    Jul 2, 2015 9:17 PM - jbigler1986: Hello
    Jul 2, 2015 9:20 PM - Mike Glass: hello
Jul 2, 2015 9:25 PM - toy: i fixed my jam problem... or found a work around.... i reduced the bowden tubeto minimal
Jul 2, 2015 9:26 PM - toy: reduced ther path by like 50%
    Jul 3, 2015 4:18 AM - jbigler1986: Shortened the bowden tube?
Jul 3, 2015 4:37 AM - daniel871: Changed esteps, no joy. Getting aggravated.
Jul 3, 2015 4:40 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
Jul 3, 2015 4:46 AM - daniel871: And the standard stepper doesnt have the flats for the little plastic gear for the wade.
Jul 3, 2015 4:46 AM - daniel871: Guess I'm stick waiting on a replacement wire for the original stepper.
    Jul 3, 2015 4:47 AM - daniel871: Stuck
    Jul 3, 2015 5:04 AM - jbigler1986: Why do you need a replacement wire?
    Jul 3, 2015 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Jul 3, 2015 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: Bill
Jul 3, 2015 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: whats on the agenda for today?
    Jul 3, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: printing a nuts and bolts drawer/shelf
    Jul 3, 2015 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: tired of them laying around
Jul 3, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: domo aregato mister organizo
Jul 3, 2015 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: well my printer station is a mess right now. needed to do something
    Jul 3, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
    Jul 3, 2015 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: What r u up to
Jul 3, 2015 6:14 AM - Bill Monroe: at the moment, re imaging the drive on one of my laptops so I can give it to my son's finacee
    Jul 3, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: fiancee'?
Jul 3, 2015 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: however you spell it
    Jul 3, 2015 6:30 AM - jbigler1986: Running at 115 right now
Jul 3, 2015 6:33 AM - daniel871: Need the wire for the original robo stepper because none of the Amazon steppers I have will take the small wade gear.
Jul 3, 2015 6:35 AM - daniel871: And the geared stepper won't turn under its own power.
    Jul 3, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: why do you need a new wire?
    Jul 3, 2015 6:39 AM - jbigler1986: can't you just splice the 2 together?
    Jul 3, 2015 6:39 AM - daniel871: The original motor has a plug.
Jul 3, 2015 6:40 AM - daniel871: And the plug was loosely wired so the green and blue wires slid out of the plug easily.
Jul 3, 2015 6:41 AM - daniel871: I would need those crimping plug things to put in the white plug to try and fix it that way, but I suspect the plug itself is bad if the wires just slide out of their spots.
Jul 3, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: is the terminal still crimped to the wire?
Jul 3, 2015 6:45 AM - jbigler1986: your new regular stepper has no flats at all?
Jul 3, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: quality steppers dont have any flats
Jul 3, 2015 6:46 AM - daniel871: New steppers have one. Original robo has two.
Jul 3, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: time to grind one on then
    Jul 3, 2015 6:46 AM - jbigler1986: one is fine
    Jul 3, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: those arent steppers.. they're "steepers" :)
    Jul 3, 2015 6:46 AM - daniel871: The Robo wade gear won't go on.
    Jul 3, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: use some force
Jul 3, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: dremel tool
    Jul 3, 2015 6:47 AM - jbigler1986: hammer that bitch on. it's just plastic
Jul 3, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: son is half-way to the USA
Jul 3, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: don't go all crazy hammering it on. but hammering it on won't hurt anything
    Jul 3, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: awesome
    Jul 3, 2015 6:48 AM - daniel871: I have a vise I'll try to use to press itbon.
    Jul 3, 2015 6:48 AM - daniel871: It on
    Jul 3, 2015 6:48 AM - jbigler1986: there ya go
Jul 3, 2015 6:49 AM - Bill Monroe: real time air traffic tracking rocks
Jul 3, 2015 6:49 AM - daniel871: But if the gear crack I'm going to post a stream of swear words here.
    Jul 3, 2015 6:49 AM - jbigler1986: shouldn't
Jul 3, 2015 6:50 AM - jbigler1986: wait. i thought you were going direct drive?
Jul 3, 2015 6:50 AM - Bill Monroe: heat up the shaft with a torch and melt it on
Jul 3, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: I was, but the geared stepper appears to be fucked.
Jul 3, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: Also, gear went on smooth with tge vise.
    Jul 3, 2015 6:56 AM - daniel871: So I'm going back to the Wade.
Jul 3, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: i'm using gregs wade for bowden. it's an easy geared solution
    Jul 3, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
    Jul 3, 2015 7:08 AM - jbigler1986: finally disabled autofocus
Jul 3, 2015 7:23 AM - donhuevo: looks great jb
    Jul 3, 2015 7:24 AM - jbigler1986: u look great
    Jul 3, 2015 7:25 AM - donhuevo: haha
    Jul 3, 2015 7:25 AM - jbigler1986: that was for my wife i swear
Jul 3, 2015 7:34 AM - Bill Monroe: video has improved
    Jul 3, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: dremel tool to the rescue
    Jul 3, 2015 8:09 AM - jbigler1986: cut out 4 from an older x carriage i printed a while ago
    Jul 3, 2015 8:10 AM - jbigler1986: bearings that is
    Jul 3, 2015 8:26 AM - daniel871:
Jul 3, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: Regular stepper won't turn either, but the voltage reading on the ramps are good.
Jul 3, 2015 8:27 AM - daniel871: The regular stepper came already wired with a plug as well.
Jul 3, 2015 8:28 AM - jbigler1986: wiring issue or you fried the driver messing with the pot. did you use a ceramic screwdriver?
Jul 3, 2015 8:29 AM - daniel871: I used the same screwdriver I used to put together my desktop. Not sure if it is ceramic but its non magnetic, non conductive.
Jul 3, 2015 8:30 AM - daniel871: Also the tips for it will strip if you look at them wrong.
Jul 3, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: try it on x or y axis then send movement command
Jul 3, 2015 8:31 AM - jbigler1986: with the wiring that came with it
    Jul 3, 2015 8:32 AM - daniel871: Hm.
    Jul 3, 2015 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: see if the stepper/wiring at least works
Jul 3, 2015 8:32 AM - daniel871: It will go in one direction, but won't reverse. Put it on X plugin.
    Jul 3, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: got a picture of the wiring
Jul 3, 2015 8:34 AM - daniel871: Looks just like the Robo supplied plugin on the website except with a different stem for the gear mounting.
Jul 3, 2015 8:35 AM - daniel871: Oh, duh. Wont reverse because end stops are tripped by being at x home position.
    Jul 3, 2015 8:35 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Jul 3, 2015 8:36 AM - daniel871: So I just need the little ramps bit for the extruder.
    Jul 3, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: sounds like it
Jul 3, 2015 8:37 AM - jbigler1986: unless the pot is not right
Jul 3, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: Still a pain in the ass because thats more shipping time.
Jul 3, 2015 8:37 AM - daniel871: Pot somehow gives same readings as the other ones.
Jul 3, 2015 8:37 AM - jbigler1986: did you adjust it at all?
Jul 3, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: Red lead on pot, black lead on ground.
Jul 3, 2015 8:38 AM - daniel871: An 1/8 turn either way and checking before putting it back.
    Jul 3, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: then it should change
Jul 3, 2015 8:39 AM - daniel871: Reading changed but motor didnt respond
    Jul 3, 2015 8:39 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i didn't touch my voltage.
Jul 3, 2015 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: can't really help you out more than that honestly
Jul 3, 2015 8:53 AM - daniel871: There's clearly something wrong with the little board for the extruder. The other positions turn it without issue.
Jul 3, 2015 8:53 AM - daniel871: What is that piece called by itself, or do I have to order the entire board from Robo?
Jul 3, 2015 8:54 AM - daniel871: When I search Amazon for RAMPS 1.4 I get the main board but not the little pieces.
    Jul 3, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: stepper driver?
    Jul 3, 2015 9:01 AM - daniel871: http://www.amazon.com/Hobbypower-St..._cp_229_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1JGPQHWFX0PQYKKB8QDM

    Jul 3, 2015 9:01 AM - daniel871: These things.
    Jul 3, 2015 9:01 AM - donhuevo: stepper drivers
Jul 3, 2015 9:02 AM - daniel871: I meant an actual part number or something.
Jul 3, 2015 9:02 AM - donhuevo: that one you just linked to will work
    Jul 3, 2015 9:02 AM - donhuevo: A4988
Jul 3, 2015 9:03 AM - daniel871: I'll have basically replaced every part on this thing before I'm done.
Jul 3, 2015 9:05 AM - daniel871: Oh well. Going to close everything up so it doesn't collect dust or something waiting on parts and go figure out something else to do while it's raining.
Jul 3, 2015 9:05 AM - donhuevo: yep, I have just about all my original robo in pieces in a box
Jul 3, 2015 9:07 AM - daniel871: I'm a little aggravated by all the little things I'm finding that weren't clamped properly or were just riding loose so that the machine operating by itself would pull things out.
Jul 3, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: I was too, especially as it was my introduction to 3d printing and I knew absolutely nothing but look what we know now
Jul 3, 2015 9:12 AM - daniel871: It should really have a big "This is an introduction to 3d printing printer, where you will learn how the printer works and how to fine tune it for better performance" instead of "This thing is plug and play and the best 3D printer at it's price point!"
Jul 3, 2015 9:12 AM - daniel871: Because regular people that aren't already into tinkering things keep coming in expecting it to work flawlessly out of the box.
    Jul 3, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: yep.
Jul 3, 2015 9:13 AM - donhuevo: it took me two months to get my first print to complete
Jul 3, 2015 9:13 AM - jbigler1986: it took me 2 months to be actually happy with prints
Jul 3, 2015 9:13 AM - daniel871: I got some prints to go out of the box, but over the last few weeks the parts that shouldn't be failing have been failing.
Jul 3, 2015 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: i bent my hex heatbrak on like day 5 due to oozing
Jul 3, 2015 9:14 AM - daniel871: (wiring connections to things I haven't messed with, those stupid Y-axis belt clips, etc.)
    Jul 3, 2015 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: got e3dv6 as a replacement
Jul 3, 2015 9:15 AM - jbigler1986: and been tinkering with it pretty much since then
Jul 3, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: I'm just trying to give you a better spin to a god-awful situation.
Jul 3, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: their QA on just tightening up stuff needs fixed. at least the damn hotend
Jul 3, 2015 9:16 AM - daniel871: Oh, I know. I just feel like I should have bought a kit and put it together.
Jul 3, 2015 9:16 AM - donhuevo: at least you had the hex and smooth rods for the y and an upper z support
    Jul 3, 2015 9:16 AM - daniel871: And learned that way.
Jul 3, 2015 9:16 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i got mine after all of those goodies were added
Jul 3, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i really didn't mind fixing stuff as i had no clue about 3d printing. now look
Jul 3, 2015 9:17 AM - donhuevo: yep, they were offering it as a kit when I bought mine and that's the one thing I regret. I let them assemble it
    Jul 3, 2015 9:18 AM - jbigler1986: i wish they would offer a kit now
Jul 3, 2015 9:18 AM - daniel871: Then you'd have to deal with missing parts or d.o.a. parts.
Jul 3, 2015 9:19 AM - daniel871: It's thunderstorming and I'm achy as hell, so probably not a good day for tinkering to begin with.
Jul 3, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: that's actually what i have been hounding Braydon and Harry about. He offered me a refurb with integrated lead screws for 500. I keep asking him how much if they give it to me in a kit and no hotend.
    Jul 3, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: can't get a freaking answer at all
Jul 3, 2015 9:20 AM - daniel871: I'd take the deal and frankenstein both printers.
Jul 3, 2015 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: they just wont answer my question one way or the other
Jul 3, 2015 9:21 AM - daniel871: Noticed PrintedSolid doesn't have the used printers any more either.
Jul 3, 2015 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: tell me they can go lower or tell me that 500 is as low as they can. not hard
Jul 3, 2015 9:21 AM - donhuevo: I was here the other day when you were talking to Harry about it and it seemed like the linear steppers hadn't landed yet
Jul 3, 2015 9:21 AM - daniel871: Harry was dodging JB pretty hard actually.
    Jul 3, 2015 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: they haven't. still can just give me a price though
    Jul 3, 2015 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: that's their answer. "we haven't received the new screws yet"
Jul 3, 2015 9:22 AM - daniel871: "What email" and "Oh there it is" and "I'll have to ask somebody else about that but I'll look into it"
Jul 3, 2015 9:22 AM - donhuevo: you could always go that wantao route. $429 is less than $500
Jul 3, 2015 9:22 AM - donhuevo: carry the one...
Jul 3, 2015 9:23 AM - jbigler1986: yeah. seems as though Jerry is the only really helpful one there
Jul 3, 2015 9:23 AM - daniel871: Oh well. I'm going to go over to my dad's and tinker in the shop with some stuff I can actually count on working.
Jul 3, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: maybe Brian too but I have not dealt with him
Jul 3, 2015 9:24 AM - donhuevo: to my knowledge, Harry's job is the web design and not much else
Jul 3, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: yeah it is. he pretends like he knows more though
Jul 3, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: I just want an answer one way or the other and stop dicking around
Jul 3, 2015 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: that's what is annoying the hell out of me
Jul 3, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: Jerry is the most helpfull that ive delt with
    Jul 3, 2015 9:26 AM - donhuevo: have a snickers jb
    Jul 3, 2015 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: yeah Jerry is awesome
Jul 3, 2015 9:26 AM - Mike Glass: I skype him and answers right back.
Jul 3, 2015 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: i just email and he is pretty quick with that too
Jul 3, 2015 9:28 AM - donhuevo: so I'm trying the latest slic3r plugin for repetier and so far so good
    Jul 3, 2015 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: i just downloaded cura. forgot about it
    Jul 3, 2015 9:29 AM - jbigler1986: thanks for the reminder'
    Jul 3, 2015 9:29 AM - donhuevo: yep
Jul 3, 2015 9:29 AM - jbigler1986: and morning MG (although afternoon here)
    Jul 3, 2015 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: mother fucker
Jul 3, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Glass: hey guys, yea was up late last night talking with old friends from the ole mplayer days.
    Jul 3, 2015 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: just ruined that print
    Jul 3, 2015 9:31 AM - donhuevo: that's gonna be my fault
    Jul 3, 2015 9:31 AM - donhuevo: sorry
    Jul 3, 2015 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: i had usb connected and opened cura
    Jul 3, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Glass: oops
    Jul 3, 2015 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: yep
    Jul 3, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: 2 hours in. oh well
Jul 3, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: I have been sd printing only that I have my spherebot hooked up.
    Jul 3, 2015 9:32 AM - donhuevo: I take full responsibility.
Jul 3, 2015 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: hmmm. where is the option to edit dimensions on the new cura
    Jul 3, 2015 9:36 AM - Mike Glass: scaling?
    Jul 3, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: of the build platform
Jul 3, 2015 9:49 AM - AxisLab: Info straight from the source on the cura stuff here https://ultimaker.com/en/community/view/16409-thoughts-about-the-new-cura?page=8 , really nowhere near ready for release yet if you ask me.
Jul 3, 2015 10:34 AM - Mike Kelly: Hello everyone
Jul 3, 2015 10:37 AM - jbigler1986: get out of here. ur on vaca

