May 26, 2015 at 6:15 AM - JeffTheMess: have you used those filaments before?
May 26, 2015 at 6:15 AM - Les Hall: neither
May 26, 2015 at 6:15 AM - Les Hall: this will be my first attempt at both
May 26, 2015 at 6:16 AM - Les Hall: the conductive filament is actually for e-NABLE finger tips.
May 26, 2015 at 6:18 AM - JeffTheMess: cool, would love to see your progress on it, keep us posted
    May 26, 2015 at 6:18 AM - Les Hall: k will do
May 26, 2015 at 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess: what have you been working on lately
    May 26, 2015 at 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess:
    May 26, 2015 at 6:19 AM - JeffTheMess: http://www.redetec.com/

May 26, 2015 at 6:35 AM - jbigler1986: we saw that retouch a few weeks ago
    May 26, 2015 at 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: waste of money
May 26, 2015 at 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: crowdfunded
May 26, 2015 at 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: "finish it properly" what arrogance

May 26, 2015 at 6:44 AM - Stephen Capistron: $125, but they had some rewards that were $400
May 26, 2015 at 6:45 AM - JeffTheMess: so far with s3d i dont need much tooling
    May 26, 2015 at 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: nope
May 26, 2015 at 6:47 AM - JeffTheMess: i think the recycle your waste plastic is best, haven't used one yet but if it works good, then its worth it

    May 26, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: that's awesome
May 26, 2015 at 7:40 AM - Mike Kelly: tell him to send me a pair :)
May 26, 2015 at 7:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: MK when you store wood ideally it is off the floor with scraps of wood between each course of wood to promote proper air circulation. If you are storing flooring it is best to store it in the room it will be installed in so that the moisture content of the wood doesn't change much after install.
    May 26, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: that's interesting
May 26, 2015 at 7:42 AM - Mike Kelly: https://woodgears.ca/lumber/rack.html i'm thinking something like this

May 26, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Les Hall: but that photo does not show the beauty of it because it is backlit
    May 26, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Les Hall: it's carbon fiber from a 1.0mm nozzle
May 26, 2015 at 7:45 AM - Mike Kelly: neat

May 26, 2015 at 7:55 AM - Les Hall: the combination works for me
May 26, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: jb, I thought of a use I have for flex
May 26, 2015 at 7:56 AM - Mike Kelly: the bacon is a flavor additive, not real bacon

May 26, 2015 at 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: if i had something good to print with it I probably would
May 26, 2015 at 8:23 AM - donhuevo: to quote you... dildo generator?
May 26, 2015 at 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: lol. maybe the awesome egg cup from thngiverse. ha
May 26, 2015 at 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: only thing would be a cool ice cube tray
    May 26, 2015 at 8:25 AM - jbigler1986: that i can think of anyways
May 26, 2015 at 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: at some point i want to try making RC wheels
May 26, 2015 at 8:31 AM - Mike Kelly: but first i'd need a direct feed setup
May 26, 2015 at 8:31 AM - donhuevo: I'm thinking the trick there would be to make a mold for oogoo
    May 26, 2015 at 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: you have one
    May 26, 2015 at 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: robo 1.6
    May 26, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: not dual :)
May 26, 2015 at 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: but yeah
May 26, 2015 at 8:34 AM - Mike Kelly: i could definitely try it on the 1.6
May 26, 2015 at 8:38 AM - donhuevo: or an oogoo mold made out of ABfnS
    May 26, 2015 at 8:44 AM - donhuevo: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Make-Your-Own-Sugru-Substitute/
May 26, 2015 at 8:55 AM - Mike Glass: Mornin again
May 26, 2015 at 9:01 AM - donhuevo: morning Mike
    May 26, 2015 at 9:01 AM - Mike Kelly: take a nap?
May 26, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: I wish, its like monday around here
May 26, 2015 at 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: fix this, fix that..
May 26, 2015 at 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: it's madness here as well. seems like all hell broke loose over the weekend
May 26, 2015 at 9:19 AM - Mike Kelly: we supposedly have an investor here
May 26, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG] sharpie prints
    May 26, 2015 at 9:22 AM - donhuevo: pretty
May 26, 2015 at 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: im just gonna but clear filament for now on, and color my own..lol
May 26, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Stephen Capistron: is the fish gold?
May 26, 2015 at 9:25 AM - Mike Glass: kinda, I should of had 2 golds going at the same time, but it is gold.
May 26, 2015 at 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: maybe mix brown when I do the other side of the fish
May 26, 2015 at 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: those are cool mike
May 26, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: it was tedious to get it to feed well
May 26, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: you saw the bird feeder I did didnt you?
May 26, 2015 at 9:42 AM - Stephen Capistron: you using XT for this?
May 26, 2015 at 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: haha, your funny
May 26, 2015 at 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: i did see the bird feeder
May 26, 2015 at 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: I tried it and failed. Either it wouldn't color the filament or they were pushed in to far and the filament was hard to extrude
May 26, 2015 at 9:48 AM - jbigler1986: might print a different one and try it
May 26, 2015 at 9:58 AM - jbigler1986: what would be cool to print with the transparent black
May 26, 2015 at 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: which part did you use?
    May 26, 2015 at 9:58 AM - jbigler1986: the one you have
May 26, 2015 at 9:59 AM - Mike Glass: did you get fine tip sharpie?
    May 26, 2015 at 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: regular ones
    May 26, 2015 at 9:59 AM - jbigler1986: whatever they are
May 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM - Mike Glass: should work then, were they new?
    May 26, 2015 at 10:00 AM - jbigler1986: yep. brand new
May 26, 2015 at 10:01 AM - jbigler1986: I didn't fiddle with it to much. i tried it in the middle of a filament change so i just wanted to get the print going again.
May 26, 2015 at 10:01 AM - Stephen Capistron: setup a servo to change color for you
May 26, 2015 at 10:03 AM - Mike Glass: actuators is what Im thinking
May 26, 2015 at 10:04 AM - Stephen Capistron: was that your design you had to get on paper this morning?
May 26, 2015 at 10:06 AM - Mike Glass: no..lol it was a six pack holder.
May 26, 2015 at 10:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: like that wooden one?
May 26, 2015 at 10:08 AM - Mike Glass: yea, I really want to start making them, I have a new brewery that we just put blue pine bar and tables in, so thought it would be a nice touch to make them some samples.
May 26, 2015 at 10:10 AM - Mike Kelly: you should make them some sampler holders as well
May 26, 2015 at 10:11 AM - Stephen Capistron: every brewery needs a beer flight holder
May 26, 2015 at 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: ohhh yea, they will be opening next month so need to get on it.
May 26, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Stephen Capistron: tap handles was one thing I thought you might be able to have fun printing a while back
May 26, 2015 at 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: man those are huge though
May 26, 2015 at 10:13 AM - Stephen Capistron: have you seen the mini ones?
May 26, 2015 at 10:14 AM - jbigler1986: I might try designing one of those or find one to print. they look good
May 26, 2015 at 10:23 AM - jbigler1986: working on my bits and screw driver holder now though
May 26, 2015 at 10:24 AM - jbigler1986: anyone interested in my camera mount? it uses the stock case screw
    May 26, 2015 at 10:27 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]

