In the meantime, it's been cranking away at 5mm/s for awhile without failing, so hopefully I can get my part out of this spool after all. Thanks for the help.

Also I'm using my PLA oiler with the TPU now. Don't know if that's helping or not but I figured it was worth a try.

The logic with the oiler is that it will absolutely work and help with PLA. Everything else is... maybe.
It will not HURT to use it with anything I have tested so far, but it doesn't add value to anything other than PLA that I am aware of.

It did work for about two hours... and then failed again. Oh well. New filament is on the way!

I got a roll of Sainsmart TPU that is the proper diameter, and it printed beautifully at 15mm/s. I'll probably go faster next time. Now I know why people write bad reviews for out of tolerance filament! Thanks for all the help.

Awesome. You might well be able to go faster, just run some test models and increase speed until you get a failure ... then back off two notches :)

I just settled for going slow.

I have found tpu to have very large quality issues. Id imagine with the issues we have running it they have issues extruding and spooling it as well :).
