Jul 29, 2015 9:02 PM - Mike Kelly: there we go, 3 printers printing
    Jul 29, 2015 9:03 PM - donhuevo: woot
Jul 29, 2015 9:04 PM - Mike Kelly: hey don would you be willing to find me that picture i had you take of your bowden tube
Jul 29, 2015 9:06 PM - donhuevo: this one? [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 9:07 PM - Mike Kelly: got one from the front?
Jul 29, 2015 9:07 PM - bamhm182: So I'm pretty sure that while trying to get the arduino to be read by the computer, I wiped its software and since the serial port is shot, I'm SOL
    Jul 29, 2015 9:07 PM - Mike Kelly: wut
Jul 29, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: what happened to the usb port?
Jul 29, 2015 9:08 PM - bamhm182: I managed to completely destroy everything while you were gone
    Jul 29, 2015 9:08 PM - Mike Kelly: super
Jul 29, 2015 9:09 PM - bamhm182: I tried to plug in the Y stepper driver a while back, missed it by a pin
Jul 29, 2015 9:09 PM - bamhm182: It made some horrible whining noise and I smelled burning electronics
Jul 29, 2015 9:10 PM - Mike Glass: While it was on? that is not good
Jul 29, 2015 9:10 PM - bamhm182: The driver was visibly damaged. Left it for a while, came back, took it all apart, put it back together. Everything's working fine, but my steppers are in 1/32 mode and all I have is the stock 1/16 drivers. No problem, plug it into the computer. Problem. Doesn't see it
Jul 29, 2015 9:11 PM - bamhm182: Nah, it was off, but I turned it on without realizing my mistake
Jul 29, 2015 9:12 PM - Mike Glass: bitchen Camaro
    Jul 29, 2015 9:12 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 9:12 PM - bamhm182: So I'm here trying to get my computer to realize there is an arduino plugged into it, and came across a suggestion to hold down the reset button while trying a few other things. Think that wiped my firmware
    Jul 29, 2015 9:12 PM - bamhm182: Don, that blue looks awesome
Jul 29, 2015 9:12 PM - Mike Glass: pretty blue
    Jul 29, 2015 9:13 PM - donhuevo: I'm liking it
    Jul 29, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: thanks
Jul 29, 2015 9:13 PM - Mike Kelly: you could probably trim it
    Jul 29, 2015 9:14 PM - donhuevo: yep. it's too long
Jul 29, 2015 9:18 PM - bamhm182: I think that if I can't get this arduino working, I'm going to go ahead and get that Sainsmart 2560/Ramps 1.4 AIO that I linked earlier
Jul 29, 2015 9:22 PM - toy: i got a pick of my new bowden run .. one sec
Jul 29, 2015 9:22 PM - Mike Kelly: hey don got that pic of your spool holder
    Jul 29, 2015 9:24 PM - donhuevo: yes?
    Jul 29, 2015 9:24 PM - toy: http://imgur.com/8Oty1oL
    Jul 29, 2015 9:25 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 9:27 PM - toy: i got my bondtech issued solved, i think im gonna try to push it some
Jul 29, 2015 9:39 PM - donhuevo: any other pictures I can get you Miguel? [IMG]
    Jul 29, 2015 9:45 PM - Mike Glass: haha
    Jul 29, 2015 9:46 PM - bamhm182: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Newest-Dual...-3D-Printer-/321758281351?hash=item4aea49be87
Jul 29, 2015 9:47 PM - bamhm182: Huh, that thing looks oddly familiar. Haha
Jul 29, 2015 9:58 PM - bamhm182: So it looks like I've got it back to working... With 1/32 microsteps...
    Jul 29, 2015 9:58 PM - donhuevo: yay!
Jul 29, 2015 9:58 PM - bamhm182: Ordered that Sainsmart ramps/2560 already though. To cancel, or not to cancel, that is the question
Jul 29, 2015 9:58 PM - bamhm182: Either way, it looks like the serial on this guy is fried
Jul 29, 2015 9:59 PM - bamhm182: Also, it turns out that what was causing the printer to be "broken" this most recent time was removing the jumpers
Jul 29, 2015 10:00 PM - donhuevo: I wonder if you can send it a gcode command from your software
Jul 29, 2015 10:00 PM - donhuevo: not sure what you use but it has to have a 'command line'
    Jul 29, 2015 10:00 PM - bamhm182: I doubt it
Jul 29, 2015 10:00 PM - bamhm182: The LCD screen still works though
    Jul 29, 2015 10:01 PM - donhuevo: finally a test that doesn't require disassembly
    Jul 29, 2015 10:04 PM - bamhm182: Well, it's already 100% disassembled, haha
    Jul 29, 2015 10:07 PM - bamhm182: [IMG]
Jul 29, 2015 10:07 PM - donhuevo: very, very carefully... put it back together
    Jul 29, 2015 10:07 PM - bamhm182: Current state
Jul 29, 2015 10:10 PM - bamhm182: Wonder if I could somehow get usb connectivity out of something other than the usb...
Jul 29, 2015 10:13 PM - donhuevo: do you have a pc or just a mac?
    Jul 29, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: Both
Jul 29, 2015 10:15 PM - bamhm182: Sitting on top of my PC there, then I've got a Mac Mini out in the garage
Jul 29, 2015 10:16 PM - donhuevo: and it's the pc that it isn't talking to?
Jul 29, 2015 10:17 PM - bamhm182: Tried it on the Mac too
Jul 29, 2015 10:17 PM - bamhm182: Plugged in my Teensy and both computer pick it up just fine
Jul 29, 2015 10:18 PM - bamhm182: Looks like there's one chip that controls the main operations, and another that controls the serial and what not. Looks like somewhere along the line I fried the one that controls the serial
    Jul 29, 2015 10:18 PM - bamhm182: If I had a guess
Jul 29, 2015 10:19 PM - bamhm182: Also, with the serious case of stupidity I've been afflicted with the past few days, I'd say that it sounds about right
    Jul 29, 2015 10:19 PM - donhuevo: take a peek at this... http://superuser.com/questions/408976/how-do-i-clean-up-com-ports-in-use
    Jul 29, 2015 10:25 PM - bamhm182: No luck
Jul 29, 2015 10:26 PM - bamhm182: Can I get you to look at something? On my Mega 2560, there are three lights; a green power led, and two orange leds (RX and TX if you are familiar with Arduino)
    Jul 29, 2015 10:26 PM - donhuevo: semi familiar
Jul 29, 2015 10:27 PM - bamhm182: I believe RX and TX are input and output for the serial although I may be wrong. Either way, are both your RX and TX lights on when you have your printer on and not doing anything?
Jul 29, 2015 10:27 PM - bamhm182: I believe you can see them if you look through the usb port at the correct angle
Jul 29, 2015 10:27 PM - donhuevo: you really can't see them under the ramps board
Jul 29, 2015 10:28 PM - bamhm182: Not even if you look through the hole that you put the USB into?
Jul 29, 2015 10:28 PM - donhuevo: I see the red light on the ramps
    Jul 29, 2015 10:29 PM - bamhm182: Weird, I didn't notice any LEDs on my RAMPS
    Jul 29, 2015 10:30 PM - bamhm182: I mean on the bottom
Jul 29, 2015 10:30 PM - bamhm182: but now I see where your red one is
Jul 29, 2015 11:36 PM - bamhm182: Well, I found out that the issue is I was reading the jumpers backwards. Took off jumper 1 instead of jumper 3 and that's what caused the arduino to hang and me to think I deleted the robo information.
Jul 29, 2015 11:39 PM - bamhm182: Also, it turns out that taking off a jumper is not what I wanted to do in the first place. Took off jumper 3 and instead of it halving the steps, I'm thinking it doubled them. I have some gcode that moves the x/y/z/e forward 20, then backwards 20 over and over. On the forward 20 part of the instructions, the x and y shot all the way to the positive side and the z shot up like a rocket. Going to have to wait for my replacement 1/32 stepper drivers
    Jul 29, 2015 11:39 PM - bamhm182: to come in
    Jul 29, 2015 11:41 PM - toy: thats sucks
Jul 29, 2015 11:43 PM - toy: isnt it all the jumpers for 1/32 stepping?
    Jul 29, 2015 11:44 PM - toy: https://www.pololu.com/product/2132
    Jul 29, 2015 11:45 PM - bamhm182: http://www.reprap.org/wiki/RAMPS_1.4#Stepper_Driver_Boards
Jul 29, 2015 11:45 PM - toy: if your HIGH HIGH LOW your 1/8 stepping
    Jul 29, 2015 11:47 PM - bamhm182: Yeah
Jul 29, 2015 11:49 PM - bamhm182: The issue is that in the firmware, I had to change my steps from 80, 80, 800 to 160, 160, 1600 to account for the 1/32 microsteps, but I was trying to use 1/16 microstep drivers and I can't reflash the firmware
Jul 29, 2015 11:50 PM - bamhm182: I tried HIGH HIGH LOW and it almost shot my carriage through the roof

Jul 30, 2015 3:22 AM - Bill Monroe: may your spam cause your site to be infused with the blood of swine.
    Jul 30, 2015 3:23 AM - bamhm182: السلام عليكم يا كمبيوتر الاعلان!
    Jul 30, 2015 3:23 AM - bamhm182: Hello, advertisement computer!
    Jul 30, 2015 3:23 AM - bamhm182: :p

Jul 30, 2015 3:27 AM - bamhm182: God willing, your website will be mixed with swine blood
    Jul 30, 2015 3:27 AM - bamhm182: How goes it, everyone?
Jul 30, 2015 3:29 AM - Bill Monroe: it goes
Jul 30, 2015 3:31 AM - bamhm182: Managed to kill my printer, gave up and went on to try and kill my raspberry pi. Things didn't go as planned, and now I have things working with that. Yikes...
Jul 30, 2015 3:32 AM - Bill Monroe: maybe you should take up needlepoint
Jul 30, 2015 3:32 AM - daniel871: The Robo has blue balls today. Was almost able to run test prints but need to drill out a drive gear for an 8mm shaft and fix the thermistor on nozzle #1.
    Jul 30, 2015 3:33 AM - daniel871: Nozzle #2 is reporting the temperature, nozzle #1 read zero.
Jul 30, 2015 3:40 AM - bamhm182: Nah, I'd manage to put an eye out with that, here I'm just breaking everything that isn't me
Jul 30, 2015 4:41 AM - JeffTheMess: good morning robonauts
Jul 30, 2015 4:48 AM - jbigler1986: the damn autolevel has really been my only issue

    Jul 30, 2015 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: southern belle's are amazing as well
Jul 30, 2015 5:17 AM - JeffTheMess: im now from NC i hear people say NC folks are considered "yankees"
Jul 30, 2015 5:19 AM - JeffTheMess: Iced Tea is like crack here along with Bojangles
    Jul 30, 2015 5:20 AM - jbigler1986: bojangles is good
Jul 30, 2015 5:28 AM - daniel871: Bojangles, Huddle House and Waffle House.
Jul 30, 2015 5:28 AM - daniel871: Huddle House has been doing the "put bacon in EVERYTHING" thing.
Jul 30, 2015 5:29 AM - daniel871: Bacon mixed into waffle batter, served with chicken and eggs.
Jul 30, 2015 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: i like waffle house. never heard of huddle house
Jul 30, 2015 5:44 AM - jbigler1986: country fried bacon with a bacon gravy dipping sauce
    Jul 30, 2015 5:46 AM - JeffTheMess: yum
    Jul 30, 2015 5:46 AM - jbigler1986: sooooooooo healthy
Jul 30, 2015 6:12 AM - JeffTheMess: anyone doing anything at all!?
    Jul 30, 2015 6:22 AM - daniel871: I'm looking busy at work.
    Jul 30, 2015 6:23 AM - jbigler1986: i'm busy as hell. so far behind
    Jul 30, 2015 6:24 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Jul 30, 2015 6:52 AM - jbigler1986: alot of new people have been signing up lately
Jul 30, 2015 6:53 AM - JeffTheMess: they'll sign up to get what they need then never come back
Jul 30, 2015 6:53 AM - daniel871: I don't know, you guys have been stuck with me ever since I signed up to figure out things I was doing wrong with my printer.
Jul 30, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: Got moved to a hole-in-the-wall office in the shop while some renovations were being done.
Jul 30, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: Fine with me, now I can play Pandora Radio on my PC without bothering anyone.
Jul 30, 2015 6:54 AM - daniel871: Haha, Triumph's "Turn Up The Radio" just came on.
Jul 30, 2015 6:55 AM - jbigler1986: yeah we try to help as much as possible. unlike a lot of other forums
Jul 30, 2015 6:57 AM - jbigler1986: MK finally fixed his bowden angle. I bet he has way less issues now. [IMG]
Jul 30, 2015 6:58 AM - daniel871: Yeah, after I get the thermistor on #1 fixed I'll fix the hercustruders onto the sides of the robo and get to slicing.
Jul 30, 2015 7:00 AM - daniel871: Figure I'll copy what you were doing and have the extruders on either side of the Robo a spool mount below each extruder so that the filament can go straight up into the gear.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:00 AM - jbigler1986: it works really well
Jul 30, 2015 7:00 AM - daniel871: Figured out why the one stepper was $20 more than the other.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:01 AM - jbigler1986: the shaft
Jul 30, 2015 7:01 AM - daniel871: Yeah. Also the actual motor body and gear box are bigger as well. Same profile, but longer.
Jul 30, 2015 7:02 AM - jbigler1986: as long as you end up with same esteps it doesn't matter
Jul 30, 2015 7:02 AM - daniel871: I'll attempt to drill out a Tatsu some time today to fit that shaft, so they should be the same.
Jul 30, 2015 7:03 AM - daniel871: Good thing they sent me some extras for whatever reason.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: i don't think there is enough meat on it
    Jul 30, 2015 7:03 AM - jbigler1986: i think it will break
Jul 30, 2015 7:04 AM - daniel871: The inside of the geared area measure 11mm at the tightest spot.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:04 AM - daniel871: measures.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:04 AM - jbigler1986: it's how deep the teeth are.
Jul 30, 2015 7:05 AM - daniel871: If I had a good way to turn down the shaft on the stepper I'd do that.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:06 AM - Bill Monroe: that's what she said
    Jul 30, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: Do they make a drive gear for an 8mm shaft?
    Jul 30, 2015 7:06 AM - daniel871: Does anyone, rather?
    Jul 30, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: I do
Jul 30, 2015 7:07 AM - Bill Monroe: and I do it on my RoboR1.jb!
    Jul 30, 2015 7:07 AM - daniel871: Got any use for a Tatsu v2 for a 6mm shaft in trade?
Jul 30, 2015 7:08 AM - Bill Monroe: tatsu... isnt that the little shitbox car they make in India?
    Jul 30, 2015 7:08 AM - daniel871: Hang on and I'll post a link.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:08 AM - jbigler1986: they do yes. i have 2 8mm drive gears