May 26, 2015 at 11:27 AM - jbigler1986: did he even have print issues?

May 26, 2015 at 11:27 AM - toy: the whole garage is 925sqft
May 26, 2015 at 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: he said he was having binding but i think it was probably just the threaded rods needing lubrication
May 26, 2015 at 11:28 AM - Mike Glass: whats the point of sound proofing, thats half the fun is hearing it.
May 26, 2015 at 11:29 AM - toy: machining at 3-4 in the morning might make me very unpopular w/o soundproofing lol
May 26, 2015 at 11:30 AM - Mike Glass: oh, see I dont have to worry about noise here.
May 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - Mike Kelly: you might disturb the elk, moose, and/or bison
May 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - toy: hehe i wish i had that problem
    May 26, 2015 at 11:31 AM - jbigler1986: HA
May 26, 2015 at 11:32 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i don't think your closest neighbor 100 miles away will hear anything
May 26, 2015 at 11:32 AM - toy: i have a stupid 4 unit apartment building like 10 ft behind me
May 26, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Mike Glass: we are like 50-75 yards apart in this subdivision
May 26, 2015 at 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: my home owners association sucks ass. you fart to loud late at night and they get complaints

May 26, 2015 at 11:36 AM - toy: i want to make a decent size robot arm, and outfit it with ice scuplting tools
May 26, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: sounds expensive
May 26, 2015 at 11:37 AM - toy: i have a picture in my head of edward scissorhands but robot version
May 26, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Glass: that is a sick mind
May 26, 2015 at 11:38 AM - toy: i would have the ice scuplting industry on lock down
May 26, 2015 at 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: that cnc is insane mike

May 26, 2015 at 11:44 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i linked that before as well
May 26, 2015 at 11:45 AM - toy: they need more videos of it making stuff
May 26, 2015 at 11:46 AM - toy: if i had a metal printer i would probably spend way too much time making heat exchangers
May 26, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Kelly: heh they would be good for that
    May 26, 2015 at 11:52 AM - jbigler1986: I want one of those
May 26, 2015 at 11:53 AM - toy: i think the biggest problem with consumer metal printers is the inert gases needed
May 26, 2015 at 11:54 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    May 26, 2015 at 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: start it at 1:18. beautiful

    May 26, 2015 at 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: deal
    May 26, 2015 at 11:59 AM - jbigler1986: $99,999

