3D systems (aka cubify) gets into the 3d scanner business.

If it works as well as they demo I'm impressed for a $400 device. Sadly it is only Windows only at this point. It is getting closer to home-brew solutions pricing for the portability unlike Makerbot's Digitizer solution for $1.5k

Hopefully this will drive some of the prices down and drive up creativity in the hardware.