Jul 3, 2015 10:39 AM - donhuevo: jb is breaking shit
Jul 3, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: So just another normal day around here
    Jul 3, 2015 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: yep
Jul 3, 2015 10:40 AM - jbigler1986: should geared stepper be about the same temps as x?
Jul 3, 2015 10:40 AM - donhuevo: I ended up cooling my geared stepper
    Jul 3, 2015 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: yeah probably gonna do that.
Jul 3, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: Yeah geared steppers get super hot for some reason
Jul 3, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: I need to ask Martin about that
Jul 3, 2015 10:44 AM - Mike Kelly: See if the ones he ships with bondtech's get that hot
Jul 3, 2015 10:46 AM - AxisLab: UM2 steppers get hotter than hell. I was worried they might be going bad. Maybe they're just geared.
Jul 3, 2015 10:47 AM - donhuevo: do they have gearboxes on them?
Jul 3, 2015 10:51 AM - AxisLab: you must be psychic [IMG]
    Jul 3, 2015 10:52 AM - donhuevo: haha!
Jul 3, 2015 10:53 AM - AxisLab: No, i guess mine are regular hellfire steppers then.
    Jul 3, 2015 10:55 AM - jbigler1986: lol
Jul 3, 2015 10:58 AM - Mike Kelly: Always a joker. They work up to 80C so some heat is fine
Jul 3, 2015 10:59 AM - donhuevo: maybe the stepper drivers are turned up to extra juicy
    Jul 3, 2015 11:00 AM - Mike Kelly: Yeah that's my guess
Jul 3, 2015 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Mike

    Jul 3, 2015 11:16 AM - donhuevo: haha
    Jul 3, 2015 11:16 AM - Mike Glass: lol

Jul 3, 2015 2:13 PM - Mike Kelly: Holy shit. There was another brewery a mile walk away so we're there. Southern pacific brewin
Jul 3, 2015 2:14 PM - Mike Glass: where you at?
Jul 3, 2015 2:19 PM - Mike Kelly: City? San Fran
Jul 3, 2015 2:20 PM - Mike Glass: oh, yea didnt know where you went. just vacation?
Jul 3, 2015 2:21 PM - Mike Kelly: The couple I set up got married on Wednesday so we went to that then spending the 4th here
Jul 3, 2015 2:22 PM - donhuevo: mikematch.com. I'll see if the domain is available
Jul 3, 2015 2:29 PM - Mike Glass: what are you up too don?
Jul 3, 2015 2:33 PM - donhuevo: virtually assembling parts on the core xy so I can take measurements for other parts I haven't designed yet.
Jul 3, 2015 2:34 PM - donhuevo: in other words, just effin around until the pharmacies close
Jul 3, 2015 2:37 PM - Mike Glass: I didnt have a very productive day, cut a few things out on the cnc, now printing letters out for it.
Jul 3, 2015 2:38 PM - donhuevo: don't think you're supposed to be productive today
Jul 3, 2015 2:39 PM - donhuevo: I'm sure you're familiar with FTO. This is an FNO day
    Jul 3, 2015 2:41 PM - Mike Glass: Friday's usually are.
Jul 3, 2015 2:42 PM - donhuevo: you're doing exactly what your supposed to be doing... mostly nothing
    Jul 3, 2015 2:53 PM - jbigler1986: Booya
    Jul 3, 2015 2:54 PM - donhuevo: woot
Jul 3, 2015 3:20 PM - daniel871: Well, the new Terminator movie was surprisingly fun.
    Jul 3, 2015 3:21 PM - donhuevo: cool!
    Jul 3, 2015 4:36 PM - jbigler1986: Hola
    Jul 3, 2015 4:45 PM - toy: i want to build a battlebot
    Jul 3, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: Ha. That would be fun
    Jul 3, 2015 5:11 PM - daniel871: Arduino controlled Terminator model.
    Jul 3, 2015 5:25 PM - jbigler1986: Did you order your stuff?
    Jul 3, 2015 5:32 PM - daniel871: The stepper boards? Yeah.
    Jul 3, 2015 6:45 PM - jbigler1986: hopefully that does it
    Jul 3, 2015 7:10 PM - jbigler1986: anyone here?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:10 PM - Printed Solid: I just hopped on. what's up?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:11 PM - jbigler1986: just wondering. no real reason
    Jul 3, 2015 7:12 PM - Printed Solid: ha
Jul 3, 2015 7:13 PM - Printed Solid: have you encountered anyone who is using that mattercontrol touch?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:14 PM - jbigler1986: i have not actually. have you?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:15 PM - jbigler1986: G1 E100 F90
    Jul 3, 2015 7:16 PM - jbigler1986: shit. wrong box
    Jul 3, 2015 7:16 PM - Printed Solid: nope.
Jul 3, 2015 7:16 PM - Printed Solid: Simplify should make one.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:17 PM - jbigler1986: i bet it would be sweet
Jul 3, 2015 7:17 PM - jbigler1986: have you tried the new cura?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:17 PM - Printed Solid: nope.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:18 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm
Jul 3, 2015 7:18 PM - jbigler1986: not surprising on the matter touch
    Jul 3, 2015 7:18 PM - jbigler1986: worst software ever
Jul 3, 2015 7:19 PM - jbigler1986: looks pretty. but works like a 10 year old built it
Jul 3, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: i was so pissed when they posted about their punch arm thing. it just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason
    Jul 3, 2015 7:22 PM - jbigler1986: Matterhackers support is horrible
    Jul 3, 2015 7:23 PM - Printed Solid: agreed.
Jul 3, 2015 7:23 PM - Printed Solid: Well, the punch arm thing. I can't comment on their support. I've never contacted them.
Jul 3, 2015 7:25 PM - jbigler1986: i contacted them shorty after i got the robo. talked to someone on the phone and told him the issue. he told me to email him directly. so i did. literally never heard another word from him again. then i posted the issue on their forum and got no response for almost 2 weeks. so that gives you an idea
    Jul 3, 2015 7:29 PM - Printed Solid: i see.
Jul 3, 2015 7:29 PM - Printed Solid: lol. I feel bad if it takes me 2 hrs to get back to someone
Jul 3, 2015 7:30 PM - Printed Solid: I think that people in those support roles lose the empathy for how crazy users are going while they are trying to figure shit out.
Jul 3, 2015 7:30 PM - jbigler1986: I need to contact Jerry about a printer. Since Braydon is extremely busy and not sure how much Harry knows about it.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:30 PM - Printed Solid: Jerry's usually great.
Jul 3, 2015 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i have dealt with him a few times and he was awesome
Jul 3, 2015 7:31 PM - jbigler1986: almost bought a davinci 1.0 today. was gonna hack the hell out of it
Jul 3, 2015 7:32 PM - Printed Solid: I just bristle at the idea of davinci.
Jul 3, 2015 7:32 PM - Printed Solid: poisoning the well.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:32 PM - jbigler1986: agreed. but it was only $250
Jul 3, 2015 7:33 PM - Printed Solid: davinci, makerbot, and CTC are, IMO, this industries worst enemies at the moment.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:33 PM - jbigler1986: i hate makernot
Jul 3, 2015 7:33 PM - jbigler1986: would sell their printer if i won one
Jul 3, 2015 7:34 PM - jbigler1986: i'm to busy breaking my robo to dive into another that needs fiddled with
Jul 3, 2015 7:34 PM - jbigler1986: am looking into another printer though
    Jul 3, 2015 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jul 3, 2015 7:37 PM - jbigler1986: current setup
Jul 3, 2015 7:37 PM - Printed Solid: upside down?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: had to
Jul 3, 2015 7:38 PM - jbigler1986: works great. have tested up 130mm/s so far
    Jul 3, 2015 7:40 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jul 3, 2015 7:41 PM - Printed Solid: ok. duh, that's your bowden.
Jul 3, 2015 7:41 PM - jbigler1986: there was a print i did with it at 80mm/s. not that fast but the quality was amazing at .2 height
Jul 3, 2015 7:41 PM - Printed Solid: I was wondering where the hot end was. Of course it would be upside wodn.
Jul 3, 2015 7:41 PM - Printed Solid: How about acceleration?
Jul 3, 2015 7:42 PM - jbigler1986: stock, haven't messed with that. i should. not sure where or what to change on that end yet
Jul 3, 2015 7:43 PM - Printed Solid: ultimaker stock has acceleration at 4000
Jul 3, 2015 7:43 PM - Printed Solid: I typically run my prints at 40-50 and it still finished everything faster than anything else
Jul 3, 2015 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: do i need to edit firmware if i want to change travel speed to something like 200/250
Jul 3, 2015 7:44 PM - jbigler1986: or just change it in the slicer
Jul 3, 2015 7:44 PM - Printed Solid: for most prints, acceleration matters way more than speed because you don't have time to get to that speed
Jul 3, 2015 7:44 PM - Printed Solid: not sure.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:45 PM - jbigler1986: let me check acceleration
Jul 3, 2015 7:46 PM - Printed Solid: you have an lcd, right?
Jul 3, 2015 7:46 PM - Printed Solid: you can change all that from there.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:46 PM - jbigler1986: #define DEFAULT_MAX_ACCELERATION {1500,1500,1500,5000} // X, Y, Z, E maximum start speed for accelerated moves. E default values are good for Skeinforge 40+, for older versions raise them a lot. #define DEFAULT_ACCELERATION 1300 // X, Y, Z and E max acceleration in mm/s^2 for printing moves /robo #define DEFAULT_RETRACT_ACCELERATION 3000
    Jul 3, 2015 7:46 PM - jbigler1986: i do have an lcd
    Jul 3, 2015 7:47 PM - jbigler1986: so 1300?
    Jul 3, 2015 7:49 PM - Printed Solid: I'd try it at 2000.
Jul 3, 2015 7:49 PM - Printed Solid: from the LCD. Don't bother with firmware changes.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:50 PM - jbigler1986: sold

Jul 3, 2015 7:50 PM - Printed Solid: I'm weird. I tweak acceleration on nearly every print.
Jul 3, 2015 7:51 PM - Printed Solid: alright. I'm signing off. Looking forward to hearing your results.
    Jul 3, 2015 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: have a good 4th
Jul 3, 2015 7:51 PM - Printed Solid: thanks. you too.

    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:21 AM - daniel871: Don has the x and y accelleration at 800.
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:34 AM - jbigler1986: travel speed he has at 300
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:34 AM - jbigler1986: acceleration stock is 1300 so i'm sure he has higher than that
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:47 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:48 AM - jbigler1986: Morning.
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:50 AM - jbigler1986: Damn set screw came out of my drive gear during a print somehow. Suggest any material to use to help hold the drive gear in case the set screw comes loose again?
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: I figured you'd know exactly what to use... JB Weld :)
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:51 AM - jbigler1986: well i would like to be able to remove it if needed. lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: oh.. well in that case :)
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: you dont have the facets on that motor?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:52 AM - jbigler1986: i do somewhere
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: i suppose you could try a little loctite blue
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:53 AM - jbigler1986: on the set screw itself?
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:53 AM - Bill Monroe: ya
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:54 AM - jbigler1986: think i'm gonna need to add a fan to this stepper today. get's pretty damn warm
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe: never had mine back off though
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:55 AM - Bill Monroe: steppers heat up when they're either too small, running on too low voltage, or the driver is way off
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:56 AM - Bill Monroe: or some combination thereof
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:56 AM - jbigler1986: from what i have read and heard the geared steppers run pretty hot
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, the added load of the gear drive
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:57 AM - jbigler1986: that's the one i was refering to
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:58 AM - Bill Monroe: its suprising how much one of those gear drives adds to the load
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: the heat may transfer to the drive gear which may soften the filament. not sure yet. haven't tested enough
    Jul 4, 2015 at 6:00 AM - jbigler1986: that's why i was thinking about adding a fan
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont really think so.. you'd think if it would get that much heat to the filament through the shaft of the drive, you'd see the plastic mount softening too
    Jul 4, 2015 at 6:01 AM - jbigler1986: that is true
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: if the drive you hav e integral or can it be removed?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: from the motor, that is
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:02 AM - jbigler1986: geared part or inside the motor?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: i mean, could you remove the drive and put it on a different motor?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:05 AM - jbigler1986: Kinda like with the lead screw swap?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: nono hang on a sec
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:06 AM - jbigler1986: Or the drive shaft itself?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: these are reduciton drives that are a seperate part from the motor, commonl called "gearheads": http://www.animatics.com/products/g...s-planetary-gearheads/oem-nema-17-series.html
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:09 AM - Bill Monroe: is yours like that? or are the gears part of the motor assembly?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:09 AM - jbigler1986: The gears can be removed. I removed them the other day bc i was curious
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:10 AM - jbigler1986: Then the drive shaft inside the stepper has teeth
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:10 AM - Bill Monroe: ah
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:11 AM - Bill Monroe: well, the only practical recourse would be to up the drive volts to 24, 36, or even 48.. but that would be a realtively major robo mod
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: or serach for a gear motor with more torque available
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:15 AM - Bill Monroe: ive got a bunch of gearheads.. but they're all 34's
    Jul 4, 2015 at 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: wait, I do have one 17.. it's a right angle drive though.. 200:1
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: and mondo heavy
    Jul 4, 2015 at 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: oh wait.. it's actually a NEMA 14
    Jul 4, 2015 at 6:21 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah i will just add a fan.
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: actually, you could replace the driver with a plug, bring out the step and direction signals to an external driver running on 48 volts, and use a nema 23 motor with a gearhead....
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:24 AM - Bill Monroe: I did that on the prodigy refit..
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: if you're going to try to cool it with a fan, best design-in some fins for the motor.. heat-transfer just blowing on a motor wont be very efficient

    Jul 4, 2015 at 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: What is ur acceleration?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 8:20 AM - jbigler1986: Changed mine to 2000 last night
Jul 4, 2015 at 8:22 AM - jbigler1986: Like the sound. Sounds smooth
Jul 4, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: i tried 2000 didnt see an difference
Jul 4, 2015 at 8:23 AM - Bill Monroe: wierd
Jul 4, 2015 at 8:26 AM - jbigler1986: Did you change max accel? Its set at 1500 i believe
    Jul 4, 2015 at 8:26 AM - Bill Monroe: I did not
Jul 4, 2015 at 8:27 AM - Bill Monroe: just changed it using the panel

Jul 4, 2015 at 9:11 AM - donhuevo: happy fourth Mike
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:11 AM - Bill Monroe: i've been using Makerbot True Blue exclusivley for a couple on months.. very superior results. Some models blew away the Stratasys machine
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: Thanks Don. you as well
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Mike Glass: I heard Makerbot is nice stuff
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:12 AM - Bill Monroe: i think so.. not a single bad print, jam, nothing, for 2 entire reels
    Jul 4, 2015 at 9:14 AM - jbigler1986: Happy 4th everyone
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: man, you can tell my grandkid's father is a marine
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Bill Monroe: my army son came home from Korea yesterday, his brother is here with his family to meet him.. this morning I raised the flag, 4th of July and all, and my granddaughter stopped my grandson from playing with the dog and told him to remember to face the flag
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:30 AM - Bill Monroe: OK jb.. accel to 2000.. heating up now
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:36 AM - Bill Monroe: so far OK
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:38 AM - Bill Monroe: oh, one more thing about the makerbot Blue... zero stringing.. none ... zip
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Mike Glass: Then you found the right heat for it
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:39 AM - Bill Monroe: actually anywhere from 190 to 210.. turned out exactly the same
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Bill Monroe: excellent bridging too.. the stuff was really superior for me
Jul 4, 2015 at 9:40 AM - Bill Monroe: the V6 may deserve some of the credit

Jul 4, 2015 at 10:21 AM - jbigler1986: Changing the max work for you?
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:24 AM - Bill Monroe: havnt seen a significant change.. although it would be hard to beat the makerbot stuff I'd been using..

