Sep 22, 2016 9:35 PM - Eloy Viveros Nàvar: My printer stopped printing in 3 ocassions about 15-20 minutes after starting the work. The matter control log shows: Unable to comunicate with printer Status connection Lost - One of the plugged devices is not working
    Sep 23, 2016 4:18 AM - JeffTheMess: morning roboneers
    Sep 23, 2016 4:34 AM - daniel871: http://i.imgur.com/WsOtekL.gifv
Sep 23, 2016 4:53 AM - JeffTheMess: I guess robo isn't the only company having more than one kickstarters https://www.kickstarter.com/project...cked-3d-printer-for-improved-rel?ref=category
    Sep 23, 2016 5:01 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Sep 23, 2016 5:02 AM - JeffTheMess: morning bill
Sep 23, 2016 5:03 AM - daniel871: Yeah, the M3D kickstarter got a lot of flak when it launched as well.
Sep 23, 2016 5:03 AM - Bill Monroe: Hey Jeff, happy weekend eve
Sep 23, 2016 5:03 AM - danzca6: robos kickstarter is just a discount drive really...the money isn't for production costs
Sep 23, 2016 5:03 AM - daniel871: At least M3D used the same company profile for both kickstarters rather than creating an entirely new one.
Sep 23, 2016 5:04 AM - daniel871: That would be a believable rationalization if Robo had used their existing shop to offer a temporary run of preorders on their own website.
    Sep 23, 2016 5:04 AM - JeffTheMess: boom
Sep 23, 2016 5:05 AM - daniel871: You know, like how they did similar things for the various upgrade packages for the original R1 over the years.
    Sep 23, 2016 5:07 AM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
Sep 23, 2016 6:46 AM - danzca6: Bill is that the new wheel?
Sep 23, 2016 7:05 AM - Geof: Bill I am speechless at the overwhelming awesome of that picture !
Sep 23, 2016 8:26 AM - daniel871: Someone took that iPhone 7 headphone jack troll to the next level.
    Sep 23, 2016 9:43 AM - JeffTheMess: nice
Sep 23, 2016 10:25 AM - danzca6: haha...someone backed the R2 at the top price ($100 off retail) prior to the middle price offer ($200 off retai) was complete....too funny
Sep 23, 2016 10:27 AM - Geof: Some people don't mind spending money to help out :) ( wasn't me lol)
Sep 23, 2016 10:28 AM - danzca6: I wonder if this is the secret project Braydon mentioned where you can create a 3d model from a 2d drawing...prob not, but came out about the same time as their campaign. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/companje/doodle3d-transform-3d-design-made-easy?ref=discovery
Sep 23, 2016 10:28 AM - danzca6: so just a "robo take my money" move Geof?
Sep 23, 2016 10:29 AM - danzca6: I mean since the robo campaign is just a discount campaign and not for production costs, just seamed silly
Sep 23, 2016 10:31 AM - JeffTheMess: the whole thing is silly
Sep 23, 2016 10:31 AM - daniel871: Hey, if you believe the kickstarter wasn't to help offset production costs I have some breeding mules to sell you.
Sep 23, 2016 10:32 AM - danzca6: he says the c2 is in full production
Sep 23, 2016 10:32 AM - daniel871: I would believe that and issue a Youtube apology and review if they sent me one.
Sep 23, 2016 10:33 AM - danzca6: however, they can't give specifics on the electronics used yet because they haven't decided
    Sep 23, 2016 10:33 AM - daniel871: Same goes for the R2.
Sep 23, 2016 10:36 AM - danzca6: at least eric's kickstarter is going strong...been thinking of buying his upgrade kit and just using it on a V6 instead of his hotend
Sep 23, 2016 10:38 AM - daniel871: I'm still not sold on dual extrusion in the same hotend when all you gain is a color change.
Sep 23, 2016 10:39 AM - daniel871: Mostly because of how long it would take to change temperatures for the differing material types that work well in multi-material applications.
Sep 23, 2016 10:40 AM - Geof: Daniel if they sent you one wouldn't it just end up in the bin !? Lol
Sep 23, 2016 10:40 AM - daniel871: Given the history of their QC when sending stuff to where I live, maybe.
Sep 23, 2016 10:41 AM - Geof: Multi material at same temps is doable with the single hotend. Pla PVA, Petg ngen, etc
    Sep 23, 2016 10:41 AM - Geof: LOL
Sep 23, 2016 10:42 AM - daniel871: Multi-materials that would be useful in any practical way, Geof. Like one of the more rigid Nylon flavors in a frame with ninjaflex in the joints.
Sep 23, 2016 10:43 AM - Geof: That would be doable I'd think depending on the nylon. 220-250 for the flex and some nylons
Sep 23, 2016 10:43 AM - Geof: Could be wrong but if I am got the sigma ;-)
Sep 23, 2016 10:44 AM - daniel871: Most people gravitate to some mix of a standard colored PLA and a filled PLA when talking about this though, and PLA prints are mostly a waste of time if you're buying cheap filament to run through an expensive extrusion system.
Sep 23, 2016 10:44 AM - danzca6: Geof did you see the bigbox is going to be adopting the multi x axis like the sigma for their dual setup
Sep 23, 2016 10:44 AM - Geof: Lots of orders for 2 color pla that the system would help with capacity issues and pla PVA production runs
Sep 23, 2016 10:44 AM - Geof: I didn't see that. I gave up on the big box
Sep 23, 2016 10:45 AM - daniel871: Oh, so you bought some cheap chinese knockoff woodfill? Enjoy your clogged nozzle. :p
    Sep 23, 2016 10:45 AM - Geof: :p
Sep 23, 2016 10:45 AM - Geof: Lol no shortage of all types of filaments my friend
Sep 23, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: Some of the people on that delta kickstarter I backed are excited about the diamond hotend and the color mixing script the developers have been using in their concept prints.
Sep 23, 2016 10:46 AM - daniel871: They did an RGB input and did a shifting gradient print of the Empire State Building with it that looked neat, but beyond something very specific like that I'm not seeing the practical benefit.
Sep 23, 2016 10:47 AM - Geof: Danz you still pondering the big box ?
Sep 23, 2016 10:47 AM - danzca6: btw, who from robo is robolabs?
    Sep 23, 2016 10:47 AM - danzca6: I ponder a lot geof...afford little
    Sep 23, 2016 10:47 AM - Geof: I don't know who they are buddy
Sep 23, 2016 10:47 AM - daniel871: Good luck with the BigBox, someone was talking about how it was taken off the store for some reason.
Sep 23, 2016 10:48 AM - Geof: Lol I know that feeling buddy. To many awesome things
Sep 23, 2016 10:48 AM - danzca6: it was taken off for retooling and design to make keeping up with orders easier
Sep 23, 2016 10:48 AM - danzca6: they didn't want to have folks keep ordering when they were having troubles keeping up
Sep 23, 2016 10:48 AM - daniel871: Yeah, all that's up now are spare parts, you can't order an actual printer any more.
Sep 23, 2016 10:49 AM - daniel871: They should probably put that on the actual BigBox website instead of having a "Buy Now!" link that takes you to a page with no listings.
Sep 23, 2016 10:49 AM - danzca6: yeah...they have it in their forums and folks have said the same
    Sep 23, 2016 10:51 AM - daniel871: Hey, an entirely unrelated question. What's the OD of a typical ratchet/socket for a 7/16 hex?
Sep 23, 2016 10:52 AM - daniel871: I'm designing something that has to be assembled with clearance for a grease fitting to be installed on an internal part, and trying to figure out how big the hole needs to be to allow the socket to tighten the fitting into place.
    Sep 23, 2016 10:52 AM - danzca6: 1/4, 3/8, or 1/2 in socket?
Sep 23, 2016 10:53 AM - danzca6: I can go grab a 7/16 out of my toolbox if you want
    Sep 23, 2016 10:53 AM - danzca6: they are all craftsman
    Sep 23, 2016 10:53 AM - daniel871: That'll probably be a good ballpark to check against.
Sep 23, 2016 10:54 AM - daniel871: Right now I've got the hole at 3/4" diameter for clearance and I'm mostly just wanting to get an idea about whether it needs to actually be bigger than that.
Sep 23, 2016 10:54 AM - daniel871: It sucks when the people that are actually building the things you are designing have a better equipped manufacturing shop than you do.
Sep 23, 2016 10:55 AM - daniel871: If this was for something I was doing at home/whatever I could check my personal tools, but this is at work.
    Sep 23, 2016 10:56 AM - danzca6: 1/2" ratchet socket OD for my 7/16 is 22mm
Sep 23, 2016 10:56 AM - daniel871: Probably ought to just give it a 1" hole to be safe.
    Sep 23, 2016 10:57 AM - danzca6: 16.6mm for my 3/8" ratchet on the 7/16 socket
    Sep 23, 2016 10:57 AM - danzca6: prob so
    Sep 23, 2016 10:58 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
    Sep 23, 2016 10:58 AM - daniel871: There we go.
    Sep 23, 2016 11:01 AM - daniel871: Reinventing the wheel.
    Sep 23, 2016 11:02 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 23, 2016 11:02 AM - JeffTheMess: whats that for
Sep 23, 2016 11:03 AM - daniel871: It's part of a much larger assembly that I'm having to redesign because the guy that did it the first time around didn't put it together properly so that motion simulations could be run.
Sep 23, 2016 11:03 AM - JeffTheMess: ah ok cool
Sep 23, 2016 11:05 AM - daniel871: It's basically a lifting jack, but with coarse threads in it for positioning other parts of the assembly and leaving them where positioned.
Sep 23, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: BTW, parts are back online for purchase
    Sep 23, 2016 11:05 AM - danzca6: only 2 things in stock though
Sep 23, 2016 11:07 AM - daniel871: My goal for today in going through and redesigning these sub-assemblies is to have something that can basically be inserted into a design project like a template and adjusted without breaking everything in other projects where the same basic subassembly was used.
Sep 23, 2016 11:08 AM - daniel871: My predecessor was creating endless configurations in Solidworks and it eventually got to the point where the database Solidworks uses couldn't keep track of what configuration was used where any more.
Sep 23, 2016 11:09 AM - JeffTheMess: gotta be organized with models
Sep 23, 2016 11:10 AM - daniel871: Also gotta make the relationships between the models as simple as possible.
Sep 23, 2016 11:11 AM - daniel871: Or the minimum/most efficient number of mates to hold an assembly together properly that way you can make positioning adjustments without causing a cascade of errors when you insert a sub-assembly as Flexible.
Sep 23, 2016 11:17 AM - daniel871: I've basically got it set up now where the upper/adjusting portion of that particular lifting assembly will always have the same parts, and only the base/outer support tube will change, since the adjustment range we want is always the same and all that changes is the distance between the mounting point and the reference surface we want to adjust to/from.
Sep 23, 2016 11:18 AM - daniel871: Now to do the same thing to the horizontal adjusters that attach to this vertical lifting assembly.
Sep 23, 2016 12:02 PM - daniel871: Hey danzca, here's one of those post-mod Wanhao i3s if you want one that someone has already done all of the work to. http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/282190267561
Sep 23, 2016 12:03 PM - daniel871: Guy claims he doesn't have time for his hobby any more since he's got a kid, so there you go.
    Sep 23, 2016 12:04 PM - danzca6: nice
    Sep 23, 2016 12:05 PM - danzca6: thanks...I'll ponder it
Sep 23, 2016 1:00 PM - Bill Monroe: Dan, those are the old wheels. I was going to make one slightly larger for the left side so I could fit my ipad mini on it but as it turns out, it would block too much stuff. I think I'll be just strapping it to my leg as I do with the chartbook.
Sep 23, 2016 7:09 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys, going to print a vase tomorrow. Any thought as to what settings I should use/change. never printed one before
Sep 23, 2016 7:54 PM - danzca6: Do you want it to hold water?
Sep 23, 2016 8:20 PM - danzca6: Never realized crutchfield sold Robo stuff... They even have these usb packs with themes models I've never seen anywhere else. http://www.crutchfield.com/shopsearch/Robo_3D.html
Sep 23, 2016 8:35 PM - Geof: Kookie never heard of them but i lead a sheltered life lol
    Sep 23, 2016 8:46 PM - danzca6: Never heard of crutchfield?
    Sep 23, 2016 8:58 PM - Geof: No sir

Sep 24, 2016 4:55 AM - danzca6: Well you should. They supply most of my electronics I buy for my house or cars. They were the first to define great customer service for me. Good stuff.
    Sep 24, 2016 5:28 AM - Toro1966: MOrning D
Sep 24, 2016 5:29 AM - Toro1966: Trying the first vase print. Will let you know how it comes out. Using inland Green PETG
Sep 24, 2016 5:32 AM - danzca6: Nice... Good luck. I know others have said the print comes out nice but won't hold water
Sep 24, 2016 6:21 AM - Toro1966: Wondering about that as well. Worst case, my wife will use for fake flowers or something.
    Sep 24, 2016 6:21 AM - Toro1966: I'll still get brownie points for making it :)
Sep 24, 2016 6:39 AM - Geof: Give it a shot. The worst issue i had was fmgwtring the bottom layers to hold water but i only did vase mode with large bore test nozzles
Sep 24, 2016 6:39 AM - Geof: Was getting *** good lord lol
    Sep 24, 2016 6:57 AM - Toro1966: Lol.
Sep 24, 2016 6:58 AM - Toro1966: It's going now - was printing slow so I bumped it up on LCD. Looking pretty good so far.
Sep 24, 2016 7:01 AM - Toro1966: What do you think I can make the max extruder width on the vase? I have it at .6 now (.4 nozzle). Would like to make it a little thicker, but not sure how high is safe
    Sep 24, 2016 7:04 AM - Geof: If i need a wider extrusion width i use a larger nozzle :)
Sep 24, 2016 7:42 AM - Toro1966: Good point. Might have to buy som . Which width do you recommend?
Sep 24, 2016 8:08 AM - Toro1966: Hey guys - what's the verdic ton using parts fans with PETG?
Sep 24, 2016 8:14 AM - Toro1966: I might need to slow it down as well. I am printing a vase with esun PETG and it looks pretty nice, but I am noticing in a few of the outside edges, it is somewhat rough and not as smooth as the rest of the print. Does that mean I should slow the speed down? Should I turn off the fans?
Sep 24, 2016 11:27 AM - Geof: I use fans at about 30% but in theory you dont need them. All about what works for your enviroment
Sep 24, 2016 12:55 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. I slowed the print back down and quality is back up - so I think that is my variable. I have the fans on at abut 75%, but I am not sure they are helping or hurting.
    Sep 24, 2016 12:56 PM - Toro1966: I guess I'll find out when the print's done! :)
Sep 24, 2016 1:49 PM - Geof: :D story of our lives haha
Sep 24, 2016 8:32 PM - Toro1966: Doesn't hold water, but cam eout nice. Wife is going to use it for a pencil holder.
    Sep 24, 2016 8:33 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]

