I just upgraded to Matter Control 1.5 and can not find the Z Gap option for supports?

Can anyone tell me what happened to it?

    Thanks!

Isn't air gap for rafts? I tried playing with this setting and it seems to have no effect on the z gap or air gap for supports.

When you hover over the air gap setting in the support section of Mater Control 1.5 the pop-up help also says that setting is for rafts.

I am unable to get any kind of gap on the z axis between the support and the object being printed with Matter Control 1.5

It seems like the Z gap option has been set to 0 and there is no way to change it. I've even tried changing other support settings.

Looks like printing an object with supports using Matter Control 1.5 will result in support structures that are practically inseparable from the object itself.

I would reinstall Matter Control 1.4 if I had a copy of the installer but all I can find is the installer for version 1.3.1 and I hate to go back that far.

Can you tell we where I can download the Robo3D version of Matter Control 1.4?

What other program would you suggest?

The current version on the actual Robo3D main website when you download it that way is 1.5.0, so...

    http://robo3d.com/software/

As for other software, Cura and Slic3r are both much better.

People that don't pay for Simplify3D often say Slic3r is probably the best in terms of the amount of control/options available for manipulating.

    Can download slic3r here http://slic3r.org/

And here is the manual if you want to read through it before deciding to download it and try it.

Thanks, but yea the current version 1.5.0 at http://robo3d.com/software/ is going to be a disappointment to anyone trying to print supports.

I checked the forum at http://forums.matterhackers.com/ and left a post at http://forums.matterhackers.com/topic/152/support-material

It looks like other people are having the same issue with supports.

It's just an improper definition under supports/air gap. That is the setting for the z gap. There is a separate air gap setting for rafts under the rafts tab.

I double checked it this morning

Did you try printing anything or check the slicing in the layer view? That setting has no effect on the z gap for supports.

When I set the air gap to be the same as my resolution layer it skips a layer between the last support layer and the next print layer. I've been using 1.5 for two weeks now and have not had any support issues.

Are you using the Windows version or the Mac version? I am using the Windows version and I can't get even 1 single layer of gap between supports.

Have you tried adjusting the air gap setting? Does it make any difference in the slicing?

Also did you install Matter Control 1.5 on a clean system or did you use the built in upgrade function to upgrade from 1.4?

I tried Cura and didn't like it. I also tried Slic3r on Linux but neither seem to have a decent UI for interacting directly with the printer controls.

I managed to find were I had stashed the installer for Matter Control 1.4 and went back to using version 1.4. I also manage to finally get a good print of the object that I was trying to print.

However, there is definitely issues with supports in Matter Control 1.5 and I hope they get fixed in future releases.

Thank you everyone that replied and tried to help me!