Jul 4, 2015 at 10:40 AM - BryZad: make a big diffrence for the amount of effort and time ?
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:40 AM - Bill Monroe: worth every penny and every minute it took
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:41 AM - BryZad: do you have the parts you used?

Jul 4, 2015 at 10:41 AM - BryZad: no yet jb
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:41 AM - BryZad: i need to get a parts list
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Bill Monroe: I didnt save the links or anything, but JB is the expert on it
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:42 AM - jbigler1986: Look at my guide. It has the parts needed
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:42 AM - Bill Monroe: that, the V6 and a panel turns the robo into a no-fuss printing success
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Bill Monroe: unless you're jb, then it gets broken and re-fixed on a regular cycle :)
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: Howdy
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: Pretty much
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: MK
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:43 AM - donhuevo: happy fourth miguel
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:43 AM - jbigler1986: Got my 2nd gregs hooked up
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:44 AM - jbigler1986: MK. Get outta here. Go have some beers
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:45 AM - jbigler1986: Can we temp ban people while on vaca?
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: Lol
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: Happy 4th everyone
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:45 AM - BryZad: howdy Mike
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: Sup bry
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:46 AM - BryZad: not much
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:46 AM - BryZad: just got asked to start to make Halo 4 weapons
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:46 AM - BryZad: Halo4/5
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:46 AM - Mike Kelly: Which have ones?
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:47 AM - BryZad: was going to look at getting another printer to make props pieces
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:47 AM - Mike Kelly: Build a herculien
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:49 AM - BryZad: was looking at getting the R2 but i hear wasnt worth it
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:49 AM - BryZad: I will look into the hercuilen
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: Also you'll be waiting forever
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:49 AM - BryZad: not sure if dual printheads would be worth it or not ?
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: I love it but it's not for everyone
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: Hips support owns
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00PN...ref=plSrch&dpPl=1&dpID=51FpB+wA13L&ref=plSrch
    Jul 4, 2015 at 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: Fine for 2nd gregs wade?
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:54 AM - BryZad: thats what i was thinking mike with supports
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:55 AM - BryZad: Well i am gett 300 for cast of that m45 shot gun
Jul 4, 2015 at 10:56 AM - BryZad: so i should start building the Hercuilen
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:01 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VA...1.8+degree&dpPl=1&dpID=41GbELh1w8L&ref=plSrch same as current robo extruder stepper?
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: Then you can enclose it and print with abs
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: It's kinda expensive though. Like 1800 bom
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:02 AM - donhuevo: is it because of all the smooth rods? the extruded aluminum?
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:02 AM - Mike Kelly: Most of the cost is in the large build plate
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: Mike costed it out you'd need to ask him
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: MK that should give same steps as stock ?
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: Jb is go with the second one
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: Yeah it would be the same steps
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: Torque just has to do with the length of coils
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:03 AM - jbigler1986: Thats what thought. It is 1.8degree wich is same as stock
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:04 AM - Mike Kelly: The first one is bipolar
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:04 AM - donhuevo: 200 steps per revolution
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:06 AM - BryZad: hmmmm i wonder now
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:06 AM - donhuevo: Werner built his own 120V build plate for probably not a lot of money
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:07 AM - donhuevo: I may need to go that route too
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:08 AM - donhuevo:
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:09 AM - donhuevo: start about 4 minutes in
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:09 AM - jbigler1986: Don i think its gonna end up finishing this time. :)
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:09 AM - donhuevo: it better
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: Did you answer me earlier on what acceleration you sre running?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:10 AM - jbigler1986: Sre = are
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:11 AM - donhuevo: acceleration for what?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:12 AM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:14 AM - jbigler1986: 800. Interesting
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:17 AM - donhuevo: I may bring that back up a little after I reprint my idler ends. The next version will make the x belt pulley adjustable to add tension
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:18 AM - jbigler1986:
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:18 AM - jbigler1986: Holy hell
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:19 AM - Mike Glass: haha fuckme
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:20 AM - BryZad: hey mike g
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:20 AM - jbigler1986: Different between jerk and acceleration?
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:20 AM - Mike Glass: hey Bry happy 4th
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:21 AM - BryZad: happy 4th man
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:21 AM - BryZad: hey Mike K was saying you priced out the herculien
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:22 AM - Mike Glass: yep, around 1800-2000
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:22 AM - BryZad: Damn
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:23 AM - BryZad: I have been asked to pump out a few more diffrent Halo 4/5 Weapons and was looking into another printer
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:23 AM - Mike Glass: there is a guy selling all his parts right now, something came up and has 1700 invested, but probably could get it fro 1200
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:24 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah i havent contacted that guy yet
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:25 AM - Mike Glass: I would if I could swing it, but not right now with the dog being sick.
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:25 AM - donhuevo: some of the comments were people trying to get him to part it out. may want to hurry
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:26 AM - BryZad: was looking into the R2 but people say not worth it
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:26 AM - jbigler1986: Don should i up the jerk speed
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:27 AM - donhuevo: per Tom, jerk should be 20-30% of your print speed
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:28 AM - Mike Glass: you wont see the r2 for another 8 months im sure
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:28 AM - BryZad: but is it goign to be worht the price point
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:28 AM - BryZad: dual print head
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:28 AM - BryZad: hips support would be the thing
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: so 30 it will be

Jul 4, 2015 at 11:29 AM - jbigler1986: not sure if it will allow different materials
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:29 AM - donhuevo: I'd actually like to figure out a way to have jerk be a formula instead of a constant given that speeds are different depending on where you are on the print
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:33 AM - Mike Glass: I like the smothieboard programming settings and firmware update process, so simple.
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:33 AM - donhuevo: I'm looking forward to playing with it
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:34 AM - donhuevo: wait...
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:34 AM - donhuevo: I'm looking forward to playing with the smoothieboard
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: Haha
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:34 AM - jbigler1986: Good save
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:35 AM - donhuevo: decided to wipe and reload my iPod. taking forever
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:35 AM - Mike Kelly: Jerk is the rate of acceleration change. So going from not moving to accelerating
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:36 AM - donhuevo: jerk is acceleration's acceleration?
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: Essentially
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:36 AM - jbigler1986: Gonna up it and see what happens. Would a cube be a Good test for it or something else
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: Velocity is m/s, acceleration is m/s^2, and jerk is m/s^3
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:37 AM - donhuevo: Tom has a resonance test you can try. Mike knows where to find it
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:43 AM - toy: happy 4th yall
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:47 AM - Mike Glass: hey toy, you also
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:49 AM - toy: what do u guys thinbk of this one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Linear-Actu...082?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c9c97097a
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:50 AM - toy: maybe this.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/MONOCARRIER...287?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item339a9bbae7
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:50 AM - donhuevo: jb...
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: how fast can they move toy?
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:53 AM - toy: good question lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:53 AM - toy: depends on the stepper
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:54 AM - toy: the 2nd one is 10mm pitch
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:54 AM - toy: i clocked my big nema 17's around 5-6 revs a sec
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:55 AM - toy: these steppers http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-x-Stepper...BOT-REPRAP-MAKERBOT-Arduino-P4V-/111005363513
    Jul 4, 2015 at 11:57 AM - jbigler1986: u and ebay
Jul 4, 2015 at 11:59 AM - toy: i would recommend those steppers... best i found
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:01 PM - jbigler1986: is ur metal printer running?
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: looks likes the ones I got for the cnc.
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:01 PM - Mike Glass: mine were 4 wires though
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:02 PM - toy: the metal printer works great now that i reduced my bowden tube run
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:02 PM - toy: but i want a new y-axis lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:03 PM - toy: the x and z axis are perfect
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:03 PM - toy: i still need to make the floating print head
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:04 PM - toy: so bumps are very painful lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:04 PM - toy: and i need to get a new bed...
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:05 PM - toy: and i want to mount the extruders on a rail of some sort so they go up and down with relationship to the z-axis
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: Just start over. Lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:07 PM - toy: so i can further reduce the bowden tube down to around 6 inches
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:07 PM - jbigler1986: Should have built a sli printer
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:08 PM - toy: my design is great and modular so any upgrades/changes is a snap
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:08 PM - jbigler1986: Ton of money into that thing
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:08 PM - toy: not my money =)
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:09 PM - toy: only 1200 so far
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:09 PM - toy: and it outprints the robo all day
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:09 PM - jbigler1986: Got no issues with the robo
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:09 PM - toy: but my acrylic bed isnt that good ...so the i have a small area on the bed that is perfectly tram to the head lol
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:10 PM - jbigler1986: Acrylic bed?
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:10 PM - toy: i moved the extruders ALOT closer and reduced the tube length.... and it cleared up my jamming problems
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:10 PM - toy: so yes it was a friction problem
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:11 PM - toy: i recycled my og robo acrylic bed ( which is crap)
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:11 PM - jbigler1986: Thought it was a friction thing. I think that gets overlooked when people get bowden jamming
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: Kinda glad that i figured that out
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:12 PM - toy: im sure you right.... the addition friction from the teeth marks were to much for my wimping pressfit connectors to hold
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: Plus the length of the tube. To long and it just becomes to much
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:13 PM - toy: yup
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:14 PM - jbigler1986: Hobbed bolt works great.
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:14 PM - toy: so the metal printer is still in the testing phase... but has really great potential
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:16 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. I imagine thats how it is with any built printer
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: don if you are around it has like 40 minutes left
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:27 PM - donhuevo: I'm still here. trying to decide if I'm opening up autocad or not
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:27 PM - jbigler1986: u married or single?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:28 PM - donhuevo: single
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:28 PM - jbigler1986: ahhh. that explains why you have so much time
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:29 PM - donhuevo: dual monitors here and at the office helps too
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: just about to fire up the grill
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:29 PM - donhuevo: go get you some
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:29 PM - jbigler1986: yeah i have dual monitors as well at work. it would suck without them
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:29 PM - donhuevo: might actually be time to try three
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:30 PM - jbigler1986: why not
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:30 PM - donhuevo: exactly
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:30 PM - jbigler1986: i havent tried 3 anywhre
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:30 PM - donhuevo: me either
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:35 PM - jbigler1986: seems like it would give me a headache
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:35 PM - donhuevo: go grill already damnit
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: i'm on my phone
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:36 PM - donhuevo: you multitasker you
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: 80 percent of the time i'm on this chat is from my phone
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:36 PM - jbigler1986: except from 8-5 during the week
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:39 PM - donhuevo: gotcha
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:39 PM - donhuevo: I should have gotten out the smoker last night
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:44 PM - jbigler1986: I thought about it
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:45 PM - jbigler1986: Should have
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:46 PM - donhuevo: I haven't done up a pork shoulder in too long
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:47 PM - Mike Glass: I have 4 monitors at work..lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:48 PM - donhuevo: well you have minions too
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: 2-23 and 2-20" one turned in portrait mode.
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:48 PM - mayhem: good afternoon uys, i have a quick question
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: what up mayhem
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:49 PM - KendrickTV: is 0.1 the highest I can print?
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:49 PM - mayhem: how do you remove the hot end from the robo 3d printer? i have a jam and its in between where you insert the filament and the hot end
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:49 PM - mayhem: i tried to stick a 14awg copper wire in there and push but it didnt work
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:49 PM - Mike Glass: remove the two screws in back that holds the filament in. you may be able to see it sticking out the top
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:49 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:50 PM - KendrickTV: mayhem was your extruder heated wile sticking the wire in?
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:50 PM - mayhem: yes it was heated
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:50 PM - Mike Glass: with a .4 nozzle you can print .3
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:51 PM - mayhem: so i have to remove the big wheel cog?
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:51 PM - KendrickTV: mike wb with the default nozzle

