So I have a model that I can not print without supports. it has high inner arcs and pieces the "float" a bit off the bed. So I have been printing it with supports (standard settings in Matter Control) however they are really hard to remove (I am using PLA).

Does anyone have suggestions on what I can do to make the supports remove easier from the model (using matter control).

    Thank you!
    George

You have to play with the values circled in red in the attached image under the Advanced Options until you get the results you want.

If supports become a sticking point that you can't get over then you might want to research other slicers.

Q: How do I make supports easier to remove?
A: Buy Simplify3D. Worth every penny if you ever print with support

    +1 Simplify3D

There is a setting in S3D to change the distance of support material from the main piece. It works like a charm. I had to increase this distance to accomodate the "sticky" PETG.

The new Matter Control 1.5 has the ability to set the air gap and interface layers on support material now...

So until someone post settings for the other MatterControl users to leverage that have them working as well as Simplify3d I still say that is the answer (since whatever they are using works out-of-the-box). I also think the other software could likely be tweaked to perform close with some work. :)

    I gave up trying.

Can you give a brief explanation of what raising and lowering each of these settings will do?

Generate support using Meshmixer. Very easy to remove and you can customize the support.
