A friend designed this new style of ribbon cable clamp to replace the one that is on the shipping R1 Plus. the shipping one puts the ribbon cable into a U shape. This straightens it out.

Hopefully, you will find it useful.

This looks very interesting. In your experience with it, have you seen an increased clearance with this between the black plate holding the y-axis equipment and the cable at the clamp?

    Cool I'll try it!

I hate the stock one especially when trying to put the bed back on, getting the cable through there and not sticking down to much is annoying.

I am including some pictures that show it. Notice that it does not stick down past the black mounting rail and is flush with the top of the rail. I can't say that it gives you more clearance since I did not check what the clearance was on the old holder. But, I believe that it does.

Thanks for the images, Lee. I'll try to take a 'before' picture, but I'll have to wait since I'm in the middle of printing something. This seems that yes, clearance does increase which would permanently solve an issue for me where the ribbon cable hits that support, causing some motor slippage (at least I think it's slipping). I'll print it out and try it as soon as I can.

Which orientation did you print them and did you use supports?

I'm trying this ( printer is heating up now ). Just supports on the small part.

    Printed. Works great!

P.S. I would be interested in a cable chain for the bed heater cable.

Here's the picture of the current clearance level. I hope it makes sense. I've printed this part out and next time I do some TLC on the printer, I'll install, take more pictures, and try to compare.

Just installed it on mine, its awesome, works great much better than the stock one. My favorite part is I don't have to monkey around trying to scrunch the ribbon up under the bed.
