Nylon is fine, but good ventilation is important for any FFF printer and material.
ABS and PC are the ones you really want to vent away from you...

If you can vent it out and away, go for it. Certainly not a bad thing.

(IMHO SLA and DLP resin is the nastiest crap on the planet in terms of 3D printing medium. Do not breath the fumes, do not get in on you, etc.)

I saw some soft enclosure on kickstarter the other day forgot what it was called had windows and stuff and a built in filter. However it was really expensive($500+) and looked enormous. Was basically a tent for your printer with a filter.

Seen the same one today. It was by a fellow named James Nordstrom. The Kickstarter campaign never got its funding, but he started up anyway and sells the enclosures on this site.

They sure look nice, but wow they are expensive.

Might as well just buy a 12U server cabinet and modify it to hold the 3D printer vs. paying that much.

If somebody were to offer up a package like Mikes but one that screwed together I think I would be happy with that.

You're not alone. In it's in the pipeline but things have been slowed down lately. It'll be pricier but no glues required and no permanent damage to the printer

Glad to hear it. I would be more than happy to spend a bit more to eliminate the risk of screwing up the entire thing by improper fusing.

Should be available soon. Just trying to decide if we're going to buy the nut traps or print them ourselves.

Sorry, I've been kind of delinquent on this. Will see about getting a small batch made up. Between the addition of the hardware, the nut traps, the thicker plastic, and probably not fitting in a flat rate box anymore, I think price is going to have to go up by close to $140 vs the other enclosure design.

Is that still of interest to people?

Nice, would've loved to get that new version. Been slacking on the one I have mainly because some of the acrylic needed to be sanded down in some places to achieve a tight fit, but oh well.

When did you buy yours? It shouldn't need anything like that

For those looking for a bolt together enclosure design I found this one on thingiverse. I contacted the guy to see if he was selling them and he said he couldn't because his design was too similar to MKelly's design and he couldn't get permission to sell them. So if you have access to a laser cutter here's a design ready to go. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:515889

ya. it's in this thread too. post #15. It's certainly a good alternative if you don't want to glue.

I really like the acrylic solution but I am curious, how is the foam board holding up in this application?

Holding up great. No issues with it so far. Hooks on when I need it, hooks off when I don't. Also easy to make mods when I add attachments that would otherwise get in the way of making a seal. I added a tool organizer that hangs off one side of the printer. Had to cut out a notch in the foam board so the cover would still fit. Quick and easy. Also helps with noise, I find.

@Todd Wessendorf do you happened to have the measurements of the pieces cut? like the ones with the clear plastic so you can see etc...