Jul 30, 2015 7:09 AM - daniel871: I got lucky on the price because by the time they were done shipping to me I had four of the things when I only ordered one.
Jul 30, 2015 7:10 AM - daniel871: Apparently they get hammered with orders when they have them in stock.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:10 AM - jbigler1986: let me get a link
    Jul 30, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: http://store.makerstoolworks.com/extruders-and-parts/machined-hob-8mm-bore/
    Jul 30, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: this is where i got mine http://www.tridprinting.com/Mechanical-Parts/
    Jul 30, 2015 7:11 AM - jbigler1986: link isn't working right now though
    Jul 30, 2015 7:12 AM - jbigler1986: the ones from trid were like $4 a piece
Jul 30, 2015 7:12 AM - daniel871: Does that gear fit on the Hercustruder as printed or will I need to dremel it out?
Jul 30, 2015 7:13 AM - daniel871: Wish there was an OD on there.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:14 AM - jbigler1986: i have a modified hercustruder for it. 1 sec
    Jul 30, 2015 7:15 AM - jbigler1986: if it would freaking load
    Jul 30, 2015 7:17 AM - jbigler1986: https://www.dropbox.com/s/mzaycouvujnsu6i/smooth_albar-robo.stl?dl=0
Jul 30, 2015 7:18 AM - jbigler1986: print that and you wont need to do any post processing at all
    Jul 30, 2015 7:19 AM - daniel871: Cool, thanks!
    Jul 30, 2015 7:19 AM - jbigler1986: yw

    Jul 30, 2015 7:21 AM - jbigler1986: i modified it yes
Jul 30, 2015 7:21 AM - Bill Monroe: with SW?

    Jul 30, 2015 7:33 AM - jbigler1986: yeah i was a complete noob then
    Jul 30, 2015 7:37 AM - Bill Monroe: ...ah... I remember then.....

    Jul 30, 2015 7:54 AM - donhuevo: morning kids
Jul 30, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: had a bad failure last night though
Jul 30, 2015 7:55 AM - Bill Monroe: eh, steel guitars without polynesian girl in grass skirts just doesnt cut it :)
Jul 30, 2015 7:55 AM - Mike Kelly: sup don
    Jul 30, 2015 7:55 AM - donhuevo: autcad open
    Jul 30, 2015 7:55 AM - jbigler1986: what failed?
Jul 30, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: part shifted and then the junk caused a temp fall error
Jul 30, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: the piece just doesn't fit very well on the bed
Jul 30, 2015 7:57 AM - Mike Kelly: wish the heater pad was actually 10x9
Jul 30, 2015 7:58 AM - jbigler1986: looks like it time to upgrade it
Jul 30, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: i have an upgraded one
Jul 30, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: though i think i need to put on a new adhesive pad
    Jul 30, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Kelly: it's drooping really bad

    Jul 30, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ultibots.com/24v-kapton-heater-200mm-x-250mm/
Jul 30, 2015 8:00 AM - jbigler1986: oh. someone needs to make a heated bed where the heating element is like inside of it instead of just attached to the bottom

Jul 30, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what those PCB beds are
    Jul 30, 2015 8:01 AM - jbigler1986: ?
    Jul 30, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: http://reprap.org/wiki/PCB_Heatbed
    Jul 30, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: well i guess it's the same
Jul 30, 2015 8:01 AM - Mike Kelly: but more rigidized
    Jul 30, 2015 8:02 AM - jbigler1986: that's better though
    Jul 30, 2015 8:02 AM - Mike Kelly: agreed
Jul 30, 2015 8:06 AM - jbigler1986: i mean like a glass bed with the heater built into it
    Jul 30, 2015 8:08 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jul 30, 2015 8:12 AM - jbigler1986: get on that. would make a lot of money
    Jul 30, 2015 8:14 AM - Mike Kelly: haha
Jul 30, 2015 8:15 AM - Mike Kelly: surprisingly hard to bond things to glass
Jul 30, 2015 8:15 AM - jbigler1986: make it so you can disconnect it as well instead of just from the ramps
    Jul 30, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: sandwiched inbetween to pieces?
Jul 30, 2015 8:16 AM - Mike Kelly: generally better to make a platen with a pcb heater, aluminum spreader, and glass surface
    Jul 30, 2015 8:16 AM - jbigler1986: two*
    Jul 30, 2015 8:16 AM - donhuevo: WERNER
Jul 30, 2015 8:17 AM - jbigler1986: whatever works. start building. i want it to be all in one though
    Jul 30, 2015 8:18 AM - jbigler1986: i will come back when it's complete
Jul 30, 2015 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: side note: you are allowed to use duct tape and super glue
    Jul 30, 2015 8:19 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
Jul 30, 2015 8:26 AM - jim3Dbot: MK, same problem I have had with not able to print, Y=10". What do you think of adding a small strip heater & parrallel thw heat wires. The wattage of heater will need to be determined...
Jul 30, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: if you can find one cheap enough
Jul 30, 2015 8:30 AM - Mike Kelly: heaters are weird, either dirt cheap or crazy expensive
Jul 30, 2015 8:32 AM - jim3Dbot: I will bet there is one out there....stay away from big name heaters like omron...mine pad is short towards the rear...probably not consistant from robo to robo....
    Jul 30, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: i've found these before: http://store.makea3dfactory.com/12v-150w-kapton-bed-heater-200mm-x-275mm/
    Jul 30, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: 150W
Jul 30, 2015 8:33 AM - Mike Kelly: wish it was closer to 9" wide but at least it's plenty long
    Jul 30, 2015 8:35 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.ultibots.com/24v-kapton-heater-240mm-x-310mm/ or this one in 12v
    Jul 30, 2015 8:35 AM - jim3Dbot: I'm thinking much smaller sorry 'bout the imperials...but maybe 2" x 9"...
    Jul 30, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: right
Jul 30, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: you could probably find one on alibaba like that
Jul 30, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: but if you're gonna do that i think it's better to upgrade the whole heater
    Jul 30, 2015 8:37 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Customize-3-7v-5v-7-4v_611655051.html?s=p
    Jul 30, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: i 2nd on ungrading the whole heater
    Jul 30, 2015 8:38 AM - jbigler1986: upgrading*
Jul 30, 2015 8:38 AM - jim3Dbot: Thermal adhesive compound that conducts heat & epoxies at the same time, I use the stuff on alum. 5w LEDs PCBs on alum rail...
Jul 30, 2015 8:39 AM - Blake Benefield: New to all of this guys, thinking about purchasing the Manu refurb unit from Ebay. Any suggestions or tips? Mike Glass suggested "don't use Mattercontrol" lol

Jul 30, 2015 8:40 AM - donhuevo: need to see who's really selling it
    Jul 30, 2015 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: i don't trust any used printer on ebay
Jul 30, 2015 8:40 AM - donhuevo: not unless robo is backing it with a warranty
    Jul 30, 2015 8:40 AM - Blake Benefield: http://www.ebay.com/itm/R1-ROBO-3D-...Refurbished-/252041537884?hash=item3aaed8a95c

Jul 30, 2015 8:43 AM - donhuevo: wonder if they're refurbing with the latest and greatest parts
    Jul 30, 2015 8:44 AM - jim3Dbot: Yep, beat Final value fees & Paypal fees about 15% less to seller...ask 4 a discount...
    Jul 30, 2015 8:45 AM - jim3Dbot: about $70+ to seller
Jul 30, 2015 8:50 AM - Mike Glass: Hey Blake

Jul 30, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: lack of direction
    Jul 30, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: "Let's build a 1 million! No! Let's build a 1.2 Million! No a 1.4 Million! No a 600 thousand!"
Jul 30, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: "Oh whatever just make it look like something!"
Jul 30, 2015 9:41 AM - Mike Kelly: me:
    Jul 30, 2015 9:42 AM - jbigler1986: shitty
Jul 30, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah well when you have a headless horseman running your company
Jul 30, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: can't even put his shirt on the correct way in the morning
Jul 30, 2015 9:53 AM - WheresWaldo: Sounds bad, makes my day seem better though, so thanks for that. All I got going was I just destroyed a 9 hour print just handling it.
Jul 30, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah doesn't help the fact that we're really close to going under
Jul 30, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Kelly: trying to find inventory to sell that my boss is actually willing to part with
Jul 30, 2015 10:01 AM - donhuevo: starting to look like something... [IMG]
Jul 30, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: hey that looks like a thing
Jul 30, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: what kinda fans are you going with?
    Jul 30, 2015 10:02 AM - donhuevo: 3 30's
Jul 30, 2015 10:02 AM - Mike Kelly: are you blowing away from the nozzle?
    Jul 30, 2015 10:02 AM - donhuevo: yes
    Jul 30, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: ... why
    Jul 30, 2015 10:03 AM - donhuevo: because I said so
Jul 30, 2015 10:03 AM - Mike Kelly: ok then
Jul 30, 2015 10:03 AM - donhuevo: better to blow where the nozzle has been than where it always is
Jul 30, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Kelly: why not just have them point straight down
Jul 30, 2015 10:04 AM - donhuevo: been there and on a big flat part, the air disperses at the surface and finds its way back to the nozzle
Jul 30, 2015 10:05 AM - donhuevo: some of it anyway. I've jammed on big flat prints
Jul 30, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Kelly: weren't you going to put a silicone cover on the nozzle
Jul 30, 2015 10:07 AM - donhuevo: that carriage wasn't panning out unfortunately
Jul 30, 2015 10:08 AM - donhuevo: this one is more about the igus bushings and going as lightweight as possible
Jul 30, 2015 10:08 AM - Blake Benefield: MK, were you saying to try to harden the spike in molten salt?
Jul 30, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: lol yeah, it was a joke
Jul 30, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: most people don't want 3k degree salt floating around
Jul 30, 2015 10:09 AM - Blake Benefield: Not a problem for me. The problem with the spikes is the lack of carbon
Jul 30, 2015 10:09 AM - Mike Kelly: along with the other steps down
Jul 30, 2015 10:10 AM - Blake Benefield: Ive used salt to slow cool cast bronze

Jul 30, 2015 11:03 AM - Mike Kelly: he tests the pharmaceuticals
    Jul 30, 2015 11:03 AM - donhuevo: we're QS/1
Jul 30, 2015 11:04 AM - jbigler1986: his mouth is what they use
Jul 30, 2015 11:05 AM - donhuevo: yes, I test the pills. jb tests the dildos
Jul 30, 2015 11:05 AM - Blake Benefield: Wow... not many independents use QS/1 anymore. Mostly that's just RiteAid
    Jul 30, 2015 11:06 AM - jbigler1986: don is the founder of dildo-generator.com
    Jul 30, 2015 11:06 AM - donhuevo: I cannot claim that distinction
Jul 30, 2015 11:06 AM - Blake Benefield: Rx30, ComputerRX, and QuikScrip (Cost Effective) are what we see primarily.
    Jul 30, 2015 11:06 AM - jbigler1986: you know we don't judge around here. so it's ok
Jul 30, 2015 11:06 AM - Blake Benefield: See a few old VIP systems still but we don't do anything with them.

Jul 30, 2015 11:07 AM - Stephen Capistron: I saw dremel is now selling a vacuum powered rotary tool so that is neat. I know there are print your own designs out there too
Jul 30, 2015 11:08 AM - Blake Benefield: You mean like central database?
Jul 30, 2015 11:08 AM - jbigler1986: makerbot sells printers too. we all know how good those are

    Jul 30, 2015 11:09 AM - jbigler1986: except for their printer
Jul 30, 2015 11:10 AM - Blake Benefield: Rx30 does it best from what I've seen. Central site designation allows you to log into any store in the connected chain from any location. You can pull reports from that store, a group of stores etc. Can pivot table the reports within the software to group stores based on RX count, profit margin, etc.
Jul 30, 2015 11:10 AM - Blake Benefield: Central sites software is nifty.
    Jul 30, 2015 11:10 AM - toy: should i get a 5820k or 6700k cpu ?
    Jul 30, 2015 11:11 AM - jbigler1986: use?
Jul 30, 2015 11:11 AM - donhuevo: I could have given my pharmacists the ability to log into other locations but opted not to. The central piece allows them to pull docs, patients, drugs into their location from others
Jul 30, 2015 11:12 AM - toy: stem use for the kids... like 3d scanning, rendering -ish, etc

Jul 30, 2015 12:17 PM - toy: i bet you said the same thing about 720p when it came out...
    Jul 30, 2015 12:18 PM - daniel871: Was 720p even a thing before 1080p was the "High Def" standard?
    Jul 30, 2015 12:18 PM - Mike Kelly: briefly

    Jul 30, 2015 12:20 PM - daniel871: I doubt we'll get that far the way 3D HD is tanking.

Jul 30, 2015 12:20 PM - daniel871: A lot of the local electronics stores are pushing it over 4k on the display models and regretting it.
Jul 30, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Glass: 4k has been around for over a year, 8 K is around the corner after ces probably
Jul 30, 2015 12:21 PM - toy: problem with alot of 4k monitor is they can only go up to 60hz, dont support amd freesync or nvidia equivalent
Jul 30, 2015 12:21 PM - Mike Kelly: i more mean user adoption
Jul 30, 2015 12:22 PM - Mike Glass: Not that I care, You have to have a player for 4k anyways.