    Sep 24, 2016 8:40 PM - danzca6: looks great

Sep 24, 2016 9:25 PM - Toro1966: Need to install my e3d so I can print that stuff
    Sep 25, 2016 6:16 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
Sep 25, 2016 6:19 AM - Geof: Toro if itnleaka out the bottom i have cheated with a solder iron to reflow the layers :) use a crappy one and "weld it" :)
Sep 25, 2016 7:20 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof! Just got a big clog using yellow pETG - same brand as the green. Not sure why it clogged. Was prinitng fine when I went to bed. Woke up with aclog and it printing in the air...
    Sep 25, 2016 7:20 AM - Toro1966: What a PITA!
    Sep 25, 2016 7:50 AM - danzca6: In my experience...green and yellow just doesn't go together...but then again I live near chicago
    Sep 25, 2016 7:53 AM - teknoprep: is it possible to setup mesh-leveling on the robo3D ?
    Sep 25, 2016 8:04 AM - danzca6: yes...view the thread on Marlin 1.1.0 RC7
Sep 25, 2016 8:14 AM - teknoprep: what versino of marlin do we run now ?
Sep 25, 2016 8:17 AM - teknoprep: i am reading through this but the git repo doesn't exist anymore http://community.robo3d.com/index.p...-1-0-release-candidate-7-for-r1-r1-plus.5806/
Sep 25, 2016 8:58 AM - danzca6: Stock Marlin for Robo is based off of 1.0.0. look at the end of the thread. He just uploaded newer versions for you to download.
Sep 25, 2016 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: I dont use leveling of any kind
Sep 25, 2016 9:01 AM - Geof: Hi danzca welcome back ! Get that maker battery charged up yesterday ? What ya making today!
Sep 25, 2016 9:01 AM - Bill Monroe: I just leveled and trammed the machine.. viola, no software "leveling" required :)
Sep 25, 2016 9:02 AM - Geof: I still rock a manually leveled print bed then run the auto dance for funsies i suppose lol
Sep 25, 2016 9:04 AM - Bill Monroe: thing is, no leveling actually occurs.. just some software compensation that yields distorted parts..
Sep 25, 2016 9:04 AM - Bill Monroe: of course.. if all you make is toys and vases.. doesnt really matter I guess
    Sep 25, 2016 9:06 AM - Geof: Isnt everything a toy :)
Sep 25, 2016 9:06 AM - Bill Monroe: well, if you think that, for you I guess it's true :)
    Sep 25, 2016 9:06 AM - Geof: Lol:D
Sep 25, 2016 9:07 AM - Bill Monroe: i use my printers for making examples of mechanical mechanisms, ultimate for customer approvals.. mine make me money :)
Sep 25, 2016 9:09 AM - Geof: Thats great ! I run jobs on all mine pretty regularly but my robo was only bought to print replacement parts for pachinko machines (cant buy parts). So a tool for toys :)
Sep 25, 2016 9:10 AM - Geof: The others are for capacity and the dual material for funsies to tinker with.
Sep 25, 2016 9:37 AM - danzca6: Hey Geof... Working off a Maker faire hangover today. Working on cleaning out my shop. Need more room for some chairs I'm building.
    Sep 25, 2016 9:41 AM - Geof: Sounds like a rough day
Sep 25, 2016 9:45 AM - danzca6: No not really... Just those things that need to get done
Sep 25, 2016 9:45 AM - danzca6: Where did you get your roll of copper filament from VF?
Sep 25, 2016 10:01 AM - Geof: Shop i help out at gave it to me :'
    Sep 25, 2016 10:01 AM - Geof: :)
Sep 25, 2016 10:02 AM - Geof: They biught 2 spools for their stacker 3d but had jamming issues
    Sep 25, 2016 10:04 AM - danzca6: Interesting
Sep 25, 2016 10:05 AM - danzca6: Did you have any issues printing it on the Robo
Sep 25, 2016 10:09 AM - Geof: Not really. Hardened nozzle and higher temps
Sep 25, 2016 10:10 AM - Geof: Slow was the big key. I dont think i went over 30mm/s (half normal speed)
Sep 25, 2016 10:11 AM - danzca6: See they said there was no need for a hardened nozzle and they print just with brass nozzles... Seemed a bit odd to me
Sep 25, 2016 10:12 AM - Geof: Thats what the guys told me as well but in my opinion it wasnt worth wearing out a nozzle or to risk it. :D
    Sep 25, 2016 10:14 AM - danzca6: Yeah...I think I'll get a .5 hardened nozzle
Sep 25, 2016 10:15 AM - Geof: You could always try it on a brass. 100g prolly wouldnt hurt it but having some hardened nozzlesare great imo
Sep 25, 2016 3:09 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - stringy PETG + too hot or too cool? Normally I would think too hot but I thought I heard PETG was the opposite
Sep 25, 2016 3:18 PM - danzca6: Vague memory of the same thing but never used it
Sep 25, 2016 3:23 PM - Toro1966: Thanks D. Think I might be overextruding a little as well as I am getting a booger on the ned while it's printing.
    Sep 25, 2016 3:23 PM - Toro1966: end
Sep 25, 2016 3:23 PM - Toro1966: I reduced the flow to 96%. We'll see if that fixes it. I am only prinitng at 220 and it extrudes nice and fast at that speed.
Sep 25, 2016 4:02 PM - Toro1966: So for grins I checked on the price of a Raise 3D Printer. The price didn't bother me - the fact that they wanted $360 for ground shipping from CA was absolutely ridiculous. Won't be getting one of those anytime soon.
Sep 25, 2016 4:23 PM - Geof: 360 shipping isnt bad. Call them maybe they will work out a deal. Alot of money for a dual extruder thats much similar.to.the rest
Sep 25, 2016 4:43 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof - separate question - just got my second Jam trying to print with this new roll of inland PETG. Just opened tonight. Extrudes fine. Makes it about an hour and then whammo - starts printing int he air because of a jam. Any idea what the issue could be?
Sep 25, 2016 5:13 PM - Geof: Whats your set up? Hexagon?
Sep 25, 2016 5:42 PM - danzca6: Yes he hasn't upgraded to his v6 on the counter yet I think
Sep 25, 2016 5:45 PM - Toro1966: Yes - that's correct - sorry had my hands deep in the hotend. I think I might be printing too low a temp, but I thought the proper temp was th eone that would extrude nicely, and lower temps are doing that. Think I might have found a micro clog I did not remove after the first one. That might have caused it,
Sep 25, 2016 5:48 PM - Toro1966: What's the right answer for temp? Again - it was extruding nicely at 215. So I don't know why that would have clogged it
Sep 25, 2016 5:55 PM - Toro1966: Just put on a new nozzle, cleared the jam and tried it at 240. I think that's a bit high since it starts to gather around the nozzle when it extrudes before finally falling.
Sep 25, 2016 6:03 PM - Toro1966: 215 extrudes nicely and is pretty close to 100mm in calibration. Slightly over extruding (104/100).
Sep 25, 2016 6:03 PM - Toro1966: Also switched filaments to inland blue petg just in case there is an issue with the yellow.
Sep 25, 2016 6:03 PM - Toro1966: Going to try the same print in blue.
Sep 25, 2016 6:04 PM - Toro1966: Have to level again for the new nozzle since it is slightly longer than the original.
Sep 25, 2016 6:41 PM - Geof: Ill be honest in my opinion i dont like inland stuff. It extrudes wierd for my set up. But seems hot and more clean up. Increase temp. Try 230
Sep 25, 2016 7:09 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof. I have never had a problem with inland - in fact - that's almost all I've been using and get great prints. In fact, I just used the green the other day. Most of their filaments require less heat than most. That said, just tried the blue @215 and sure enough - jam!!!!
Sep 25, 2016 7:10 PM - Toro1966: Going to try at 230 or 235 but I am going to have to change my esteps - because at 240, it is over extruding. I suppose I could adjust the extrusion multiplier. What's your recommendation?
Sep 25, 2016 7:35 PM - Toro1966: Is low temp generally the main reason for clogging?

Sep 26, 2016 4:10 AM - daniel871: esteps shouldn't change once initially calibrated, mainly because when calibrating that you measure what gets pulled into extruder, not what comes out.
Sep 26, 2016 4:11 AM - daniel871: So you either adjust the extrusion multiplier *or* you adjust the retraction settings for materials that ooze more/whatever as you play with temperatures.
Sep 26, 2016 4:12 AM - daniel871: Or you say "fuck it" and activate the Ooze Shield option in Simplify3D and make it the vertical curtain option.
    Sep 26, 2016 6:33 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Sep 26, 2016 7:43 AM - daniel871: [IMG]
Sep 26, 2016 8:15 AM - Toro1966: Thanks Daniel - one issue I am having is that I have calibrated my extrduer (esteps) properly for PLA at 195 because that is what I print most commonly. That said, the amount of filament pulled into the extrduer will change depending on filament and temp printed. So when you print PETG at 240 - it extrudes more than it would for the PLA at 195.
Sep 26, 2016 8:17 AM - Toro1966: So based on what you are saying, I would reduce the multiplier for the PETG based on what it is actually pulling into the extruder - correct? I.e. PLA at 195 extrudes 100 when I click on 100. For PETG at 240, it extrudes 110 so it is overextruding.
Sep 26, 2016 8:20 AM - daniel871: Temperature of the hotend has nothing to do with the amount of filament your extruder pulls with a given number of esteps. How much your extruder pulls with a given number of esteps should be the same no matter what material it is.
Sep 26, 2016 8:20 AM - daniel871: Many people calibrate their extruder without having the hotend installed just to eliminate the issue of having to have it heated to the proper temperature to feed the filament.
Sep 26, 2016 8:22 AM - daniel871: (also so that they can just retract the filament and use it in an actual print later instead of wasting several hundred millimeters of filament just getting the motor calibrated)
Sep 26, 2016 8:23 AM - daniel871: The entire point of calibrating the motor so that 100mm in the program on the extrusion value = 100mm actually pushed into the hotend is so that your slicer can accurately determine how much filament to feed your hotend for a given nozzle diameter and movement traversed.
Sep 26, 2016 8:25 AM - daniel871: The reason you have retraction, extrusion multipliers and all the myriad other options in your slicer is so you can try to compensate for the behavior of different filament spools.
Sep 26, 2016 8:38 AM - Toro1966: Ok - I hear you - but that's not how it's working. I have used calipers and measured and it does indeed push out a different amount of filament depending on temperature and filament. That said - I think I understand what you mean and removing the hotend would seem to be the ONLY way to calibrate it so that temp and filament don't affect calibration. The problem is that the videos that are touted as the ones we should use for calibrating
Sep 26, 2016 8:38 AM - Toro1966: the extruder have a hotend and heated to temp.
Sep 26, 2016 9:00 AM - Toro1966: Also - how do you extrude without heating the hotend? Most programs will not let you extrude when not up to temp.
Sep 26, 2016 9:04 AM - daniel871: I would have the hotend wired and and off to one side hanging in the quick-release clamp back when I had a Robo.
Sep 26, 2016 9:04 AM - daniel871: For my current printer, I just disabled the minimum temperature for extruding feature.
Sep 26, 2016 9:05 AM - daniel871: Also, in those videos, all measurements are taken from the entrance of the extruder, not the hotend nozzle/exit.
Sep 26, 2016 9:06 AM - Toro1966: Cool - thanks! Going to try that when I get home this evening. Not sure why I keep getting these clogs with PETG
Sep 26, 2016 9:07 AM - daniel871: I've only ever had a clog with PETG when the temp got too low for whatever reason.
Sep 26, 2016 9:07 AM - Toro1966: Printed a vase out fine with green PETG (Inland) at 215 and it printed perfectly. Switched to Yellow and then Blue PETG (Inland as well) and both clogged at 215 and 220.
    Sep 26, 2016 9:08 AM - Toro1966: Going to try 230 tonight I think.
    Sep 26, 2016 9:12 AM - daniel871: Unless I was going super-slow, I've never had any luck with PETG below about 235.
Sep 26, 2016 9:13 AM - daniel871: Got an Adalinda printing overnight last night that I'll check on after I get home from work to see how it did.
    Sep 26, 2016 9:13 AM - daniel871: In that blue Makergeeks PETG.
Sep 26, 2016 9:30 AM - Toro1966: Cool. How do you manage stringing at that temp with PETG?
    Sep 26, 2016 9:30 AM - Toro1966: More extraction?
Sep 26, 2016 9:32 AM - Toro1966: what settings are you using? I was printing at .2 and at between 30mm and 50mm/s
Sep 26, 2016 9:43 AM - Toro1966: Was just looking at that Makergeeks PETG. Looks nice. Might have to try some!
Sep 26, 2016 10:16 AM - daniel871: I'm still dialing things in (hence the really long Adalinda model print to test things) but so far I've slowed things down to 20mm/s print speed at .2mm layer height and activated the Ooze Shield option in Simplify3D after some folks on another forum talked about using that to help with filaments that are bad about oozing that simple retraction settings aren't very good at dealing with.
Sep 26, 2016 10:18 AM - daniel871: And I'm less concerned with colors because I go for that "get spools in random colors for $15 per spool if you buy four of them" sale they've been running.
    Sep 26, 2016 10:18 AM - daniel871: http://www.makergeeks.com/mafigrbag2kg.html
Sep 26, 2016 10:18 AM - daniel871: Get that in the cart twice for the $15/spool price.
Sep 26, 2016 1:14 PM - Toro1966: Excellent. Going to try that! Thanks.
    Sep 26, 2016 1:17 PM - Toro1966: What colors have you received?
    Sep 26, 2016 3:24 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - have some flow/extrusion multiplier questions. Anyone up?
Sep 26, 2016 3:50 PM - Geof: Hey toro whats up buddy
Sep 26, 2016 3:51 PM - Toro1966: Hey Geof. Started a thread because I am an impatient SOB :) Here it is :http://community.robo3d.com/index.php?threads/petg-print-issues.9317/
Sep 26, 2016 4:07 PM - Geof: Thats the best way to do it :). Responded with my opinions
    Sep 26, 2016 4:13 PM - Toro1966: LOl. Thanks brother!
Sep 26, 2016 4:14 PM - Toro1966: I have calibrated my extruder a couple of times but for PLA and at 195. The problem is that PETG at 230 overextrdues at the current esteps. Daniel recommended I recalibrate WITHOUT The hotend installed to get the baseline.
Sep 26, 2016 4:16 PM - Geof: Meh. Lol. I do it with the hotend in and dont have issues. If your going to print petg all the time, recalibrate for petg or figure out what settings work the best and write them down :D
Sep 26, 2016 4:17 PM - Toro1966: I can definitely do that. I don't print with PETG all the time, but probably about 30% of the time. I think I like the find the settings fro PETG and write them down idea :)
Sep 26, 2016 4:18 PM - Toro1966: I am trying to find out if the flow is as you mentioned - i.e. 100 is 100% of the 96 I set. Right now I turned the flow down in the LCD to 94. No more boogers.
    Sep 26, 2016 4:18 PM - Toro1966: But that's probably 94% of 96...
Sep 26, 2016 4:23 PM - Geof: Id imagine so yes. At least thats what i think :-D
Sep 26, 2016 4:29 PM - Toro1966: So another dumb question then - if this works, with respect to extrusion, I should just be able to set S3D extrusion multiplier to about 91 - correct (94% of 96)
Sep 26, 2016 4:30 PM - Geof: Yes. It would seem that way.
Sep 26, 2016 4:31 PM - Toro1966: Geof - what do you have your retraction settings at? And do you have any of the retraction settings in the advanced tab checked?
Sep 26, 2016 4:32 PM - Toro1966: I am getting tired of these prints coming out like they have the mumps - no matter what filament I use...
    Sep 26, 2016 4:35 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Sep 26, 2016 4:36 PM - Toro1966: [IMG]
    Sep 26, 2016 4:44 PM - Geof: Mumps ?
    Sep 26, 2016 4:53 PM - Toro1966: bumps/zits
    Sep 26, 2016 4:53 PM - Geof: Pm me a few pictures.
    Sep 26, 2016 5:18 PM - Toro1966: Will do. Thanks!
Sep 26, 2016 8:06 PM - daniel871: The reason I told Toro to leave the hotend out was because they were measuring the nozzle output and not the cold end intake when calibrating esteps.
Sep 26, 2016 8:09 PM - daniel871: Extruding over/under is set with the Extrusion multiplier in your slicer, fucking around with esteps because one material oozes more than another is a nightmare proposition that introduces too much inaccuracy when slicing.

