So I just got this and installed it. The printer recognizes it and I don't get any errors. However, I set the temperature to around 220°C and as soon as it begins to autobed level the temperature begins to fall. Everything just stops. Is the thermistor faulty or do I also need to change out the heater cartridge? I think it might be the heater cartridge.

Does your terminal log show any errors?

If you don't pre-heat before a print does it work?

Check to see if the extruder temperature setting in your slicer is set properly, and that it is turned on again after the start gcode in Mattercontrol.

    Sample start gcode:

    G28 X0 Y0 Z0 ; home all axes
    G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle
G28 X0 Y0 Z0 ; Home Z again in case there was filament on nozzle
    G29 ; probe the bed
    G1 Z5 F5000 ; lift nozzle
M109 S[temperature] ; set the extruder temp and wait

It acts like it starts to print, but when it starts the whole thing just stops. Then the extruder just begins to cool down. It's like it is not detecting the thermistor.

I gave up on that and installed the old one. Now everything seems to run fine. I swear these gremlins on this machine are real.

    LOL

I'll check this out and try these codes. I am new to 3d printing and I thought this would be easy. It sort of is, but it is just a pain ..
I can fully say with confidence though I could build one from scratch. haha

Flying an airplane looks easy too.
Errors in the terminal log will be the key as @Mike Kelly suggested.