Jul 30, 2015 2:59 PM - BryZad: That sounds simple enough
Jul 30, 2015 3:00 PM - Mike Glass: then I messed around with acceleration and jerk, got mine printing at 90mm/s and making quality parts.

    Jul 30, 2015 3:08 PM - Mike Kelly: yeah they're calling it the R1+
Jul 30, 2015 3:08 PM - BryZad: Does that mean I need to buy them now off the sight to get them in a decent time

Jul 30, 2015 6:59 PM - Bill Monroe: Printing some XT.. you?

Jul 30, 2015 7:13 PM - PeterkSharma: Anyone printed with T-glase? I think the people I ordered the filament from sent me the wrong stuff.
Jul 30, 2015 7:17 PM - daniel871: Anyone got a line on better smooth rods for the Y axis? One of them is fine at 7.9-8.1, but the other gets up to 8.5mm in a couple spots and its binding up on the new bearings I put in.
Jul 30, 2015 7:18 PM - daniel871: Or how long those rods should be so I can look for some on Amazon?
Jul 30, 2015 7:21 PM - daniel871: Thermistors all working and nozzles dialed in, then went to home out and the bed was binding up before it got home.
Jul 30, 2015 7:25 PM - Mike Glass: 15.5 inches for the z smooth rods
    Jul 30, 2015 7:26 PM - jim3Dbot: inches, not mm or cm luv'it
Jul 30, 2015 7:27 PM - daniel871: I've printed with T-glase. It prints basically like PET+ temperature-wise, but go 15-20mm/s on speeds instead of the speeds you can get away with on PET+
Jul 30, 2015 7:28 PM - daniel871: Yeah, now I have to do math to figure out the mm everyone else uses on sites that sell them. :p
Jul 30, 2015 7:28 PM - Mike Glass: think they sell in 300mm 400mm and 500mm lengths, I just buy the 1000mm and cut what is needed
    Jul 30, 2015 7:28 PM - daniel871: 396mm if 15.5 is true.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:29 PM - Mike Glass: yup
Jul 30, 2015 7:30 PM - Mike Glass: wonder if that is the the robo file, let me check
Jul 30, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: 376.83mm is what the robo file says, but that is probably the old one that does not reach the top of the case.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:40 PM - daniel871: Y, not Z.
    Jul 30, 2015 7:44 PM - Mike Glass: oh..lol duh
Jul 30, 2015 7:46 PM - Mike Glass: what happened to your rods?
    Jul 30, 2015 7:54 PM - Bill Monroe: back
Jul 30, 2015 7:59 PM - daniel871: I put new lm8uu bearings in and then discovered one of the rods is out of spec on the diameter in a few places.
Jul 30, 2015 8:00 PM - daniel871: Which explains the vibrating on the Y-axis prior to all the mods.

Jul 30, 2015 9:29 PM - Shadow_bullet: hey guys, anyone know how i can change the points for the auto-level?
Jul 30, 2015 9:34 PM - Mike Glass: You can in the firmware
Jul 30, 2015 9:38 PM - Shadow_bullet: yea, i pin pointed the issue i had yesterday (where the bed was trying to go too far - opposide of the switch) to the auto level g29 code, it moves it after it "homes" to some 15 mm where it is supposed to call 0 and from there it tried to go some 15 mm beyond to bed...
Jul 30, 2015 9:40 PM - Mike Glass: what was the issue?
Jul 30, 2015 9:41 PM - Shadow_bullet: my start g code tells it to home, then it says auto level, then it attempts to auto level ( which it does correctly) but on the last 3 it tries to move farther then it should on the Y axis
Jul 30, 2015 9:43 PM - Mike Glass: the endstop should tell it where it is, then use the set code you have in the software for the bed size
Jul 30, 2015 9:47 PM - Mike Glass: have you flashed the firmware
Jul 30, 2015 9:48 PM - Shadow_bullet: from what came from factory? no
Jul 30, 2015 9:52 PM - Mike Glass: so you have not used the newest firmware? you may have some bad code in it then.
    Jul 31, 2015 4:35 AM - jbigler1986: morning
    Jul 31, 2015 4:44 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
    Jul 31, 2015 4:45 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning
    Jul 31, 2015 4:48 AM - Bill Monroe: Justin
    Jul 31, 2015 4:49 AM - Bill Monroe: waldo
    Jul 31, 2015 4:49 AM - Bill Monroe: Jeff
Jul 31, 2015 4:50 AM - jbigler1986: to answer your question Bill. No. Still haven't gotten any stuff yet either. Today should be the day though. Or 1 day this weekend
Jul 31, 2015 4:51 AM - Bill Monroe: I shall keep strong pro-male/single-dad advocate thoughts for you
Jul 31, 2015 4:52 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill, did you remember where you parked your bicycle?
Jul 31, 2015 4:53 AM - Bill Monroe: naw, I just bought another one :)
    Jul 31, 2015 4:54 AM - jbigler1986: that's the perfect solution
Jul 31, 2015 4:54 AM - Bill Monroe: this one harkens back to the 60's style "stingray"
Jul 31, 2015 4:55 AM - WheresWaldo: Sissy bar and banana seat!
Jul 31, 2015 4:55 AM - Bill Monroe: with ribbon tassles on the handgrips!
    Jul 31, 2015 4:56 AM - JeffTheMess: ^Boom!
Jul 31, 2015 4:57 AM - Bill Monroe: I've upgraded it with the extra-wide square slick rear tire
Jul 31, 2015 4:57 AM - WheresWaldo: Baseball card in the spokes too?
Jul 31, 2015 4:58 AM - Bill Monroe: oh hell no.. got a plastic motor cycle engine with vroom-vroom sound effects
Jul 31, 2015 4:59 AM - JeffTheMess: ugh...internet so shitty at my job right now!
Jul 31, 2015 4:59 AM - Bill Monroe: that bites
Jul 31, 2015 4:59 AM - JeffTheMess: screw work I want to watch my printer
Jul 31, 2015 5:01 AM - WheresWaldo: Watching a printer? Isn't that kinda like watching water boil?
Jul 31, 2015 5:01 AM - Bill Monroe: no, it's like watching a flower bloom
Jul 31, 2015 5:02 AM - WheresWaldo: My printer must be much slower than yours.
Jul 31, 2015 5:02 AM - JeffTheMess: well I don't stare at it 24/7 just check up on it once an hour or so....you would too with a faulty power supply
Jul 31, 2015 5:02 AM - Bill Monroe: unless you're printing in XT, then it's like watching meatloaf grow mold
    Jul 31, 2015 5:02 AM - jbigler1986: hate you all
Jul 31, 2015 5:03 AM - WheresWaldo: I am stuck watching my printer for most of the day today, but not actually printing anything. Have to watch it auto-bed-level over and over to help the devs debug their code.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:04 AM - JeffTheMess: sound exciting
    Jul 31, 2015 5:04 AM - Bill Monroe: beating a dead horse
Jul 31, 2015 5:04 AM - Bill Monroe: "never fix a hardware issue with software"
    Jul 31, 2015 5:04 AM - jbigler1986: the autolevel code isn't the problem. it's the hardware
Jul 31, 2015 5:04 AM - WheresWaldo: I can barely contain my excitement. Bill, they are trying.
Jul 31, 2015 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: software weenies
Jul 31, 2015 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: you wanna succeed in automation? learn software AND hardware
Jul 31, 2015 5:05 AM - JeffTheMess: hardware guy:its ur fault software guy! software guy: its your fault hardware guy!
    Jul 31, 2015 5:05 AM - Bill Monroe: precisely
Jul 31, 2015 5:06 AM - WheresWaldo: Well Marlin devs are stuck with 1000 different variations on a theme, since every manufacturer has their own idea of how hardware should work. It's not like the Robo guys actually contributed anything back to the Marlin project either.
Jul 31, 2015 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: weak hardware design + convoluted and bloated firmware = every reprap in existence
Jul 31, 2015 5:07 AM - WheresWaldo: That is why I am building a Smoothie based printer as my second.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:08 AM - jbigler1986: i'm building a play-doh printer. i win
Jul 31, 2015 5:08 AM - Bill Monroe: im jealous
    Jul 31, 2015 5:08 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Jul 31, 2015 5:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't they already have that. [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 5:10 AM - JeffTheMess: jb will make it better
Jul 31, 2015 5:10 AM - jbigler1986: oh no. the printer is built out of play-doh. jeeze
    Jul 31, 2015 5:11 AM - JeffTheMess: (like i said better)
    Jul 31, 2015 5:11 AM - jbigler1986: jb weld/foil hotend. perfect
    Jul 31, 2015 5:11 AM - WheresWaldo: Don't disparage JB Weld.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:12 AM - Bill Monroe: JBigler..JB weld? coincidence?
    Jul 31, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: nooooooooooooooo.......
    Jul 31, 2015 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: maybe....

Jul 31, 2015 5:21 AM - JeffTheMess: you'll be the king of the road
Jul 31, 2015 5:24 AM - Bill Monroe: ♫ Get your motor running... ♫ Head out on the highway... ♫
Jul 31, 2015 5:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Didn't need an engineer to tell me two riders are better than one.
Jul 31, 2015 5:31 AM - Bill Monroe: you like gayodrome racing Waldo?
Jul 31, 2015 5:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill, I was thinking more, of Man of means by no means, King of the Road.
Jul 31, 2015 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: ah.. Roger Miller ... coolness personified
Jul 31, 2015 5:32 AM - WheresWaldo: I do not do track racing, but I do own a tandem.
Jul 31, 2015 5:32 AM - Bill Monroe: but that tune is all about being a bum.. i was looing for the "born to be wild" vibe
Jul 31, 2015 5:33 AM - WheresWaldo: I see your point, but there is no denying, you would be King of the Road.
Jul 31, 2015 5:34 AM - Bill Monroe: that, or candidate for a hood ornament :)
Jul 31, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: ok, another XT try has begun
Jul 31, 2015 5:35 AM - WheresWaldo: Either of those two tunes would be better than what stuck in my head a few years ago on a training ride up the Saluda grade. ... Fergie, Big Girls Don't Cry. :(
Jul 31, 2015 5:35 AM - Bill Monroe: oh man, Fergie
    Jul 31, 2015 5:35 AM - JeffTheMess: hahaa
Jul 31, 2015 5:36 AM - Bill Monroe: I can still see her undulating on that pedestal whilst singing back up to Jaggar
Jul 31, 2015 5:36 AM - WheresWaldo: It sucked, the whole eight miles all I could think about was that song, or the pain I was in, the song seemed like a better choice at the time.
Jul 31, 2015 5:37 AM - WheresWaldo: My daughter though it was hilarious.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:39 AM - Bill Monroe: .. must see
Jul 31, 2015 5:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Josh Duhamel is one lucky man.
Jul 31, 2015 5:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Good video, but I have to admit I am not much of a Bono fan.
Jul 31, 2015 5:45 AM - Bill Monroe: Bono and the whole band are one of the best backup groups in existance.. they're own music is generally hohum, but their instrumental skills, work ethos, and public service efforts are superior
Jul 31, 2015 5:48 AM - Bill Monroe: their work to support the 9/11 recovery was stunning, and they're not even from this country.
Jul 31, 2015 5:49 AM - WheresWaldo: I agree about their humanitarian work, just not a U2 fan. My musical tastes run more eclectic and less mainstream. The only thing that instantly gives me a headache is Death Metal and twangy Country. I am annoyed at the Rap scene since they all seem to want to remind me of who they are by repeating their own names over and over and think that is the same as writing lyrics. I do love Eminem.
Jul 31, 2015 5:50 AM - Bill Monroe: Rap Music is an oxymoron
Jul 31, 2015 5:51 AM - Bill Monroe: It also great fun to point out the first successful rap "artist" was white :)
Jul 31, 2015 5:51 AM - daniel871: Nobody in NWA was white, Bill.
Jul 31, 2015 5:52 AM - Bill Monroe: I said first.. not popular
Jul 31, 2015 5:52 AM - WheresWaldo: But anything from ABBA to ZZTop, A Flock of Seagulls to Young the Giant, Walter Becker to Arlo Guthrie.
Jul 31, 2015 5:52 AM - daniel871: Unless you were counting Aerosmith in that.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:54 AM - Bill Monroe:
Jul 31, 2015 5:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen was not the first.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:56 AM - WheresWaldo:
Jul 31, 2015 5:57 AM - Bill Monroe: eh, I always considered those more of a "chant"
Jul 31, 2015 5:58 AM - WheresWaldo: A lot of people credit King TIM III was the first to put a rap on vinyl, they do predate Sugar Hill Gang.
Jul 31, 2015 5:59 AM - daniel871: Yeah, was about to mention that one.

    Jul 31, 2015 5:59 AM - daniel871: With youtube link.
Jul 31, 2015 5:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Hey daniel, when I posted the IGUS clone didn't I mention the Robo rails were all over the place with regard to dimensions?
Jul 31, 2015 5:59 AM - daniel871: Of course, that's talking about commercial radio airing.
Jul 31, 2015 6:00 AM - daniel871: Yeah, that's why I was asking about a good place to find replacement rails.
Jul 31, 2015 6:01 AM - daniel871: Don't really have good tooling for cutting hardened stainless in anything like a clean cut.
Jul 31, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: 'm considering putting drawer slides on mine :)
    Jul 31, 2015 6:01 AM - daniel871: Not cheap slides, I hope.
Jul 31, 2015 6:01 AM - Bill Monroe: oh hell no.
Jul 31, 2015 6:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill, do you listen to stuff like Steely Dan, Donald Fagen, Walter Becker?
Jul 31, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: these are slides we spec'd for use in hospital narc vaults.. every bit as tight as thompson rod systems
Jul 31, 2015 6:02 AM - Bill Monroe: sure.. saw them in Coachella
Jul 31, 2015 6:03 AM - daniel871: I may just take the IGUS off on the right side and run a letter P drill thru it.
Jul 31, 2015 6:03 AM - Bill Monroe: daniel is gunna P on his IGUS
    Jul 31, 2015 6:04 AM - daniel871: About 8.3mm instead of 8mm, Bill.
Jul 31, 2015 6:04 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, more slop! that'll show it who'd boss
Jul 31, 2015 6:04 AM - daniel871: The rod is thicker on the right than on the left, Bill.
    Jul 31, 2015 6:05 AM - Bill Monroe: that's a little too personal
Jul 31, 2015 6:07 AM - Bill Monroe: I just noticed the latest google earth pics of my area have all the cars that were in motion removed
Jul 31, 2015 6:08 AM - Bill Monroe: makes it look like the city is abandoned
    Jul 31, 2015 6:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan look here: http://www.mcmaster.com/#hardened-shafts/=yahxkb
Jul 31, 2015 6:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Much tighter tolerances that whatever Chinese shaft Robo gave us.
    Jul 31, 2015 6:10 AM - WheresWaldo: Pun intended.