Sep 27, 2016 at 5:16 AM - daniel871: The biggest reasons Cura or Slic3r don't work for people usually go back to the person in question not setting the software up correctly during installation (or they still have MatterControl on their PC, which has a history of not playing nice with other slicers, especially in cases where the software is still active in the background while testing another slicer).

Sep 27, 2016 at 7:23 AM - daniel871: Going alright other than work experiencing an odd slowdown so that I have time to think about how aggravating last night's debate was.
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:24 AM - daniel871: We need a mechanism for telling the main parties to scrap their candidates and trying again. Too many people voted with a "lesser of the available evils" or "Fuck it, burn it all to the ground" mentality for the two main parties.
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:51 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah I wish it was that easy to do
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:06 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: hey guys. quick question. I am ordering some new filament today. Most of my parts are being used in our manufacturing production facility so I need them fairly durable and PLA just isn't cutting it. Any suggestions?
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:11 AM - JeffTheMess: carbon fiber
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:12 AM - daniel871: How durable do you actually need? Is it a wear issue? Impact resistance? Temperature resistance?
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:13 AM - daniel871: Try to find a spool of Taulman's Nylon 230 or Alloy 910 and print something in that. That's about the best thing this side of going full carbon fiber and dealing with the issues that presents in wearing out your hotend.
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:14 AM - Geof: Taulman 910 is pretty durable. Throw out a thread to get myltiple opinions. Make sure to state the needs. Temp, durability, etc.
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:28 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: impact resistance mostly. Some heat involved (welding/grinding/etc). Wear is an issue with a few as well
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:29 AM - Ryan TeGantvoort: with the taulman am I going to need a different nozzle (hardened)
    Sep 27, 2016 at 8:35 AM - JeffTheMess: wouldn't hurt
Sep 27, 2016 at 8:40 AM - daniel871: It wouldn't hurt, but the various Nylon flavors of Taulman aren't anywhere near as abrasive as even your filled-PLA filaments. The "3d printer cleaning filament" is just Nylon filament with a coarse surface to the extrusion.
    Sep 27, 2016 at 8:48 AM - daniel871: Here, have some nightmares.

Sep 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: SAP worked but was a nightmare to use
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: JDEdwards was best
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM - nonmindo: I think SAP is part of oracle now
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM - Bill Monroe: the other way around
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:19 PM - nonmindo: ahh
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - nonmindo: i knew there was some merger a while back, i think about 4 or 5 years ago
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - nonmindo: maybe a little older even
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Bill Monroe: i'm out of all that now... winding down to retirement
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - nonmindo: hey, im sure you put in your time and deserve that retirement though
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Bill Monroe: 4 more years :)
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - nonmindo: i like it here, but im still just a contractor, an essential services contractor, but still a contractor
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:20 PM - Bill Monroe: gotta get #2 son through college
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - nonmindo: the lowly grey badge
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - nonmindo: heck yea, thats important
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - nonmindo: i kinda regret not going to college
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Bill Monroe: i toured the military shop up there years ago
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - nonmindo: but at the same time, i dont want a house morgage for student loan lol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - Bill Monroe: made rocket guidance systems PCBs
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:21 PM - nonmindo: oh nice!
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:22 PM - nonmindo: im not even sure where all the BDS stuff is right now
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:22 PM - nonmindo: i know they are doing the P8 i think in renton still
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:22 PM - nonmindo: or maybe it was evt
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:22 PM - nonmindo: they've compartmentalized us from BDS pretty well
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:22 PM - Bill Monroe: dunno.. I just remember flying into SEATAC and it was cold and wet
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:22 PM - nonmindo: yep, sounds like seatac
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:23 PM - nonmindo: hell sometimes it can be 80 and dry, but still cold and wet at seatac
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:23 PM - nonmindo: i think its on some convergence zone or something
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:23 PM - Bill Monroe: :)
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:24 PM - nonmindo: if you're ever up in the area, should send me a message on here, i'd love to come down and take a look at your plane, ive never really been up close and personal with a smaller craft
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: seriously?
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:24 PM - nonmindo: and of course, meet you in person, thats also important lol
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:24 PM - nonmindo: yea, I;ve never flown
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:24 PM - Bill Monroe: go to the airport and tell them you want to take a "first flying lesson"
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - nonmindo: might do that
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - nonmindo: seatac or any airport, Renton municipal is near me
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - Bill Monroe: youve never flown at all?
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - nonmindo: nope
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - nonmindo: ol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - nonmindo: never been on a train either
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:25 PM - nonmindo: lol*
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:26 PM - Bill Monroe: ok then.. just tell them you that.. they'll treat you nice
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:26 PM - nonmindo: I'm not very traveled, I've been out of the state a hand full of times to Canada and Portland, via car, thats about it
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:26 PM - Bill Monroe: Renton.. not Seatac.. you want a small airport
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:26 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:26 PM - nonmindo: I'm hoping there is a "friends and family" tour at the reontom plant soon
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:26 PM - nonmindo: Renton*
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:27 PM - Bill Monroe: hold on
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:27 PM - nonmindo: k
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:28 PM - Bill Monroe:
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:29 PM - nonmindo: yikes, a little low on fuel there lol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: naw.. when running on one of the mains the AUX always says zero
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:30 PM - Bill Monroe: 3 tanks.. 20 gal each
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:31 PM - nonmindo: ahh ok
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:32 PM - Bill Monroe: here's a short one:
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:32 PM - nonmindo: not sure if its just cause of the video or not, but that actually seems a bit more quieter than i would expect for a smaller craft in the cabin
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:33 PM - nonmindo: oh neat, take off and landing gear retraction
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:33 PM - Bill Monroe: my wife says it's like sharing a phonebooth with a running lawnmower :)
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:33 PM - nonmindo: I've recently just gotten excited about this kinda stuff lol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:33 PM - nonmindo: hahahahaha thats probably accurate
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: in 1959 nobody cared about hearing damage I guess
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:34 PM - Bill Monroe: i wear earplugs and a noise cancelling headset
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:34 PM - nonmindo: do you use the plane a lot to commute or mainly just for the mind
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:35 PM - nonmindo: that is a lot of silencing items lol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:35 PM - Bill Monroe: I use it to get between my san diego home and my joshua tree place, to se my daughter in the bay area, my son in Arizona...
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: and to get the $100 bacon and eggs from various airport cafes in Socal
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:36 PM - nonmindo: thats....an expensive bacon and eggs
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: NOW it's full-on IFR so, more flights
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:36 PM - nonmindo: nice!
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:36 PM - Bill Monroe: well the eggs a $5.. the rest is for gas :)
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:37 PM - nonmindo: i was thinking that and was just gonna ask about how much a fill up is
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:37 PM - nonmindo: that doesnt seem too terrible for cost to fill up, but then again, i have no clue how much fuel gets you how far
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:37 PM - Bill Monroe: gas is right a $5.50/gal right now. the plane uses 12 gal/hr and goes an average of 185 mph
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:38 PM - nonmindo: so its still more economical than buying a charter ticket from like seattle to portland for $100
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:38 PM - Bill Monroe: oh no.. commerical is way cheaper
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:38 PM - nonmindo: oh really?
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:38 PM - nonmindo: interesting
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:39 PM - Bill Monroe: oh wait.. i dunno how far those towns are apart
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:39 PM - nonmindo: its about a 2 hour drive
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:39 PM - nonmindo: @ 70mpf
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:39 PM - nonmindo: mph*
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:39 PM - Bill Monroe: cost me $75 round trip between homes.. 240 to the bay area
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:40 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. small plane cheaper, for gas anyway.
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:40 PM - nonmindo: one of my life goals is to get licensed for as many htings as possible
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:40 PM - nonmindo: might look into getting pilots license
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:40 PM - Bill Monroe: it's more fun though.. and it's a chick magnet
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:41 PM - nonmindo: hehehe
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:41 PM - nonmindo: we all know i need a magnet to attract these girls lol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:41 PM - Bill Monroe: seriously
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:41 PM - Bill Monroe: it's how I met 2.0
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:41 PM - nonmindo: nice, thats gotta make for some good stories
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:41 PM - nonmindo: i mean the plane itself prolly does that all by itself
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:43 PM - nonmindo: ol
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:43 PM - nonmindo: well then

Sep 27, 2016 at 7:46 PM - nonmindo: depending on the car shows they attend
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:46 PM - nonmindo: I mostly attend import shows, dad on the other hand hits up the good guys show every eyar
    Sep 27, 2016 at 7:47 PM - nonmindo: year*
Sep 27, 2016 at 7:47 PM - Bill Monroe: they go all over.. hard to tell where they're going to be sometimes

Sep 28, 2016 7:07 AM - danzca6: The man is a genius...he is more about function than form...some put their bells and whistles in front of their quality of product and the quality of the prints
Sep 28, 2016 7:10 AM - danzca6: and the price he sells his printers at is insane for how well they work
Sep 28, 2016 9:01 AM - daniel871: The only thing that kills me are the people on Facebook groups that just don't understand why his design is not the same as the knock off $300 kits they keep talking about.
Sep 28, 2016 9:31 AM - daniel871: Also people that show a staggering lack of reading comprehension when they say things like "The article does not explain a thing clearly explained if I bothered to read the article".

Sep 28, 2016 11:06 AM - WayUpNorthMN: Im...just done. So, I was having all these problems with these new 8mm lead screws, you name it: bed leveling, over extrusion problems, anything. After reassembly a few times (and a few curse words here and there), I checked my firmware again, and my Z Steps per MM were only set to half of their required amount. Changed it, and it worked flawlessly. *facedesk* *facedesk* *facedesk*