    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:51 PM - Mike Glass: .4 is default
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:51 PM - donhuevo: default nozzle is a .4 so .3 layer height is the max you'd want to go
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:51 PM - donhuevo: most stick with .2
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:52 PM - KendrickTV: woa really? o.o
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:52 PM - KendrickTV: gg
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:52 PM - KendrickTV: ive been using 0.1
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:52 PM - Mike Glass: depends on what you are needing, .1 is great for detailed stuff
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: or small objects
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:53 PM - Mike Glass: I use .25 speeds it up alot for what I do.
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: .25 dammit
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:54 PM - Mike Glass: lol
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM - KendrickTV: hahaha thanks guys
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM - KendrickTV: right now ive been working on a pla phone case
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM - KendrickTV: its a nightmare
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM - KendrickTV: but i think ive got it
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM - Mike Glass: great
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:55 PM - KendrickTV: what do you guys print?
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:56 PM - donhuevo: mostly printer parts
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:56 PM - KendrickTV: ah
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:58 PM - jbigler1986: i print stuff to break my printer. then print stuff to fix it. lol.
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: I print a little bit of everything
Jul 4, 2015 at 12:59 PM - Mike Glass: I print parts for machines to print or cut more parts.
    Jul 4, 2015 at 12:59 PM - jbigler1986: for a phone case I would stick with .1 or .15
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - donhuevo: and don't forget the little toy boats
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - donhuevo: we print those too
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: it wont be as strong though
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - KendrickTV: daww little boats
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - donhuevo: but NEVER Yoda
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - Mike Glass: thicker layers is always stronger
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - KendrickTV: really?
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - KendrickTV: think layers are stronger
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:00 PM - KendrickTV: i guess that makes a ton of sense
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:01 PM - Mike Glass: yup
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: yeah but for a phone case i would want it to have more detail. that's just me
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - KendrickTV: oh another thing that I have
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - Mike Glass: detail, a phone case?
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - KendrickTV: my first layer
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - KendrickTV: like the bottom
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - jbigler1986: yeah
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - KendrickTV: has the LOWEST quality when looking at the bottom
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - KendrickTV: but the top
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:02 PM - KendrickTV: is smooth af
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: probably to low or to high
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: your first layer height, and width
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - KendrickTV: does that just happen?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: nope. it's how you set it
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - KendrickTV: knew it
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - Mike Glass: dont tell us you use MC?
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:03 PM - jbigler1986: first layer should be very smooth
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: mine is always smooth and shiny
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:04 PM - KendrickTV: i print on blue tape so its not super smooth
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: ditch that
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:04 PM - KendrickTV: but when i print on glass its smooth and shiny
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:04 PM - jbigler1986: use hairspray
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:04 PM - KendrickTV: what's hairspray like?
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:05 PM - Mike Glass: its in a can, called aquanet
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:05 PM - jbigler1986: like $2
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: lasts a few months with just one can
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:06 PM - donhuevo: or Suave Extreme Hold. Dollar General carries it
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:06 PM - KendrickTV: don't you have to furiously clean the glass after a few prints?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:06 PM - jbigler1986: nope. i let it build up
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:06 PM - donhuevo: I keep a can of laquer thinner handy
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:07 PM - jbigler1986: when removing a print from it, it removes the layer of hairspray most of the time
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:07 PM - Mike Glass: I use denatured alcohol to clean mine
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:07 PM - donhuevo: I put the thinner on a paper towel, clean the bed then spray the hairspray onto the damp paper towel and apply
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:07 PM - jbigler1986: i only clean mine like once every 2 or 3 weeks. i let it build up
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:07 PM - KendrickTV: nice\
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:08 PM - KendrickTV: well thanks for your guys' help, im getting off
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:08 PM - KendrickTV: Happy 4th :)
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:08 PM - donhuevo: you too
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:24 PM - jbigler1986: top layers going on now. sweet
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:25 PM - donhuevo: nice!
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:25 PM - donhuevo: what are we printing again?
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: Nuts and bolts drawers
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:28 PM - donhuevo: I cheated and bought a multi-drawer organizer.
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:31 PM - jbigler1986: Where is the fun in that
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:32 PM - donhuevo: I couldn't wait the weeks it would take to print all the drawers I needed to get all that shit out of my way
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:40 PM - Mike Glass: I see robo just got a $150K grant
    Jul 4, 2015 at 1:41 PM - donhuevo: that's interesting
Jul 4, 2015 at 1:42 PM - Mike Glass: supporting San Diego companies going Global...?
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:08 PM - donhuevo: just 'cause...
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:11 PM - donhuevo: there needs to be more accordian solos in the world
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:20 PM - jbigler1986: testing new jerk with toms part
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:20 PM - jbigler1986: then printing drawers
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:23 PM - donhuevo: cool!
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:24 PM - donhuevo: I'm printing a pulley bracket for the core xy
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:25 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:25 PM - jbigler1986: not to bad
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:25 PM - donhuevo: doesn't get any prettier than that
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:29 PM - jbigler1986: no issues at all with 30mm/s jerk
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:30 PM - donhuevo: what'd you call me?
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:30 PM - donhuevo: suppose I had it coming. I called you a dick the other day
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:30 PM - jbigler1986: that u did
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: http://imgur.com/23Xa4Le
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:31 PM - jbigler1986: stupid imgur. had to post the link
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:32 PM - donhuevo: try not to break it for a while. you may never get it printing that good again
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: that's hard to do
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: i really need another printer
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:33 PM - donhuevo: print one

    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:35 PM - jbigler1986: should i try it?
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:35 PM - jbigler1986: so close to the limits
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:36 PM - donhuevo: I could argue either way
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:37 PM - jbigler1986: i chickend out
Jul 4, 2015 at 2:39 PM - donhuevo: probably for the best
    Jul 4, 2015 at 2:41 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Jul 4, 2015 at 3:15 PM - jbigler1986: I like it
Jul 4, 2015 at 3:18 PM - jbigler1986: Got the frame built yet?
Jul 4, 2015 at 3:19 PM - donhuevo: missing a couple sticks. Waiting til I figure out the bed support and whether or not it'll have a door before I order again
    Jul 4, 2015 at 3:59 PM - jbigler1986: Enclosed?
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:00 PM - donhuevo: I'm thinking. it would be nice to pull off abs/hips
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:00 PM - Mike Kelly: *gasps*
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:01 PM - donhuevo: ya ya
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:01 PM - donhuevo: abs could be fun if I could get it to not warp
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:02 PM - donhuevo: Werner takes his bed up to 125 when he prints abs
    Jul 4, 2015 at 4:03 PM - donhuevo: I'm sorry... his "platen"
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:09 PM - Mike Kelly: I think 110 is about as high as I like to go
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:11 PM - donhuevo: well, us mortals can't come even close to that
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:26 PM - Ajm: Anybody having trouble tall prints where plastic is extruded inconsistently?
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:26 PM - jbigler1986: 90 is as high as i tried. ABS warped like a mofo
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:28 PM - jbigler1986: Sounds like you spring tension bolts are to tight or to loose. Then it grinds the filament slightly. After a while the hobbed gets full of filament and slips trying to extrude
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:49 PM - Ajm: Alright thanks
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:50 PM - jbigler1986: Shit. Forgot i changed infill to 100 percent for that test part. Sliced this drawer with the same settings. Woops
    Jul 4, 2015 at 4:55 PM - jbigler1986: There. 2 and half hours vs 4 and a half
Jul 4, 2015 at 4:59 PM - donhuevo: so Mezzmo is this DLNA streaming software. Only one I found that will stream DVD iso's. Sometimes it screws up the default language. Right now there's a movie playing with Spanish Audio and French subtitles. effed up.
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:03 PM - Mike Glass: I cant remember what software I used to use, it worked pretty good.
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:04 PM - donhuevo: it would read a DVD iso?
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:06 PM - Mike Glass: yep
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:06 PM - Mike Glass: was an opensource one
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:07 PM - donhuevo: hmmmm
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:07 PM - donhuevo: mezzmo was the only thing I could find. it mostly works but the dlna device has something to do with it too
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:08 PM - Mike Glass: I could stream to psp, ps3 and my wdlive tv devices.
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:09 PM - donhuevo: I'm streaming to a dvd player
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:11 PM - jbigler1986: What is a dvd player? :p
    Jul 4, 2015 at 5:12 PM - Mike Glass: a sony I presume
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:12 PM - jbigler1986: Thats why i have a pc hooked up to all of my tvs except for my kids'
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:12 PM - donhuevo: nope, had to get rid of the sony player. using a panasonic now
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:13 PM - jbigler1986: Get with the program don.
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:13 PM - Mike Glass: same thing really
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:13 PM - donhuevo: certain movies didn't like the sony player
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:14 PM - donhuevo: the movies would think the sony dvd player was a ps3
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:28 PM - jbigler1986: Everytime i start a new print it jams. Have to reinsert filament
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:31 PM - Mike Glass: are you retracting it out when the print is done?
Jul 4, 2015 at 5:45 PM - jbigler1986: Dont believe so. Thought i removed it from end gcode. Maybe not
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:01 PM - daniel871: I think when I finally get running again my Robo will run pretty well. Ran thru tightening all the fastening bits, pulled the cables that run to the extruder up and tight with a zip tie so the only part that moves is from the top of the case to tge top of thr extruder.
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:03 PM - daniel871: The section from the top of the case thru the bottom to the ramps are secured at each end and the z travel no longer tries to snag.
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:05 PM - daniel871: Ran up inside the case and ran back and forth along the X while going up and nothing snags or binds any more. Things are looking good for whenever the replacement stepper driver for the extruder.
    Jul 4, 2015 at 6:06 PM - daniel871: Comes in.
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:17 PM - Mike Glass: you broke your stepper driver?
Jul 4, 2015 at 6:57 PM - jbigler1986: He has been actually breaking stuff. Lol

Jul 5, 2015 12:21 AM - Mike Glass: looks like the layer height may be different
Jul 5, 2015 12:21 AM - Mike Glass: maybe running a little hot
Jul 5, 2015 4:13 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jul 5, 2015 5:32 AM - jbigler1986: Morning
    Jul 5, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: jb
    Jul 5, 2015 5:59 AM - jbigler1986: How was ilur 4th
Jul 5, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: quiet. you?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:11 AM - jbigler1986: Really good.
    Jul 5, 2015 6:12 AM - Bill Monroe: ya?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Bbq, festival, fireworks
    Jul 5, 2015 6:17 AM - Bill Monroe: ahhh
Jul 5, 2015 6:18 AM - Bill Monroe: i just vegged. spent most of the day watching 2.0 flounce around
    Jul 5, 2015 6:22 AM - jbigler1986: Question
    Jul 5, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: answer
    Jul 5, 2015 6:22 AM - donhuevo: uh oh
    Jul 5, 2015 6:22 AM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
Jul 5, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: jb.. you broke your robo again?!?!
Jul 5, 2015 6:22 AM - Bill Monroe: morning Don
Jul 5, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: I will run a print and it will pront perfectly. Then if i start a new print this happenes everytime
Jul 5, 2015 6:23 AM - donhuevo: that is effed up
Jul 5, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: But if i remive filament and resinsert it, it will print just fine again
    Jul 5, 2015 6:23 AM - Bill Monroe: i've seen this before...
Jul 5, 2015 6:24 AM - donhuevo: it jammed because the nozzle went tight to the bed
Jul 5, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: I do not change the settings on the redo and no issues
Jul 5, 2015 6:24 AM - donhuevo: the z is changing. are all your bed magnets in?
Jul 5, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's too low alright. but why change from print to print is the question
Jul 5, 2015 6:26 AM - donhuevo: try completely closing s3d and reopening then loading a print and see if it happens then
Jul 5, 2015 6:26 AM - Bill Monroe: seems like some conflict between the ending and starting codes
Jul 5, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: No idea. It's weird. I can go remove filament and reinsert it without changing anything and it will be fine
Jul 5, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: No retraction in the end gcode. I checked
Jul 5, 2015 6:27 AM - donhuevo: this is just the first layer in the pic, yes?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:27 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
    Jul 5, 2015 6:28 AM - donhuevo: so the z is changing
Jul 5, 2015 6:29 AM - donhuevo: optical illusion maybe?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:32 AM - jbigler1986: lol. idk. it's weird
Jul 5, 2015 6:33 AM - donhuevo: at first glance the bands of crap are fairly regular
    Jul 5, 2015 6:33 AM - donhuevo: I'm taking back what I said about it being a z issue
Jul 5, 2015 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: ive had that when the tip was just too low.. spears out for awhile until the pressure builds enough to squrit out a lot, then once the pressure is relieved, goes back to smearing.. with the shitmera, it eventually just jammed
Jul 5, 2015 6:34 AM - donhuevo: gonna go sit on my thinking chair
Jul 5, 2015 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: so I order a DUE just now.. on a sunday. it'll be here later...
Jul 5, 2015 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: once in awhile, amazon does a good thing
Jul 5, 2015 6:36 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Just posted a question on the forums about Repetier, but maybe one of you guys can answer a quick question for me?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: i dunno.. I uninstalled Rep 6 months ago.
Jul 5, 2015 6:37 AM - Aaron Mitchell: I am installing Repetier and Skeinforge is one slicer it is prompting me to install
Jul 5, 2015 6:37 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Is it even compatible with Robo3D?
Jul 5, 2015 6:37 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Is it more accurate/efficient than the Cura or Slic3r options?
Jul 5, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: they all work. efficiency might be different but the difference is neglible and not a factor
    Jul 5, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: they're about the same accuruacy-wise too
Jul 5, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: they have some differences with features and user interfaces.
Jul 5, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: ulimately, it boild down to personal preference
Jul 5, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: try them all, pick one you like and live happy
Jul 5, 2015 6:41 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Bill, When you moved away from Rep...what did you go with instead?
Jul 5, 2015 6:41 AM - donhuevo: skeinforge is old and slow and not worth your time
    Jul 5, 2015 6:41 AM - Bill Monroe: Simplify 3D
Jul 5, 2015 6:42 AM - Aaron Mitchell: OK...That's what I figured...I will move to that once my wallet regenerates...
    Jul 5, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: it's money well spent
Jul 5, 2015 6:42 AM - Aaron Mitchell: For now I was looking at Cura or Repetier...
Jul 5, 2015 6:42 AM - donhuevo: or using the Cura engine in Repetier
Jul 5, 2015 6:43 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Don, I am installing that now... :)
    Jul 5, 2015 6:43 AM - donhuevo: it's all I've been using
Jul 5, 2015 6:48 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Just getting all of the software installed before my printer arrives :)
    Jul 5, 2015 6:49 AM - donhuevo: gotcha.
Jul 5, 2015 6:50 AM - donhuevo: nothing wrong with that.
    Jul 5, 2015 6:54 AM - Aaron Mitchell: OK...got that installed...
Jul 5, 2015 6:54 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Don, is there a reason you use Cura vs. Slic3r?
Jul 5, 2015 6:56 AM - donhuevo: it's a little faster at slicing. I'll occasionally bust out slic3r too but once you have something dialed in...
Jul 5, 2015 6:56 AM - jbigler1986: i need to print a new mount. this one allows the hotend to wiggle a tiny bit
Jul 5, 2015 6:57 AM - Bill Monroe: jb has a teeny wiggle
Jul 5, 2015 6:57 AM - Aaron Mitchell: It's not the size of the worm...
Jul 5, 2015 6:57 AM - donhuevo: haha! when you get an effed up print like that, do you find you have to clean the hob too?
Jul 5, 2015 6:59 AM - jbigler1986: yep. but after a succesful print the hobb is clean
    Jul 5, 2015 6:59 AM - donhuevo: even weirder
    Jul 5, 2015 7:00 AM - jbigler1986: Checked that yesterday
Jul 5, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: my hobb is always clean.. as long as I stay away from seedy filaments
    Jul 5, 2015 7:02 AM - Aaron Mitchell: eeesh...
Jul 5, 2015 7:03 AM - donhuevo: all I can think to try right now is to eliminate software as the cause and to do that, I still want you to try closing and opening s3d in between prints
Jul 5, 2015 7:07 AM - jbigler1986: Will try that. Printing a cube right now
Jul 5, 2015 7:08 AM - donhuevo: I still want you to try it in between drawer prints too
Jul 5, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: I will test with 2 cubes first. Then tedt with drawers
    Jul 5, 2015 7:12 AM - donhuevo: aight
    Jul 5, 2015 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: 1st one is printing fine
    Jul 5, 2015 7:23 AM - donhuevo: as expected
    Jul 5, 2015 7:37 AM - jbigler1986: Yep. Almost done
Jul 5, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: First cube finished fine. Starting a drawer now. Closed s3d and reopened it
Jul 5, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: Morning gents
    Jul 5, 2015 8:01 AM - donhuevo: morning Mike
Jul 5, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Glass: was 103 yesterday, now its 40 degrees cooler now.. yay
    Jul 5, 2015 8:02 AM - donhuevo: nice
Jul 5, 2015 8:03 AM - donhuevo: jb is checking out his cubes
    Jul 5, 2015 8:06 AM - Mike Glass: how big a cube
    Jul 5, 2015 8:06 AM - donhuevo: a little bit personal don't you think?
Jul 5, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Glass: he must of broke something again
    Jul 5, 2015 8:09 AM - donhuevo: there's a picture up a little ways