    Jul 31, 2015 6:25 AM - Bill Monroe: http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2015...drones-interfering-with-firefighting-efforts/
Jul 31, 2015 6:27 AM - WheresWaldo: Bill that story is like 10 days old. I am a multi-rotor flyer and I say shoot them down when they interfere with any essential services.
Jul 31, 2015 6:27 AM - Bill Monroe: i'm am too, and I'm with ya
Jul 31, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: i say shoo them down when the violate any AMA rule
Jul 31, 2015 6:28 AM - Bill Monroe: then, fine the owner until his testicles ache
Jul 31, 2015 6:28 AM - WheresWaldo: I try never to use the word Drone, A drone is a Bee not a multi-rotor aircraft.
Jul 31, 2015 6:29 AM - WheresWaldo: We have idiots that fly them near airports.
Jul 31, 2015 6:29 AM - Bill Monroe: i wont tell you that I have a transmitter that can scramble the signals
Jul 31, 2015 6:30 AM - WheresWaldo: Even the frequency hopping RC gear?
Jul 31, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: we had a guy that was flying a real expensive rig with and HD camera alongside the runway as planes were landing
    Jul 31, 2015 6:30 AM - Bill Monroe: yup..
Jul 31, 2015 6:31 AM - WheresWaldo: Some peoples children.
Jul 31, 2015 6:31 AM - Bill Monroe: dont piss off a plane owner with an amature extra FCC license with your hobby toy
Jul 31, 2015 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, the guy wasnt even on the airport grounds since he didnt know the gate code
    Jul 31, 2015 6:32 AM - WheresWaldo: I fly with a gimbaled GoPro on a 6 rotor 680 mm sized craft.
Jul 31, 2015 6:32 AM - Bill Monroe: so, when it came down, I got myself a little bonus of high-end components
Jul 31, 2015 6:32 AM - daniel871: If I knew I wouldn't get sued for it, I'd shoot down the RC drones some guy keeps flying around over where I live on the weekends.
Jul 31, 2015 6:32 AM - daniel871: We're talking "just over the tree tops, high speed" stuff.
Jul 31, 2015 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: the sops in my town quit selling FPV stuff, becuase it was universally used illegally
    Jul 31, 2015 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: shops
Jul 31, 2015 6:33 AM - daniel871: "high speed" meaning "faster than I would do it if I put that much money in a toy".
Jul 31, 2015 6:34 AM - WheresWaldo: There are places in nearly every city you can fly safely, although a lot of old geezers at the RC airfields don't like multi-rotor crafts, 'if it don't have wings, get that shit away from me."
Jul 31, 2015 6:34 AM - Bill Monroe: ya well, there's always those types
Jul 31, 2015 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: gotta respect their desire to enjoy themselves too
Jul 31, 2015 6:35 AM - daniel871: Sorry, I've been referring to anything without an on-board pilot as a drone.
Jul 31, 2015 6:35 AM - daniel871: The ones I'm talking about are like scaled biplane models.
Jul 31, 2015 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: there's a website that will depict all the legal places to fly where you are, from an airspace perspective
    Jul 31, 2015 6:36 AM - jbigler1986: i saw a really nice biplane this morning
Jul 31, 2015 6:36 AM - Bill Monroe: but it cant consider the people below
Jul 31, 2015 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: Most winged RC aircraft are not set up to be autonomous, the pilot is always in control or you crash. I can actually set up a flight plan with waypoints and then once in the air execute the flight plan without any more intervention from me.
    Jul 31, 2015 6:37 AM - Bill Monroe: that's a violation :)
Jul 31, 2015 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: I can override at any time, but yes it is.
    Jul 31, 2015 6:38 AM - jbigler1986: yeah drones with gps ftw
Jul 31, 2015 6:38 AM - Bill Monroe: i only fly my serious one in Joshua Tree
Jul 31, 2015 6:39 AM - Bill Monroe: but even out in the middle of BFE, I have to be careful.. it's illegal (as in against an actual law) to fly within a national park
Jul 31, 2015 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: GPS and flight controller, accelerometers, altimeters, etc.
Jul 31, 2015 6:40 AM - Bill Monroe: ive been watching as these guys are developing a controller that will prevent going into illegal areas
Jul 31, 2015 6:42 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah DFI is working on one. I also think there are plans for MissionPlanner and the 3DR guys to add that functionality.
Jul 31, 2015 6:42 AM - Bill Monroe: i wish them luck.. that'll be a hard nut to crack
Jul 31, 2015 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: DJI, (no editing sucks)
Jul 31, 2015 6:44 AM - WheresWaldo: I am pretty sure they are only starting with airports, which are well documented, then it will move from there to other venues (arenas, stadiums and such).
Jul 31, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: database maintenance is going to be their weakpoint
    Jul 31, 2015 6:45 AM - Bill Monroe: I think
Jul 31, 2015 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: I sure hope they have data sharing agreements with the agencies that keep track of such things.
Jul 31, 2015 6:46 AM - Bill Monroe: one outlined a plan to "phone-home" over wifi everytime it's powered up to get the latest data.. that has possibilities
Jul 31, 2015 6:47 AM - Bill Monroe: but they also plan to make it possible for home and proprty owners to list themselves as no-fly zones.. that'll be interesting to watch
Jul 31, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: they're thinking the outrage will get to a point that the feds just put a blanket order grounding everyone
Jul 31, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: especially if one brings down a plane
Jul 31, 2015 6:48 AM - Bill Monroe: and that they'll be able to get a variance with their gadget
Jul 31, 2015 6:51 AM - Bill Monroe: i think they planned on pulling from multiple sources...
Jul 31, 2015 6:54 AM - WheresWaldo: I have never seen the appeal of watching an expensive toy fly completely out of sight and then only hoping it will return, and I don't do FPV, although I did build a ground station capable of that. So I mostly fly in my soccer field sized open area and see what I can make the multi-rotor do.
Jul 31, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: there ya go
Jul 31, 2015 6:54 AM - Bill Monroe: nothing wrong with that
    Jul 31, 2015 6:55 AM - Bill Monroe: unless there's a soccer game going on :)
Jul 31, 2015 6:55 AM - WheresWaldo: To be honest, If I want to see more of the countryside, I take my bicycle instead, I don't really like watching scenery go by on a GoPro.
Jul 31, 2015 6:56 AM - Bill Monroe: heh really, I get more enjoyment out of buzzing around the lab with an estes micro than the big guy
Jul 31, 2015 6:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Our field is not regulation sized, so no organization wants to use it, besides the contractor did not build it flat and it doesn't drain well.
    Jul 31, 2015 6:59 AM - WheresWaldo: I use one of these indoors: http://www.banggood.com/HISKY-HFP80...s-Gyro-RC-HeliRadio-Adapter-HT8-p-930551.html
Jul 31, 2015 7:00 AM - WheresWaldo: Well to be honest, I mostly crash said copter.
    Jul 31, 2015 7:00 AM - Bill Monroe: :)
Jul 31, 2015 7:33 AM - Mike Glass: I read that drones are treated like planes, if you shoot one down its a federal crime?
    Jul 31, 2015 7:35 AM - Mike Kelly: morning
Jul 31, 2015 7:35 AM - Mike Glass: morning Mike
Jul 31, 2015 7:36 AM - Bill Monroe: US government drones, yes.. local owned toys, no
Jul 31, 2015 7:36 AM - Bill Monroe: planes are federal becuase they're federally regulated
Jul 31, 2015 7:38 AM - Mike Glass: No they said "ANY"
Jul 31, 2015 7:38 AM - Bill Monroe: well "they" are misinformed
Jul 31, 2015 7:39 AM - Bill Monroe: note that all of the recent stories, they're punishments are dealt by local-ish authorities
    Jul 31, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: lol
    Jul 31, 2015 7:39 AM - jbigler1986: morning MK
Jul 31, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: usually called "willfull destruction of provate property" or "illegal discharge of a firearm"

Jul 31, 2015 7:40 AM - Bill Monroe: or soemthing of that ilk
Jul 31, 2015 7:41 AM - Blake Benefield: surprisingly you can pilot another drone into said drone and then it's a mid air collision though.
Jul 31, 2015 7:41 AM - Blake Benefield: laser guided drones anyone?

Jul 31, 2015 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: that reg applies only to registered aircraft.. not hobby drones
Jul 31, 2015 7:42 AM - Bill Monroe: hell, guys have been making cheapo RC planes soley to shoot them down like a skeet target for years..
Jul 31, 2015 7:43 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, it's a midair collision alright.. same as when a pitcher takes out a seagull

Jul 31, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Glass: 100MPH ball bid killer, awesome
Jul 31, 2015 7:49 AM - Mike Glass: or bird even

    Jul 31, 2015 7:56 AM - Aaron Mitchell: $179
Jul 31, 2015 7:56 AM - Bill Monroe: pretty, but I hate those corner blocks

Jul 31, 2015 7:58 AM - Mike Glass: yep, I need to make a better filament guide though.
Jul 31, 2015 7:59 AM - Blake Benefield: Bowden? or you mean from the spool?
Jul 31, 2015 7:59 AM - jbigler1986: wonder how fast they can get it shipped
Jul 31, 2015 7:59 AM - Bill Monroe: I like these.. more work to install, but the result is practically as strong as welding : http://www.mscdirect.com/product/de...gle-PLA+-+Test&CS_003=7867724&CS_010=65922064
Jul 31, 2015 7:59 AM - Mike Glass: just from the spool.
Jul 31, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: I agree Bill those are ugly
Jul 31, 2015 8:00 AM - Aaron Mitchell: They are only shipping direct from China at the moment, JB..so I figure a couple weeks out...
    Jul 31, 2015 8:00 AM - Mike Glass: $9.21 a piece, yikes
Jul 31, 2015 8:01 AM - Blake Benefield: make it
Jul 31, 2015 8:01 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, but damn, the result is amazing
Jul 31, 2015 8:02 AM - Aaron Mitchell: I put yp the link for the 230V version, but there is a 110v version as well...
Jul 31, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: and they practically dissappear when installed
Jul 31, 2015 8:02 AM - Bill Monroe: you really need a mill to use them though a well-made drill press fixture will do

    Jul 31, 2015 8:06 AM - donhuevo: MfnG!
Jul 31, 2015 8:07 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Typically, once the Kickstarter closes successfully, MG.
Jul 31, 2015 8:07 AM - Mike Glass: I was hoping when it ships.
Jul 31, 2015 8:08 AM - donhuevo: worried about your Tiko money?
Jul 31, 2015 8:08 AM - Aaron Mitchell: The kickstarter funds are typically used to put the product together in order to get it shipped...
Jul 31, 2015 8:09 AM - Aaron Mitchell: (I am saying most - not all)...
Jul 31, 2015 8:09 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, and a few others
Jul 31, 2015 8:10 AM - Aaron Mitchell: JB...have you used the Printrbot Play? I am looking to get 3-4 printers for my classroom this fall...Looking at a couple of Robo's but I would like some different machines for the kids to learn on...a delta perhaps, and one that prints faster than 60mm/s
Jul 31, 2015 8:10 AM - donhuevo: should I do a kickstarter for this? [IMG]
    Jul 31, 2015 8:10 AM - Mike Glass: saweet
    Jul 31, 2015 8:11 AM - Aaron Mitchell: pretty...are those nylon bearings?
Jul 31, 2015 8:11 AM - donhuevo: igus yes. once finished this should do 150 easy

Jul 31, 2015 8:20 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Bad certs on those sites, Blake
Jul 31, 2015 8:21 AM - Aaron Mitchell: Guess they couldn't pay for proper security certs on their website either..