    Sep 29, 2016 12:14 PM - danzca6: Jason! How are you?
    Sep 29, 2016 12:48 PM - JasonSolves: doing great
    Sep 29, 2016 12:48 PM - JasonSolves: keeping super busy @ work
Sep 29, 2016 12:49 PM - JasonSolves: the R1 is working well. even got nijaFlex working
Sep 29, 2016 12:52 PM - JasonSolves: Decided to print my printer some feet, and figured nijaflex would be cool
Sep 29, 2016 12:53 PM - danzca6: nice...I haven't used ninjaflex yet. I have a roll of semi flex ready to go though
Sep 29, 2016 12:54 PM - JasonSolves: I had to use a long PTFE tube
Sep 29, 2016 12:54 PM - JasonSolves: and print super slow and it is still stringgy
Sep 29, 2016 12:54 PM - danzca6: are you using the stock hex hotend or have you upgraded
    Sep 29, 2016 12:55 PM - JasonSolves: E3dv6
Sep 29, 2016 12:55 PM - JasonSolves: that was the silver bullet for me
Sep 29, 2016 12:55 PM - JasonSolves: everything works perfect after I go that
    Sep 29, 2016 12:56 PM - danzca6: that's amazing what a diff a hotend can make
Sep 29, 2016 12:56 PM - JasonSolves: so in reality it is (hot end, thermister and heater)
Sep 29, 2016 12:59 PM - danzca6: been looking at the robo kickstarter?
    Sep 29, 2016 1:15 PM - JasonSolves: yes indeed
Sep 29, 2016 1:16 PM - JasonSolves: was looking to upgrade at some point anyway. I know there are other printers, that might be "better" but I would rather go with a company that I know
Sep 29, 2016 1:16 PM - JasonSolves: they look like they have done some real engineering on this one
Sep 29, 2016 2:46 PM - Toro1966: With the new multi color extruders, the Prusa is looking better than ever!
    Sep 29, 2016 3:31 PM - daniel871: That multi-Prusa does indeed look pretty sweet.
Sep 29, 2016 3:41 PM - Geof: Im interested to see what all these multicolor/single hotends do. Having 2 seperate extruders is great...but holy calibration.
    Sep 29, 2016 5:13 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys, quick E3DV6 install question
Sep 29, 2016 5:14 PM - Toro1966: I need to hook up the new heater, thermistor, and fan. Is there any reason I can't simply attach JST connections to the ned of those and plug them in to where the stock ones are now? Then I wouldn't even need to crack open the bottom.
Sep 29, 2016 5:14 PM - Toro1966: Just wanted to know if that would work.
Sep 29, 2016 5:28 PM - Geof: Yes that would work fine.
Sep 29, 2016 5:28 PM - Geof: The issue is the e3d thermistor still requires a firmware change, dont forget :)
Sep 29, 2016 5:38 PM - danzca6: Toro, you can just use the thermistor and heat cartridge from the hex and no firmware change needed...if you have the R1+ with the cartridge thermistor and you have a new E3D with the cartridge thermistor block
Sep 29, 2016 5:40 PM - Toro1966: Thans guys. I appreciate that. I might actually go with a different heater because I bought some 40W heaters. I do have an extra Robo thermistor, so I may just go with that one. If I do that, do I still have to do PID autotune?
Sep 29, 2016 5:41 PM - danzca6: +1 on the 40w heater cartridge and probably a good idea to do a PID anyway but probably not as necessary
Sep 29, 2016 5:42 PM - Toro1966: The last two times I printed I was getting a temp fall error. I assume bad connection or thermistor because there were no fans on to cool it too much.
    Sep 29, 2016 5:53 PM - Geof: 40 watt= more power !!! Good thing.
Sep 29, 2016 5:54 PM - Geof: Danz sigma is going dual Titan e3d p. Order goes in next week
Sep 29, 2016 5:55 PM - Toro1966: I bought some JST connectors so I think I am going to use the stock connections at the extruder and the new 40W heater, new fan, but Robo thermistor. One less splice I have to do as well :)
Sep 29, 2016 5:58 PM - Geof: Good way to do it buddy
    Sep 29, 2016 7:25 PM - danzca6: Dual Titans... Nice
    Sep 29, 2016 7:28 PM - Geof: Yessir plus going from 3mm to 1.75 :)
    Sep 29, 2016 7:28 PM - Geof: Double victory
Sep 29, 2016 7:34 PM - danzca6: Yeah 3mm is interesting... Not sure why that isn't an option from the factory
    Sep 29, 2016 7:34 PM - danzca6: I guess 3mm might be a bit better with Bowden
Sep 29, 2016 7:36 PM - danzca6: So you buying all new PTFE tubing
Sep 29, 2016 7:37 PM - Bill Monroe: good evening
    Sep 29, 2016 7:39 PM - danzca6: Evening
Sep 29, 2016 7:41 PM - danzca6: Saw a couple Tormach machines at the Milwaukee maker faire
    Sep 29, 2016 7:41 PM - danzca6: I didn't realize they are out of Madison
Sep 29, 2016 7:42 PM - danzca6: Might go to their open house next year
Sep 29, 2016 7:42 PM - Bill Monroe: I still dont know of anyone here beside me that has one.. except for one in a makerplace that oly the clique can use....
Sep 29, 2016 7:44 PM - danzca6: Not a bad machine at all... Guy there was making dinner near stuff had kids running the ops for him
Sep 29, 2016 7:45 PM - danzca6: Do you have their tool changer
Sep 29, 2016 7:45 PM - Bill Monroe: i was engrav ing key fobs last night
Sep 29, 2016 7:47 PM - danzca6: They had a 440 doing engraving... They were making dog tags with it
Sep 29, 2016 7:47 PM - Bill Monroe: I've been thinking about getting a 10W laser and making a holder for it from the quill, use it to mark the parts I make aftr anodizing
Sep 29, 2016 7:47 PM - Bill Monroe: ya, kinda the same thing... but a 440 is soooo tiny
    Sep 29, 2016 7:48 PM - danzca6: Yeah seeing the 440 next to the 1100 was a bit of a difference
Sep 29, 2016 7:49 PM - danzca6: Laser would be a cool idea... As long as the wiring doesn't get in the way
Sep 29, 2016 7:50 PM - Bill Monroe: ya.. gotta get one and see what it will take to mount it up
Sep 29, 2016 7:53 PM - danzca6: I've been searching for a Tormach on Craigslist and nothing near me so far... Not that I could afford one right now anyway
Sep 29, 2016 7:53 PM - Bill Monroe: they are rare on the used market.. kind of a testimony to their quality and utility
Sep 29, 2016 7:55 PM - Geof: Yea danz new bowdens. Sigma is spain made so 3mm is pretty "standard" and the routing on the stock sigma is crazy long so could be for that/flex/PVA
Sep 29, 2016 7:57 PM - danzca6: Well you'll have what you need to go either way afterwards if needed
    Sep 29, 2016 8:00 PM - Bill Monroe: [IMG]
    Sep 29, 2016 8:01 PM - danzca6: Nice bill
Sep 29, 2016 8:02 PM - Bill Monroe: im going to try a different bit... think I can do much better
Sep 29, 2016 8:02 PM - Bill Monroe: ok.. tacos are ready.. take care
    Sep 29, 2016 8:03 PM - danzca6: Ha ha it's not even Tuesday

    Sep 30, 2016 6:07 AM - Stoph: evening all
    Sep 30, 2016 6:07 AM - Stoph: currently installing an E3D V6 into my R1 beta
Sep 30, 2016 6:08 AM - Stoph: anyone able to confirm whether I can daisy chain my RAMPS fan and hot end cooling fan and run it off the same fused molex?
Sep 30, 2016 6:08 AM - Stoph: install guide suggests using this dedicated point but the RAMPS fan occupies it already
Sep 30, 2016 6:19 AM - daniel871: Since they both ought to run 100% of the time, I don't see why not.
Sep 30, 2016 6:20 AM - daniel871: So long as the point you intend to run it from can support the current both fans require.
Sep 30, 2016 6:21 AM - daniel871: The original R1 I had used to have the "on all the time" fans running off of a point on the main PSU and not the RAMPS itself, for whatever that's worth. Not sure why they changed that.
Sep 30, 2016 6:22 AM - Stoph: we're talking may be 0.3-4amps for both fans combined
Sep 30, 2016 6:22 AM - Stoph: Im guessing that won't overtax the system
Sep 30, 2016 6:26 AM - Geof: hi stoph. Daniel is 100% correct. I run my hotend, ramps and LEDS all of the main 12V.
    Sep 30, 2016 6:26 AM - Geof: you'll be just fine.
Sep 30, 2016 6:32 AM - Stoph: Thanks guys, much appreciated. Just to be 100% sure I am hearing you clearly (still very green when it comes to electronics) - the 12v AUX on the RAMPS board, where the current RAMPS cooling fan is plugged in, is the point that you've got your gear running off of, Geof? Or are you saying you've plugged everything into the PSU?
    Sep 30, 2016 6:32 AM - Stoph: sorry for being thick/slow!
Sep 30, 2016 6:32 AM - Stoph: (dont wanna fry my board or burn my house down)
Sep 30, 2016 6:33 AM - Geof: Yes off that connection on the green port. I probably should have ran it off the powersupply but figure tomato potato :D
Sep 30, 2016 6:34 AM - Geof: absolute worst thing that can happen is a bad connection and you'll melt that molex connector. It is much easier to run multiple connectons off the PSU
Sep 30, 2016 6:35 AM - Stoph: provided theres no untoward contact between terminals there shouldn;t be a short if I jam in some extra wires?
Sep 30, 2016 6:40 AM - daniel871: Exactly. I was referring to the 12v rail on the PSU and not a plugin on the ramps.
Sep 30, 2016 6:41 AM - daniel871: You had two sets of wires going to the RAMPS to power the heaters/ramps/etc., then the fans and LEDS were wired to the last open terminals on the PSU.
Sep 30, 2016 6:41 AM - Stoph: thanks, glad I confirmed (would have totally gone with the aux)
Sep 30, 2016 6:41 AM - Stoph: you guys are legends, much appreciated!
Sep 30, 2016 6:41 AM - daniel871: Pretty sure either way will work, but that's how the stock wiring was on my R1.
Sep 30, 2016 6:42 AM - daniel871: The R1+ I had was where Robo switched things to running off of the Ramps for the LEDs and fans and such, so the RAMPS ought to be able to handle the fan output.
    Sep 30, 2016 6:43 AM - daniel871: (It's just a matter of making sure everything is plugged/wired properly so there aren't any improper/bad connections).
Sep 30, 2016 9:10 AM - GORITE: New owner of a ROBO3D 1+ Please can anyone send me in the right direction to find HOW to print TWO pieces of the same file at the same time. :(
    Sep 30, 2016 9:10 AM - GORITE: thank you
Sep 30, 2016 9:13 AM - daniel871: Insert the part file in your slicer twice, arrange them, slice, print.
    Sep 30, 2016 9:13 AM - danzca6: using MatterControl?
    Sep 30, 2016 9:13 AM - danzca6: what he said
    Sep 30, 2016 9:13 AM - GORITE: yes
    Sep 30, 2016 9:14 AM - GORITE: Thank you daniel871
Sep 30, 2016 9:14 AM - daniel871: Depending on how complex the part is, you may be better off just printing it one at a time.
Sep 30, 2016 9:15 AM - GORITE: 2x2 flat couple holes nothing mayor
    Sep 30, 2016 10:13 AM - daniel871: Here we go.

Sep 30, 2016 3:42 PM - Bill Monroe: anyone hear of a printer with AX in the name? like axiom or something?
    Sep 30, 2016 3:47 PM - daniel871: gMax? AX-01?

Oct 2, 2016 at 3:16 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys - working on installing the new E3dV6. Taking a little more time because I thought I had all the peices printed out but ended up being too small so my son is printing the fan holders again now. That said, the stock robo thermistor WILL NOT work with the new E3Dv6 crtridge system.
Oct 2, 2016 at 3:17 PM - Toro1966: The reason is that the grub screw is in the center of the heater block. The E3 thermistor is long and goes all the way through. The stock one is short and stubby. So if you put the stick one in, it does not go in far enough to reach the grub screw -so nothing holding it in.
Oct 2, 2016 at 3:52 PM - Geof: Good to know, thanks!
    Oct 2, 2016 at 4:25 PM - Toro1966: No worries
Oct 2, 2016 at 4:36 PM - Toro1966: anyone know if you can get replacement thermistors for the E3DV6 on Amazon?
    Oct 2, 2016 at 4:42 PM - Geof: I dont know. Everything e3d i buy from printedsolid
Oct 2, 2016 at 4:58 PM - Toro1966: Might have to just make an order.

Oct 3, 2016 5:38 AM - Geof: Good morning all
    Oct 3, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: Morning Mr Geof
    Oct 3, 2016 5:56 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning guys
    Oct 3, 2016 5:57 AM - danzca6: Morning WW
Oct 3, 2016 5:57 AM - danzca6: nice work on that last firmware update
    Oct 3, 2016 5:57 AM - danzca6: lots changed
Oct 3, 2016 5:58 AM - Geof: One day I'll have to swap over and try it out.
Oct 3, 2016 5:59 AM - WheresWaldo: Yeah, they seem to be changing every few days, lots of new options, actually refinements of current options.
Oct 3, 2016 6:00 AM - WheresWaldo: @Geof not 'one day' you are doing yourself a disservice by not looking at it, such an improvement over Marlin 1.0.0
Oct 3, 2016 6:00 AM - danzca6: I hope to print the millenium falcon this week with the R7 upgrade...doing some small prints just to make sure everything is good first
Oct 3, 2016 6:01 AM - WheresWaldo: I would love to see what changes, if any, that Robo made to RC7 for the C2 & R2.
Oct 3, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: I am glad to see that they are at least using RC7 and not 1.0.0 still
Oct 3, 2016 6:02 AM - WheresWaldo: Dan, I have been using RCBugFix and actually have come to prefer it over RC7, there are some refinements that I think help. Of course that is totally subjective and not scientific at all.
Oct 3, 2016 6:02 AM - danzca6: the new ABL routine is interesting and working fine so far
Oct 3, 2016 6:03 AM - WheresWaldo: What I want to see is if they took my changes and just used them without modifying any of the comments.
    Oct 3, 2016 6:03 AM - danzca6: just search for ROBO-BH :)
Oct 3, 2016 6:04 AM - WheresWaldo: I don't use ABL so I was just kinda winging it with all the changes, glad I made some semi-intelligent choices.
Oct 3, 2016 6:05 AM - WheresWaldo: As soon as MESH came out I started a dialog with Edward Patel (contributor) to help make sure it worked with the Robo.
Oct 3, 2016 6:07 AM - WheresWaldo: I also want to take credit for steering Robo away from the Makerbase LCD and toward Octoprint/custom touch interface, :D
Oct 3, 2016 6:07 AM - danzca6: The only changes I am going to make to the ABL is the soft touch setup since I don't need that with the IR. Also change a couple of the speed settings to make it go a bit faster...other than that it is humming along
    Oct 3, 2016 6:07 AM - danzca6: nice
Oct 3, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: have you used that combo before?
Oct 3, 2016 6:08 AM - WheresWaldo: If you think it can be faster let me know what speeds you end up with, I might be able to include it in the next variant.
Oct 3, 2016 6:08 AM - WheresWaldo: I have the Makerbase TFT28, but only used it for a day or two and went back to the Full Graphics LCD.
Oct 3, 2016 6:09 AM - danzca6: only changing the speed because of the touchless routine with the IR...works great if you had the nozzle as a probe the way you have it set
Oct 3, 2016 6:10 AM - WheresWaldo: The LCD is pretty and works okay, but it dumbs down the interface too much, that is why I switched back to the FGLCD
Oct 3, 2016 6:11 AM - danzca6: just searched for it...looks nice from the pics
Oct 3, 2016 6:12 AM - danzca6: Hopefully in the next month I'll be switching to the Duet Wifi and use their web interface for a controller
Oct 3, 2016 6:14 AM - danzca6: Geof...I can't believe how Cura has the print time at 18 hours for that Millenium Falcon and S3D shows just over 9 for all the same speed, layer, infill settings
Oct 3, 2016 6:17 AM - Geof: Waldo- mine works reliably atm. As soon as she poops out ill swap over prolly. Danz- s3d has smarter.tool paths but occassionally the estimates are.... on the low side lol
Oct 3, 2016 6:18 AM - danzca6: well this will be a good test then
Oct 3, 2016 6:19 AM - danzca6: testing a large print for the first time with S3D and RC7 firmware...could be a recipe for spaghetti or awesomeness
    Oct 3, 2016 6:35 AM - Bill Monroe: morning
    Oct 3, 2016 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Morning Bill
Oct 3, 2016 6:49 AM - Geof: either way its awesome Danz :D.
Oct 3, 2016 6:53 AM - WheresWaldo: @danzca6 if you look at the TFT28 or the TFT32 then look at the icons done by this guy: https://github.com/majurca/MKS-TFT28-NEW-PICTURES

