Has anyone tried one of these on the bed to prevent chipping.

MouKou Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Tablet Screen Protectors Tempered Glass Protector Rounded Edges Premium Tempered Glass Screen for Microsoft Surface Pro 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0183NW8G4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awd_GJT7wbP3YDHTX

I saw a video on YouTube of a guy using this when printing with petg. He said petg can cause the bed to crack because it bonds so well to the glass. I'm going to be printing a ton of petg and I just had the bed break from just Pla.

I'm actually looking into this myself. The guy is Richard Horne experimenting with PETG on the BigBox and looking for a way to avoid the way PETG will chip glass due to how hard it can adhere to said glass (seems to work well for him in his tests, but he's not sure about the longevity of the protector sheets).

You need to make sure the protector is actually 9H rated though.

Here is the blog post about it:

That's not glass so be careful if you are using auto bed leveling.

I've already set my Robo up to use the Mesh Bed Leveling script and do a lift-and-pause while heating the hotend after running the G28, so it's all good there.

So I'm about 30 or so prints into this and it seems to be holding up with petg. Just a thin coat of hair spray and my prints seem to be sticking well only had one warp on one side so I raised the bed temp to 90c and haven't looked back. Once you get petg dialed in it prints awesome. Still a little stringy but the strength of the finished part is worth it. Just hit it with a heat gun and the strings are gone.