Jul 5, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: yeah he had that problem yesterday
    Jul 5, 2015 8:11 AM - Mike Glass: I would try a different slicer
    Jul 5, 2015 8:23 AM - jbigler1986: imagine that. fail
Jul 5, 2015 8:30 AM - jbigler1986: Gonna check to see if x is level. Maybe its getting unlevel during a print which affects first layer
Jul 5, 2015 8:32 AM - donhuevo: failed the same way?
    Jul 5, 2015 8:32 AM - jbigler1986: Yep
Jul 5, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: Letting the hotend cool before i paper level. If its off then thay may be the issue
Jul 5, 2015 8:33 AM - donhuevo: closed and reopened s3d in between?
    Jul 5, 2015 8:33 AM - jbigler1986: Yes i did
    Jul 5, 2015 8:34 AM - donhuevo: that's a whole lot less to suspect
Jul 5, 2015 8:34 AM - donhuevo: you said the hot end was loose. how loose?
    Jul 5, 2015 8:34 AM - jbigler1986: What is like a 10 minute taller print
    Jul 5, 2015 8:36 AM - jbigler1986: oh yeah. not level
    Jul 5, 2015 8:37 AM - jbigler1986: left side s lower than right
Jul 5, 2015 8:37 AM - donhuevo: magnets all set like they should be?
    Jul 5, 2015 8:38 AM - Mike Kelly: Howdy
    Jul 5, 2015 8:38 AM - donhuevo: hola mike
    Jul 5, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: ok. leveled it.
    Jul 5, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: holla mike
Jul 5, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: On my way to the airport
    Jul 5, 2015 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: back to the grind
Jul 5, 2015 8:40 AM - Mike Kelly: Yup back to real life
Jul 5, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Glass: Did you get to the the big San Fran firework show?
Jul 5, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Kelly: We took a dinner cruise and watched them from the water
    Jul 5, 2015 8:45 AM - Mike Glass: nice
Jul 5, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: Yeah it was cool. Of course it was foggy though
Jul 5, 2015 8:46 AM - donhuevo: any idea what the name of the company that did the show was?
    Jul 5, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Glass: foggy or smoggy..lol
Jul 5, 2015 8:47 AM - jbigler1986: relevel and it's perfect. lets see if it's not level after this print again
Jul 5, 2015 8:57 AM - jbigler1986: ok. so after a print it's not level anymore which is screwing up the first layer
Jul 5, 2015 8:57 AM - jbigler1986: to much weight in the bullet box?
Jul 5, 2015 8:59 AM - Bill Monroe: which side is it low on?
    Jul 5, 2015 8:59 AM - jbigler1986: left
Jul 5, 2015 9:00 AM - Bill Monroe: if it's balanced and weight was the issue, you'd see it on both sides intermittantly
Jul 5, 2015 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: does it autolevel after you check it?
Jul 5, 2015 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: check it the first time, that is
Jul 5, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Kelly: If your bed is level don't bother with autoleveling
Jul 5, 2015 9:05 AM - Mike Kelly: Only reason robo added autoleveling was because they didn't have a way to tram the bed
Jul 5, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: could it be a nozzle booger screwing with the second print's autolevel?
Jul 5, 2015 9:08 AM - Bill Monroe: that was the *only* reason huh?
Jul 5, 2015 9:17 AM - jbigler1986: Nope. Made sure nozzle and bed were clean
    Jul 5, 2015 9:19 AM - donhuevo: so what's left?
Jul 5, 2015 9:19 AM - jbigler1986: Its like after the print one z moves faster than the other or something causing it to not be level. Its not way off level. But enough to cause it to jam
Jul 5, 2015 9:20 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, I was wondering if some steps may be getting ignored
Jul 5, 2015 9:20 AM - jbigler1986: Not the end of the world to paper level after a print. Just annoying and trying to find the cause
Jul 5, 2015 9:21 AM - donhuevo: the last layer of the first print is perfect though, yes?
    Jul 5, 2015 9:21 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Jul 5, 2015 9:21 AM - donhuevo: looking at your skirt in the second print, that looks perfect too
Jul 5, 2015 9:22 AM - donhuevo: seems like it waits till the first layer's infill to get spastic
    Jul 5, 2015 9:22 AM - jbigler1986: Its a mystery
Jul 5, 2015 9:23 AM - jbigler1986: Even the the front left of the infill is perfect. Then goes to hell at about the same spot every time
Jul 5, 2015 9:23 AM - donhuevo: the test cube too?
Jul 5, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: Test cube was good. Was referring to the pic i posted earlier of the failed one
Jul 5, 2015 9:24 AM - donhuevo: thought you said the second cube failed as well
    Jul 5, 2015 9:24 AM - jbigler1986: No. I went from a test cube to the drawer
    Jul 5, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: ah
Jul 5, 2015 9:25 AM - jbigler1986: Skipped the 2nd test cube. Figured it wasnt needed
Jul 5, 2015 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: This has been happening since bowden. So thinking the weight in the bullet box is not right. Never actually weighed it. Just tossed in a bunch of coins. Lol
Jul 5, 2015 9:27 AM - donhuevo: you would think ALL prints would be bad. Not one perfect, the next shit
    Jul 5, 2015 9:27 AM - jbigler1986: True
    Jul 5, 2015 9:28 AM - jbigler1986: Its weird thats all i know
Jul 5, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Glass: what did you change last in your firmware?
Jul 5, 2015 9:29 AM - jbigler1986: Jerk. But been happening before that
Jul 5, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Kelly: Yes only reason. Why would you add autolevel if you have a manual tram
Jul 5, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Glass: reflash time
    Jul 5, 2015 9:30 AM - jbigler1986: Ha. Several times
Jul 5, 2015 9:30 AM - Mike Kelly: Jb are your autolevel response values consistent
    Jul 5, 2015 9:31 AM - jbigler1986: They vary from like 4.8 to 5.3 i believe
Jul 5, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: If your bed is level from your dial gauge they shouldn't be that far off
Jul 5, 2015 9:32 AM - jbigler1986: Gonna remove all shims when i get back and chech the readings
Jul 5, 2015 9:32 AM - donhuevo: might be interesting to take the gcode from the first successful print and edit out the autolevel bit for the second
Jul 5, 2015 9:33 AM - donhuevo: but still, the skirt and perimeters on the second were perfect all the way around
    Jul 5, 2015 9:33 AM - jbigler1986: And front left infill
    Jul 5, 2015 9:33 AM - donhuevo: and that
Jul 5, 2015 9:34 AM - donhuevo: what's your infill speed at now?
    Jul 5, 2015 9:34 AM - jbigler1986: Solid infill?
Jul 5, 2015 9:35 AM - donhuevo: didn't know s3d had a separate setting for that but ok
Jul 5, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: I believe 40 percent of of print speed. First layer speed 20 percent of print speed i think. Sont remember exactly off the top of my head
Jul 5, 2015 9:36 AM - jbigler1986: Sorry about butchering words. On my phone
Jul 5, 2015 9:41 AM - donhuevo: it makes no sense. this is gonna ruin my day as much as yours. I don't like unsolved problems
Jul 5, 2015 9:41 AM - jbigler1986: Me either. paper level before i start a print and prints perfect.
Jul 5, 2015 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: Dont touch it before is start a new print and fails
Jul 5, 2015 9:44 AM - jbigler1986: I need to print a new dial indicator mount so i can level with that. Then comment out G29
Jul 5, 2015 9:47 AM - donhuevo: almost seems like it's forgetting how to do math once it's warmed up
Jul 5, 2015 9:50 AM - Mike Glass: maybe its time to trade her in
Jul 5, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: try doing a full heat up before autolevel and see what happens.
Jul 5, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: also, at the end of a successful print, reach under and see if your z steppers are hot
Jul 5, 2015 9:54 AM - donhuevo: with the autolevel, the z's are constantly moving during a print
Jul 5, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: Only if it needs to compensate. If it comes back with level results it won't move or barely at all
Jul 5, 2015 9:55 AM - donhuevo: well, either way, I don't think they ever 'rest'
    Jul 5, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: I mean they won't disable
Jul 5, 2015 9:59 AM - Stephen Capistron: Are your z steppers set to be on all the time?
Jul 5, 2015 10:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: When the motors are not energized it is super easy to push the whole x axis down with the lead screws
Jul 5, 2015 10:00 AM - donhuevo: even if it's imperceptible, they'll change from one end of an infill line to the other
Jul 5, 2015 10:00 AM - Stephen Capistron: Might have one side that spins down ever so slightly
Jul 5, 2015 10:11 AM - Stephen Capistron: On a related note I switched to a four point auto level routine and that seems to be going okay for now
Jul 5, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: whad up Stephen
Jul 5, 2015 10:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: Not much . Enjoying the nice hot weather
    Jul 5, 2015 10:15 AM - Stephen Capistron: Yourself?
Jul 5, 2015 10:16 AM - Mike Glass: enjoying the nice cool weather finally

Jul 5, 2015 10:17 AM - donhuevo: yep, that jet stream can be a bastard
Jul 5, 2015 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: 2 weeks being over 90 for this part of the woods is just crazy.
Jul 5, 2015 10:22 AM - Stephen Capistron: It is about 90 today. Good day to wheel the robo out and print some abs outdoors
Jul 5, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: I didnt even want to turn mine on, office was hot enough
Jul 5, 2015 11:11 AM - jbigler1986: Running paper level doesnt take long if that ends up being necessary before each print
    Jul 5, 2015 11:12 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah steppers are always enabled
Jul 5, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Glass: they hot
    Jul 5, 2015 11:19 AM - donhuevo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
Jul 5, 2015 11:22 AM - Mike Glass: your printing abs?
Jul 5, 2015 11:24 AM - donhuevo: no sir. not today
    Jul 5, 2015 11:25 AM - Mike Glass: 80mm
Jul 5, 2015 11:26 AM - donhuevo: infill is at 150 but my acceleration is pretty low
Jul 5, 2015 11:37 AM - jbigler1986: I dont think heat is an issue. Parts print perfectly once its level
Jul 5, 2015 11:39 AM - donhuevo: how did it lose it's level in the first place though?
    Jul 5, 2015 11:47 AM - Bill Monroe: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/bills-lab
Jul 5, 2015 11:56 AM - jbigler1986: No clue. Thats what im trying to figure out.
Jul 5, 2015 11:56 AM - jbigler1986: After a print when i run the carriage along the x its not level anymore
Jul 5, 2015 12:00 PM - Stephen Capistron: Might have a spun bearing? If you go to z zero can you lift the carriage up without much resistance?
Jul 5, 2015 12:35 PM - mayhem: hello all im having a problem with some printing im doing, if anyone can help me figure out my problem i will paypal you https://www.dropbox.com/s/lfrgu9dzqfqpoky/Mayhem Bad Sled.JPG?dl=0 and https://www.dropbox.com/s/cuu31qruy81qkvo/Mayhem good sled.JPG?dl=0 the first image is what it looks like currently, the second image is what it needs to look like, if you can tell me whta i need to do to fix this issue ill paypal you money, thanks
Jul 5, 2015 12:37 PM - Mike Glass: whats the link to the stl file
Jul 5, 2015 12:37 PM - jbigler1986: What temps? What material? Layer height?
Jul 5, 2015 12:38 PM - jbigler1986: I dont want any paypal payment though. Its not necessary
Jul 5, 2015 12:41 PM - mayhem: temp is 210 layer height is 0.2mm material is abs
Jul 5, 2015 12:43 PM - Mike Glass: to low for abs
Jul 5, 2015 12:44 PM - Mike Glass: abs should be around 225-235
Jul 5, 2015 12:45 PM - mayhem: Okay yha i am new to 3d printers so i have no clue how to work it.. thank you
    Jul 5, 2015 12:48 PM - Mike Glass: np
    Jul 5, 2015 12:52 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah. Abs 225-250, PLA 180-210
Jul 5, 2015 12:58 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Hey guys...
Jul 5, 2015 12:58 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Got an issue
Jul 5, 2015 12:59 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I am in the process of setting up my Robo3D that just arrived (woot!)
Jul 5, 2015 12:59 PM - Aaron Mitchell: When I am going through a manual check of the motors...the Y-axis seems to be crashing before it gets homed...
Jul 5, 2015 1:01 PM - mayhem: Alright i will try to change the temperature.. Thanks again guys. Will let you know if it works.
Jul 5, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Kelly: Also be sure your cooling fan is disabled
Jul 5, 2015 1:07 PM - Mike Kelly: Aaron lift up your glass bed while homing and see if anything is catching
    Jul 5, 2015 1:11 PM - Aaron Mitchell: yep...front rack is broken....sheesh!
    Jul 5, 2015 1:12 PM - Stephen Capistron: Pic?
    Jul 5, 2015 1:12 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Yeah...hang on...
Jul 5, 2015 1:13 PM - jbigler1986: Sounds like the front belt clip. Lots of people have had that broken upon arrival
Jul 5, 2015 1:14 PM - Stephen Capistron: But the bed is moving, right?
Jul 5, 2015 1:14 PM - Aaron Mitchell: yeah...right under front edge of glass...on the left side
Jul 5, 2015 1:15 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Where should I post the pic?
    Jul 5, 2015 1:15 PM - jbigler1986:
    Jul 5, 2015 1:15 PM - Mike Glass: imgur
Jul 5, 2015 1:16 PM - jbigler1986: MK at the 4:20 second mark. Need to do something similar for the robo.
Jul 5, 2015 1:17 PM - Stephen Capistron: Get the imgur app for your phone. It will come in handy here
    Jul 5, 2015 1:19 PM - Aaron Mitchell: [IMG]
Jul 5, 2015 1:20 PM - Harry: Aaron, please go to http://www.robo3d.com/pages/replacement-part-request and request a replacement.
Jul 5, 2015 1:20 PM - Harry: I'm extremely sorry to hear that arrived broken!
Jul 5, 2015 1:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: If you really want to not wait for a part im
Jul 5, 2015 1:21 PM - Stephen Capistron: Sure crazy glue will work
Jul 5, 2015 1:22 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Thanks Harry...I will do that now...had to go grab the box and get the support number...
Jul 5, 2015 1:22 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Stephen...I will give that a shot while I wait for the replacement
Jul 5, 2015 1:22 PM - Harry: Ah ok! Yea you can superglue it for now
Jul 5, 2015 1:22 PM - Harry: I'll make sure you get a replacement shipped tomorrow morning
    Jul 5, 2015 1:22 PM - Mike Glass: JB your getting a Rep2x?
Jul 5, 2015 1:23 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Harry...What is the part called, exactly?
Jul 5, 2015 1:23 PM - Mike Glass: wow how does that break, did you get that from amazon?
    Jul 5, 2015 1:24 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Yeah...came from Amazon
    Jul 5, 2015 1:24 PM - Harry: haha
    Jul 5, 2015 1:24 PM - Harry: Y axis bracket?
    Jul 5, 2015 1:24 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Ok..
Jul 5, 2015 1:24 PM - Harry: Just say this
Jul 5, 2015 1:24 PM - Harry: "My y-axis bracket that holds the two smooth rods arrived broken...." and attach that picture
Jul 5, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: might want to check the connectors on the arduino board cause if that happend it got hit hard.
Jul 5, 2015 1:25 PM - Mike Glass: That, or QC didnt care once again.
Jul 5, 2015 1:26 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Thanks, HArry...I just posted the part request...
Jul 5, 2015 1:27 PM - jbigler1986: MG hell no. Was just referring to the dual nozzle leveling there
Jul 5, 2015 1:27 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Mike..The arduino is fine as I have already done a firmware update and it is responding via serial(USB) fine...I did notice some wires block the usb connector, so I will take a look to double check...
    Jul 5, 2015 1:27 PM - Harry: Awesome Aaron
Jul 5, 2015 1:27 PM - Harry: Sorry to hear that again
Jul 5, 2015 1:27 PM - Harry: I will make sure you get a new part shipped tomorrow
Jul 5, 2015 1:27 PM - Mike Glass: I had to push the connector all the way on thats all im saying.
Jul 5, 2015 1:28 PM - Aaron Mitchell: No worries...I appreciate the quick support and attention...I used to run a tech support firm and understand things break in shipping or get missed in QC...it is the tech support that makes the difference...you guys get an 'A'...
Jul 5, 2015 1:29 PM - Mike Glass: Maybe with the grant money they can get better QC.
    Jul 5, 2015 1:29 PM - Harry: haha
Jul 5, 2015 1:29 PM - Harry: that grant money Mike is just for international exporting
Jul 5, 2015 1:30 PM - Harry: its to like make local san diego companies go international
Jul 5, 2015 1:30 PM - Harry: and go towards exporting product
Jul 5, 2015 1:30 PM - Stephen Capistron: That you got an actual person paid/affiliated with Robo on a long weekend is remarkable. The rest of us just don't have anything better to do
Jul 5, 2015 1:30 PM - Mike Glass: oh, well that just sucks
Jul 5, 2015 1:31 PM - Mike Glass: Some of us work from home 24x7
    Jul 5, 2015 1:31 PM - Harry: haha Stephen
Jul 5, 2015 1:31 PM - Mike Glass: on call
    Jul 5, 2015 1:31 PM - Harry: I work at robo
    Jul 5, 2015 1:32 PM - jbigler1986: Integrated lead screws?
Jul 5, 2015 1:32 PM - Mike Glass: lol, give it up JB
Jul 5, 2015 1:32 PM - Harry: THIS WEEK JB! Thats what coby told me
    Jul 5, 2015 1:32 PM - Harry: haha
Jul 5, 2015 1:33 PM - Stephen Capistron: I admire he persistence he has. I just ould have gone ahead and got a taiko instead
Jul 5, 2015 1:34 PM - Stephen Capistron: he his
Jul 5, 2015 1:38 PM - Mike Glass: I just printed some xt, and it looks like crap as usual
Jul 5, 2015 1:40 PM - jbigler1986: i have officially given up on getting another robo
    Jul 5, 2015 1:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: Tiko
    Jul 5, 2015 1:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: Tiko
    Jul 5, 2015 1:42 PM - Stephen Capistron: Tiko
    Jul 5, 2015 1:43 PM - Harry: why JB?
Jul 5, 2015 1:43 PM - Mike Glass: should I use a fan with xt?
Jul 5, 2015 1:44 PM - Harry: JB I had another idea just now. What if we sent you a refurb tomorrow. Then as soon as the lead screws come in we send you those too.
Jul 5, 2015 1:44 PM - Stephen Capistron: No fan. XT delaminates on you right?