Oct 3, 2016 8:55 AM - daniel871: Missed an opportunity by not having it "Bombs Away for Harambe"
Oct 3, 2016 10:54 AM - danzca6: I see a super early bird R2 just became available. Does that mean that you can back out of a Kickstarter campaign that you back?
Oct 3, 2016 10:56 AM - Geof: Id assume no ? Guessing they made another available ?
Oct 3, 2016 10:59 AM - danzca6: wonder if someone switched to the new package that has both the C2 and R2 leaving this one available. There are still only 50 total and now 1 available at that price. It was sold out
Oct 3, 2016 10:59 AM - danzca6: same with Eric's KS. I see there is now an early bird upgrade available that was all sold out the last time I checked
Oct 3, 2016 11:00 AM - Geof: Thats odd. Maybe you can backout ?
Oct 3, 2016 11:00 AM - Geof: Kit is ordered ahould be here next week :') or this weekend if im lucky
    Oct 3, 2016 11:00 AM - danzca6: awesome
Oct 3, 2016 11:01 AM - danzca6: yeah I thought about going ahead and getting the prometheus system upgrade at only $149 and just use it with my V6. I don't think you really need the promethus hot end for it. Just the only thing they have tested it on. I decided not to though.
    Oct 3, 2016 11:02 AM - danzca6: I thought the MK2 kits had a lead time to them
    Oct 3, 2016 11:03 AM - danzca6: 3-5 days before shipping
Oct 3, 2016 11:04 AM - danzca6: so if your really lucky you could get it this weekend
Oct 3, 2016 12:01 PM - Geof: Im not lol. Prolly next week :)
Oct 3, 2016 12:01 PM - Geof: Ive got the worst.luck with backordered printers lol
Oct 3, 2016 12:02 PM - NFOsec: blah blah blah... do you want some cheese to go with that whine?
Oct 3, 2016 12:02 PM - Geof: I paid the extra 5 bucks for 3 day shipling lol
Oct 3, 2016 12:02 PM - Geof: If ya got it ill drink it NFO lpl
    Oct 3, 2016 12:02 PM - Geof: Lol***
Oct 3, 2016 12:02 PM - NFOsec: You probably paid $5 for someone to think about how they'll meet the 3 day shipping.
Oct 3, 2016 12:03 PM - Geof: More than likely haha.
Oct 3, 2016 12:03 PM - NFOsec: well, I hope someone goes postal in your favor ad you get your shipment earlier than later.
    Oct 3, 2016 12:04 PM - Geof: Thank you :)
Oct 3, 2016 12:15 PM - Toro1966: You'll have to tell me what you think Geof - that one is high on my list. Of course I am still installing the E3DV6....Got very busy this weekend.
Oct 3, 2016 12:23 PM - NFOsec: If you're up for it, install the E3Dv6, then get the silicone boot for it that just came out. That is 1000x better for clean up and your aluminum heat block won't get mucked up.
    Oct 3, 2016 12:23 PM - NFOsec: bbiaf.
    Oct 3, 2016 12:26 PM - Toro1966: Matt included one with it :)
Oct 3, 2016 12:36 PM - Geof: Ill keep ya posted toro
Oct 3, 2016 12:41 PM - danzca6: This is why you should marry someone your own age... :p https://www.yahoo.com/style/florida-man-accidentally-marries-granddaughter-134404942.html
    Oct 3, 2016 12:58 PM - Bill Monroe: that's just wrong
    Oct 3, 2016 1:30 PM - danzca6: In so...so many ways yes it is
Oct 3, 2016 3:26 PM - Toro1966: That I3 quad material extruder kit look sawesome!
Oct 3, 2016 3:27 PM - Toro1966: I wonder what it comes with? All steppers, feeder tray, etc?
Oct 3, 2016 3:40 PM - danzca6: I'm sure it's the full upgrade kit. Not sure about if it will come with the spool holder, buy might
Oct 3, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: I assume it's the whole thing. Looks that way
Oct 3, 2016 3:45 PM - Geof: I volunteered beta testing waiting to hear back
Oct 3, 2016 3:46 PM - danzca6: With all the printing you do that would be a good fit
Oct 3, 2016 3:46 PM - Geof: It would sure be fun. Idk what I'd do with 4 color but 2 color and support material would be great
Oct 3, 2016 3:49 PM - danzca6: Did you have to specify 4 or 2 color for beta testing
Oct 3, 2016 3:49 PM - Geof: Nope just volunteer in an email.
    Oct 3, 2016 3:49 PM - Geof: I'd be good either way ;)
Oct 3, 2016 3:51 PM - Geof: You get ahold of Barnes and noble danz?
Oct 3, 2016 3:51 PM - Toro1966: Just finsihed texting them because I am ready to buy
Oct 3, 2016 3:52 PM - Geof: From what I can tell you won't be sorry toro
Oct 3, 2016 3:52 PM - Toro1966: But they said that since the upgrade won't be available until December, if I order them both now, I pay shipping spearetly for the items. So I will likely wait until December and order both.
Oct 3, 2016 3:53 PM - Geof: No problem waiting to save a bit
Oct 3, 2016 3:53 PM - Toro1966: Yup. Plus he wasn't sure what came with the kit yet
Oct 3, 2016 3:54 PM - Toro1966: I am sure it will be fairly complete, but I would like to know. And I really want them to include the spoll holder setup
Oct 3, 2016 3:55 PM - Geof: I bought it for capacity :) need more available print time, the 4 color will be fun but can't wait lol
Oct 3, 2016 3:55 PM - Geof: I'm sure it will be a full kit but price may jump as time goes on .
Oct 3, 2016 3:56 PM - danzca6: Talked to b&n this weekend... Co-workers daughter is a manager there. So we are working out details for their faire
    Oct 3, 2016 3:56 PM - danzca6: Yeah I can't believe how cheap the mk2 is
Oct 3, 2016 3:57 PM - Toro1966: That's one of my concerns as well. I was thinkinig of getting in early if not just to ensure the price doesn't hike
Oct 3, 2016 3:57 PM - Toro1966: I don't see the MK2 price rising, but I do believe the kit could increase for the dual and quad
Oct 3, 2016 3:58 PM - danzca6: Can you just order both now and have them put a hold on it
Oct 3, 2016 3:59 PM - Geof: I don't know ? I imagine you have to buy the printer then the upgrade but like toro said still have the dual ship charge.
Oct 3, 2016 4:00 PM - Geof: Yea man insanely cheap. 765 shipped. Cheaper than my r1+ when I bought it
Oct 3, 2016 4:01 PM - Geof: Awesome on the BN! I'm still waiting to hear back. If you do it contact PS and let him know you're in.
Oct 3, 2016 4:01 PM - danzca6: And about the same price as the C2 with more build volume
Oct 3, 2016 4:01 PM - Geof: He's Gina send a bunch of stickers to pass out and whatnot
    Oct 3, 2016 4:01 PM - Geof: And a heated build plate o_O
Oct 3, 2016 4:01 PM - Toro1966: I could probably ask them to hold it - but that sounds like a reciep for jackassery....
Oct 3, 2016 4:02 PM - Toro1966: I really like my R1+, but I am not a buyer of the R2 or C2. Too much for not enough.
Oct 3, 2016 4:02 PM - danzca6: I wonder when they will announce the C2 winner on twitter

Oct 3, 2016 4:03 PM - Geof: To much software for me lol. Buried like to play with one
Oct 3, 2016 4:03 PM - Geof: If I had to guess after their Kickstarter
Oct 3, 2016 4:03 PM - Toro1966: I paid 750 for my R1+ a couple of months ago, but that included 6 rolls of Robo filament - including the wood, metallics, and strawberry
    Oct 3, 2016 4:03 PM - danzca6: I'll take a free one
Oct 3, 2016 4:04 PM - Geof: Lol I'd ask to play with your free one lol!
Oct 3, 2016 4:04 PM - Toro1966: I agree geof - can't believe I am saying this but they have made a very good beginner printer that will hopefully be easier for beginners.
Oct 3, 2016 4:04 PM - Geof: Your not that far away lol
    Oct 3, 2016 4:04 PM - danzca6: Deal

    Oct 3, 2016 4:08 PM - danzca6: Right! Haha
Oct 3, 2016 4:08 PM - Toro1966: off topic but I Can't wait for my hunting trip to WI next month!
Oct 3, 2016 4:08 PM - Geof: So far I've tested Budweiser, bud light and Miller .... Meh lol
Oct 3, 2016 4:09 PM - Geof: That would be cool. Where you located toro?
Oct 3, 2016 4:09 PM - Toro1966: I'm in Northern VA but my brothers live in WI
    Oct 3, 2016 4:10 PM - danzca6: Where in WI? That's in my backyard
    Oct 3, 2016 4:10 PM - Toro1966: Belgium
    Oct 3, 2016 4:10 PM - Toro1966: But we're hunting in a cabin a couple of hours away.
    Oct 3, 2016 4:10 PM - Toro1966: North I think...
Oct 3, 2016 4:11 PM - danzca6: Belgium is less than 2 hours from me

    Oct 3, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Nice!
    Oct 3, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: Lol
    Oct 3, 2016 4:12 PM - Toro1966: We can 3d print a deer if we don't get one!
Oct 3, 2016 4:12 PM - Geof: Everyone wins that way!
    Oct 3, 2016 4:12 PM - danzca6: Nice... That would work haha
    Oct 3, 2016 4:13 PM - danzca6: There's at least 3 colors right there Geof
    Oct 3, 2016 4:13 PM - Toro1966: yup!
    Oct 3, 2016 4:14 PM - danzca6: When you going?
Oct 3, 2016 4:14 PM - Geof: Lol! !!!! That's how I justify my printers to my lovely lady... 1 more makes 7 color haha
Oct 3, 2016 4:15 PM - danzca6: That's how you justify your warehouse of filament
Oct 3, 2016 4:18 PM - Geof: Nah I blame that on customers lol,
Oct 3, 2016 4:19 PM - Geof: She just says...uh huh.... Lol. Then bam... Another shipment lol!!!! She digs the magnetic iron so she bought 2 spools for "her prints" lol
Oct 3, 2016 4:19 PM - Geof: That fila strider is in my near future (January)
    Oct 3, 2016 4:20 PM - Geof: Filastruder...darn auto correct
    Oct 3, 2016 4:20 PM - danzca6: Nice
    Oct 3, 2016 4:20 PM - danzca6: Tim can hook you up
Oct 3, 2016 4:20 PM - Geof: Hate waiting on filament lol.
    Oct 3, 2016 4:21 PM - Geof: Tim ?
    Oct 3, 2016 4:21 PM - danzca6: Owner of filastruder
Oct 3, 2016 4:21 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. Put in that good word danz! Maybe he'll give me one
Oct 3, 2016 4:21 PM - danzca6: Just need to find a way to grind up your old prints
Oct 3, 2016 4:22 PM - Geof: Lol mine get taken. Or the lady uses them as decor lol,
    Oct 3, 2016 4:22 PM - danzca6: He's a member here
    Oct 3, 2016 4:22 PM - Geof: I didn't know that, don't think I've ever seen him.
    Oct 3, 2016 4:23 PM - danzca6: elmoret
    Oct 3, 2016 4:24 PM - danzca6: I've gotten a few things from him.
    Oct 3, 2016 4:24 PM - Geof: Gotya. Not very active ?
    Oct 3, 2016 4:25 PM - danzca6: Not really
Oct 3, 2016 4:25 PM - danzca6: He has been more active lately over at the BigBox forum
Oct 3, 2016 4:26 PM - Geof: The big box forum pretty active these days? I didn't think very many went out ?
    Oct 3, 2016 4:27 PM - danzca6: They aren't as active as we are
Oct 3, 2016 4:27 PM - danzca6: Different kind of crowd over there
    Oct 3, 2016 4:27 PM - Geof: How so?
Oct 3, 2016 4:29 PM - danzca6: They just don't seem to have the welcoming open feeling that we seem to have here
Oct 3, 2016 4:29 PM - danzca6: Still some good folks over there
Oct 3, 2016 4:30 PM - Geof: Yea this forum is pretty awesome. I was browsing the Prusa forum a bit
    Oct 3, 2016 4:30 PM - danzca6: Haven't gotten on that one yet
Oct 3, 2016 4:30 PM - Geof: They gave me a login today
Oct 3, 2016 4:31 PM - danzca6: Do you have to be an owner
Oct 3, 2016 4:34 PM - Geof: I don't think so ? But I don't think you can do some stuff in there without mod approval
    Oct 3, 2016 4:36 PM - danzca6: Man it's in a different language
    Oct 3, 2016 4:37 PM - danzca6: Well some of it