    Jul 31, 2015 8:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah for a deal
    Jul 31, 2015 8:38 AM - donhuevo: thanks miguel
Jul 31, 2015 8:39 AM - donhuevo: slight learning cure with these bushings but getting there
Jul 31, 2015 8:40 AM - jbigler1986: sample unit for PS. so should be able to get a good deal/free
    Jul 31, 2015 8:43 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah that's the perspective
    Jul 31, 2015 8:50 AM - jbigler1986: getting anywhere with it?
    Jul 31, 2015 8:51 AM - donhuevo: me?
Jul 31, 2015 8:51 AM - jbigler1986: no MK. where are your fans don
Jul 31, 2015 8:52 AM - donhuevo: safe and sound in a little drawer
Jul 31, 2015 8:52 AM - donhuevo: this was just a mockup to see how it slides on the rods
Jul 31, 2015 8:53 AM - Blake Benefield: I've sort of been wondering. why do none of the printers use a top or bottom pillow block on the drive shafts?
Jul 31, 2015 8:53 AM - Blake Benefield: seems like it would keep it more stable
Jul 31, 2015 8:53 AM - Printed Solid: it makes it overconstrained.
Jul 31, 2015 8:53 AM - Printed Solid: the rods are for stability.
Jul 31, 2015 8:54 AM - Printed Solid: drive shaft should be able to float, but robo didn't do it that way.
Jul 31, 2015 8:54 AM - Blake Benefield: ok, so basically since the rods are extra and have slide bushings theres no need. gotcha
Jul 31, 2015 8:58 AM - Mike Glass: Bearings, not bushings, nobody in their right mind uses bushings.:)
Jul 31, 2015 8:59 AM - donhuevo: and you think I've shown any reason for you to think I AM in my right mind?
Jul 31, 2015 8:59 AM - Mike Glass: haha no
Jul 31, 2015 9:00 AM - donhuevo: so bushings it is
Jul 31, 2015 9:00 AM - donhuevo: the closest igus linear bearing to an lm8uu is almost $5 ea
    Jul 31, 2015 9:01 AM - donhuevo: and it's 25 long with a 16 dia not 24 & 15
    Jul 31, 2015 9:02 AM - Mike Kelly: http://imgur.com/gallery/BJO9FAs
Jul 31, 2015 9:04 AM - Mike Glass: so do they move nice and smooth?
Jul 31, 2015 9:06 AM - donhuevo: they do when I squeeze the rods together slightly. stock x rods are 83mm apart. by my calculations, I need to space my bearing holes at 83.4mm. my clamps move them toward the center
    Jul 31, 2015 9:06 AM - donhuevo: learning curve
Jul 31, 2015 9:07 AM - Mike Glass: Yep, lets see if you can get to revision 28..lol
Jul 31, 2015 9:08 AM - donhuevo: I don't see why I shouldn't try and eliminate all the lm8uu's. down to the y pillow blocks
Jul 31, 2015 9:09 AM - Mike Glass: You would never have a bearing failure, thats for sure.
Jul 31, 2015 9:09 AM - donhuevo: if a bushing wears out, the disassembly would be the same anyway
Jul 31, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: mostly bushings are just annoying to get aligned
Jul 31, 2015 9:10 AM - Mike Kelly: but if you're willing to do that all the better
Jul 31, 2015 9:10 AM - donhuevo: I'm still thinking about being able to not only use a smooth rod for linear motion but also be using it rotationally too
    Jul 31, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: because I'm an idiot
    Jul 31, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: like the ultimaker/eustathios design?
    Jul 31, 2015 9:11 AM - donhuevo: yep
Jul 31, 2015 9:11 AM - Mike Kelly: that's the way to do it with bushing
Jul 31, 2015 9:12 AM - donhuevo: I would walk away from core xy for that
Jul 31, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Glass: how does eustathios use rotation in there design?
Jul 31, 2015 9:15 AM - Blake Benefield: I would think if you're designing the carriage yourself a linear bearing inside a bushing would be nice. Help seal out dust.
Jul 31, 2015 9:15 AM - Mike Kelly: the perimeter rods rotate to translate motion
Jul 31, 2015 9:15 AM - Blake Benefield: no idea on how their linear bearings are but I've used VXB bearings on my 2x72 grinders for years
Jul 31, 2015 9:15 AM - donhuevo: these igus plastics are actually supposed to like dirt
Jul 31, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Glass: Yea, just looked at the build for it, doh
    Jul 31, 2015 9:16 AM - Mike Kelly: heh
Jul 31, 2015 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: how does that work with those bearings, or are they special bearings?
    Jul 31, 2015 9:17 AM - donhuevo: I think those are sitting in 608zz's
Jul 31, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: yes on the ends, but not where it holding the x y rods
Jul 31, 2015 9:18 AM - Mike Glass: unless Im missing something
    Jul 31, 2015 9:18 AM - donhuevo: no, you're right
Jul 31, 2015 9:23 AM - Mike Glass: this is what they are using for those that are rotational http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2pcs-LM10LUU-10mm-Long-Linear-Motion-Bearing-Ball-Bush/514938216.html
    Jul 31, 2015 9:23 AM - jbigler1986: for the zmorph
Jul 31, 2015 9:25 AM - Mike Kelly: it uses bushing
    Jul 31, 2015 9:26 AM - jbigler1986: that thing is awesome
    Jul 31, 2015 9:27 AM - Mike Kelly:
Jul 31, 2015 9:29 AM - Mike Glass: There is no bushings in the BOM
Jul 31, 2015 9:31 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah it does
Jul 31, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i would agree with his review
Jul 31, 2015 9:32 AM - Mike Kelly: if a spring hinge gets you to 95% the bondtech v2 gets you to 99%
Jul 31, 2015 9:34 AM - Mike Glass: What I posted is the only bushing on the bom, I thought it looks more like a bearing, but guess it says bushing.

Jul 31, 2015 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: i saw it won't take long befor others make drive gears like the bondtech
    Jul 31, 2015 9:39 AM - jbigler1986: say*
    Jul 31, 2015 9:39 AM - donhuevo: bamnit
Jul 31, 2015 9:40 AM - Mike Kelly: i would think so too
Jul 31, 2015 9:40 AM - donhuevo: China is already making a "Chimera"
Jul 31, 2015 9:42 AM - Mike Kelly: they love stealing from E3D
Jul 31, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Glass: That 5 axis owns, that would be a fun project.
    Jul 31, 2015 9:43 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah
Jul 31, 2015 9:49 AM - Mike Glass: ok thanks for clearing that up. I see them now. [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 9:51 AM - Mike Glass: Oil-Impregnated Sintered Bronze, looks like they also have a 5 degree adjustment as well.
Jul 31, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Glass: or Self aligning is a better term
    Jul 31, 2015 9:53 AM - Mike Kelly: yes
Jul 31, 2015 9:54 AM - Mike Glass: wonder what the life of those would be.
Jul 31, 2015 9:54 AM - Blake Benefield: Bronze on hardened steel?
    Jul 31, 2015 9:54 AM - Aaron Mitchell: 6-axis:
Jul 31, 2015 9:55 AM - Mike Kelly: also fun
Jul 31, 2015 9:56 AM - Blake Benefield: haven't watched the video but bronze conducts a lot of heat man.
Jul 31, 2015 9:56 AM - Blake Benefield: I would think you may have to keep the printer relatively slow to prevent heating. It's hard, but when it gets hot, its brittle
Jul 31, 2015 9:56 AM - Mike Glass: not sure if the sintered bronze takes care of that issue.
Jul 31, 2015 9:57 AM - Mike Glass: its what they put in manufacutured printers and scanners though.
Jul 31, 2015 9:58 AM - Mike Glass: and printers get really hot
Jul 31, 2015 9:59 AM - Blake Benefield: if its just rotation its np. they're great
Jul 31, 2015 9:59 AM - Blake Benefield: if it'
Jul 31, 2015 9:59 AM - Blake Benefield: s linear then I would say no
Jul 31, 2015 10:01 AM - Blake Benefield: have to remember you have to occasionally re-oil them too
    Jul 31, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: ^
Jul 31, 2015 10:01 AM - Mike Kelly: if you maintain them they should last as long or longer than linear bearings
Jul 31, 2015 10:02 AM - Blake Benefield: they can, but there's no true bearing. They wear the shaft a lot more too
Jul 31, 2015 10:02 AM - Blake Benefield: have to remember its basically bronze spheres that have been pressed
Jul 31, 2015 10:03 AM - Blake Benefield: typically not good with anything that uses a lot of start stop man.
Jul 31, 2015 10:04 AM - Blake Benefield: a/c units, conveyers, even belt driven grinders

Jul 31, 2015 10:04 AM - Mike Glass: I would think an igus bushing would be better, IMO
Jul 31, 2015 10:05 AM - Blake Benefield: ball is preferred unless the application is super dirty
Jul 31, 2015 10:06 AM - Mike Kelly: or you have rotation and linear motion
Jul 31, 2015 10:07 AM - Mike Glass: rotation and linear motion, as a bearing is horrible if you rotation on a rod, not good.
Jul 31, 2015 10:07 AM - Blake Benefield: yeah, pretty much gonna have to hope for the best then lol
Jul 31, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: bronze bearings are fine and tested
    Jul 31, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: they're pretty popular in 3d printers
Jul 31, 2015 10:08 AM - Mike Kelly: only real reason to use igus is if you want to decrease the noise even further
Jul 31, 2015 10:09 AM - Blake Benefield: I just know I've seen sintered blocks fail because there wasn't ENOUGH heat generated
Jul 31, 2015 10:09 AM - Blake Benefield: anyway, lunch time! bbl
Jul 31, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Glass: So BigBox looks promising, but not sure about the Plexi frame.
Jul 31, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: That's what most people are complaining about
    Jul 31, 2015 10:11 AM - Mike Kelly: I don't have a big problem with it really
    Jul 31, 2015 10:12 AM - Printed Solid: I trust them.
Jul 31, 2015 10:12 AM - Printed Solid: I'm guessing that most of the people complaining don't actually know anything about materials. I know the E3D team does.
Jul 31, 2015 10:12 AM - Mike Glass: You think they will go through
Jul 31, 2015 10:12 AM - Printed Solid: go through what?
Jul 31, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: they're not buying cheap run of the mill plexi
Jul 31, 2015 10:13 AM - Mike Kelly: and all the flashforges of the world just have a plex frame
Jul 31, 2015 10:13 AM - Printed Solid: right. I mean, if we used standard grade casting aluminum on planes, they'd all fall out of the sky.
Jul 31, 2015 10:13 AM - Printed Solid: the flashforges don't have an acrylic frame.
    Jul 31, 2015 10:13 AM - Bill Monroe:
Jul 31, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Kelly: i didn't think the replicator had an internal frame
    Jul 31, 2015 10:14 AM - Printed Solid: yup
Jul 31, 2015 10:14 AM - Printed Solid: the plastic parts are just panels.
Jul 31, 2015 10:14 AM - Mike Glass: Well the plexi is an option, you have to pay for the plexi upgrade
Jul 31, 2015 10:14 AM - Printed Solid: flashforge isn't an exact clone anyways.
Jul 31, 2015 10:15 AM - Printed Solid: right, and my wood frame Ultimaker is my best printer by far.
Jul 31, 2015 10:15 AM - Printed Solid: I'll be getting the plexi because it shows better at events, but for personal use I would be doing wood.
    Jul 31, 2015 10:15 AM - Mike Glass: Being a wood person, I prefer plexi..lol
Jul 31, 2015 10:16 AM - Bill Monroe: I'm making mine from "standard Grade aluminum castings" as soon as I find out what that is :)
    Jul 31, 2015 10:17 AM - bamhm182: Hey all
Jul 31, 2015 10:18 AM - bamhm182: Got my new Mega 2560 in and uploaded the firmware. Also got my new drivers
    Jul 31, 2015 10:18 AM - donhuevo: gob bamnit
Jul 31, 2015 10:18 AM - bamhm182: Hopefully this time I can do a better job at not being 100% retarded
Jul 31, 2015 10:18 AM - Mike Kelly: nice bam
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: oh so the flashforge is more like the replicator 2, with an internal sub frame
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - bamhm182: Also, turns out that the Sainsmart 2-in-1 doesn't fit the footprint of the mega. Not sure how I was thinking the screw holes would match up
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Glass: make sure you have the right jumpers installed this time bam
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Printed Solid: the 2x has the subframe as well.
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Printed Solid: go look at yours.
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - bamhm182: I think I'm going to toss the new Mega in the printer, print out a brace for the new one, then swap them
    Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: that's what i'm saying
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Mike Kelly: it's got the metal frame
Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - bamhm182: Or maybe I'll just leave well enough alone once I get it working
    Jul 31, 2015 10:19 AM - Printed Solid: yes
Jul 31, 2015 10:20 AM - Printed Solid: with plastic panels on it.
Jul 31, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: but i believe the replicator original just uses wood to support the mechanics
    Jul 31, 2015 10:20 AM - Printed Solid: correct.
Jul 31, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: i assumed the flashforge clones used the original replicator design, but what you're saying is they use the 2
Jul 31, 2015 10:20 AM - Mike Kelly: is it a metal subframe?
Jul 31, 2015 10:20 AM - Printed Solid: the flashforge creator is basically the replicator 1 with a wood frame.
    Jul 31, 2015 10:21 AM - Printed Solid: the pro is a replicator 1 with a housing / frame more like a rep 2 / 2x
Jul 31, 2015 10:21 AM - Printed Solid: so, not quite a clone of the rep 2/2x.
    Jul 31, 2015 10:21 AM - Mike Kelly: ah
Jul 31, 2015 10:21 AM - bamhm182: Also, don, just to answer the question that I asked you the other night about the RX/TX lights. If it's not broken, they're both supposed to be off unless something is writing/reading to/from it
Jul 31, 2015 10:22 AM - Printed Solid: build plate / stage is different between them as well.
Jul 31, 2015 10:22 AM - donhuevo: gotcha bam. good to know
Jul 31, 2015 10:22 AM - Mike Kelly: is the flashforge pro open sourced?
Jul 31, 2015 10:23 AM - bamhm182: Anyways, gotta get ready for work, just wanted to pop in
Jul 31, 2015 10:23 AM - Printed Solid: I don't think they have plans published. It uses the mighty board.
Jul 31, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Glass: well its between tiko and BigBox, not sure what to get
    Jul 31, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: lol
    Jul 31, 2015 10:26 AM - donhuevo: tiko. a no-brainer
Jul 31, 2015 10:26 AM - Mike Kelly: i think i'm gonna add tiko to the davinci "buy this and you're banned" list
Jul 31, 2015 10:27 AM - donhuevo: you're only going to encourage staying in the closet with their tiko
    Jul 31, 2015 10:27 AM - donhuevo: damn tikophobe
Jul 31, 2015 10:27 AM - Mike Kelly: just like where it'll end up when it breaks right away :)
Jul 31, 2015 10:28 AM - donhuevo: if I wasn't up to my eyeballs, I'd superimpose the gay pride colors over a tiko pic
Jul 31, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Kelly: just use facebooks thing
    Jul 31, 2015 10:29 AM - Mike Glass: lol
    Jul 31, 2015 10:33 AM - Mike Kelly: https://plus.google.com/u/1/+JasonClark/posts/fKPp2dKjE6U?cfem=1
Jul 31, 2015 10:43 AM - Mike Glass: my kids would love that.
Jul 31, 2015 10:56 AM - Blake Benefield: So any ideas on a printed collapsible work station for me? my current one is steel... cant fly with it
Jul 31, 2015 11:01 AM - Mike Kelly: what do you currently use?
Jul 31, 2015 11:02 AM - Blake Benefield: let me snap a pic
    Jul 31, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 11:10 AM - Mike Glass: dam failed
    Jul 31, 2015 11:11 AM - Mike Glass: [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 11:12 AM - Mike Glass: I beat you to it Blake.
Jul 31, 2015 11:13 AM - Mike Glass: think your gonna need a bigbox printer for that.
    Jul 31, 2015 11:13 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 11:14 AM - Blake Benefield: I know the top and bottom trays would need to be glued or bolted together etc.
    Jul 31, 2015 11:14 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
    Jul 31, 2015 11:15 AM - Blake Benefield: [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 11:16 AM - Blake Benefield: biggest concern is that counting machine on top. It's 6k
Jul 31, 2015 11:17 AM - Mike Glass: I have a few of those, use them to count sand granules.
Jul 31, 2015 11:18 AM - Blake Benefield: this one won't count quite that small lol
Jul 31, 2015 11:19 AM - Blake Benefield: small seads like sessame seads are about as small as it will do accurately
Jul 31, 2015 11:20 AM - Blake Benefield: and I have to figure out how to store the legs within the top and bottom trays.
Jul 31, 2015 11:21 AM - Mike Glass: Ballon legs
Jul 31, 2015 11:24 AM - Blake Benefield: most likely strucural pvc
    Jul 31, 2015 11:24 AM - Blake Benefield: http://www.formufit.com/1-1-4-in-furniture-grade-pvc-pipe/
    Jul 31, 2015 11:25 AM - donhuevo: http://www.amazon.com/PVC-Hollow-Rectangular-Gray-NSF-61/dp/B003Y39WD6
Jul 31, 2015 11:26 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah i wouldn't trust 3d printed parts for something like that
Jul 31, 2015 11:27 AM - Blake Benefield: don't see a way to safely assemble a top and bottom tray MK?
    Jul 31, 2015 11:27 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:932732 something like this?
Jul 31, 2015 11:28 AM - Blake Benefield: the legs aren't a problem at all
Jul 31, 2015 11:28 AM - Blake Benefield: just the trays
Jul 31, 2015 11:28 AM - Mike Kelly: i mean you'd kinda need to bolt them together and in the end would be a more expensive solution than say wood