    Jul 5, 2015 1:45 PM - Aaron Mitchell: is that colorfab-xt Mike?
Jul 5, 2015 1:46 PM - Mike Glass: Yea, never got a good print with it

Jul 5, 2015 1:47 PM - Aaron Mitchell: That is the tech sheet for it...may have some info on it
Jul 5, 2015 1:48 PM - Mike Glass: It going back out to the shed for the weed eater
Jul 5, 2015 1:50 PM - jbigler1986: Still havent answered my question Harry. Not even worried about the lead screws right now.
Jul 5, 2015 1:52 PM - mayhem: im sorry guys but when you asked for the temp.. is the extruder temp because i just tried it at 225 and it was printing with like tiny lines throughout the print.. this is so frustrating.. sorry if this is a dumb question..
    Jul 5, 2015 1:52 PM - Mike Glass: pictures?
Jul 5, 2015 1:52 PM - Harry: Whats your question JB?
Jul 5, 2015 1:52 PM - Harry: I've answered all questions from my understanding JB
Jul 5, 2015 1:53 PM - mayhem: in my first post it looks like the orange one.
Jul 5, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: could be a slicer issue
Jul 5, 2015 1:55 PM - Mike Glass: what are you using?
Jul 5, 2015 1:56 PM - mayhem: what is that? Do i find that in settings?
Jul 5, 2015 1:57 PM - Mike Glass: what software is what is meant.
    Jul 5, 2015 1:58 PM - jbigler1986: Sent you a PM
    Jul 5, 2015 1:59 PM - Harry: Responded
    Jul 5, 2015 1:59 PM - mayhem: mattercontrol 1.2
Jul 5, 2015 2:00 PM - jbigler1986: Slicer is the software. Like Mattercontrol, Cura, Repetier, Simplify3d
Jul 5, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Glass: ugg, cant help you there, MC sucks
Jul 5, 2015 2:00 PM - Mike Glass: where can we find the file and check it in a real slicer.
Jul 5, 2015 2:01 PM - mayhem: lol.. i think i am learning that now.. after a million trys..
    Jul 5, 2015 2:02 PM - jbigler1986: Try Cura
Jul 5, 2015 2:04 PM - Stephen Capistron: 15.02.... The latest release of cura is not ready for non-ultimately printers AFAIK
    Jul 5, 2015 2:08 PM - jbigler1986: Woops. Forgot about that
Jul 5, 2015 2:20 PM - mayhem: i am trying to change the temperature to see if that will fix the issue.
Jul 5, 2015 2:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Print little calibration cubes to dial in your settings
Jul 5, 2015 2:28 PM - Stephen Capistron: Or the deprime object off thingiverse
Jul 5, 2015 2:31 PM - Stephen Capistron: They print quick, 30 minutes, so you can tweak setting pretty quickly
Jul 5, 2015 2:32 PM - jbigler1986: Also go ahead and change slicers. Mattercontrol is the worst
Jul 5, 2015 2:42 PM - Aaron Mitchell: Mike...just realized I sent you the wrong tech sheet earlier...if you are using the ColorFab XT with Eastman Amphora, then this is the sheet: http://colorfabb.com/files/amphora_pds_en.pdf
Jul 5, 2015 2:43 PM - Aaron Mitchell: It should have the printer settings you were looking for on using the fan, extrude depth, etc...
Jul 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Aaron Mitchell: extrude depth layer height
Jul 5, 2015 2:44 PM - Aaron Mitchell: I was looking at purchasing a roll of that as well...
Jul 5, 2015 2:51 PM - Mike Kelly: and finally home
    Jul 5, 2015 2:56 PM - mayhem: so is Slic3r a good one?
Jul 5, 2015 2:56 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's pretty good, just kinda depends on personal preference
Jul 5, 2015 2:56 PM - mayhem: or the other one says curaengine
    Jul 5, 2015 2:57 PM - Mike Kelly: i prefer cura personally
Jul 5, 2015 3:08 PM - mayhem: thank you i am trying curaengine one now. :)
    Jul 5, 2015 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: not within mattercontrol
    Jul 5, 2015 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: cura standalone
Jul 5, 2015 3:10 PM - Mike Glass: Think he was referring to repetier
Jul 5, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Kelly: Jb the problem with a leveling bracket is I have no way to easily tram my bed along the y so the nozzles need to be leveled against the bed not each other
    Jul 5, 2015 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: ahhh. nevermind then
Jul 5, 2015 3:11 PM - jbigler1986: well what are you waiting for MK?
Jul 5, 2015 3:11 PM - Mike Glass: Maybe your right jb not sure
Jul 5, 2015 3:12 PM - Mike Kelly: I have it pretty well calibrated just by touching the nozzle on the bed and then adjusting the second one
    Jul 5, 2015 3:12 PM - jbigler1986: yeah mattercrap has curaengine
Jul 5, 2015 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: i manually have to raise the left threaded rod or else it's to low after atutolevel. oh well
    Jul 5, 2015 3:17 PM - jbigler1986: not a big deal
Jul 5, 2015 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: MK should i adjust my left autolevel switch or remove some of the weight in the bullet box?
    Jul 5, 2015 3:23 PM - Mike Kelly: i would say that's a good guess
Jul 5, 2015 3:24 PM - Mike Kelly: check all your connections for the motor and make sure it's getting good contact
Jul 5, 2015 3:26 PM - jbigler1986: Thats the thing. After the first layer it prints perfectly. Should i adjust switch or weight?
Jul 5, 2015 3:27 PM - jbigler1986: My guess is weight first but what do i know
Jul 5, 2015 3:27 PM - Mike Kelly: weight seems reasonable. i think the motor side weighs around 300g
    Jul 5, 2015 3:28 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah another reason i need a damn scale
    Jul 5, 2015 3:28 PM - Mike Kelly: heh
Jul 5, 2015 3:30 PM - jbigler1986: To weigh how much im putting in the counterweight. Also to weigh filament
Jul 5, 2015 3:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: Just get a kitchen one
Jul 5, 2015 3:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: They are quite useful
Jul 5, 2015 3:37 PM - Stephen Capistron: Instead of measuring coffee volumetric ally, I do it by weight. More accurate
Jul 5, 2015 3:38 PM - Stephen Capistron: Same goes for flour when making a baked good
Jul 5, 2015 3:40 PM - Stephen Capistron: It is also great for sticky stuff. Instead of measuring a quarter cup of honey, just figure out how many grams are in that quarter cup and add it directly to whatever it is you are doing
Jul 5, 2015 3:55 PM - donhuevo: cooking filament? I'm gone a few minutes and look what happens
    Jul 5, 2015 4:00 PM - jbigler1986: Lol
Jul 5, 2015 4:01 PM - jbigler1986: So narrowed it down to the left side don. Gonna try to remove some of the weight from the bullet box and test. On this print i just twisted the left threaded rod a little to raise it
    Jul 5, 2015 4:02 PM - donhuevo: fingers crossed
    Jul 5, 2015 4:05 PM - jbigler1986:
    Jul 5, 2015 4:05 PM - jbigler1986: Hell yeah
    Jul 5, 2015 4:08 PM - donhuevo: creepy
    Jul 5, 2015 4:12 PM - jbigler1986: How so
Jul 5, 2015 4:15 PM - donhuevo: anything different is weird.
    Jul 5, 2015 4:16 PM - Mike Kelly: that's awesome
    Jul 5, 2015 4:17 PM - Mike Kelly: don doesn't like change
Jul 5, 2015 4:17 PM - donhuevo: pretty much giving up a heated bed with that too
    Jul 5, 2015 4:18 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't matter, 5 axis
Jul 5, 2015 4:19 PM - jbigler1986: PLA you can do with non heated bed
    Jul 5, 2015 4:19 PM - jbigler1986: Which is all u use anyways
Jul 5, 2015 4:20 PM - donhuevo: still fn weird
Jul 5, 2015 4:21 PM - donhuevo: and another entire axis to misalign
    Jul 5, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Kelly: haha
    Jul 5, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Kelly: it's a proof of concept
    Jul 5, 2015 4:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i think it's fun
Jul 5, 2015 4:21 PM - donhuevo: I have all the axes I need thank you very much
Jul 5, 2015 4:22 PM - Mike Kelly: or so you thought
    Jul 5, 2015 4:22 PM - donhuevo: true
Jul 5, 2015 4:23 PM - donhuevo: the crazy chess pieces I could design...
    Jul 5, 2015 4:23 PM - jbigler1986: See. Getting ideas now
Jul 5, 2015 4:23 PM - Mike Kelly: doesn't really matter though since they had to design their own gcode generation
Jul 5, 2015 4:23 PM - donhuevo: what? I can't use MfnC with that printer? WTF
    Jul 5, 2015 4:23 PM - WheresWaldo: Evening everyone.
    Jul 5, 2015 4:24 PM - donhuevo: there's Waldo
    Jul 5, 2015 4:24 PM - donhuevo: found him
Jul 5, 2015 4:24 PM - Mike Kelly: you win
Jul 5, 2015 4:24 PM - donhuevo: headed to the store... anyone need anything?
Jul 5, 2015 4:25 PM - WheresWaldo: What are we all working on this evening?
Jul 5, 2015 4:26 PM - donhuevo: I'm reprinting my robo parts in blue. high res this time

