Hello! I recently acquired a Robo R1. I've had to do a lot of work on it (lead screw upgrade, new Arduino and RAMPS boards, new cable for heated bed, new motors..actually pretty much everything).
The prints have improved greatly however now I'm getting layer misalignment on the rear side. Printing a calibration cube, the front, left, right and top are great, but the rear layers are misaligned. I'll have 3 of 4 sides smooth.
The only thing I can think of is the acceleration/jerk when the Y axis positions?

That to me looks more like under extrusion, or maybe a partial clog.

Though being on one side only is kind of weird, if you flip the model 180 what happens

I've printed about 8 parts and anything over about 5mm in height has the same issue on the back side. I did run at 108% extrusion on a few and didn't seem to make a difference.

    Let's see a 180 flip. really curious

It doesn't really look like a misalignment to me. Is that the fan side?

I'll print a flip. I've got a fan on both sides.

It appears that my linear bearings were shot on the Y and not suddenly the Z bearings are also making lovely sounds. I ordered a dozen. After initially working the Y axis loose, the calibration cube came out perfect.
On a side note, I had some DRV8825's that I forgot all about. I installed them and reflashed at 1/32 stepping. I printed a newer spool holder and layers look excellent.

Now just waiting on those bearings...

Also, I only used dry PTFE lube on the guide rods.

I use white lithium grease on the lead screws and the smooth stuff I use 3 in 1...

Yeah it doesn't seem to like the dry PTFE lube. I've got 3-in-1 and white grease. Lesson learned haha.

I cheated. I asked the experts here before opting to use the Force when the machine started rattling. Just because I printed a light saber does it make me a Jedi, after all...:)
