    I can't really explain it. The infill is at 90%. I tried upping the top layers, shells, extrusion multiplier, and extrusion width. Help?

    I'm on ROBO R1+. Simplify. Hatchbox PLA.

    From the stringing, check temps.

    Too much heat under extrusion as the others have said possibly a partial jam. How is the flow out of the nozzle ?

    Well my extruder does get jammed a lot and the problem was pretty all of the sudden. Come to think of it, I think the problem started really happening after it got clogged. Should I stick a needle up there and try to unclog it? I'm at 195º.

    I think if itwere me I'd remove the filament, remove the nozzle, torch the nozzle with a butane torch to get the old junk out. Reinstall. Season with canola oil and try it again:)

    Do you think it will actually fix the problem? Also, does it have to be butane?

    Yah I tried that stuff. I also tried to calibrate it and I had the multiplier up to 1.14 for PLA at 195°. Out of 100mm only 70mm was getting taken in.

    Then there is your problem. Under extrusion.

    If the calibration is NOT helping then there is something mechanically wrong. Also, you should not try to adjust it/tweak it by setting the extrusion multiplier in the printing software. You need to fix the eSteps in the firmware.

    It is possible you have a partial clog, i cant guarantee it but its an easy check.

    The other easies thing to check is what @mark tomlinson said and is to check the esteps. If you extrude filament does it look like a good flow out of the extruder ?

    No it doesnt have to be butane, i used a massive propane one for the longest time because its all i had. :)

    If both those check out we can keep going togather until we get you running good prints.

    If you check those i can give you my fff for aimplify and make sure its not a slicer setting as well, or if youd perfer that now i can do that as well. But its sounding like a partial clog to me.

    You can even bake it in an oven at a high temperature (550-600F) but the torch is preferred. You can get a small butane hand torch at many places (including Amazon Prime: http://www.amazon.com/SE-MT3001-Deluxe-Butane-Ignition/dp/B005FN0ZCK).

    Torch does a far better job of reducing a clog to ash :)

    Yah i just did calibration and it didn't fix the problem. Kind of made it worse with big globs of filament.

    Here is a video of my extruder extruding 100mm (or so it claims)

    Here's a picture of what happened when I did the calibration (sorry about the bad lighting):

    Jeez i'll got with the torch idea. I think my oven tops out at 550º and something tells me that I shouldn't cook plastic in my oven haha

    So did it extrude 100 mm as measured from above the extruder?
    If not did you adjust the eSteps in the firmware and reflash it?

    I followed that video tutorial you first posted. I marked at 150mm (from the top of the extruder) and it only went down to 90mm from the 150mm. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with it, but the nozzle had to be brought down like .20mm to get it to stick. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. I doubt it, but just thought i'd throw that out there.

    Not sure what reflash is. Is that M500?

    How did you change the eSteps to fix the extrusion if you did not reflash the firmware?

    You have to download the correct firmware for whatever version of the printer you have:

    http://guide.robo3d.com/Wiki/ROBO_3D_Firmware_Release_Notes

    edit configuration.h, specifically this line:

    #define DEFAULT_AXIS_STEPS_PER_UNIT {80,80,800,723.38} // default steps per unit for RoBo 3D R1

    The 723.38 is what you would be tweaking. It sounds like it extruded 90% (90mm instead of 100mm)?
    If so that number needs a boost:
    • New Steps/mm = (Old or Current steps/mm) x [100 / (measured distance filament traveled)]
    So, new steps = 723.38 x (100/90) -> 803.75

    Edit and reflash the new firmware.

    Make sure your measurements were correct.

    If you have been storing things in the EEPROM then you are indeed going to need to clear that out as well or your firmware changes will not work.

    ==== EEPROM GCodes ====

    • M500 Store current settings in EEPROM for the next startup or M501.
    • M501 Read all parameters from EEPROM. (Or, undo changes.)
    • M502 Reset current settings to defaults, as set in Configurations.h. (Follow with M500 to reset the EEPROM too.)
    So after firmware is fixed you need the M502 and an M500 at some point for them to work.

    Good idea.
    I just avoid using the EEPROM since I know I would screw up and forget everything is 'stickied' a waste a print or two.

    If I flash the firmware I want to trust it took effect :)

    I may outgrow this at some point, like after many months of NOT having the update the firmware.