    Jul 5, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: fun
Jul 5, 2015 4:27 PM - Mike Kelly: i should get off my butt and work on my robo but i'm lacking motivation
Jul 5, 2015 4:27 PM - WheresWaldo: I have been printing Robo parts all day in Red PETG. I am currently printing a spoolholder, but I printed out an integrated pillow block and linear bearing combination earlier.
    Jul 5, 2015 4:28 PM - WheresWaldo: And a raspberry colored case for a raspberry Pi 2 B
Jul 5, 2015 4:28 PM - donhuevo: wish I could help you in the motivation department. I've been trying to make myself go to the store for 3 hours now
Jul 5, 2015 4:29 PM - Mike Kelly: i should try out the PET i bought on the r1.6
    Jul 5, 2015 4:29 PM - donhuevo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
Jul 5, 2015 4:30 PM - Mike Kelly: i'll never understand how your hot end always looks so pristine
Jul 5, 2015 4:30 PM - WheresWaldo: I am liking PET much better than PLA. Don't know why everyone says PLA is so easy to print. I just have clog after clog.
Jul 5, 2015 4:30 PM - Mike Kelly: pet is easier to get good prints with than ABS, not necessarily easy to print
Jul 5, 2015 4:30 PM - WheresWaldo: Probably a wire brush as it's cooling down, That is what I use to get all the gunk off.
Jul 5, 2015 4:31 PM - Mike Kelly: he probably doesn't get too many failed print disasters
Jul 5, 2015 4:32 PM - WheresWaldo: I haven't had much issue with PET, but I have to print hot and with a hot bed too. But that way I can print on clean glass.
Jul 5, 2015 4:33 PM - Mike Kelly: PET seems really promising and the price is dropping quick
Jul 5, 2015 4:33 PM - WheresWaldo: And eSun now has solid black and white, so everything doesn't need to be transparent.
Jul 5, 2015 4:34 PM - WheresWaldo: Maybe we can take care of that big flaoting mass of garbage in the Pacific if we all switch to PET.
Jul 5, 2015 4:34 PM - Mike Kelly: it's funny cause i bought it because it was transparent
Jul 5, 2015 4:35 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder how recycled soda bottles would work as filament
Jul 5, 2015 4:35 PM - WheresWaldo: I have spools of transparent natural, red and blue. Soda bottles will depend on how many times it has been recycled.
    Jul 5, 2015 4:36 PM - Mike Kelly: that's very true
Jul 5, 2015 4:37 PM - Mike Kelly: i wonder how the material degredation of PET is
Jul 5, 2015 4:40 PM - WheresWaldo: Here is a technical treatise on PET degradation, probably more technical that we really need http://cdn.intechopen.com/pdfs-wm/39405.pdf
Jul 5, 2015 4:44 PM - Mike Glass: Lol gteat info
Jul 5, 2015 4:45 PM - WheresWaldo: Bottom line, degradation is decreased with a copolymer, like ethylene glycol, otherwise it crystallizes during cooling unless rapidly cooled.
Jul 5, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Kelly: nice article though
Jul 5, 2015 4:47 PM - Mike Kelly: is that where the g comes from?
Jul 5, 2015 4:47 PM - Mike Glass: welcome back MK
    Jul 5, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Jul 5, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: it's good to be home, lot of fun but just so much walking
    Jul 5, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: now get outta here
    Jul 5, 2015 4:51 PM - jbigler1986: jk
Jul 5, 2015 4:51 PM - WheresWaldo: Yep, bottles are usually A-PET (most people drop the A), then there is RPET (recycled A-PET) PET-G and PET-I (isophthalic acid)
Jul 5, 2015 4:52 PM - Mike Kelly: are you an engineer as well?
Jul 5, 2015 4:53 PM - WheresWaldo: No, I was in the security software industry for nearly 20 years. I just enjoy learning about what I am currently working with.
Jul 5, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: very cool
    Jul 5, 2015 4:55 PM - donhuevo: it's got goop on it
Jul 5, 2015 4:55 PM - WheresWaldo: Hence my playing with stuff I have no business playing with, like new versions of the firmware.
Jul 5, 2015 5:03 PM - donhuevo: play with your firmware too much and you may go blind
Jul 5, 2015 5:03 PM - donhuevo: that's what the school nurse told me anyway
    Jul 5, 2015 5:07 PM - Mike Glass: L
Jul 5, 2015 5:09 PM - donhuevo: not even an LO?
    Jul 5, 2015 5:15 PM - jbigler1986: LOW?
    Jul 5, 2015 5:16 PM - donhuevo: alrighty then
Jul 5, 2015 5:16 PM - Mike Glass: Damn phone
Jul 5, 2015 5:19 PM - donhuevo: wishing I had jb's weed scale right now to see how much difference I'll have between my pulley idler end printed at 75% infill and my motor end printed at 25%
    Jul 5, 2015 5:19 PM - daniel871: I hate waiting on parts shipping.
Jul 5, 2015 5:20 PM - donhuevo: I had two rolls of hatchbox on my doorstep yesterday
Jul 5, 2015 5:20 PM - daniel871: At least now I know the motors I ordered from Amazon both actually work and the problem is the stepper driver.
Jul 5, 2015 5:21 PM - donhuevo: do you still have your ceramic screwdriver?
Jul 5, 2015 5:21 PM - mayhem: okay im back..lol. i changed the settings on mattercontrol 1.2 to the cura engine and no filament came out of the extruder. so i changed it to slic3r and it started to print but it was coming out the same way as the other products, ridgid looking.. is it a whole new program i need to download?
    Jul 5, 2015 5:22 PM - daniel871: Yeah. I still have it.
Jul 5, 2015 5:22 PM - daniel871: Mayhem, at the very least check out the Cura Setup thread and try it.
Jul 5, 2015 5:22 PM - donhuevo: those stepper drivers really need tuned by ear while the motor is running and that ceramic is the only safe way to do that
Jul 5, 2015 5:23 PM - mayhem: daniel okay ty
    Jul 5, 2015 5:23 PM - daniel871: http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/how-to-cura-setup.4169/
Jul 5, 2015 5:26 PM - daniel871: So, what, write a short program that is basically "G1 E3000 F300" and tuning until it sounds right and then powering off?
Jul 5, 2015 5:28 PM - daniel871: I was going to have my cousin standing there spinning the LCD knob three or four times in either direcction as I was tuning it (assuming the stars don't align and it runs straight right out of plugging in).
Jul 5, 2015 5:28 PM - daniel871: Or basically "spin it until I tell you to stop, then spin it the other direction".
Jul 5, 2015 5:28 PM - donhuevo: as it's your extruder motor, just heat up the extruder without filament then use the manual controls to pretend to extrude 100mm at a time
Jul 5, 2015 5:29 PM - daniel871: The LCD I have won't allow you to use higher than 1mm increments on the Extruder on the manual controls.
Jul 5, 2015 5:29 PM - daniel871: (though it actually increments two on the knob)
    Jul 5, 2015 5:30 PM - donhuevo: repetier's manual controls will do 100mm at a time
    Jul 5, 2015 5:30 PM - donhuevo: don't know about mc
    Jul 5, 2015 5:30 PM - daniel871: If you pick 10mm, the Z and E won't work.
Jul 5, 2015 5:30 PM - daniel871: I haven't used Matter Control since two days after getting the Robo and reading the threads on here about it.
Jul 5, 2015 5:31 PM - daniel871: This is direct control via LCD. I only hook my PC up to update firmware or otherwise revise firmware. All programs are posted to an SD card and run from there.
    Jul 5, 2015 5:31 PM - donhuevo: gotcha
Jul 5, 2015 5:32 PM - donhuevo: hooking up the pc and running something like repetier for this might make it easier to tune
Jul 5, 2015 5:33 PM - daniel871: Might be able to do the same thing with the machine controls in S3D as well.
    Jul 5, 2015 5:33 PM - daniel871: Just haven't used them at all.
    Jul 5, 2015 5:33 PM - donhuevo: yep, I'm thinking you'd be able to
    Jul 5, 2015 5:34 PM - daniel871: Delivery should be "tomorrow by 8pm". I hope not.
Jul 5, 2015 5:34 PM - daniel871: Be nice to have it come in around lunch time so I can print some things tomorrow evening.
    Jul 5, 2015 5:34 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
    Jul 5, 2015 5:35 PM - donhuevo: repetier's version of manual control
    Jul 5, 2015 5:36 PM - daniel871: Hm.
    Jul 5, 2015 5:36 PM - daniel871: Waldo's firmware won't open in Arduino.
    Jul 5, 2015 5:37 PM - donhuevo: error?
Jul 5, 2015 5:40 PM - daniel871: Yeah, posted in his thread about it with a screenshot of the error popup that happens when I try to open his marlin.h file
Jul 5, 2015 5:40 PM - daniel871: Going to eat some dinner, may be back on later or may play games or blow up the rest of the leftover fireworks.
Jul 5, 2015 5:46 PM - donhuevo: finally found that thread. you have to open the ino file then you can view any of the other files inside the sketch
Jul 5, 2015 5:50 PM - jbigler1986: Anyone has the baby stepping code to add to the firmware?
    Jul 5, 2015 5:51 PM - donhuevo: everyone's playing with their firmware
Jul 5, 2015 5:52 PM - donhuevo: what about the jumpers under your stepper drivers? they'll multiply your steps up to 16x
Jul 5, 2015 6:00 PM - WheresWaldo: Daniel I posted a response, but basically it will only open a file if the folder it is in is named exactly the same. SO the firmware uses Marlin.ino by default, if you don't rename the .ino file then the sub-directory it goes in must be named Marlin.
    Jul 5, 2015 6:04 PM - WheresWaldo: @jb, babysteps are enabled in Configuration_adv.h
Jul 5, 2015 6:05 PM - WheresWaldo: Enable babysteps in line 307, don't forget to comment out babysteps for X and Y (line 308) since we don't need them and they clutter up the menu.
Jul 5, 2015 6:11 PM - daniel871: Does the M851 code essentially work the same way as the old M565 command?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:11 PM - daniel871: So "M565 Z-1.0" becomes "M851 Z-1.0"?
    Jul 5, 2015 6:13 PM - WheresWaldo: Yes
Jul 5, 2015 6:15 PM - WheresWaldo: But the cool thing is that I enabled writing to EEPROM, so once you get an offset you like you can issue a M851 Z-nnn <whatever number it is, then issue a M500 and it will store it in EEPROM, so it will be there for all subsequent reboots and power off/on cycles. No need to include it in startup gcode any more.
Jul 5, 2015 6:26 PM - jbigler1986: except if you need to change it
Jul 5, 2015 6:27 PM - jbigler1986: for instance if i have an object that has a small footprint i like to lower it so it smashes into the bed more holding it better
    Jul 5, 2015 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: [IMG]
    Jul 5, 2015 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: Works for me
Jul 5, 2015 7:03 PM - Mike Glass: if I had jumpers they wouldnt have far to jump if under the drivers.
    Jul 5, 2015 7:12 PM - donhuevo: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4#Stepper_Driver_Boards
Jul 5, 2015 8:02 PM - Mike Kelly: ugh making a portfolio is far too complex

Jul 6, 2015 4:42 AM - Bill Monroe: good morning
    Jul 6, 2015 4:45 AM - jbigler1986: how is ur monday
Jul 6, 2015 4:45 AM - Bill Monroe: not working today, that's good.. you?
Jul 6, 2015 4:45 AM - jbigler1986: working. good start to the day though
Jul 6, 2015 4:46 AM - jbigler1986: so i have to twist the left threaded rod 1 (click) up after a print starts to get the 1st layer good. not a big deal.
Jul 6, 2015 4:47 AM - Bill Monroe: i must have the same problem, I twost the rigth one down
Jul 6, 2015 4:48 AM - jbigler1986: weird. glad i figured it out. i'm always there when i start a print. so no biggie
    Jul 6, 2015 4:48 AM - jbigler1986: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/jbigler1986
Jul 6, 2015 4:49 AM - Bill Monroe: the table mount on the robo is such a POS.. if I had time I'd rip it all out with gusto and do a proper mechanism
Jul 6, 2015 4:53 AM - jbigler1986: I scrapped some extruders/drive gears bc i thought they were the issue of it failing on the first layer
Jul 6, 2015 4:53 AM - Bill Monroe: tht sux
    Jul 6, 2015 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe: btw.. acceleration 2000.. fail
Jul 6, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: i still have the drive gears but the extruders i tossed
    Jul 6, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: extruder designs i should say
Jul 6, 2015 4:56 AM - jbigler1986: i wonder what the true issue is though
Jul 6, 2015 5:00 AM - Bill Monroe: its a combination of funky table slide design, twin limit switches that require precise mouting locations but provide no way to adjust them precisely, and a pitiful attempt to compensate for mechanical issues by using weak software code to compensate
    Jul 6, 2015 5:14 AM - jbigler1986: easy fix for now
Jul 6, 2015 5:14 AM - JeffTheMess: Refreshing to come back from a 3 day weekend....Good morning Robonauts
    Jul 6, 2015 5:15 AM - Bill Monroe: jeff
    Jul 6, 2015 5:15 AM - JeffTheMess: (I know your jealous Bill)
Jul 6, 2015 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, these 14 day weekends dont hold a candle to the classic 3 day pauses
    Jul 6, 2015 5:38 AM - JeffTheMess: nice

Jul 6, 2015 6:16 AM - jbigler1986: any thoughts on my issue don? i have figured out where the issue is exactly. i remove weight from the counterweight and its the same
Jul 6, 2015 6:16 AM - JeffTheMess: nice, I assume it keeps it alot more stable
Jul 6, 2015 6:17 AM - donhuevo: its much more stable and zero z issues.

Jul 6, 2015 6:20 AM - jbigler1986: 4 magnets on the bottom of the glass bed. one on each corner
Jul 6, 2015 6:21 AM - donhuevo: k... mine came with 3. one in the middle in the back. I ended up printing spacers for the two back corners to make it stable
Jul 6, 2015 6:24 AM - jbigler1986: here i was thinking my other extruders i was trying out were failing.
Jul 6, 2015 6:25 AM - donhuevo: I didn't realize how far back this issue went
    Jul 6, 2015 6:25 AM - jbigler1986: like a week and a half
Jul 6, 2015 6:26 AM - jbigler1986: maybe longer now that i think about it

    Jul 6, 2015 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: yeah $3300
Jul 6, 2015 8:43 AM - donhuevo: weird looking motor running the spindle. like a stretched stepper
    Jul 6, 2015 8:44 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it's a really long one
Jul 6, 2015 8:45 AM - donhuevo: not gonna touch that. not even with a really long ten foot pole
Jul 6, 2015 8:46 AM - Mike Kelly: that stepper is HUGE
    Jul 6, 2015 8:52 AM - Mike Kelly: http://joes3dworkbench.blogspot.com/2015/07/food-safe-video.html
Jul 6, 2015 9:00 AM - donhuevo: so if you spray the inside of your 3d printed cup with lysol before you drink out of it, your good.
Jul 6, 2015 9:01 AM - Mike Glass: Made just down the road from me. well 90 miles.
Jul 6, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: so your next door neighbor?
Jul 6, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Glass: How much would you pay for one if you really wanted one?
    Jul 6, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: probably 2k
    Jul 6, 2015 9:03 AM - Mike Kelly: if i had that
Jul 6, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: Yeah thats what I was thinking, if it was that price I would sell something.