Jul 31, 2015 11:29 AM - Mike Glass: yea wood would really be the best fit.
Jul 31, 2015 11:30 AM - Blake Benefield: the issue becomes shipping and portability. I'd be ok with it taking me 20 minutes to assemble if it means I could fly with it
    Jul 31, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: [IMG]
    Jul 31, 2015 11:32 AM - Mike Kelly: i totally need that
Jul 31, 2015 11:32 AM - Blake Benefield: initially we were told by TSA that we could just make the legs from PVC and that would put us below the maximum length and the tray could then be flown with
Jul 31, 2015 11:32 AM - Blake Benefield: we did that. Then they kicked it out because the tray had steel corners
Jul 31, 2015 11:33 AM - Mike Kelly: if you had a really big printer that could do the tray in 1 go it would work
Jul 31, 2015 11:36 AM - Blake Benefield: but you wouldn't piece it... Cool. Now I won't waste filament trying lol
Jul 31, 2015 11:36 AM - Mike Kelly: yeah you'd need like a lot of hardware
Jul 31, 2015 11:37 AM - Blake Benefield: only needs to be 18"x24" really.
Jul 31, 2015 11:37 AM - Blake Benefield: was thinking about 12 pieces 6x6 with captured nuts and machine screws
Jul 31, 2015 11:37 AM - Mike Kelly: if you did it in 6" blocks
Jul 31, 2015 11:38 AM - Mike Kelly: how much weight is it supporting
    Jul 31, 2015 11:39 AM - Mike Glass: 3lb laptop and a 25lb counter?
    Jul 31, 2015 11:39 AM - Blake Benefield: 15lb counter
    Jul 31, 2015 11:39 AM - Blake Benefield: 14.56lbs
Jul 31, 2015 11:40 AM - donhuevo: don't forget the times you used it as a ladder to get at crap on the top shelf
Jul 31, 2015 11:40 AM - Blake Benefield: i've never done that lol. The machine is too valuable
Jul 31, 2015 11:40 AM - Mike Glass: Rocket boots don, geez
Jul 31, 2015 11:40 AM - Blake Benefield: most pharmacies aren't that bad really.
Jul 31, 2015 11:41 AM - donhuevo: haha. we just recently added a robot at our long term care pharmacy
    Jul 31, 2015 11:41 AM - donhuevo: dosis I think it is
Jul 31, 2015 11:41 AM - Blake Benefield: never heard of them. Only have experience with ScriptPro and Parata
Jul 31, 2015 11:42 AM - Mike Glass: is that the one that does the colonoscopy?
    Jul 31, 2015 11:42 AM - donhuevo:
Jul 31, 2015 11:42 AM - Blake Benefield: Oh ok, It's just for unit dose packaging
Jul 31, 2015 11:42 AM - Blake Benefield: Parata has something similar
Jul 31, 2015 11:42 AM - donhuevo: still has to count
Jul 31, 2015 11:43 AM - Mike Glass: I wanna puch her in the eye..lol
    Jul 31, 2015 11:43 AM - donhuevo: haha
    Jul 31, 2015 11:43 AM - donhuevo: yeah, don't know what that's about
Jul 31, 2015 11:44 AM - Blake Benefield: yeah it has to count, but its basically putting meds into dose packages... I.E. 1 package for morning, 1 for lunch etc etc.
Jul 31, 2015 11:44 AM - Blake Benefield: The problem with most of those systems is that they're limited as to how many they can do so there is still a good deal of manual labor involved.
Jul 31, 2015 11:45 AM - Blake Benefield: I had to count a Parata Max on monday
Jul 31, 2015 11:45 AM - Mike Glass: Lol looks like it takes 20 minutes just to package 10 pills.
    Jul 31, 2015 11:46 AM - Blake Benefield: lol
Jul 31, 2015 11:46 AM - Blake Benefield: Don, you guys use perpetual inventory?
Jul 31, 2015 11:46 AM - donhuevo: in all but two of our locations.
Jul 31, 2015 11:47 AM - Blake Benefield: let me know if you want to install it lol
    Jul 31, 2015 11:47 AM - donhuevo: ok then
Jul 31, 2015 11:47 AM - Blake Benefield: We could cut you a deal in order to learn QS/1 better
Jul 31, 2015 11:47 AM - jbigler1986: thats nice if you want them in blister packages
Jul 31, 2015 11:48 AM - donhuevo: the nursing homes we deal with require it
Jul 31, 2015 11:48 AM - donhuevo: the robot usually works all night
    Jul 31, 2015 11:50 AM - jbigler1986: you work all night
Jul 31, 2015 11:51 AM - donhuevo: I try and limit myself to 16 hour days
Jul 31, 2015 11:53 AM - Mike Glass: I thought it was one hour per 16 days?
    Jul 31, 2015 11:54 AM - donhuevo: I have no minions mg
Jul 31, 2015 11:54 AM - donhuevo: and today is my last vacation day. back to it tomorrow
Jul 31, 2015 11:54 AM - Blake Benefield: Mike gets confused because that's his schedule
Jul 31, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: blake if you did something like this: http://i.imgur.com/8c0OKKj.png
Jul 31, 2015 11:55 AM - Mike Kelly: each piece would use between 150 and 200g of filament. Along with requiring 10-12 hours to print each piece
Jul 31, 2015 11:58 AM - Blake Benefield: do you think the entire thing needs to be webbed? could probably either make them larger or reduce height I would thinkg
Jul 31, 2015 11:58 AM - Blake Benefield: that is cool though.
Jul 31, 2015 11:59 AM - Blake Benefield: and the bright side is that I wouldn't be paying for material since it is work related
    Jul 31, 2015 11:59 AM - Mike Glass: a beehive
    Jul 31, 2015 11:59 AM - donhuevo: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/donhuevo-s-robo3d
Jul 31, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: you'll get better strength this way
Jul 31, 2015 12:00 PM - Blake Benefield: i was actually thinking some sort of geometric pattern or random organic pattern like Mike's lantern pic would work well if I did it
Jul 31, 2015 12:00 PM - Mike Kelly: have you thought about just getting that plastic shelving?
Jul 31, 2015 12:01 PM - Blake Benefield: We looked at some plastic garage shelving but it was basically overmolded and left no room inside for legs and parts.
Jul 31, 2015 12:02 PM - Blake Benefield: link to what you have in mind?
    Jul 31, 2015 12:04 PM - donhuevo: this is interesting... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004GBROBC?psc=1
Jul 31, 2015 12:05 PM - Blake Benefield: Think pharmacy counter height Don.
Jul 31, 2015 12:06 PM - Blake Benefield: you know from being in the industry that what we do is pretty unique. as a result we have to make a lot of our own stuff
Jul 31, 2015 12:07 PM - donhuevo: I just like the idea of how it folds.
Jul 31, 2015 12:09 PM - Blake Benefield: its cool, I just have to have something that can be compacted down to go on a plane
Jul 31, 2015 12:11 PM - donhuevo: what are your dimension constraints?
    Jul 31, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: damnit i need a printer
    Jul 31, 2015 12:12 PM - jbigler1986: yes i said "need"
Jul 31, 2015 12:12 PM - donhuevo: isn't today the day you get yours back?
    Jul 31, 2015 12:13 PM - Blake Benefield: 20x14x9 don
Jul 31, 2015 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: as soon as her attorney gets off his ass. settlement has been sent over
    Jul 31, 2015 12:13 PM - jbigler1986: haha
Jul 31, 2015 12:14 PM - donhuevo: blake, how small does it need to be for a plane ride?
Jul 31, 2015 12:14 PM - donhuevo: or is that it?
Jul 31, 2015 12:14 PM - Blake Benefield: assembled cart has to be 18x24x35 Rigid enough to safely hold a laptop and counting machine (20lbs) and be rolled around in a pharmacy
    Jul 31, 2015 12:16 PM - donhuevo: that's a puzzle
Jul 31, 2015 12:17 PM - Blake Benefield: scroll up and you'll see the steel one i made
Jul 31, 2015 12:18 PM - Blake Benefield: collapses down to 18x24x2" thick
    Jul 31, 2015 12:20 PM - donhuevo: if you had to choose between 18x20x35 & 18x28x35...
Jul 31, 2015 12:23 PM - Blake Benefield: have to be 28. 20 isn't wide enough for the laptop and counting machine
    Jul 31, 2015 12:24 PM - donhuevo: alrighty...
    Jul 31, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Glass: Booyah
Jul 31, 2015 12:30 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Sterilit...astic-Shelving-Unit-1-Pack-01648501/202572471 the wrong dimensions but this is what i was envisioning
Jul 31, 2015 12:31 PM - Blake Benefield: not deep enough, but with some modifications something like that might work. Don't know how much it flexes etc.
Jul 31, 2015 12:32 PM - donhuevo: I'm thinking 4 20" pieces of square pvc tubing 3"? the wheels would have to retract into their end. 2nd smaller square tubing 17" long to telescope from within the bigger.
    Jul 31, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Sterilit...astic-Shelving-Unit-1-Pack-01558501/202572469 there's this one
Jul 31, 2015 12:32 PM - Mike Kelly: but too long
Jul 31, 2015 12:33 PM - donhuevo: smaller tube would only need to come out 12 inches to make 35" total height
    Jul 31, 2015 12:33 PM - donhuevo: should leave about 5" overlap
    Jul 31, 2015 12:33 PM - donhuevo: 18x28 top folds into 14x18
Jul 31, 2015 1:06 PM - Mike Glass: Ok, Im ready
Jul 31, 2015 1:12 PM - donhuevo: you should be
Jul 31, 2015 1:14 PM - Mike Glass: ready to fall asleep.
Jul 31, 2015 1:15 PM - donhuevo: I'm trying to will myself to cut the grass
Jul 31, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: Your still home! you dog
    Jul 31, 2015 1:16 PM - donhuevo: last day
Jul 31, 2015 1:16 PM - Mike Glass: you go back tomorrow?
    Jul 31, 2015 1:16 PM - donhuevo: have to do month-end tomorrow

Jul 31, 2015 1:17 PM - donhuevo: 3-4 hrs and the rest of the weekend is mostly mine
Jul 31, 2015 1:18 PM - Mike Glass: not too bad, then you can cut the grass tomorrow.
    Jul 31, 2015 1:19 PM - donhuevo: today is the day weather-wise
Jul 31, 2015 1:19 PM - Mike Glass: hotter tomorrow?
Jul 31, 2015 1:20 PM - donhuevo: thought it was supposed to rain. just checked and tomorrow is the day
Jul 31, 2015 1:26 PM - Mike Glass: see, im looking after you.

    Jul 31, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: it's an ooze guard
Jul 31, 2015 2:17 PM - Mike Kelly: helps protect the print from ooze off the secondary nozzle

Jul 31, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: how much do you suppose shining a white LED thru a spinning fan?
    Jul 31, 2015 3:40 PM - donhuevo: do you suppose you'd lose light-wise
    Jul 31, 2015 3:55 PM - Mike Glass: Maybe a little
Jul 31, 2015 4:00 PM - donhuevo: may be too late but thinking about part lighting

    Jul 31, 2015 4:04 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 4:05 PM - jbigler1986: anyone used the printrbot simple metal?
Jul 31, 2015 4:15 PM - Mike Glass: So how does it hit the parts
Jul 31, 2015 4:16 PM - donhuevo: if the part was very small, it wouldn't. most parts though, the carriage is running all over the place so the fans hit where the carriage has been
Jul 31, 2015 4:19 PM - Mike Glass: small parts would look like ass then.
    Jul 31, 2015 4:20 PM - donhuevo: maybe
Jul 31, 2015 4:20 PM - Mike Glass: I thought you had the open area made into a duct
    Jul 31, 2015 4:22 PM - donhuevo: [IMG]
Jul 31, 2015 4:23 PM - Mike Glass: woudl blower fan mount on that area or to wide.
Jul 31, 2015 4:24 PM - donhuevo: this thing is tiny. the blower wouldn't do well
Jul 31, 2015 4:25 PM - donhuevo: i'm thinking about led's up inside behind each part fan
Jul 31, 2015 4:32 PM - Mike Glass: how about an air pump for cooling
Jul 31, 2015 4:32 PM - donhuevo: I've thought about piping parts air in from elsewhere before
Jul 31, 2015 4:34 PM - Mike Glass: an aquarium pump has proven good results
Jul 31, 2015 4:38 PM - jbigler1986: what is the length of the dual carriage?
Jul 31, 2015 4:39 PM - Mike Glass: how about water cool your parts..lol
Jul 31, 2015 4:41 PM - Mike Glass: dont be a victim to this. [IMG]

    Jul 31, 2015 4:45 PM - jbigler1986: i rarely print large parts as is
    Jul 31, 2015 4:45 PM - Mike Glass: right
    Jul 31, 2015 4:46 PM - jbigler1986: hmmm

Jul 31, 2015 4:46 PM - jbigler1986: printrbot simple metal i can get tomorrow. not sure i like that one though
    Jul 31, 2015 4:47 PM - jbigler1986: plan of what?

