You're the man Mike. I'll try it out when the part arrives. I've been documenting the chimera upgrade process so hopefully I'll have a mini guide for others that want to do it as well

I am going to be doing the same upgrade to two e3D V6s over the next few weeks. Have anything printed and ready to install.

My main concern now is the firmware and software changes. I can't seem to find a great document that lays everything out.

@jtn7040 how far have you gotten?

I have all the parts printed and am about to start tear down and assembly.

Just not sure what I need to change on the firmware and software (S3D).

I just wasn't sure what to change in config.h but I assume it's spelled out in there?

Also where do you put how far apart the nozzles are? Is that in config.h?

Yes configuration.h. and you will see extruder_offset_x and y. You will need to uncomment them. My distance is 18.0 and T0 is my front nozzel

Mike random question not sure if you have seen this. But I've gotten everything printing and dual extruding correctly however if I set one extruder to infill and one to perimeter the infill on one side of my text cube is about 1 mm short of connecting to the perimeter wall. Any ideas?

Is there an early version of the upgrade document? I've just ordered the legends pack and will be working on getting the chimera on first in the coming days/ weeks. Any help would be appreciated, and I'd be happy to provide feedback/ additional info for the document as I go through the process.

Sadly I've been on travel for work over the last few weeks however I'm back now and ironing out issues with using a .8.mm nozzle and a .25mm nozzle simultaneously with the chimera. However I've gotten it working perfectly using two .4 or two .25s. Over the week I'll start uploading some of the pictures and try to type up the teardown process.

Michael, where did you order an extra stepper motor from? I just checked amazon and can't find a 48 oz.

I use. 64 oz but you may have issues printing fast or with larger nozzles or certain materials. You truly {need} a geared set up for the Bowden set up. I'm currently switching my extruders to a geared 4 to 1 reduction.

I got a 64-oz stepper for the Wade back when I was still using it, it worked fine other than the hobbed bolt always needing to be cleaned after any print (went to this stepper motor for the Bowden Hercustruder).

You won't have the torque needed to push filament like bronze fill without a geared set up

That plantery geared one will work fine. But so will a simple geared extruder

That would be the stepper I linked in the previous post.

Yeah I ordered a 64oz. Hoping thatll work, if not I am thinking of upgrading my Robo with the new Z axis so I'd have those other steppers available too when I did that. Spending around $100 just on two steppers is a bit much so I'll probably just curse my self and try my best to get it to work without going the geared route.

Thanks Daniel, googling I actually just found another one as well. I am currently on the game plan to use the Hercustruder so I'll see if I can make up a gearbox before I begin my tear down. Otherwise I may change the game plan a bit and go that route JTN