    Oct 4, 2016 3:58 AM - danzca6: Morning Jeff
Oct 4, 2016 3:59 AM - JeffTheMess: hows it going Dan
    Oct 4, 2016 3:59 AM - Toro1966: Morning guys
Oct 4, 2016 3:59 AM - JeffTheMess: whats up toro
    Oct 4, 2016 4:00 AM - danzca6: Morning Toro
    Oct 4, 2016 4:00 AM - danzca6: I've been up since 1 this morning...going to be a long Tuesday
    Oct 4, 2016 4:00 AM - JeffTheMess: you mean a fun day
    Oct 4, 2016 4:01 AM - Toro1966: Wow - why since 1?
Oct 4, 2016 4:01 AM - danzca6: We had a system upgrade this morning I had to help out with at work
Oct 4, 2016 4:01 AM - danzca6: of course once your up you can't go back to sleep
    Oct 4, 2016 4:01 AM - Toro1966: Better you than me - but I am definitely used to working 24/7 :)
    Oct 4, 2016 4:02 AM - danzca6: haha...I bet
Oct 4, 2016 4:04 AM - danzca6: toro did you watch the retraction video that Maker Muse posted last night
Oct 4, 2016 4:04 AM - Toro1966: Now I get to ride a desk and deal with traffic jackassery every day...
Oct 4, 2016 4:06 AM - Toro1966: Not yet. Saw it come in though - is it good? One thing I found while taking apart the extruder over the last couple of days - and I am not sure it was contirbuting to my zits - but maybe - is that the extruder motor was loose. The three screwes that hold it to the wades body were loose and I could move it back and forth. It didn't look like it was slipping, but definitely loose.
Oct 4, 2016 4:06 AM - danzca6: I used to have a treadmill desk that made life easier than just sitting all day...new office is too small for it though...rather be moving than sitting
    Oct 4, 2016 4:06 AM - Toro1966: I agree. I am much happier at sea!
Oct 4, 2016 4:06 AM - JeffTheMess: this guy made a cnc with cardboard servos motors and encoders
Oct 4, 2016 4:07 AM - danzca6: that's crazy...next your going to tell me he glued it together with chewing gum
Oct 4, 2016 4:08 AM - danzca6: Yeah toro I had to go through my whole machine when I got it and snug everything up. Now I do it one every couple months just to check. First time there was a lot loose, but things have been good since. I also added some blue lock tite on some of the bolts just to make sure
Oct 4, 2016 4:08 AM - JeffTheMess: so the rest of us have no excuse why we dont have a small cnc
Oct 4, 2016 4:09 AM - danzca6: I need to finish my MPCNC this Fall
Oct 4, 2016 4:09 AM - danzca6: just need to finish printing the parts and assemble
Oct 4, 2016 4:09 AM - JeffTheMess: that should be simple enough
Oct 4, 2016 4:10 AM - danzca6: yeah just not a lot of time in the Summer
    Oct 4, 2016 4:10 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah i hear that
Oct 4, 2016 4:37 AM - Saurabh Singh: Does anyone know if C2 can print Nylon?
Oct 4, 2016 4:37 AM - JeffTheMess: no heated bed so I wouldn't try it
    Oct 4, 2016 4:40 AM - daniel871: The C2 is a joke.
    Oct 4, 2016 4:40 AM - daniel871: https://i.imgur.com/POmrl0g.gifv
    Oct 4, 2016 4:41 AM - daniel871: https://i.imgur.com/Rmqc1Xu.gifv
Oct 4, 2016 4:41 AM - Saurabh Singh: Hmmm I've pleged the combo deal on KS for both C2 and R2
Oct 4, 2016 4:41 AM - Saurabh Singh: Any suggestions?
Oct 4, 2016 4:42 AM - JeffTheMess: just use the r2 for nylon
    Oct 4, 2016 4:42 AM - JeffTheMess: c2 will not due much
Oct 4, 2016 4:42 AM - daniel871: Look for the rare Taulman Nylon 230 spool that was intended for printers without heated beds?
    Oct 4, 2016 4:42 AM - daniel871: I don't know if Taulman even makes it anymore.
Oct 4, 2016 4:43 AM - danzca6: curious why both? I would think the R2 would be all you would need
Oct 4, 2016 4:43 AM - daniel871: Again, the C2 is a joke. You can literally get a better printer for $350 from Monoprice.com that has a heated bed.
Oct 4, 2016 4:44 AM - daniel871: $299 for the really small printer that has a similar build space, but still has a heated bed.
Oct 4, 2016 4:44 AM - Saurabh Singh: Very true! I might change it. Only gotit because C2 would ship next month
Oct 4, 2016 4:44 AM - daniel871: The only version of the printer that is a "maybe" is the R2, and even that is priced way too f-ing high given the existence of things like the MK2 and whatever other insanity Josef Prusa may come up with before the R2 actually releases.
Oct 4, 2016 4:45 AM - JeffTheMess: yeah c2 seems to be intended for really NOOB to the game
Oct 4, 2016 4:45 AM - daniel871: C2 = "Hey, suckers, can a handful of you that are born every minute buy this printer? Thanks."
Oct 4, 2016 4:46 AM - JeffTheMess: even then people using pla use heated beds
Oct 4, 2016 4:46 AM - daniel871: Like, if your only exposure to 3d printer designs are the ones by Robo3D/Robo, maybe I could see it as an excuse, but still.
    Oct 4, 2016 4:46 AM - daniel871: The R1 always had a heated bed. The C2 is a step backwards.
Oct 4, 2016 4:46 AM - danzca6: add some buildtak to the C2 and you should be ok without the heated bed for most things
Oct 4, 2016 4:46 AM - daniel871: On the other hand, Buildtak is a fucking headache.
    Oct 4, 2016 4:47 AM - daniel871: Changing that pad is a bitch.
Oct 4, 2016 4:47 AM - daniel871: Maybe put a sheet of Buildtak on it and use *that* to hold a sheet of PEI while printing.
Oct 4, 2016 4:47 AM - danzca6: how long does one pad last?
    Oct 4, 2016 4:47 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 4, 2016 4:48 AM - daniel871: Depends on how long you can go without scraping it apart with your print removal tool/scraper.
Oct 4, 2016 4:48 AM - daniel871: Some people are so unlucky with Buildtak that the pad only survives a single print when trying it due to how hard it grabs their print.
Oct 4, 2016 4:49 AM - danzca6: maybe this will end up being better to remove...https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/steelmans/lokbuild-3d-print-build-surface?ref=discovery
Oct 4, 2016 4:50 AM - danzca6: "LokBuild can be removed from the build plate cleanly in one piece and leaves no residue behind."
Oct 4, 2016 4:50 AM - daniel871: My original point about the C2 being a joke still stands. Bed adhesion is 80% of the problem people have getting started in 3d printing. I do not see the C2 doing well.
Oct 4, 2016 4:51 AM - JeffTheMess: the only thing its got going for it is its "early release" but by that time you can get something better now
Oct 4, 2016 4:51 AM - daniel871: Especially that bullshit in the campaign that claims over 20 different material types being compatible with non-heated beds.
Oct 4, 2016 4:51 AM - daniel871: Are there even 20 different variations of PLA that are just PLA with fillers?
Oct 4, 2016 4:52 AM - daniel871: Because that's the only angle I can think of to justify that claim.
Oct 4, 2016 4:52 AM - daniel871: Regular PLA, Woodfill, Metalfill, Clayfill, that's it. All of the other filaments that technically print at lower temps than PLA still need a heated bed to minimize thermal shock.
    Oct 4, 2016 4:53 AM - JeffTheMess: colors?
    Oct 4, 2016 4:53 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 4, 2016 4:53 AM - daniel871: Maybe the various filament suppliers that put different names on the same type of PLA.
    Oct 4, 2016 4:53 AM - daniel871: Laywood, Woodfill, WoodLay, etc.
Oct 4, 2016 4:58 AM - JeffTheMess: were gonna get banned from the forum soon lol
Oct 4, 2016 5:05 AM - danzca6: well just like the 2nd extruder for the R2, there will be an upgrade to get a heated bed for the C2
Oct 4, 2016 5:06 AM - JeffTheMess: heated bed at this staged should be standard :)
Oct 4, 2016 5:08 AM - danzca6: I agree, but I think they were trying to keep the price down. I wonder if most of their cost is on the injection molding for the new case. I think that was a big part of the cost of the R1
    Oct 4, 2016 5:09 AM - JeffTheMess: oh yeah
Oct 4, 2016 5:22 AM - Geof: I have a non heated build plate...it takes a good afternoon of figuring out how to make a spare heater work with what printer you've got :D. Hackaway. My Ditto didn't have a heated build and for a long time I got by on medium sized builds (6x6" or so") with a gecko plate or blue painters tape wiped with alcohal, etc. Tons of things can be done to work with a build plate non heated....thought yes you shouldn't have to but thats why they got R2
Oct 4, 2016 5:26 AM - danzca6: yeah my dad has the old wooden printrbot simple and prints without a heated bed all the time without issues
Oct 4, 2016 5:27 AM - danzca6: heck that thing has fishing line and sand paper instead of the GT2 pulleys and belts...old school cheap printer
Oct 4, 2016 5:28 AM - daniel871: Still. There is no excuse for a 3d printer designed in 2016 to not have a heated bed. Especially not one at the C2s price point.
    Oct 4, 2016 5:30 AM - JeffTheMess: ^
Oct 4, 2016 5:30 AM - Geof: There are quite alot of printers without heated builds. Just a point of sales. If you want a small printer no heat bed...c2 (cheap sister) if your an advanced maker and want to spend the money on a heat bed and a full size printer r2 (big brother).
Oct 4, 2016 5:30 AM - daniel871: Hell, off the shelf heated bed plates can be had for $20. Cost is no excuse.
Oct 4, 2016 5:31 AM - Geof: Either way IF your going to buy a new robo theyve got you covered.
Oct 4, 2016 5:31 AM - Geof: Then why wouldnt you as an end user who has decided its a must het one and modify or instead of wasting time upgrading get the other option :)
Oct 4, 2016 5:32 AM - daniel871: Because for $699 you can get the MK2 kit that beats the shit out of the C2?
Oct 4, 2016 5:33 AM - daniel871: Keep in mind the post-Kickstarter intended price point.
Oct 4, 2016 5:33 AM - Geof: Lol and thats what i did instead of complaining about it/having an opinion against their new line up, i went with a machine that fit my needs :)
    Oct 4, 2016 5:34 AM - Geof: Maybe their trying to pull a makerboth 5th gen ;)
Oct 4, 2016 5:34 AM - daniel871: So did I. Doesn't mean I'm wrong for pointing out how stupid their current plan is.
    Oct 4, 2016 5:34 AM - danzca6: moving production to australia
    Oct 4, 2016 5:35 AM - daniel871: Free Huntsman Spider with every C2!
    Oct 4, 2016 5:35 AM - danzca6: sweet...I'm in
    Oct 4, 2016 5:35 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 4, 2016 5:35 AM - Geof: Did you get the mk2 kit daniel ?
Oct 4, 2016 5:35 AM - Geof: Im out man spiders freak me out ;)
    Oct 4, 2016 5:36 AM - daniel871: Not yet, I'm holding out for the 4-extruder kit.
Oct 4, 2016 5:37 AM - Geof: Gotya. I probably should have as well. Oh well :) 250+ shipping isnt a huge deal
Oct 4, 2016 5:37 AM - daniel871: Plus I have that Delta coming in at some point. Supplier delays on parts, but they're being up front and posting pictures of shipments and inspections of parts received the day they happen.
Oct 4, 2016 5:38 AM - daniel871: It's a little weird to see those guys working in a shop building that is about the size of mine.
Oct 4, 2016 5:39 AM - daniel871: Similar amounts of empty racks of shelves waiting on parts.
Oct 4, 2016 5:41 AM - daniel871: I was going to tell you about the Amazon Prime listing, but they sold out the first day.
    Oct 4, 2016 5:42 AM - daniel871: Damn all those YouTube reviews.

    Oct 4, 2016 5:46 AM - danzca6: listing for? the delta?
    Oct 4, 2016 5:58 AM - daniel871: The MK2 was briefly on Amazon.
    Oct 4, 2016 6:03 AM - danzca6: really? wow..free 2 day shipping?
Oct 4, 2016 6:04 AM - danzca6: I have a lot of amazon gift cards....that would be nice to use them on it
Oct 4, 2016 6:24 AM - Geof: I'm guessing if they ever get caught up i will go back on amazon :D
Oct 4, 2016 6:25 AM - Geof: that 3-5 day lead time for the kit is probably how long it takes to print the parts :D
Oct 4, 2016 6:29 AM - danzca6: yeah I think he has like 70 printers just melting plastic all day long
    Oct 4, 2016 6:40 AM - Geof: Thatd be a headache lol
Oct 4, 2016 6:45 AM - danzca6: did you see his tweet about the "smart waste tower" with his implementation of multi color?
Oct 4, 2016 6:46 AM - danzca6: looks like it might be using less plastic than traditional, but I thought that was all part of the slicer software
    Oct 4, 2016 7:07 AM - Schlomo: Yo everyone
Oct 4, 2016 7:07 AM - Schlomo: Anyone print Nylon often? Specifically Bridge?
Oct 4, 2016 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: Mark Tomlinson prints a lot of Bridge, he is a big Taulman fan.
Oct 4, 2016 7:09 AM - Schlomo: Just curious on what temp he prints at
Oct 4, 2016 7:09 AM - WheresWaldo: PM him, I think he is online now.
Oct 4, 2016 7:11 AM - daniel871: The waste tower/multi color bit probably would get a bit fiddly with Simplify3D since even the Dual extrusion wizard it has is a bit finicky for switching.
Oct 4, 2016 7:14 AM - Geof: I honestly dont know what he is doing there or with what software. Its neat but BIG big trade off for 4 color printing. 2 color and support would be cool as i find usibg pva with the signa id like dual color with that....but meh. What are you having issues with in s3d on the dual config daniel ?
Oct 4, 2016 7:15 AM - Geof: Pva with the sigma***
Oct 4, 2016 7:33 AM - daniel871: The dual config in S3D was just fiddly to setup on the Frankenrobo vs. using it with a printer profile that was already set up for dual extruding to start with.
Oct 4, 2016 7:36 AM - daniel871: As far as multi colors are concerned, there is that nifty color-mixing script for things like the diamond head.
Oct 4, 2016 7:37 AM - daniel871: Depending on how well the different color dyes mix while extruding, etc., it could be neat to just get R/G/B filaments that approximate pantone colors and mix from there for gradients/etc.
Oct 4, 2016 7:37 AM - daniel871: The developers of that Delta I backed are the only ones posting about it that I know of though.

