Looking good, Mike. I've been thinking about trying to add the Cyclops to my Robo 3D for a while, but haven't gotten around to pulling the trigger yet. How do you like your dual bowden setup, and is there any chance that you'd be willing to write up some information about how the rest of us could print and install it?

I also like your LED strips. I had about 10 LEDs left over from replacing some bulbs in my car that I soldered to some speaker wire and went to town with a hot glue gun to give me some light. It looked terrible, but got the job done. Finally replaced them with LED strips yesterday.

 

Yeah now that I'm enjoying my dual extruder setup I might do a writeup for it. I don't want to encourage people to do something they're not capable of managing either. Duals are no picnic and require a lot of user knowledge to work well.

 

Good to know. I'll probably have to do quite a bit more research before jumping into it. I'm sure I could eventually figure it out, but it's always nice to avoid the headaches that you can see coming and plan for.

 

do you get much leakage from the nozzle thats not printing ?

 

Yeah there's a few gotchas, but most of them involve prep and slicing.

You'd need a bondtech and modular carriage v2.

 

Have you got a source for the drive wheels for the bondtech?

That's a lot of money, are you finding it worth the investment?

 

I'm kind of on the fence right now. I'm thoroughly impressed by how much supplied force it can generate. I've tried stopping it by hand and have been unable.

Though my motors make funny noises at high speed and stall out. I had bought these motors prior and didn't get the 8mm drive shaft ones that bondtech sells. The ones I use are 6mm and from OMC-stepperonline. I think they need tuning or something to work better at higher speeds.

 

I hope you do a write up I really would like to mimic your set up (at least the dual extruder and Bowden set up { do you have files for your new Bowden extruder it looks really sleek}) I'm new to 3d printing but have years of electrical and mechanical engineering experience and would love to dry run your write up for you

 

The motor seems quite far back, does it hit the case on a tall print?

 

Nope that was part of the design intent. The motor is the first thing to hit but it hits around 230mm so you're still gaining height over stock.

Sweet!.. my shop looks like a bomb went off. I have a hard time keeping it clean for long.. my 3d printers are in my office though...and its mostly organized now lol.