    Jul 6, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Glass: that is a monster
Jul 6, 2015 9:08 AM - Mike Glass: we have one of those but its a 72"
Jul 6, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: they listed a 60" in the email but must have sold it already
Jul 6, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Glass: you will pay more than that in just cartridges and heads if it doesnt come with them.
Jul 6, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: maybe if I were opening a print shop. There are definitely better toys out there
Jul 6, 2015 9:13 AM - Mike Glass: they do great color posters on photo paper. I print my planes on it once and a while.
Jul 6, 2015 9:25 AM - donhuevo: imagine the cat posters!
Jul 6, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: god dammit print came unstuck from raft
Jul 6, 2015 9:28 AM - Mike Kelly: s3d 3.0 is not living up to expectations
Jul 6, 2015 9:30 AM - donhuevo: how does that even happen?
    Jul 6, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: i have no clue
Jul 6, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: actually i do have some clue
Jul 6, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i left the raft separation distance as .14, just changed it to 0
Jul 6, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Glass: will it come off is the question.
Jul 6, 2015 9:33 AM - Mike Kelly: with hips? yeah
Jul 6, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: oh, well then
Jul 6, 2015 9:41 AM - JeffTheMess: anyone else excited for Windows 10?
    Jul 6, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: not particularly i guess
    Jul 6, 2015 9:41 AM - donhuevo: I've heard some good things...
    Jul 6, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: i guess if i was using windows 8 i would be
    Jul 6, 2015 9:42 AM - JeffTheMess: your a Mac
    Jul 6, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: he's still on win95
    Jul 6, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: 3.1
    Jul 6, 2015 9:43 AM - donhuevo: ME
Jul 6, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: dont even say that evil word don
Jul 6, 2015 9:43 AM - donhuevo: I think Vista is slightly more evil
Jul 6, 2015 9:44 AM - Mike Glass: yea I avoided that one.
Jul 6, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Kelly: vista was fine, people exagerated too much
Jul 6, 2015 9:45 AM - donhuevo: unless you were tasked with fixing it
Jul 6, 2015 9:45 AM - Mike Glass: for business it was shit, for home yea was fine
Jul 6, 2015 9:46 AM - JeffTheMess: windows 8 wasn't bad for the average user since it was meant more for the tablet
Jul 6, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah my school still ran XP because they didn't want to use Vista
Jul 6, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: no operating system should have 2 UI's
    Jul 6, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Kelly: that's just bad design
Jul 6, 2015 9:46 AM - Mike Glass: still think Win2K was the best os.
Jul 6, 2015 9:47 AM - donhuevo: my vote is either xp or 7
    Jul 6, 2015 9:47 AM - Mike Kelly: 7's pretty good
Jul 6, 2015 9:47 AM - donhuevo: trying to remember the last BSOD I've seen
Jul 6, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: I am amazed oh how well w8 runs on older hardware, we have put it on 10 year old laptops and runs faster then win7 or xp.
Jul 6, 2015 9:48 AM - donhuevo: 10 is reported to have an even smaller footprint and run faster than 8
Jul 6, 2015 9:48 AM - donhuevo: put some finger quotes in there somewhere
Jul 6, 2015 9:48 AM - Mike Glass: I will dl from our portal and test it out:)
Jul 6, 2015 9:49 AM - JeffTheMess: software is one hell of a drug
    Jul 6, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i won't be updating to 10 for a while i reckon
Jul 6, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Kelly: until i'm sure all my software will run well
    Jul 6, 2015 9:49 AM - donhuevo: I have a tablet I'll try it out on
Jul 6, 2015 9:50 AM - JeffTheMess: (he get win10 for free, but you will have to repurchase all your software, like xbox0ne)
Jul 6, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah they're pushing the app centric OS
Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: Office 2007 on 10 will be one of my first tests
Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Kelly: as long as solidworks 13 and 15 runs on it
    Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - jbigler1986: vista was a nightmare
Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - Mike Glass: when is it suppose to be released?
Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - JeffTheMess: mattercontrol should be tested on 10 first
    Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - JeffTheMess: july 29
    Jul 6, 2015 9:52 AM - donhuevo: MfnC?
Jul 6, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: aw, thats why its not showing up yet.
Jul 6, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: mattercontrol should never be tested on any OS
    Jul 6, 2015 9:53 AM - jbigler1986: straight into the recycle bin
    Jul 6, 2015 9:54 AM - JeffTheMess: internet explorer=mattercontrol
Jul 6, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: mattercontrol should actually be tested
    Jul 6, 2015 9:55 AM - donhuevo: I spit in mattercontrol's general direction
Jul 6, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Glass: since they are going to be part of robo
Jul 6, 2015 9:55 AM - JeffTheMess: once you go s3d you delete MC
    Jul 6, 2015 9:57 AM - jbigler1986: deleted it before that
    Jul 6, 2015 9:58 AM - donhuevo: I wouldn't mind seeing a service pack 2 for 7. Everytime I set up a new machine, it's at least 4 hours of security updates
    Jul 6, 2015 9:59 AM - JeffTheMess: i hated that
Jul 6, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Kelly: i'd like that as well
Jul 6, 2015 9:59 AM - Mike Glass: come on its only like 187 patches on a fresh install of sp1
    Jul 6, 2015 10:00 AM - jbigler1986: on dial up please
Jul 6, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Glass: You dont do any imaging Don?
Jul 6, 2015 10:03 AM - donhuevo: unfortunately, all our machines are different. Turns into a 6 of 1 half dozen of the other situation
Jul 6, 2015 10:05 AM - donhuevo: I know there's some method of rolling up a bunch of security updates into an install cd but I'm never motivated enough to track that down
    Jul 6, 2015 10:09 AM - donhuevo: something like this... https://www.raymond.cc/blog/create-an-integrated-up-to-date-windows-7-install-disc/
    Jul 6, 2015 10:09 AM - JeffTheMess: if you weren't lazy enough....http://www.instructables.com/id/Morning-Routine-Machine/

Jul 6, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: i need something that actually gets me out of bed in the morning
Jul 6, 2015 10:15 AM - donhuevo: something with a cattle prod on it perhaps?
Jul 6, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that might work
Jul 6, 2015 10:17 AM - donhuevo: I'm thinking it'd only need to bite you once during your alarm and it would change the way you got out of bed forever
Jul 6, 2015 10:17 AM - Mike Glass: yea slipstreaming never seems to work 100%, we are getting a imaging system from dell, from their case division, it will work with all brands of hardware and collect all the drivers for you.
Jul 6, 2015 10:18 AM - donhuevo: probably 99% of the machines we have are Dell.
    Jul 6, 2015 10:19 AM - donhuevo: I'd only need 3 images... Server, Workstation & POS
Jul 6, 2015 10:19 AM - donhuevo: crap... a bunch of our PO
Jul 6, 2015 10:19 AM - donhuevo: POS machines are HP
    Jul 6, 2015 10:20 AM - donhuevo: crap
Jul 6, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Glass: Dell Kace is the product but like 16K probably not worth it unless you have alot of desktops.
Jul 6, 2015 10:23 AM - Mike Glass: all our POS are all now VDI
Jul 6, 2015 10:24 AM - WheresWaldo: Okay, so you guys are talking OS's?
Jul 6, 2015 10:24 AM - Mike Glass: nope POS
    Jul 6, 2015 10:25 AM - Mike Glass: which is microsoft..lol
Jul 6, 2015 10:25 AM - WheresWaldo: When I had my bicycle shop I was using MS Dynamics RMS
Jul 6, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Glass: Im a linux person, all that ms crm and what not beyond me.
Jul 6, 2015 10:28 AM - WheresWaldo: I only dabble in Linux for specific things, XBMC (now Kodi), File server running 16 TB Raid 6 array, Raspberry Pi running Octoprint. Otherwise it is sadly Microsoft all the way.
    Jul 6, 2015 10:29 AM - JeffTheMess: Microsoft isn't that bad
    Jul 6, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Kelly: they're pretty bad
Jul 6, 2015 10:30 AM - WheresWaldo: I agree, been usig Windows 10 Preview since the start, it will be one of their better OS's
Jul 6, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Kelly: firing thousands of employees to outsource their work to another country
    Jul 6, 2015 10:30 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, like poor Jerry..lol
Jul 6, 2015 10:31 AM - WheresWaldo: MK how is that any different than all tech companies?
Jul 6, 2015 10:31 AM - JeffTheMess: well if your talking about of than the OS yeah
Jul 6, 2015 10:32 AM - Mike Kelly: just because everyone else is doing doesn't make it acceptable
Jul 6, 2015 10:32 AM - donhuevo: sorry... 16k? is that even worth it for you?
Jul 6, 2015 10:32 AM - WheresWaldo: You can't pick and choose whom you will show your indignance to, if everyone is doing it.
Jul 6, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: how do you figure
Jul 6, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: i dunno don, we will be 50% vdi by this time next year, and will have 200 or so desktops that will be regular machines.
Jul 6, 2015 10:35 AM - JeffTheMess: China loves the extra work, they don't want even compliance work done outside their country now everyone else is saying screw I won't accpect your shit
Jul 6, 2015 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: i certainly haven't heard of apple firing 3000+ designers and programmers to ship those jobs to india
    Jul 6, 2015 10:35 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jul 6, 2015 10:35 AM - WheresWaldo: MG are you using something like VMWare or some other virtualization platform?
Jul 6, 2015 10:36 AM - Mike Glass: yep vmware view
Jul 6, 2015 10:37 AM - donhuevo: I'm trying to imagine how often you'd need to do a fresh install on a machine to make 16k worthwhile
Jul 6, 2015 10:37 AM - JeffTheMess: Apple treats their employee like Indian workers
Jul 6, 2015 10:38 AM - Mike Kelly: now that's certainly not true
Jul 6, 2015 10:38 AM - JeffTheMess: Im talking about making them the craziest hours ever
Jul 6, 2015 10:39 AM - Mike Kelly: they don't make them do that, they're just a competitive environment
Jul 6, 2015 10:39 AM - Stephen Capistron: MK, markforged is hiring for an equity stake. Don't know if you can work remotely though
Jul 6, 2015 10:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes it is, If you work in Cupertino then no, you are treated fairly well by Apple, but 70% of their US workforce work in Apple stores, and they are treated like Walmart employees.
Jul 6, 2015 10:40 AM - Mike Kelly: now that's also not true
Jul 6, 2015 10:41 AM - WheresWaldo: So what is the number, as 70% has been in the news media for years.
Jul 6, 2015 10:41 AM - Mike Kelly: that's probably true but they certainly aren't treated like walmart employees
Jul 6, 2015 10:41 AM - Stephen Capistron: They might not be treated as well as Costco or Starbucks people, but pretty much every employer is better than walmart
    Jul 6, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
Jul 6, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Glass: they do fresh install daily, they are to lazy to figure out a problem, oh lets just re-image it.
Jul 6, 2015 10:42 AM - Mike Kelly: and i'm not talking about hourly workers, i'm talking salaried
Jul 6, 2015 10:42 AM - WheresWaldo: So maybe Walmart was a stretch, but the environment in Apple stores is not better than the average retail marketspzce.
Jul 6, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: it just rubs me the wrong way to fire 3000 technical employees to move those jobs overseas
Jul 6, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Kelly: that's just scummy no matter how you slice it
Jul 6, 2015 10:44 AM - WheresWaldo: Yes I agree, it is a despicable practice, but not one without precedent, Dell, HP, IBM, others have or are continuing to do it.
Jul 6, 2015 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: that doesn't make it acceptable
Jul 6, 2015 10:45 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, I dont like talking to people I cant understand, I will not do business with those type of companies.
Jul 6, 2015 10:45 AM - Mike Kelly: outsourcing tech support is one thing, but outsourcing design is a bad precident
Jul 6, 2015 10:48 AM - WheresWaldo: So All my point was you cannot single out one particular company for despicable business practices if many others do the same thing. Share your disgust equally is all I'm saying. And the US does not have a monopoly on great design work, We had a bunch of products developed by Israeli software engineers that where light years ahead of what we produced in Santa Monica.
Jul 6, 2015 10:48 AM - Mike Kelly: oh i do, but we were discussing microsoft
Jul 6, 2015 10:49 AM - Mike Kelly: i'm allowed to focus my disdain as well as have a broader view
Jul 6, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: it has nothing to do with the ability of foreigners to provide equal quality, it's about american companies not providing american jobs
    Jul 6, 2015 10:50 AM - JeffTheMess: (and taxes)
Jul 6, 2015 10:50 AM - Mike Kelly: also taxes
Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - WheresWaldo: I look at companies in the tech industry and then compare them to big pharma and I find myself much more disgusted with those companies in general.
    Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: oh snap
Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Glass: America is going to shit, we see it everyday, get worse and worse
Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: ugh pharma is disgusting, let's not talk about those scum of the earth
Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: we're the only country with advertisements for drugs
Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - jbigler1986: yep. america is going downhill fast
Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - WheresWaldo: Is that true?
    Jul 6, 2015 10:51 AM - Mike Kelly: yup
Jul 6, 2015 10:52 AM - WheresWaldo: I did not know that, huh, live and learn.
Jul 6, 2015 10:52 AM - Mike Kelly: it's ok we'll all be required to learn mandarin soon as we default on our debts
Jul 6, 2015 10:52 AM - jbigler1986: profit off of peoples sickness like crazy. pretty disgusting
Jul 6, 2015 10:52 AM - Stephen Capistron: Best part about Lipitor is you'll forget what the side effects are once you start taking it
Jul 6, 2015 10:52 AM - donhuevo: everytime I get foreign tech support this is what I picture... [IMG]

    Jul 6, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Kelly: they're bars not stripes
Jul 6, 2015 10:53 AM - Mike Glass: Hey that is bob, I have talked to him
Jul 6, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Glass: sorry didnt mean to offend you
Jul 6, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Kelly: it also was barely even the confederate flag
Jul 6, 2015 10:54 AM - jbigler1986: hey don. your stripper wears those shorts doesn't she?
Jul 6, 2015 10:54 AM - JeffTheMess: hey atleast we are number one with fat people :(
Jul 6, 2015 10:54 AM - WheresWaldo: Funny you mention Manderin, when I was in high school (before Columbus) the school I went to taught the normal French, Spanish, Italian as foreign languages, but they also taught Russian. I begged them to find a Chinese instructor but they said no one would be interested.
Jul 6, 2015 10:54 AM - Mike Glass: seriously everybody is turning into a bunch is sissies these days
    Jul 6, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Kelly:

Jul 6, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Glass: Fat is because we eat diet food that is actually worse for you, and is banned in most countries.
Jul 6, 2015 10:55 AM - AxisLab: This is the confederate flag [IMG]
Jul 6, 2015 10:55 AM - Mike Kelly: jeff that must be what people refer to when they say we're number 1

Jul 6, 2015 4:25 PM - jbigler1986: MK that carriage will work fine for dual right?

Jul 6, 2015 4:26 PM - Stephen Capistron: My guess is that it would be salary divided by net present value of shares times some risk modifier
Jul 6, 2015 4:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: I remember an angel investor once telling me that hitting on 1 out of ten investments was doing well. So 10x as the modifier?
Jul 6, 2015 4:27 PM - Stephen Capistron: Seems kind of crazy though

Jul 6, 2015 4:43 PM - Mike Kelly: Alright jb. You know what must be done
    Jul 6, 2015 4:43 PM - jbigler1986: what
Jul 6, 2015 4:43 PM - Mike Kelly: Yeah you gotta let the part sit for like a week with cold vapor. I'm way too impatient for that

Jul 6, 2015 4:45 PM - Stephen Capistron: After you make your millions at markforged you need to develop the hot vapor printer

Jul 6, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Kelly: Will do
Jul 6, 2015 4:46 PM - Mike Kelly: After I make millions all my random ideas will come to fruition
Jul 6, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah i did cold vapor once. Part looked good but after a few hours it started to turn white
Jul 6, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: After removing it from cold vapor that is
Jul 6, 2015 4:50 PM - Mike Kelly: Might depend on the filament

    Jul 6, 2015 4:51 PM - Mike Kelly: Shiny
Jul 6, 2015 4:52 PM - Stephen Capistron: Buchi makes vapor recovery machines for spray drying, would work well for collecting the vapors
Jul 6, 2015 4:52 PM - Stephen Capistron: what is that?
    Jul 6, 2015 4:52 PM - jbigler1986: I saw a nice vapor machine a while ago
    Jul 6, 2015 4:53 PM - jbigler1986: Not weed vapor

Jul 6, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: I want to add a pid controller for my vapor though. Bang bang is not ideal
Jul 6, 2015 4:54 PM - Mike Kelly: No I should have but there was a few imperfections I sanded down then needed to polish to bring back the color
    Jul 6, 2015 4:58 PM - jbigler1986: Make the 1.6 your workhorse