Oct 4, 2016 8:11 AM - Geof: Gotya. Yea i imagine setting it up from scratch wouldnt ve fun
    Oct 4, 2016 8:41 AM - Geof: No
Oct 4, 2016 8:51 AM - Toro1966: Quick question on E3DV6 install - PTFE tube goes from hotend and gets cut just under the hobb bolt - correct
    Oct 4, 2016 8:56 AM - daniel871: In an ideal setup, yes.
Oct 4, 2016 8:56 AM - daniel871: Getting that cut *just right* can be tricky depending on the tools you have on hand.
Oct 4, 2016 8:58 AM - daniel871: You want to leave room so that the PTFE doesn't interfere with the gear/bearing, but not so much room that the filament can buckle between the gear/bearing and PTFE.
Oct 4, 2016 9:01 AM - Toro1966: Thanks. I think I got it pretty good. I had it all dissassembled so mine is cit at an angle andthe top rests just below the hob bolt. I'll post a pic later but am hoping to get it back together tonight or tomorrow.
Oct 4, 2016 9:01 AM - Stoph: I found using a fresh razor blade got the best results
Oct 4, 2016 9:02 AM - Toro1966: I use a new xacto knife and it cut like butter
Oct 4, 2016 9:02 AM - Stoph: Toro, theres a good 2 in 1 fan shroud that you can print for the e3d
Oct 4, 2016 9:02 AM - Stoph: I did it the other day and its really good
    Oct 4, 2016 9:02 AM - Stoph: low profile
    Oct 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Stoph: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1710217
Oct 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Stoph: you do need to essentially disassemble the X-carriage to install it
Oct 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Stoph: but not entirely that you have to start from scratch
Oct 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Toro1966: Do you have a link? I am using the stock hotend fan, and I printed marquis Johnson's parts fans. They actually clip on very nicely - though I had to have my son modify the file slightly because my fans were too think to slide in the holder
    Oct 4, 2016 9:03 AM - Toro1966: Go the link - thanks
    Oct 4, 2016 9:06 AM - danzca6: That's an interesting design
Oct 4, 2016 9:06 AM - Stoph: I found it printed well with no supports, but you need to flip it so that the 40mm fan nozzle is pointing directly up
Oct 4, 2016 9:06 AM - Stoph: its a lot smaller than the fan duct I had originally decided on
Oct 4, 2016 9:07 AM - Stoph: fits snugly between the two bearing bumps on the x-carriage
Oct 4, 2016 9:07 AM - Stoph: though the render shows the e3d oriented in a direction I don't think will fit
Oct 4, 2016 9:08 AM - Stoph: had to rotate it 90 degrees. Its tight, but thats made more so due to the new silicone sleeve I have over the heat block
Oct 4, 2016 9:09 AM - danzca6: I may wait until version 2.0 and see what that is going to look like
Oct 4, 2016 9:10 AM - Toro1966: My problme is I have two fans. Need to wait until he does that one.
Oct 4, 2016 9:13 AM - Stoph: yeah the 2.0 is supposed to be dual fans
    Oct 4, 2016 9:13 AM - Stoph: so 3 total
Oct 4, 2016 9:14 AM - Stoph: I've just finished up making an air scrubber for my printer. Using a 92mm noctua
Oct 4, 2016 9:14 AM - Stoph: anyone know if theres a plug free on the RAMPS board for a 4 pin molex?
Oct 4, 2016 9:14 AM - Stoph: Or should i just use a jumper to get the the PSU?
Oct 4, 2016 9:15 AM - Toro1966: The PSU has an extra set of 12v lugs that aren't being used.
    Oct 4, 2016 9:17 AM - Toro1966: I also bought 2 20mm fans I need to see if I can fit :) Want to replace the 2 10mm fans
    Oct 4, 2016 9:17 AM - Stoph: beefy
Oct 4, 2016 9:17 AM - Stoph: should be good airflow
Oct 4, 2016 9:18 AM - Stoph: you opt for silent running fans?
Oct 4, 2016 9:20 AM - Toro1966: Haven't hooked them up, but I don't really sweat the noise too much since the printer is in my basement. I have two silent nocuta 10mm fans that are now in a drawer because the CFM is horrible
Oct 4, 2016 9:21 AM - danzca6: looks like 2.0 was supposed to be released 8/20...so might be awhile if at all before that version is available
Oct 4, 2016 9:21 AM - danzca6: Stoph were you wanting to control the scrubber fan from the firmware or just have it on
Oct 4, 2016 9:22 AM - Stoph: I wouldn't mind the option of being able to turn it on, maybe after a print, so that while it cools it scrubs
Oct 4, 2016 9:23 AM - Stoph: rather than running all the time
Oct 4, 2016 9:23 AM - Stoph: its pulling and pushing through two filter cartridges so I don't know how much its gonna draw
Oct 4, 2016 9:23 AM - Stoph: though the amps to run the fan aren't huge, under load it might be a different story
Oct 4, 2016 9:23 AM - Stoph: and no telling if it'll throw up eddies of air that will upset any prints in progress
Oct 4, 2016 9:33 AM - danzca6: Are you printing abs or something toxic smelling?
Oct 4, 2016 9:34 AM - danzca6: and I take it you have an enclosure
Oct 4, 2016 9:34 AM - Stoph: I'll be working with ABS and want to take care of any fumes/particles if I can help it
Oct 4, 2016 9:35 AM - Stoph: I'll be fitting an enclosure soon so its all to go in with that
Oct 4, 2016 9:36 AM - Stoph: Is there a convenient 4 pin connection with PWM that's not being taken up by any of the steppers?
Oct 4, 2016 9:36 AM - danzca6: could always just wire in a switch for short term to have the fan on when you want. If you have the standard RAMPS and not the R1+ ramps board there are good diagrams of the layout
Oct 4, 2016 9:38 AM - Stoph: thats an idea for sure. easy enough to wire something inline
Oct 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Stoph: then I can just opt to switch on when I want, and jump it to the PSU
Oct 4, 2016 9:39 AM - Stoph: looking at the diagrams, I'm still fairly noobish hence my queries
    Oct 4, 2016 9:40 AM - danzca6: http://reprap.org/wiki/File:Arduinomega1-4connectors.png
    Oct 4, 2016 9:41 AM - danzca6: the aux-1 may have something for you
Oct 4, 2016 9:42 AM - danzca6: like you said, just be mindful of the power you are pulling
Oct 4, 2016 9:42 AM - Stoph: any aux will be fuse protected yeah?
Oct 4, 2016 9:43 AM - danzca6: honestly don't know for sure, but would imagine so
Oct 4, 2016 9:43 AM - Stoph: I'll plug it in and see how I go
    Oct 4, 2016 9:43 AM - Stoph: thanks mate!
    Oct 4, 2016 9:44 AM - danzca6: fingers crossed
Oct 4, 2016 9:51 AM - Stoph: hm. bit more reading on the subject and I don't know that I'm game to risk it, not knowing the current draw. I'll opt for the switch & PSU option to be safe
Oct 4, 2016 9:51 AM - Stoph: thanks for the help, danzca
    Oct 4, 2016 9:51 AM - Stoph: I'm out, later!
Oct 4, 2016 9:51 AM - Geof: Danz im on for my barnes and noble event
    Oct 4, 2016 10:27 AM - danzca6: see you Stoph
    Oct 4, 2016 10:27 AM - danzca6: awesome Geof!
Oct 4, 2016 10:28 AM - danzca6: bringing all the printers or just one :)
Oct 4, 2016 10:36 AM - Geof: Im not sure yet lol. Prolly the mk2...maybe the robo. I dont think they could handle how loud the sigma is or how hacked the ditto is, and the home brew...it just works lol. Nothing pretty there
    Oct 4, 2016 10:44 AM - danzca6: nice
Oct 4, 2016 10:46 AM - Geof: your going to yours right? Just waiting to hear back? Taking robo?
    Oct 4, 2016 10:49 AM - danzca6: robo is all I got man
Oct 4, 2016 10:49 AM - danzca6: yeah waiting on the final ok
Oct 4, 2016 10:50 AM - danzca6: I want to print a full e-nable hand and have it for display as well...got to get jumping on that project.
Oct 4, 2016 11:10 AM - Geof: Robo is good thing to have :) you have 2 ?
Oct 4, 2016 11:15 AM - danzca6: just one but the parts for a second
    Oct 4, 2016 11:16 AM - danzca6: well almost
Oct 4, 2016 11:29 AM - Geof: :) enable hand will be cool to have set up

Oct 4, 2016 11:30 AM - Geof: I was thinkin about that big ole marble maze lol
Oct 4, 2016 11:36 AM - danzca6: another good one...and interactive like they are looking for
Oct 4, 2016 11:53 AM - Geof: It should be amusing for sure
Oct 4, 2016 1:16 PM - KTMDirtFace: Saw the stuff above on Lokbuild and buildtak. I have never had a problem getting buildtak off in one peice. Also i can't remember ever wearing one out. Usually i removed it when I got bored or tired of it sticking so well.
Oct 4, 2016 1:18 PM - KTMDirtFace: I don't really like using buildtak on non removable beds though
    Oct 4, 2016 1:27 PM - daniel871: LOfnL [IMG]
Oct 4, 2016 1:45 PM - Geof: Good points ktm.

Oct 4, 2016 2:07 PM - danzca6: Something to wet your whistle as you wait for the mk2 to arrive
    Oct 4, 2016 2:13 PM - daniel871: I love that T-shirt.
Oct 4, 2016 2:27 PM - danzca6: Interesting that he has 60 people working with him now. Growing fast.
Oct 4, 2016 2:33 PM - danzca6: No plans to bundle the multi color upgrade either... We'll see
Oct 4, 2016 3:43 PM - Geof: Danzca tha ks for the the link more excited lol
Oct 4, 2016 5:02 PM - danzca6: Man... The duet wifi board I got just announced the Duex5 expansion board giving dual x drivers and up to 7 extruders... Holy crap
Oct 4, 2016 5:31 PM - Geof: Oh wow ! Thats insane. Thatd big one bug ass imoossible to run printer.
    Oct 4, 2016 5:31 PM - Geof: Maybe 7 extruders on a massive print bed all doing 1 print for.production runs :)
Oct 4, 2016 5:33 PM - danzca6: the possibilities would be endless...and like you said the frustration probably would be as well
    Oct 4, 2016 5:33 PM - danzca6: just pretty cool
Oct 4, 2016 5:33 PM - danzca6: one thing is that the drivers on the duet are hard wired
Oct 4, 2016 5:33 PM - danzca6: so this gives you 5 more drivers in case one fails
Oct 4, 2016 5:34 PM - danzca6: I really wish I had a second printer to use the duet on because I really don't want to tear into the robo until the winter
Oct 4, 2016 6:24 PM - Geof: Id imagine the robo will be cheaper after the c2 r2 ?
Oct 4, 2016 7:24 PM - daniel871: LOL if you think the R1 isn't going to remain the same price as the mid-level printer between the C2 & R2 since it has a heated bed.
    Oct 4, 2016 7:24 PM - daniel871: Or, rather, back to it's original MSRP of $899.

Oct 5, 2016 6:35 AM - WheresWaldo: How is everyone this morning?
Oct 5, 2016 6:35 AM - daniel871: It is literally a "We came up with something to give people that like to fidget"

Oct 5, 2016 6:37 AM - daniel871: I need to come up with something to make 5.5 million trolling a crowdfunding site.
Oct 5, 2016 6:37 AM - WheresWaldo: So basically dead after the kickstarter? $25 retail for a click pen that we already have in our desk drawer.
Oct 5, 2016 6:38 AM - WheresWaldo: I am just being contrary today, can't explain why.
Oct 5, 2016 6:38 AM - daniel871: Well yeah, but still. $5.5 million dollars is a pretty good haul depending on the overhead making the widgets and sending them out.
Oct 5, 2016 6:38 AM - daniel871: Small enough to send out in a 1st class envelope for $0.50 or whatever postage is now.
Oct 5, 2016 6:40 AM - WheresWaldo: Small package means $2.62 via First Class Mail, can't go in an envelope.
Oct 5, 2016 6:41 AM - WheresWaldo: Government mandated USPS lower pricing of FCS to $0.47
Oct 5, 2016 6:42 AM - Geof: Good morning waldo
Oct 5, 2016 6:42 AM - danzca6: I'm always surprised by how much it is to send some 3d printed parts to folks
    Oct 5, 2016 6:43 AM - WheresWaldo: Geof, what's shakin'?
Oct 5, 2016 6:43 AM - daniel871: Because you feel sympathy for the Mikes that are rolling their eyes today?
Oct 5, 2016 6:44 AM - danzca6: anyone going to the MRRF in March?
    Oct 5, 2016 6:45 AM - danzca6: Midwest Rep Rap Festival
Oct 5, 2016 6:45 AM - daniel871: I didn't even go to the local Maker Fair last weekend when the weather was great, why would I go to somewhere in the Midwest?
Oct 5, 2016 6:46 AM - danzca6: it should be a great time to meet a lot of folks interested in 3d printing
Oct 5, 2016 6:46 AM - WheresWaldo: Never had much desire to go to a Maker style event, supposed to be something in Charlotte this month.
Oct 5, 2016 6:47 AM - Geof: Nota thing avoiding working at work :) how about you
Oct 5, 2016 6:47 AM - Geof: Where is it at danz ?
    Oct 5, 2016 6:48 AM - danzca6: Indiana...about 3 hrs from me
Oct 5, 2016 6:48 AM - Geof: Hell thats about 3 hours from me too most likely
Oct 5, 2016 6:49 AM - danzca6: 2 day event and will have some youtubers there and Matt normally shows up as well
Oct 5, 2016 6:49 AM - danzca6: Mike Kelly went last year...not sure he will make it again
Oct 5, 2016 6:49 AM - Geof: Defianently maybe :) all depends on the workload ar the time
Oct 5, 2016 6:51 AM - WheresWaldo: I am sitting staring at a Newegg and Netflix windows, debating on whether or not to pull the trigger on 32GB more ram for my PC or watching Luke Cage, maybe even both.

Oct 5, 2016 6:53 AM - danzca6: Luke Cage is a good show so far... Only on ep 5
Oct 5, 2016 6:54 AM - WheresWaldo: I liked both Jessica Jones and Daredevil, so I expec Luke Cage to be of the same quality.
Oct 5, 2016 6:56 AM - danzca6: unfortunetly not family friendly so I can't be watching it with my kids around
Oct 5, 2016 6:57 AM - WheresWaldo: My kid is 25 and we usually watch together, so no issues there.
Oct 5, 2016 7:19 AM - daniel871: I only just recently finished what was on Netflix for Daredevil, so Jessica Jones is next, then Luke Cage.
Oct 5, 2016 7:19 AM - daniel871: Didn't care much for how much was cut from Elektra's story to give more Punisher, but Punisher was good so I guess it's a wash.

