Been watching Angus's videos with the lattice test. I'm not a patrion to him though I probably should be.

But he was showing off prints that people made of his test.

He liked this one that is customizable.

I'm printing it right now with the default non customized one on my Monoprice Select Mini with stock simplfy3d settings ans Robo3d's stock blue small roll of PLA.

I'll be damned so far its coming out really good.

I'll post up pictures when it is done, its not very far into it like not onto the reverse overhangs yet..but its looking real good so far.

I'll have to try it on my robo soon.

    So far.

Looks great. Are you going to do this on your Robo as well?

I did this print and it failed at the very end. The z-axis all of a sudden dropped. I will post a video link after one more post.

Anyone print this with an R1?

The print off the Monoprice Select Mini looks sweet. My colleague bought this printer a month ago. I don't want to show him until I can print it equally as well on my R1.

Here is a video on what happened.

Nothing broke. I put everything back together and the z-axis is functioning normally.

    Any thoughts?

Did you put any post gcode in?

Good catch! I did. I had a Z20 coordinate park position in my ending script which was copied from one of my other S3D processes. I had added the Z coordinate to clear the top surface of a print as it crossed to the park position. It was a stupid mistake which I corrected.

Feeling dumb but confident the issue was resolved, I ran another print of the lattice. Take a look what happened (Caution. It's painful to watch).

Needless to say, I will be down for a couple of days to replace the hotend.

I definitely would like to identify the problem before I start printing again. I think the Z coordinate was one problem but it has been removed. I double checked. I also downloaded a new stl file of the lattice from thingiverse to eliminate the possibility of a corrupt file.

What else would cause the Z-axis to fail?

Anybody else print this on a R1 successfully?

    Good Times!!!

    Ouch! That truly was painful.

Yeah, you definitely have something in your gcode. That kind of thing has nothing to do with the model. I've seen a number of these 'torture tests' printed successfully on Robos..
