Mine did this exact same thing this past week.

Where the big chunk is, diagonal from the lower left to the upper right.

Im going to try using Blue tape to see if I can still print.

You can get a piece of window glass cut and clip onto your chipped bed :)

Lowes and hardware stores like it cut glass in my area. I cut glass old school when the need arises with a 2.00 glass cutter and windows i pick up on the curb :)

So far so good, I have used both tempered and reg. Reg window glass is great because if it breaks/chips...it's cheap. Mind the sharp edges. If you have it cut ask and see if they will bevel and round for you,

So, I work with computers and last night it never hit till I walked thru the door today. I have about 15 dead iMac computers with the glass covered lcd that just pop off, held on by magnets. Quick measure with my tape shows they are 1/16 inch thick. Would this work?

For a substrate cover on top of the existing bed, maybe.

No way as a replacement sheet though. Far too thin to support the weight of a print by itself.

agreed, just remove the magnets and give it a try (clipped ontop of your bed) worst thing is it wont work and you pull it off and go for window pane:D

So... the glass plate on the front of the Apple iMacs are not the way to go. The glass is very thin and every attempt to cut the glass resulted in splinters and spiderwebs. Was a worth while try. I will be hitting up the local hobby store that also mounts pictures and should have plenty of left over scraps I can pick through.

I did try Geof's recommendation of looking for windows on the curb, nothing yet.

Have a local hobby shop that also frames art. She had plenty of scrap glass that was larger then 10 x 15 so she cut a piece down to fit. Installed it last night, but didn't get to print due to the World Series being on.

Question, do I have to make any changes to the slicer software now that the glass is on the bed or will the auto level feature zero out with the new height?

The homing of Z will determine the limit for you and the ABL probing will do ok with compensating for the rest.