    Oct 5, 2016 9:48 AM - Toro1966: Amazon has the RObo for 599
    Oct 5, 2016 9:48 AM - Toro1966: In case anyone needs another
    Oct 5, 2016 10:03 AM - danzca6: honestly...I would spend $100 more on the mk2 kit...already have a great Robo
    Oct 5, 2016 10:08 AM - danzca6: . Robo featured in Hawaii
    Oct 5, 2016 10:35 AM - Toro1966: That's my plan - but it's really about 200 more with shipping. Again - still a great deal.
Oct 5, 2016 10:48 AM - danzca6: well...when it hits amazon prime again it will be free shipping :)
    Oct 5, 2016 11:55 AM - Geof: Shipping is only 75 bucks :)
    Oct 5, 2016 11:58 AM - danzca6: or....$75 towards multi extrusion
Oct 5, 2016 12:00 PM - Geof: Lol :) meh im impatient and really dont have high hopes for needing the 4 colors. Would be fun to play with but i imagine finiky...that said... ill buy it lol
Oct 5, 2016 12:00 PM - Geof: Unless they choose me to beta test lol
    Oct 5, 2016 2:01 PM - danzca6: Holy crap the forum logo just changed...haha
Oct 5, 2016 2:48 PM - Geof: Yea I noticed that this morning lol
Oct 5, 2016 2:51 PM - Geof: Danz printing anything fun today ?
Oct 5, 2016 3:34 PM - danzca6: Nope working and taxi for the kids tonight
Oct 5, 2016 3:44 PM - Geof: Ah gotya. Nothing wrong with that
Oct 5, 2016 3:53 PM - daniel871: Logo still looks the same to me, but I haven't done a hard refresh.
    Oct 5, 2016 3:55 PM - Toro1966: Mine's still down
Oct 5, 2016 3:55 PM - Toro1966: Between work and getting good parts printed - taken more time than I wanted.
Oct 5, 2016 3:55 PM - Toro1966: Reprinting the fan holders because they didn't fit right
Oct 5, 2016 3:56 PM - Geof: Yea after the refresh daniel
Oct 5, 2016 3:56 PM - Geof: Sorry to hear toro good thing you've got the kiddos to fall back on.
Oct 5, 2016 4:00 PM - Toro1966: absolutely. That said - I am pulling the trigger. Ordering the Prusa in the next day or two.
    Oct 5, 2016 4:02 PM - Toro1966: Guess I'll find out how good I am at assembly :)
Oct 5, 2016 4:03 PM - Toro1966: Does anyone with an E3DV6 that has the cartridge thermistor know what the setting in the firmware needs to be for it?
    Oct 5, 2016 4:04 PM - danzca6: 5
    Oct 5, 2016 4:04 PM - danzca6: Same as before just in a cartridge
    Oct 5, 2016 4:06 PM - danzca6: The mk2 wagon is getting full
    Oct 5, 2016 4:17 PM - Geof: Lol danz better hurry !
Oct 5, 2016 4:17 PM - Geof: Toro if ya have issues with it shoot me amessage
    Oct 5, 2016 4:21 PM - danzca6:
    Oct 5, 2016 4:22 PM - Geof: Yea I've been watching them :). I can't imagine modeling 4color ll
    Oct 5, 2016 4:22 PM - Toro1966: Thanks Geof and Danz!
    Oct 5, 2016 4:23 PM - danzca6: Modeling for 4 color... Josef needs to do a tutorial
Oct 5, 2016 4:24 PM - Geof: He seems pretty up front that it's NOT easy lol
Oct 5, 2016 4:25 PM - Geof: Im telling ya I'd play with it but can't see doing production runs with it like I do on my others
    Oct 5, 2016 4:26 PM - Toro1966: Do I only modify this line - TEMP_SENSOR_0 1
    Oct 5, 2016 4:27 PM - danzca6: Yep
Oct 5, 2016 4:27 PM - Toro1966: or do I need to modify the bed as well?
Oct 5, 2016 4:27 PM - danzca6: Not changing bed thermistor so can leave it
    Oct 5, 2016 4:28 PM - Toro1966: great - thanks. So I just change that line to be - TEMP_SENSOR_0 5
    Oct 5, 2016 4:28 PM - Toro1966: correct?
    Oct 5, 2016 4:28 PM - danzca6: Yeppers
Oct 5, 2016 4:29 PM - danzca6: Gave up on using the stock thermistor?
Oct 5, 2016 4:29 PM - Toro1966: Thanks! I'm getting the hang of it. I will say installing the E3D has been a pain in the but from a wires perspective. I spliced the connectors in so the stock robo harness works, but I have some extra wire - and there isn't much room to bundle that or you interfere with the x axis switch...
Oct 5, 2016 4:30 PM - Toro1966: I actually installed the E3D one when I saw the size difference. I am certain Matt is correct, but I don't trust that fiberglass sheathing inside the heater block to protect the thermistor. Because you have to push it all the way to the middle of the block
Oct 5, 2016 4:32 PM - Toro1966: probbaly won't get it back and up operating unitl Friday of all goes well.
Oct 5, 2016 4:32 PM - Toro1966: Killing me not to be able to print anything for the last week or so
Oct 5, 2016 4:44 PM - Geof: It can be time consuming for sure
    Oct 5, 2016 4:44 PM - Geof: Hi Harry!!!
    Oct 5, 2016 4:47 PM - danzca6: He was on earlier today
    Oct 5, 2016 4:48 PM - Geof: On again :)
    Oct 5, 2016 4:48 PM - danzca6: Toro I didn't realize you were down that long
    Oct 5, 2016 4:48 PM - danzca6: Probably the one changing logos
Oct 5, 2016 4:48 PM - Geof: I'd imagine so. He is the forum guru lol
Oct 5, 2016 4:49 PM - danzca6: Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain... The great and powerful OZ has spoken
Oct 5, 2016 4:50 PM - Geof: Toro cut the zip tie and run the extra wire back into the loom
    Oct 5, 2016 4:50 PM - Geof: Lmao danz
Oct 5, 2016 4:52 PM - danzca6: I think Robo needs to do an r2d2 community build like they did with robbie for a chance to win an r2 at ces2017
Oct 5, 2016 4:52 PM - Geof: That would be cool

Oct 5, 2016 4:53 PM - danzca6: I'm mean it all kinda fits with the exception of them not calling the c2 d2 instead
Oct 5, 2016 4:54 PM - Geof: Lol :) I like community events. I missed the first one, was hoping their would be more
    Oct 5, 2016 4:58 PM - Harry: hey guys
    Oct 5, 2016 4:58 PM - Harry: i'm around a little right now
Oct 5, 2016 4:58 PM - danzca6: Welp I just posted it... We'll see if Harry goes for it
    Oct 5, 2016 4:58 PM - Harry: we've been super busy
    Oct 5, 2016 4:59 PM - danzca6: Hey
Oct 5, 2016 4:59 PM - danzca6: Your ears must have been ringing
    Oct 5, 2016 4:59 PM - Harry: haha
Oct 5, 2016 4:59 PM - Harry: send me link to the post
Oct 5, 2016 5:00 PM - danzca6: What do you think of our new community build? I put it on the old Robbie thread
Oct 5, 2016 5:02 PM - danzca6: TKCC71 is now building a C3PO suit to go with his iron man... Might not be ready for CES
Oct 5, 2016 5:03 PM - Geof: Good to see you Harry!
Oct 5, 2016 5:03 PM - danzca6: Geof will probably print half of r2d2 with his army of printers
    Oct 5, 2016 5:05 PM - Geof: Lol :) I'll do half if that's what it takes
Oct 5, 2016 5:05 PM - danzca6: Bill printed about half of robbie I think
Oct 5, 2016 5:06 PM - Geof: Lol! That's awesome ! Isn't it against the rules to use a non robo?
    Oct 5, 2016 5:06 PM - Geof: ;-)
    Oct 5, 2016 5:06 PM - danzca6: Not if you don't tell Harry
    Oct 5, 2016 5:08 PM - Geof: lol fair enough !
Oct 5, 2016 5:08 PM - Geof: The mk only makes 5...not an army yet
Oct 5, 2016 5:08 PM - danzca6: Folks will be getting their C2 printers... Could have some smaller parts for them to print
    Oct 5, 2016 5:10 PM - danzca6: Well tacos and enchiladas are calling...bbl
    Oct 5, 2016 5:10 PM - Geof: Cya in a bit
Oct 5, 2016 6:36 PM - danzca6: man this whole powder blue theme is making my eyes wig out...will take some getting used to.
Oct 5, 2016 6:38 PM - Printed Solid: aargh! make it stop. can we turn it off?
    Oct 5, 2016 6:46 PM - danzca6: Right
Oct 5, 2016 6:47 PM - danzca6: It just messes with your eyes
Oct 5, 2016 7:05 PM - Geof: Lol its....distracting. i cant leave it up like i use to
Oct 5, 2016 7:09 PM - daniel871: I like how the new colors mean that notifications no longer grab your attention like they used to.
Oct 5, 2016 7:13 PM - Toro1966: Hey guys weird issue/question. I printed out two of marquis johnsons clip on fan holders for the e3d. The fans fit in fine and the clip on and off perfectly. They are identical copies of one another. Yet one has plenty of clearance off the bed and one is much lower, slightly touching the bed. Can't figure out why
Oct 5, 2016 7:14 PM - Geof: Flip the rear with the front. Same issue ? Chances are its not perfectly seated
    Oct 5, 2016 7:15 PM - Toro1966: Same issue. Tried that.
    Oct 5, 2016 7:15 PM - Geof: On the backside only ?
Oct 5, 2016 7:16 PM - Geof: Stock carriage or printed one ?
Oct 5, 2016 7:16 PM - Toro1966: And they seem seated just fine. I will say one side toughes the heater block and the other does not. Maybe I should try taking off the silicone boot and see if I have clearance
    Oct 5, 2016 7:16 PM - Toro1966: Stock carriage.
    Oct 5, 2016 7:16 PM - Toro1966: Front side is one that's off.
Oct 5, 2016 7:17 PM - Geof: Hmm thats odd. I wouldnt think the sock would be in the way. Odd. Is the heater towards the front or rear ?
Oct 5, 2016 7:17 PM - Toro1966: Have my son modifying the front slightly by shortening it. It's printing now and we'll see if it works. Not sure why it is not working though.
Oct 5, 2016 7:18 PM - Toro1966: Heater is just lock stock was. Goes from right to left with wires coming off the right.
Oct 5, 2016 7:21 PM - Toro1966: Guess I'll see if this modified one fits. I'm pooped for the evening. 430 comes too quickly. You guys have a great night.
Oct 5, 2016 7:30 PM - Geof: You have a good night as well. Ill ponder on that. Very odd

Oct 6, 2016 5:28 AM - Geof: Good Morning all
    Oct 6, 2016 5:28 AM - danzca6: Morning Bill
    Oct 6, 2016 5:28 AM - danzca6: Morning Geof
Oct 6, 2016 5:29 AM - Geof: How you doing danzca
Oct 6, 2016 5:29 AM - danzca6: going well...still trying to get used to the new colors here
Oct 6, 2016 5:30 AM - danzca6: only about 1.5 hours left for the prometheus kickstarter...I think the prusa announcement took some wind out of that campaign
Oct 6, 2016 5:31 AM - Geof: Yea that was some bad timing. Unfortunate
    Oct 6, 2016 5:33 AM - danzca6: did you buy one?
Oct 6, 2016 5:41 AM - Geof: Nope. Passed on it. Has
Oct 6, 2016 5:41 AM - Geof: Gnaa buy production run. I dont have an open printer to put it on anymore lol
Oct 6, 2016 5:44 AM - Geof: With the job i signed last night even the mk2 (that isn't here) is pretty booked through december lol
    Oct 6, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: I see they have 1 early bird upgrade left
    Oct 6, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: haha
Oct 6, 2016 5:45 AM - danzca6: so what jobs are you running on your printers?
Oct 6, 2016 5:53 AM - Geof: Air Vents for Ebikes is on 2 machines, the sigma is running a 2 material coupler, the home brew is running an oddball looking fork like tool that I dont know what it does lol
Oct 6, 2016 5:54 AM - danzca6: interesting...how did you get your name out there for doing these kind of jobs?
Oct 6, 2016 5:57 AM - danzca6: and is this your full time job or just a side job?
Oct 6, 2016 5:58 AM - Geof: Its my full time after work job lol. Just started promting stuff for people and flower shops passing out buisness cards. The pachinko guys helped me get the ball rolling on big jobs lol
    Oct 6, 2016 6:01 AM - danzca6: you're a busy man
Oct 6, 2016 6:02 AM - danzca6: fasinating really...I would love to get to that point where I can have a side job of printing for folks.
    Oct 6, 2016 6:03 AM - danzca6: heck...dreaming big....it would be great to have a 3d printing related job as a full time
Oct 6, 2016 6:04 AM - Geof: Feast or famine my friend. I run the jobs to pay for the hobby lol
Oct 6, 2016 6:06 AM - Geof: Im working on that now actually(full time printing job) then i wont have after hour print work, all the jobs will go to the buisness :)
    Oct 6, 2016 6:08 AM - danzca6: living the dream
Oct 6, 2016 6:08 AM - Geof: Danzca make up some buisness cards and hit uo the hobby shops, flower shops, all the "geeky" markets with some cool prints. :)
Oct 6, 2016 6:10 AM - Geof: We have an old hobby shop that was buying model buildings for train collectors(expensive runs) then he started asking for other stuff and started giving files and what not. Good way to supplement the hobby :)
Oct 6, 2016 6:10 AM - Geof: About once a quarter a few used car salesman have me print promo crap with their names.on it. Couple hundred pieces to give to people looking at cars :)
Oct 6, 2016 6:11 AM - Geof: I like those jobs, the salesman have to buy all their own promo stuff so a box of keychains at our pricing is awesome to them
Oct 6, 2016 6:12 AM - danzca6: I have a couple hobby shops here...will have to start looking harder into that
Oct 6, 2016 6:19 AM - danzca6: with true dual extrusion with two hotends, can you have different nozzle sizes?
Oct 6, 2016 6:24 AM - daniel871: I think that is possible, but may make things tricky depending on your slicer.
    Oct 6, 2016 6:25 AM - daniel871: Are you thinking the standard .4mm for the shells and a larger .8mm for infill/supports?
    Oct 6, 2016 6:25 AM - daniel871: (so that infill/supports theoretically print more rapidly)?
Oct 6, 2016 6:31 AM - Geof: yes you can run two different size nozzles (my only dual extruder experience is the sigma) with S3D, you use to profiles. Profile on for left, profile two for right. Then each setting is independent of the other.
Oct 6, 2016 6:31 AM - Geof: most people use the larger nozzle like Daniel said, infill and support leaving the fine resolution for the detail work.
    Oct 6, 2016 6:31 AM - Geof: i'm honestly pretty happy with .4 or .6 on both.
Oct 6, 2016 6:59 AM - danzca6: thanks...yes I was wondering if there were options like that Daniel. I was also wondering if one nozzle could be set for high detail (.25mm) and the other regular (.4/.5mm) with the same filament just to make the bulk of the model print faster but still get the fine detail work you might need for say printing lettering or logos. Of course modeling would be the challenge there.
Oct 6, 2016 7:00 AM - danzca6: Speaking of high detail, I hear that E3D has a new nozzle coming that is supposed to be able to do finer detail than there current offering. That will be interesting to see when it is released.
Oct 6, 2016 7:07 AM - danzca6: Bill did you finish fixing your gas leak
Oct 6, 2016 7:13 AM - Geof: I didnt hear that but i print so slow at .25 nozzlr i think my printer would go backwards any slower ;-).
    Oct 6, 2016 7:23 AM - danzca6: https://mobile.twitter.com/RichRap3D/status/781421948429533184?s=09
Oct 6, 2016 8:30 AM - Geof: very cool. Lots of new stuff this year. Gonna have to sell my fleet and upgrade lol
Oct 6, 2016 9:14 AM - NFOsec: Toy: (if you ever show up again) check this out. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1199521315/sisyphus-the-kinetic-art-table?ref=NewsDT1xOct0616
Oct 6, 2016 9:15 AM - NFOsec: danz: such as what? I've got all the available nozzle sizes, but without a good extrusion system (such as my Bondtech) the risk is probably greater for clogs, jams, and peanut butter. :)
Oct 6, 2016 9:19 AM - danzca6: they have a new size coming...no idea on the details yet
Oct 6, 2016 9:20 AM - danzca6: Toy hasn't been on in a long long time...may want to PM him
    Oct 6, 2016 9:20 AM - danzca6: that is a cool table
    Oct 6, 2016 10:38 AM - daniel871: Hahahahhaaha! http://metro.co.uk/2016/10/06/stude...r-backside-during-sex-with-boyfriend-6174685/

Oct 6, 2016 6:13 PM - Geof: That looks like a walking mess my friend lol
    Oct 6, 2016 6:13 PM - Toro1966: That's exactly what I was thinking. Plus - no reviews etc
Oct 6, 2016 6:14 PM - Geof: Just thinking about the nonstop clogging non working mess for 70 bucks lol
Oct 6, 2016 6:15 PM - Geof: 70 bucks is 1/10 of that mk2 :) prolly take 10 of them to get one print...bam got a whole new printer :)
Oct 6, 2016 6:16 PM - Toro1966: yup. Id rather pay for Joe's when they start shipping. Finally got my printer back together. Now tomorrow I get to calibrate the extruder, upload the new firmware for themristor and check everything out.
Oct 6, 2016 6:16 PM - Geof: Glad to hear it ! Getting ichy not printing ?
Oct 6, 2016 6:25 PM - danzca6: Glad to hear your back in action Toro