May 26, 2015 at 12:13 PM - Mike Glass: crazy morons
May 26, 2015 at 12:14 PM - toy: i like the comment about 1000 point turn to get it at the right angle for the approach onto the boards
May 26, 2015 at 12:15 PM - Mike Kelly: these are insane
May 26, 2015 at 12:16 PM - toy: im sure the local osha representative wouldnt be to pleased
May 26, 2015 at 12:17 PM - daniel871: Well, some PLA came in today for my back to basics printing. I think I'll print this thingiverse thing with S3D's default PLA high quality settings and see how that goes. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:767995
May 26, 2015 at 12:17 PM - jbigler1986: why not edit the settings to your liking?
May 26, 2015 at 12:18 PM - daniel871: Because every time I screw with the settings the print fails. :p
    May 26, 2015 at 12:18 PM - daniel871: Like, I can never get this to print: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:329238
May 26, 2015 at 12:18 PM - daniel871: Keeps snapping on the stem.
May 26, 2015 at 12:19 PM - daniel871: Or the material goes all melty and starts trying to run down the sides as the perimeters are printed.
May 26, 2015 at 12:19 PM - toy: whats the diameter of the stem?
May 26, 2015 at 12:22 PM - daniel871: I'll have to measure one of the broken ones when I get back home. It never breaks at the narrow point though.
May 26, 2015 at 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: looks like 5-10 mm
May 26, 2015 at 12:22 PM - daniel871: It's usually up near where the flare up to the cup portion starts.
May 26, 2015 at 12:22 PM - daniel871: So the print will be about 85-90% done and then break off.
May 26, 2015 at 12:23 PM - Mike Glass: what filament you using
    May 26, 2015 at 12:23 PM - daniel871: T-glase
May 26, 2015 at 12:23 PM - toy: maybe your bed is not level, and at the top the nozzle is crashing into the part causing it to snap?
May 26, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: go slower
    May 26, 2015 at 12:24 PM - Mike Glass: t-glase likes slowness
    May 26, 2015 at 12:24 PM - daniel871: How slow? I'm down at 20mm/s with it already.
May 26, 2015 at 12:25 PM - Mike Glass: enought where it wont knock it off
    May 26, 2015 at 12:25 PM - daniel871: :p
May 26, 2015 at 12:26 PM - daniel871: I'm thinking I may need to get better about the support material options instead of relying on the automatic functions.
May 26, 2015 at 12:29 PM - Mike Glass: that or just drink out of the wine box instead of a glass :D
May 26, 2015 at 12:30 PM - daniel871: My wine is in bottles already. This is mainly a test to see if it's possible to make the Robo print it.
May 26, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: dont get your hopes up, its a challenge
May 26, 2015 at 12:31 PM - Mike Glass: I would start with a regular cup
    May 26, 2015 at 12:35 PM - daniel871: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:155495
    May 26, 2015 at 12:35 PM - daniel871: Like that one?
    May 26, 2015 at 12:35 PM - daniel871: :p
    May 26, 2015 at 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: these http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:27718
    May 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - daniel871: Psh, that's a martini glass.
May 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: and you might want to read the descriptions, this turd hasnt even printed it yet.
May 26, 2015 at 12:38 PM - Mike Glass: and the person that has is using a UM2
May 26, 2015 at 12:53 PM - jbigler1986: you should be able to print it. i have printed some tall rose stems before. just trial and error until you find the right settings
May 26, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/1153595...6151862110621438466&oid=115359593149072195919 wonder if we could do this to a robo
May 26, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: I just wish it would fail more rapidly if it's going to fail. It's aggravating to be nearly finished and then fail.
May 26, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Stephen Capistron: No HfnC there
May 26, 2015 at 1:13 PM - Mike Kelly: also reduces it to a single motor
May 26, 2015 at 1:26 PM - jbigler1986: i love the coupler. kinda miss it
May 26, 2015 at 1:27 PM - Mike Kelly: lol
    May 26, 2015 at 1:34 PM - jbigler1986: that was a not joke
May 26, 2015 at 1:34 PM - Mike Glass: I have some spare hc I could make you a choker chain JB
    May 26, 2015 at 1:35 PM - jbigler1986: i still have my 2

May 26, 2015 at 2:19 PM - toy: never tried sry...
May 26, 2015 at 2:19 PM - toy: or will repetier give me errors
May 26, 2015 at 2:25 PM - daniel871: random, but barium sulfate and full chest/pelvic ct scans are great if you're looking to start a diet.

May 26, 2015 at 2:27 PM - daniel871: this must be how a volcano hot end feels.
May 26, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: toy i think it will prevent movement if there's no hot end thermistor
May 26, 2015 at 2:32 PM - Mike Kelly: though i'm not positive, it just behaves weirdly without that
May 26, 2015 at 2:46 PM - Stephen Capistron: that silly driver wouldn't be half bad if it could also have a torque setting
May 26, 2015 at 2:47 PM - Stephen Capistron: piece of equipment at work is a mix of T8 and T10 torx screws and is a pain in neck to reassemble to the proper torque specs
    May 26, 2015 at 2:51 PM - daniel871: would one of these help?http://www.amazon.com/Powerbuilt-940963-Digital-Torque-Adapter/dp/B009MBG4MG
