    Hi guys,

Is it possible for me to change the hot end from 1.75mm to 3mm?

If possible, how troublesome would it be?

    Thanks

The team was originally using 3mm I believe, So the extruder may be able to work with it. Is there a particular reason why you want 3mm? Most people are moving away from it 3mm now that 1.75mm filament is cheaper/same price.

I agree the trends is to move to 1.75mm filament I am very curious as to why you are going in the opposite direction

The extruder body itself will except 3mm filament so that is not a problem, the hot end however will probably not.

You would need to change to 3mm hotend. Which is easy, just remove two screws that hold the 1.75 hot end, and install 3mm hot end.

Oh really? I can't seem to find a cheap place to purchase 1.75mm filaments.. The cheapest I found for 3.0mm filament including worldwide shipping is from here :

Does any 3.0mm hot end would just fit into the robo3dprinter? Sorry I'm quite new to the 3d printing scene

you could always buy the 3mm and run it through a filastruder if you had one :)

That's $15 with shipping? Wow, I'm not sure if I would even trust that filament :/

    I wouldn't trust $15/With S&H for filament.

Cheap filament just gives headaches, at least from my experience. As to a 3mm hot end, I would like to be able to run that size filament as well, since my current printer has a 3mm, and I have about 10 pounds of filament I would like to use up before buying more.

Figure it isn’t a bad idea to put a pseudo legal disclaimer in my posts in case I steer someone wrong. :)

Is it because of the inconsistency in the diameter across the filament? Do you think an extruder might fix it?

which 3.0mm hot end would you get for the robo 3d printer?

Since I’m being lazy and don’t want to search. What extruder design is the printer coming with? For some reason the Gregs design pops into my head, but I’m not sure. I was thinking that it might be possible that the Jhead I have right now will work on the Robo, and if it does then I can save on filament for a while or buy a second hot end to have 2 printers running.
