I'm having a terrible time trying to move to a better computer. I know the printer is fine because it is printing right now on a P4 machine, but I have an i7 laptop running Windows 10 that just won't connect.
I have verified that the correct driver is installed (Arduino Mega 2650), and have removed/added back the Robo3D over and over, but always get either COM3 is in use, unavailable or unknown error.
I really need to get this working on a faster machine to test print quality issues. I have also tried the latest MC version (15.x) and 14.
I have no problem getting rid of any and all software or drivers and starting over.

Where did you get the Arduino driver you are installing?

I know it can work, I upgraded my printer PC to 10 a while back.
    We can get it sorted.

I followed a link you posted.

I think that's the right one.

Yes, that one should work -- you downloaded the Arduino compiler, right (ARDUINO 1.6.9)?

How are you verifying the COM port #?
Do you see it coming and going in device manager?

Have you confirmed the com port in the device manager? On Windows 10: right click the start menu button and left click device manager.

I did because at one point it would not add, and I saw it was unplugged. Plugged it in, and it showed up on COM3. One thing I am not sure about is, when I tried to Upload in the Arduino app, it had a communication problem. Maybe that will help isolate the problem. I can't do any more testing because I am in the middle of a 7 hour print on my old P4 machine, but as soon as it finishes, I'll do the Device Manager test again.

Yes, it is showing as being on COM3 in Device Manager.

Probably because the COM port is not being accessed correctly.
You might need to delete that device (the Arduino on the USB port) in device manager and let it re-install it.

I will try that again. I have deleted it and updated the driver several times, but whatever it takes. I am accustomed to imposing my will on digital devices, having done this for a living since 1993. :)

I am curious for you to try the mode command it should tell you the status of the comm ports --- mode |more will pause it.
I am not sure if it will detect it or not.