Jul 31, 2015 5:00 PM - Printed Solid: I like my little metal. it prints really well.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:00 PM - Printed Solid: what's your budget?
    Jul 31, 2015 5:00 PM - jbigler1986: don't need a big build volume
    Jul 31, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: looking around $550 or so
Jul 31, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: would like to go as far below as possible
    Jul 31, 2015 5:01 PM - jbigler1986: nobody suggest a 3d pen either
Jul 31, 2015 5:01 PM - Printed Solid: The printrbots are 100X better than robo out of the box.
Jul 31, 2015 5:02 PM - Printed Solid: they just don't have the same capabilities.
Jul 31, 2015 5:02 PM - Printed Solid: no heated bed, no all metal hot end, small build volume, etc.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:02 PM - Mike Glass: I did suggest a pen JB
    Jul 31, 2015 5:02 PM - jbigler1986: i never print with ABS either
Jul 31, 2015 5:02 PM - donhuevo: maybe you can alter a dildo to extrude filament
Jul 31, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: If you are seriously interested in a metal simple, I'm a reseller. I can see what I can do for you on pricing.
Jul 31, 2015 5:03 PM - jbigler1986: looking to get it this weekend as well. Yeah I'm impatient as hell
Jul 31, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: I work through distributor though, so I don't have stellar markdowns.
Jul 31, 2015 5:03 PM - Printed Solid: I'll DM you what I can do for you.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:04 PM - jbigler1986: ok

Jul 31, 2015 5:08 PM - Printed Solid: It's not possible for anyone to do unless you can find a brick and mortar store that sells them.

Jul 31, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: i do like 3 hours away from one warehouse and 40 minutes from another
    Jul 31, 2015 5:10 PM - jbigler1986: live*
Jul 31, 2015 5:10 PM - Printed Solid: they don't carry everything in every warehouse.
Jul 31, 2015 5:11 PM - Printed Solid: you have to send stuff to the warehouse they find most advantageous for that product.
Jul 31, 2015 5:11 PM - Printed Solid: They have warehouses all over the place in every state.
    Jul 31, 2015 5:11 PM - jbigler1986: printrbot play i can get sunday

Jul 31, 2015 5:41 PM - Printed Solid: just make it be NOT the davinci. on principle alone.

Jul 31, 2015 6:13 PM - Mike Glass: I was the first one to build his cnc and have it running.
Jul 31, 2015 6:14 PM - Mike Glass: if he wins he going to make a new revision
Jul 31, 2015 6:14 PM - Mike Glass: although the new z axis upgrade is awesome
Jul 31, 2015 6:16 PM - Austin: Yea he's a real good guy. We use to work together. Would be awesome to see him win.
Jul 31, 2015 6:18 PM - Mike Glass: You worked at robo also?
    Jul 31, 2015 6:28 PM - Austin: Haha yea I still do.
    Jul 31, 2015 6:29 PM - Austin: I usually just lurk the forums :p
Jul 31, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Glass: ah gotcha
Jul 31, 2015 6:30 PM - hybridman: Hey guys. New to the forum and 3d printing - learning Robo3d. Love the printer- still working out problems
Jul 31, 2015 6:30 PM - Mike Glass: I keep on bother him for more parts, he tells me I keep him busy..lol
Jul 31, 2015 6:30 PM - hybridman: Thinking of getting simplify3d- is it worth the money? Using Mattercontrol still
    Jul 31, 2015 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: i win
Jul 31, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: Night and day, s3d is really nice
    Jul 31, 2015 6:31 PM - jbigler1986: s3d is worth it
Jul 31, 2015 6:31 PM - Mike Glass: What did ya win?
Jul 31, 2015 6:54 PM - JeffTheMess: tired of battling this hobbed bolt
Jul 31, 2015 7:35 PM - daniel871: Okay, everything is together and checks out okay electronically, now I just need to verify the esteps for the hercustruders.
Jul 31, 2015 7:36 PM - Mike Glass: lets see that puppy print
    Jul 31, 2015 7:40 PM - daniel871: Working on it.
    Jul 31, 2015 7:40 PM - daniel871: 500 is a bit too low.
Jul 31, 2015 7:42 PM - daniel871: Agh, what's the equation again? I know that the number of steps per revolution is 1036 and that the diameter of the Tatsu is 11mm, how do I translate that into steps per mm of feed?
    Jul 31, 2015 7:42 PM - daniel871: (5.18 x 200 steps per revolution = 1036 steps per revolution)
Jul 31, 2015 7:43 PM - daniel871: 11mm diameter at the teeth in the gear that actually grabs the filament.
Jul 31, 2015 7:46 PM - jbigler1986: Measure 150mm filament from the hecustruder. Extrude 100mm. Measure how much is left
Jul 31, 2015 7:48 PM - jbigler1986: Take 150 minus the distance of filament left. Take current esteps and multiple by 100. Then divide that number by the number you got from the subraction
Jul 31, 2015 7:49 PM - jbigler1986: So lets say the distance left is 45mm of filament. Current esteps are 500.

    Jul 31, 2015 7:50 PM - daniel871: 63.3
    Jul 31, 2015 7:50 PM - daniel871: left, so under-extruding at the moment.
    Jul 31, 2015 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: 150-45 = 105, 500×100 =50000, 50000/105 = 476.19
    Jul 31, 2015 7:51 PM - jbigler1986: So esteps would be 479.19
Jul 31, 2015 7:52 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah if you got 63.3 you are under extruding a little
    Jul 31, 2015 7:52 PM - daniel871: 150-63.3=86.7
    Jul 31, 2015 7:53 PM - jbigler1986: What is current esteps?
Jul 31, 2015 7:53 PM - daniel871: Most recent esteps fiddling in the dark was 530.1 (click on the knob turned the odd decimal)
    Jul 31, 2015 7:54 PM - jbigler1986: So current esteps are 530.1?
    Jul 31, 2015 7:54 PM - daniel871: So 530.1*100 = 53010/86.7 = 611.5 roughly.
    Jul 31, 2015 7:54 PM - daniel871: Yes.
Jul 31, 2015 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: Thats correct. Then test it again.
    Jul 31, 2015 7:55 PM - jbigler1986: Should be right on
    Jul 31, 2015 7:56 PM - jbigler1986: If not adjust again
    Jul 31, 2015 8:00 PM - daniel871: 39.85 that time
    Jul 31, 2015 8:00 PM - daniel871: So over-extruding.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:03 PM - bamhm182: Hey everyone
    Jul 31, 2015 8:04 PM - bamhm182: Well, you two
    Jul 31, 2015 8:05 PM - daniel871: 551.2
    Jul 31, 2015 8:05 PM - daniel871: 555 rather, bah, you know what I mean.
Jul 31, 2015 8:08 PM - daniel871: This is going all over the place. Now it's calculating esteps as 752.6 when 611.5 was over-extruding.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:08 PM - daniel871: Hm.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:11 PM - bamhm182: You bowden or dd, daniel?
    Jul 31, 2015 8:11 PM - bamhm182: dd, right?
Jul 31, 2015 8:11 PM - daniel871: Dual Bowden, but just tuning the primary right now and then printing spool holders.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:11 PM - daniel871: Hm.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:12 PM - bamhm182: How are you measuring this?
Jul 31, 2015 8:12 PM - daniel871: Marking 150mm on the incoming end of the filament, feeding "100mm" and checking the leftover.
Jul 31, 2015 8:13 PM - daniel871: But something in the equation is off because I'm not getting any closer.
Jul 31, 2015 8:13 PM - daniel871: Also it's been a long day so math is a little hard right now.
Jul 31, 2015 8:13 PM - bamhm182: For the few days I was bowden successfully, I would disconnect it from the hot end, make it flush with the tube, then tell it to move however much towards the hot end of the tube, then measure how much it actually pushed out
Jul 31, 2015 8:14 PM - daniel871: Same thing, but at the other end really.
Jul 31, 2015 8:14 PM - daniel871: I think I should be calculating the ratio between the 50mm that should be left behind and the actual distance left behind.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:14 PM - daniel871: Since I'm marking 150 but telling it to do 100
    Jul 31, 2015 8:15 PM - bamhm182: Because I can't words right now, here's a picture [IMG]
    Jul 31, 2015 8:15 PM - daniel871: Yeah, I'm using those to measure it.
Jul 31, 2015 8:15 PM - bamhm182: The little stick bit on the right of the calipers. I would put the tip of that on the tube and the ruler part at the end of the filament
Jul 31, 2015 8:16 PM - bamhm182: Then I would tell it to extrude 65mm, measure and note, retract 20, zero calipers, measure and note, retract 10, zero calipers, measure and note
Jul 31, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: and I would do that until I had like 10 or so results, randomly picking between extrusion and retraction, then I would do (actual / expected) for each of those and note that to the side
Jul 31, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: Then I would take an average of those and do (current esteps * average)
Jul 31, 2015 8:18 PM - bamhm182: That got me honed in really quickly
Jul 31, 2015 8:18 PM - Mike Glass: http://www.bocabearings.com/innovation-contest/ContestantDetails.aspx?ProjectID=179 39 min left if you have voted yet.
Jul 31, 2015 8:19 PM - bamhm182: Already voted, also posted on facebook and think I got him a few more votes
Jul 31, 2015 8:19 PM - bamhm182: Any idea where to check the current scores?
Jul 31, 2015 8:24 PM - Mike Glass: click on the watch entries button
    Jul 31, 2015 8:25 PM - Mike Glass: 4 votes away
    Jul 31, 2015 8:29 PM - bamhm182: Real close
Jul 31, 2015 8:29 PM - bamhm182: Not going to lie, that snow plow does look pretty awesome
Jul 31, 2015 8:29 PM - bamhm182: Still voted for the MPCNC though
Jul 31, 2015 8:30 PM - bamhm182: I don't know if I'm going to be able to build one... I have to keep mobility in mind and I don't know how I'd transfer it from place to place. :/
Jul 31, 2015 8:33 PM - Mike Glass: its fairly portable with the new feet
Jul 31, 2015 8:34 PM - bamhm182: I mean like "Hey, you're moving to the other side of the world and a bunch of strangers are going to be packing you up" kind of mobile
    Jul 31, 2015 8:35 PM - bamhm182: I would need a sturdy box with something to ensure it doesn't smack around/get squashed
    Jul 31, 2015 8:35 PM - bamhm182: ahead by 7
    Jul 31, 2015 8:41 PM - bamhm182: Now 10
Jul 31, 2015 8:41 PM - Mike Glass: heh, hmm wonder who that was
    Jul 31, 2015 8:42 PM - bamhm182: Haha
Jul 31, 2015 8:46 PM - daniel871: Okay, finally got things dialed in. Esteps are 590. Now to test a print by printing a spool holder to go under the hercustruder.
Jul 31, 2015 8:48 PM - daniel871: Okay, maybe not. The bed isn't heating at all.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:48 PM - daniel871: Fuck.
    Jul 31, 2015 8:49 PM - bamhm182: Hooray! Haha
Jul 31, 2015 8:50 PM - daniel871: Christ, it's been one thing after another with original stock parts breaking.
Jul 31, 2015 8:50 PM - daniel871: Almost all of them having to do with the Y-axis.
Jul 31, 2015 8:50 PM - bamhm182: Yeah, that's how mine has been, although they are all 100% my fault
Jul 31, 2015 8:50 PM - daniel871: Belt clips, bearings, glass bed, now the heater itself.
Jul 31, 2015 8:50 PM - bamhm182: Any of you know anything about ASPs?
    Jul 31, 2015 8:51 PM - daniel871: The snake?
Jul 31, 2015 8:52 PM - bamhm182: I'm trying to burn a new bootloader on this old arduino since I can't break it anymore than it already is, so I bought this usbASP and I think it's firmware is out of date, so I've been trying to use this new arduino with the ArduinoISP example to upgrade it
Jul 31, 2015 8:52 PM - bamhm182: It's a pain in the ass for something that probably isn't going to work anyways
    Jul 31, 2015 8:53 PM - bamhm182: Nah, one of these https://www.protostack.com/download/Users Guide (AC-PG-USBASP-UG-V2.0).pdf
Jul 31, 2015 8:55 PM - bamhm182: As soon as I mention it, I figure it out. *facepalm*
Jul 31, 2015 8:56 PM - bamhm182: And I was right, this board is just toast
Jul 31, 2015 8:57 PM - Mike Glass: woohoo he won
Jul 31, 2015 8:59 PM - bamhm182: Nice! So what does that mean?

