Unresolved .25 Nozzle tip

Discussion in 'Troubleshooting' started by Kevin Robo 3D, Jun 23, 2016.

  1. Anyone know which settings need to be changed when installing a .25 nozzle tip on the hex hotend?

Yes, you need to change the nozzle diameter, and since it is small use slow speed.

  3. This is what's happening with the nozzle diameter changed and slower speed

Speed, z offset and layer height/nozzle definition in the slicer. Run test prints and tweak until you get the desired finish quality.

That could also be the result of over-extrusion with such a small nozzle, It will build up then burn, once burned it will fall off into the print somewhere. If you're lucky it will be in the infill if not you end up with picture two.

This is a key one. You can't print too large or too small of a layer height effectively on any size nozzle.
There are no hard and fast rules*, but a rule of thumb I use is layer height within 30-60% of the nozzle diameter.

*because different filament materials behave differently. You need to experiment.
