Looks interesting for sure....but sounds like it would cost a crap-ton for a spool. Not sure how many would be willing to print a item that costs $100 in material and watch the print fail halfway through. ACK!

I do love the idea of pushing the materials envelope though. Seems like an E3D hotend may become almost a requirement since the stock robo one is limited to 230 or so.

You certainly need to have your printer dialed-in first :)
It is almost that way now (in frustration alone rather than cost) if a big print fails.

I imagine in some, if not most, cases this would not be for larger parts. Well, not really large ones at least.

Interesting. Do you know what would be the cost per spool?

I tend to agree with mikethinks that the price will be somewhere on the order of a 'crap ton'
At a weight of 4X PLA, shipping alone is going to get pricier.

I don't think this will need a special hot end since the material that is actually melting and flowing is the PLA.

I'm going to guess that they will supply it in smaller quantities so that it is affordable to at least try.

Someone on the reddit forum mentioned the idea of melting out the PLA and infusing it with molten bronze, which could open up some really awesome opportunities.

I'm definitely interested in giving this a try. I liked the idea of melting out the PLA as well

I haven't been given distributor info on either of these yet. Looks like they are going to be keeping them direct sales for at least a little longer. I want them just as bad as you!
They do have both listed for sale at colorfabb.com under specialty filaments. I'll let everyone know as soon as I can get some.

Not cheap but, if it is as good as they claim, worth every penny.

    Remember it's also much denser.

Total from colorabb (with shipping) is just under $100 euros for 1500g (350g equivalent(ish)).

This is where dual nozzles would be useful as you could use a cheaper material for the infill as that is not seen

Oh man that is so freakin' cool. And now makes me want to try one of the paste extruders and make something out of precious metal clay.

Printed I saw your tweet. Is it conductive?

Sorry to say that it is not. Although I would think that you might be able to tinker around with reflowing it and what not to get some degree of conductivity.

Any thoughts on accelerated nozzle wear? I wonder if use of this material will increase the nozzle diameter or if it is inconsequential.
