My R1+ printer will extrude material no problem manually but when I go to print, it prints out very fine lines of material and then it stops completely about 10-15 minutes in. I put a black mark on the filament and it never moves during printing. Here is what I've done so far to try to fix the problem:

    1. Make sure filament diameter setting is set at 1.75 in Cura and MatterControl
    2. Made sure the fan on the silver heat sink is working on the E3D V6 setup. The silver heat sink is NOT hot during printing.
    3. Adjusted temperatures up and down 20 degrees on both ABS and PLA
    4. I did do a extrusion calibration and it was off by about 12% (under), so I made the adjustment and now it is perfect measuring with digital calipers when I extrude 100 mm.
    5. Loosened and tightened the two filament feed screws at the the top of the assembly where the filament initially feeds in.
When I go to restart it I can get the filament to back out, but I notice that the filament has a hard indentation a 2-3 inches up from the end. It is getting pinched for some reason. There is no overflow of material between the hot end and heat sink connection. The whole E3D assembly is tight and secure.

With the E3D V6 install I did change the firmware to Robo3dR1V2_M8_E3D

These are my values when I enter in G29:

    <-Bed x: 15.00 y: 20.00 z: -0.55
    <-Bed x: 107.00 y: 20.00 z: -0.06
    <-Bed x: 199.00 y: 20.00 z: 0.22
    <-Bed x: 200.00 y: 130.00 z: 0.18
    <-Bed x: 108.00 y: 130.00 z: -0.01
    <-Bed x: 16.00 y: 130.00 z: -0.54
    <-Bed x: 15.00 y: 240.00 z: -0.35
    <-Bed x: 107.00 y: 240.00 z: 0.05
    <-Bed x: 199.00 y: 240.00 z: 0.31

I've learned a lot about 3d printers in that I've spent at least a few hours on this, but I would like to get this resolved soon. Once again I have the R1+. Thank you.

That appears to be the wrong firmware, where did you get that firmware ?

I got it off of a link from the first page of the E3D V6 thread in this forum. My other E3D V6 clone starting doing the same thing even before I changed the firmware from the stock firmware.

I see the plus firmware at the top of the page but will it work with the E3D V6?

Yes, but (you knew there was a BUT)

If you swapped thermistors for the E3D thermistor you must edit the CONFIGURATION.H to change the extruder thermistor type.
If you reused the hex thermistor OR if you upgraded to the MetalStud thermistor* you do NOT have to edit anything.

*always what I advise since it is not easy to break.

I knew that and I remembered it after I made my previous post. My brain is like spaghetti right now after trying to figure this out for a few days. :)

I am using the E3D thermistor so I had to manually change the two sets of parameters in the firmware you referred me to.

It's heating up to print now!

It is still doing the exact same thing. I can manually extrude but it won't move the filament through when I print.

I verified the new firmware is on there because MatterControl shows the right firmware filename and it's not asking me to upgrade anymore.

Okay I tried it again and now it will print the calibration circle but only half of it prints. Part of it prints too high too. My table is now miss-aligned. Is there a guide for the R1+ on leveling the table?

Lower the nozzle.to the bed u til a piece of paper just fits under the nozzle. Power down the printer and slide the extruder to the other side. If its higher tuen that threaded rod while holding the other threaded rod until it feels right. Slide the extruder back to the other side and repeat until even

Thank you. I went through the procedure and made an adjustment but now I cannot move the Z-axis down far enough using MatterControl to touch the paper. I keep hitting the z- button and nothing happens. z+ works fine.

Well I thought I had it but it's still only printing only about 40% of the calibration ring. I don't understand why if I have it so close with the paper test the auto calibration does not dial it.

Can you share some photos of your z switches. Maybe also one of what your getting from the 1st layer of the calibration circle

What is your layer height and width? Z offset?

    Layer Height .2 MM

Where do I find the layer width and Z offset in Matter Control?
