I'm starting to have issues with my current hot end, and it has never seemed to work well with ABS. I'm considering getting an upgraded hot end, seems like the E3D V6 is popular.

This is the one that seems to have good reviews. The forum wouldn't let me post the link, but this is on Amazon for $96.
    E3D All-metal v6 HotEnd Full Kit 1.75mm Universal (with Bowden add-on)

Would this work? Anything I should know about this? Any insight would be super helpful, thank you!

    Yes, that will work.
Search the forums for E3D -- you'll get a lot of hits to comments about it.

For $96 you'd be better buying it direct from E3D.

    http://e3d-online.com/E3D-v6/Full-Kit/v6-1.75mm-Universal

Or go to PrintedSolid.com and get the kit and the stud thermistor for the easiest upgrade path.

    For the kit:

    For the Stud Thermistor:
    http://printedsolid.com/collections/accessories-and-upgrades/products/screw-on-m3-stud-thermistor

If you go with those last two links, it's mainly a job of putting things together and you don't have to worry about changing the firmware at all.

The guide on the forums for how to install it can be found here:

I just did the E3D V6 upgrade w/ the bowden tube and my printer is working great. I would suggest you print a fan mount and also the piece I used to attach my wire bundle nice and neat.

Here's my setup. It turned out nice and neat and it works great!

This is the link to the fan mount. The factory 40mm part cooler fan fits great inside this mount.

Here's the link to the cable mount I used. It's actually part of a cable chain upgrade that I might do eventually. But for now it works great as a way to tidy up my cables.

I would highly recommend you use the stud sensor mentioned above. That way you don't have to screw around with trying to modify the firmware on your printer. Be sure to follow the V6 guide mentioned above. It came in very handy for me along with the video below that shows how to install the E3D V6. You'll need to bore out the filament pathway as shown in the video below if you use the bowden tube like how it's suggested.