Jul 31, 2015 at 9:02 PM - Mike Glass: 5K and new version
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:04 PM - daniel871: Any ideas on why the bed wouldn't heat up, or just a POS element?
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:04 PM - daniel871: Thermistor for the bed is reporting the correct temperature of the room, and none of the wires are loose or burned on the board, so I don't know wtf.
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:07 PM - daniel871: And now I won't get a response from Robo until Monday afternoon at the earliest.
    Jul 31, 2015 at 9:09 PM - bamhm182: Awesome
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:09 PM - bamhm182: When you built yours, did you source the parts or buy his kits?
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:10 PM - bamhm182: I would unplug everything at the top and plug it back in, just to make sure the wire for the bed didn't come loose but looks snug
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:11 PM - bamhm182: Top being the USB side. I forget off the top of my head which is the bed heater, but it's one of the 3 on the right.
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:12 PM - Mike Glass: I built mine from scratch created the BOM so everybody is using that one.
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:13 PM - daniel871: I'll do that tomorrow, I need to go to bed.
    Jul 31, 2015 at 9:13 PM - daniel871: So close...
Jul 31, 2015 at 9:14 PM - Mike Glass: hopefully you get it figured out daniel
Aug 1, 2015 at 4:12 AM - Bill Monroe: I'd like the mashed potato bowl - extra cheese.. No I dont want the combo.
Aug 1, 2015 at 4:34 AM - jbigler1986: Is 2.0 making that for you now?
    Aug 1, 2015 at 4:42 AM - Bill Monroe: :) she's still asleep
Aug 1, 2015 at 4:43 AM - Bill Monroe: How you doing?
Aug 1, 2015 at 4:54 AM - daniel871: Okay, fixed the bed by removing the heater wires at the ramps end, cutting them, re-splicing each section and putting them back in and tightening them back down.
Aug 1, 2015 at 4:54 AM - daniel871: Noticed that some of each set of wires weren't actually in the holes very well.
Aug 1, 2015 at 4:55 AM - daniel871: Running PID tuning on the Bed right now, then will run it for Nozzle 1 just to make sure everything is right there, as well.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 4:55 AM - daniel871: *Then* test printing starts.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: You have had bad luck
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:12 AM - jbigler1986: Bill im doing good. You?
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: well, Bills are paid, plane is airworthy, ford is chugging, son's financee' got a job, 2.0 is uber-hot.. I guess things are pretty good
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:14 AM - daniel871: PID done, now just cleaning the nozzle off where the primed filament dripped during the PID testing, then printing. Fingers fn crossed, man.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:14 AM - daniel871: (firmware updated per PID, forgot to mention)
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:14 AM - Bill Monroe: oh, but it looks like the delrin bushing on the right side Z is shot
    Aug 1, 2015 at 5:16 AM - jbigler1986: Really. Interesting
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:16 AM - daniel871: Simple wear-and-tear, or did something happen to it?
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:16 AM - Bill Monroe: ya, rocks a little when it unseats and causes the switch to activate premature.. makes the auto"level" think it's high on that side.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:17 AM - daniel871: Also, is the bullet box still needed with the leadscrew upgrade?
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:17 AM - Bill Monroe: just wear... cheap chinese plastic
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:17 AM - daniel871: I have it on there anyway, but was just wondering.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:18 AM - Bill Monroe: the X should ALWAYS be balanced on the silly reprap x carriage design, regardless of how it's lifted
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:19 AM - daniel871: Wasn't sure if that new Z-axis clamp deal would do the same thing.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:19 AM - Bill Monroe: remember, the whole x axis is just sitting on the carriage lifters.. not attached.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:19 AM - daniel871: It sort of wraps around the carriage on each end and is a pretty snug fit. Will still slide up and down during homing/autolevel.
Aug 1, 2015 at 5:20 AM - Bill Monroe: the new stuff has zero effect on leveling
Aug 1, 2015 at 6:06 AM - Bill Monroe: jb, robo's screws have metal nuts, yes?
Aug 1, 2015 at 6:06 AM - daniel871: Not JB, but if you mean the leadscrews? Yes.
Aug 1, 2015 at 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: Robos lead screws yes. I have the plastic delrin nuts
Aug 1, 2015 at 7:31 AM - jbigler1986: I need to upgrade to the brass ones
Aug 1, 2015 at 7:31 AM - Bill Monroe: you can get them for the screws we have?
    Aug 1, 2015 at 8:13 AM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:14 AM - Mike Glass: Walmart

Aug 1, 2015 at 8:17 AM - Mike Glass: hey did you order that printer JB?
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:18 AM - Bill Monroe: how does the thread pitch compare between the amazon and robo units?
    Aug 1, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: robo's have a smaller pitch
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Bill Monroe: indeed
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: I disnt order it. Just couldnt pull the trigger
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:19 AM - Mike Glass: 800 steps , what do you run your steps at
    Aug 1, 2015 at 8:19 AM - jbigler1986: Didnt*
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:20 AM - Bill Monroe: same
    Aug 1, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: oh wait, no.. i'm running 400 on Z
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:22 AM - Bill Monroe: I wonder if robo still has some?
Aug 1, 2015 at 8:57 AM - Mike Glass: 15 days they will
Aug 1, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: thanks Mike
Aug 1, 2015 at 9:16 AM - Bill Monroe: you'd think they'd speed it up, since *I* want to buy them :)
Aug 1, 2015 at 9:17 AM - Mike Glass: if they havent sold our already, they still have to replace some also.
Aug 1, 2015 at 9:22 AM - Bill Monroe: i dont see any mention on the site how to buy them.. guess I gotta send an email they can ignore huh?

Aug 1, 2015 at 10:27 AM - Mike Glass: cedar
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:30 AM - Mike Kelly: voted cedar
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:30 AM - donhuevo: you stuck your nose in it's drawers?
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:32 AM - Mike Glass: does not smell like cedar, almost perfumy.
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:33 AM - Mike Glass: ahha, its elm I believe
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Mike Kelly: http://www.wood-database.com/wp-content/uploads/american-elm-sealed.jpg fits the bill
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:35 AM - Mike Glass: well too light then
    Aug 1, 2015 at 10:36 AM - donhuevo: isn't elm a hardwood?
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:36 AM - Mike Glass: seems to be it there is one more, hackberry
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:37 AM - donhuevo: me and MK are checking out mg's wood

Aug 1, 2015 at 10:40 AM - donhuevo: I enjoyed that whole statement up until the sanding part
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:41 AM - Mike Glass: haha
Aug 1, 2015 at 10:42 AM - donhuevo: alrighty... done at the office. headed home for grass cutting

    Aug 1, 2015 at 10:43 AM - donhuevo: ttfn
Aug 1, 2015 at 11:51 AM - jbigler1986: Hola. Just got done at the zoo
Aug 1, 2015 at 11:52 AM - Mike Glass: oh you went to walmart did ya.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Okay, question time.
Aug 1, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Hercustruder keeps stripping filament after about an hour of extruding. Doesn't matter if it's T-glase, PET+, ABS or PLA. It's been a busy day trying different filaments.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 12:52 PM - daniel871: Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:00 PM - PeterkSharma: In my experiences it's the tension on the hobbled bolt
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:06 PM - daniel871: I've just loosened them until it's barely threaded and I'm working on tightening them up on a long extrude feed command until the filament starts pulling through.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:08 PM - PeterkSharma: It could be the threading on the bolt itself. I've heard people switching to ones with shallower/deeper teeth
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:09 PM - PeterkSharma: Have you tried cutting a some plastic so it won't have as much tension pulling from the roll?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: daniel how hot are the steppers
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:11 PM - daniel871: Just barely warm enough to notice warmth.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:11 PM - daniel871: Gentle hum while turning the gear.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:11 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:12 PM - Mike Kelly: i assume you adjusted the spring tension
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:12 PM - daniel871: Working on that right now.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: I may go back and shorten the bowden tubes leading from the hercustruder to the carriage. I used the whole tube that came with the v6's.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:13 PM - daniel871: Could be too long a travel/too much friction getting to the hotend.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:14 PM - Mike Kelly: could be
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:15 PM - daniel871: Okay, I have the tension where the bearing turns along with the gear.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:15 PM - daniel871: Now just feeding filament back thru the tube to the hotend and seeing how it extrudes, then try once more to print something.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 1:16 PM - daniel871: What's a good retraction value for bowden, anyway?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:16 PM - daniel871: Could be stripping on that.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 1:16 PM - Mike Kelly: i use 4
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:25 PM - donhuevo: same print about an hour in? what does the shape of the layers around that time look like?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:29 PM - Mike Kelly: what test print should i do on the robostein
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:30 PM - donhuevo: what specifically are you looking to test?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:30 PM - daniel871: That's when the part goes from the base to the, er, handle of the part I'm printing.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:30 PM - daniel871: Printing spool holder for the second extruder.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:30 PM - Mike Kelly: just print quality, preferably with supports
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:31 PM - daniel871: Do the Squid Attack, MK.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:31 PM - Mike Kelly: what are you doing for spool holders daniel
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:31 PM - Mike Kelly: i'm not happy with my current configuration
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:31 PM - daniel871: The Eustathios spool holders someone here found the other day.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:31 PM - daniel871: Except I'm going to mount it to the side of the Robo under the hercustruder.\
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Mike Kelly: ok then
    Aug 1, 2015 at 1:32 PM - Mike Kelly: that's kinda what i'm considering
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:32 PM - donhuevo: at that point in the print, are there lots of extra retractions?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: but like 2 on one side
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:33 PM - Mike Kelly: that's probably what i should print tbh
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:35 PM - Mike Kelly: is it just me or is youmagine being real crappy
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:51 PM - WheresWaldo: Hey, afternoon everyone.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:52 PM - Mike Kelly: hey
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:52 PM - WheresWaldo: How is everybody doing this afternoon?
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:56 PM - daniel871: I'll be doing a lot better if the bowden v6 will finish a print without stripping out. :p
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:56 PM - daniel871: Fingers crossed on this one.
Aug 1, 2015 at 1:57 PM - WheresWaldo: What extruder are you using?
    Aug 1, 2015 at 2:01 PM - WheresWaldo: Ordered a control board for Printer #2, here: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3Dpr...open-source-firmware-support/32384368763.html
    Aug 1, 2015 at 2:02 PM - daniel871: Hercustruder with 5.18:1 geared stepper.
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:02 PM - daniel871: x2, but I havne't attempted anything dual yet, making sure each one will do a print on their own before attempting to do the dual wizard.
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:03 PM - WheresWaldo: I will be printing two of those soon.
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:04 PM - WheresWaldo: Right now I am fighting PLA trying to printer the Extrusion Drill guides, I may redesign them for easier printing or just print them in PETG
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:10 PM - daniel871: It's weird looking in there at two nozzles and not seeing one of them extruding and having that moment of "God Damnit!" before seeing the other one working.
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:12 PM - WheresWaldo: I won't experience that for probably a couple of months, just collecting pieces right now, decided I am done with modifying the Robo, it is printing very good, no sense in breaking it.
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:13 PM - WheresWaldo: Except for PLA
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:59 PM - Mike Kelly: [IMG] final dry fit
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:59 PM - daniel871: Stupid cork crap on the bottom of the glass bed is dragging on the Y-axis belt and stepper gears.
Aug 1, 2015 at 2:59 PM - daniel871: Makes an almost growling sound when it makes contact.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:00 PM - daniel871: After this print is finished I'm going to try and tape it flat again with the HVAC tape I've got.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:00 PM - jbigler1986: Sound like what gregs wade was doing during lots of retraction. Is there a lot of retraction when it strips?
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:01 PM - jbigler1986: MK is that sturdy enough for your lady to sit on?
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:01 PM - daniel871: I changed the retraction to 4mm and so far things haven't stripped out again yet. 1 hour 15 minutes into the print.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:02 PM - daniel871: We'll find out in a minute though because it's about to get into the actual handle.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:02 PM - daniel871: Or shaft or whatever you want to call it.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:02 PM - daniel871: The noise I'm hearing is all around the bed right now. Stepper sounds fine.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:03 PM - jbigler1986: It really could be the drive gear. Hobbed bolt liked to strip filament with bowden during retraction
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:03 PM - daniel871: Also still only slightly warm to the touch.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:03 PM - daniel871: I'm using the Tatsu and it seems like I've got the tensioners adjusted right.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:04 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah could be tbe tatsu honestly.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:04 PM - daniel871: Again, we'll find out in about 20 minutes or so if the problem is fixed.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:04 PM - jbigler1986: Mk8 tension doesnt really matter much
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:04 PM - jbigler1986: Havent had any stripping issues with it or the mk7
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:05 PM - daniel871: Could be the gear, or could be the 800mm of tubing E3D sent with the Bowden v6.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:06 PM - PeterkSharma: Just hooked up my v6 and it won't heat.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:06 PM - daniel871: Also I bumped the temps up from 250 to 260 because damnit I forgot the v6 couldn't run cool like the Volcano could.
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:06 PM - jbigler1986: Got a picture of your setup?
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:06 PM - Mike Kelly: hmm i think so
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:06 PM - PeterkSharma: Maybe a bad heater cartage
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:06 PM - jbigler1986: Doubt it
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:07 PM - jbigler1986: How did you wire it?
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:08 PM - daniel871: I had a bad heater cartridge once, or at least, swapping it for another one fixed the issue.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:08 PM - daniel871: Image coming as soon as IMGUR stops being a crybaby and takes the upload.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:08 PM - jbigler1986: Usually its good. Sometimes its slow as hell
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:10 PM - jbigler1986: I have a massive headache. Stressed to the max. Which is incredibly rare for me
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:13 PM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:13 PM - daniel871: Looks ghetto as hell, I know.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:14 PM - Mike Kelly: anyone setup print one at a time with simplify3d?
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:14 PM - jbigler1986: Yeah
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:14 PM - daniel871: I've been afraid to do that because of fn up and having the carriage crash into a finished print while doing another one.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:15 PM - daniel871: I've been picking "layer by layer" or whatever to make it build multiple parts up at once when I do it.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:16 PM - daniel871: Apparently I had the tensioners too tight before, along with way too much retraction.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:16 PM - daniel871: No problems yet and it's twenty layers into the shaft.
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:19 PM - Stephen Capistron: Your beer shelf looks broken
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:20 PM - jbigler1986: what do you need to know MK
    Aug 1, 2015 at 3:20 PM - daniel871: Beer shelf?
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:23 PM - Stephen Capistron: Beer shelf, the thing around the post
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:23 PM - jbigler1986: did you see my post about that
Aug 1, 2015 at 3:28 PM - daniel871: Hey, has anyone ever gotten that Lotus thing to slice properly? I keep getting gaps in the leaves.
