    I was able to fix Cura 15.06.02 as far as I am aware, but I am on the east coast far from my printer (on the West Coast) so I haven't done extensive testing yet. But slices are much quicker, and the interface is BEAUTIFUL!

    I will make a video about how to do this when I am back in town.

    Step One: Just in case...Keep 15.04 DO NOT UNISTALL YOUR CURRENT VERSION OF CURA
    1.png
    Step Two: Download Cura 15.06.02 here
    2.png
    Step Three: Install Cura 15.06.02
    3.png
    Step Four: Open Cura and Create Printer
    4.png
    Step Five: Change Mode to Advanced
    5.png
    Step Six: Machine > Configure Printer
    6.png
    Step Seven: Select the following (in image)
    7.png
    Step Eight: Close Cura
    8.png
    Step Nine: Download attached "Cura 15.06.02 Marquis Fix.zip"
    9.png
    Step Ten: UnZip and place on desktop
    10.png
    Step Eleven: Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Cura_15.06.02\resources\images
    11.png
    Step Twelve: Rename "Ultimaker2backplate" to "Ultimaker2backplate(stock)"
    12.png
    Step Thirteen: Drag new "Ultimaker2backplate" into folder
    13.png
    Step Fourteen: Open C:\Program Files (x86)\Cura_15.06.02\resources\settings
    14.png
    Step Fifteeneen: Rename "fdmprinter.json" to "fdmprinter(stock).json"
    15.png
    Step Sixteen: Drag new "fdmprinter.json" into folder
    16.png
    Step Seventeen: Reopen Cura
    17-22.png
    Step Eighteen: Machine > Configure Printer
    18.png
    Step Nineteen: Select the following (in image)
    19.png
    Step Twenty: Change build volume
    20.png
    Step Twenty-One: Close Cura

    The G-Code I used in the fixed .json file is:
    Code:
    "machine_settings": {
      "machine_start_gcode": {
      "default": "M140S{print_bed_temperature}\nM104S{print_temperature}\nM107;FANS OFF\nG28;HOME ALL AXIS\nM84;KILL MOTORS\nM109S{print_temperature}\nG1Z2;RAISE Z-AXIS TO 2MM\nG1F10000;SET FEEDRATE FAST\nG1X5Y5;MOVE CLOSE TO HOME\nG28;HOME ALL AXIS\nG29;PROBE BED\nG1 F10000;SET FEEDRATE FAST\nG1 Z2;RAISE Z-AXIS TO 2MM\nG92 E0;ZERO EXTRUDER\nM190S{print_bed_temperature}\nG1X20Y20;MOVE CLOSE TO HOME\nG1Z.2;LOWER Z-AXIS TO .2MM\nG1F1500;SET FEEDRATE SLOW\nG1X200E20;CLEAR FILLAMENT\nG92E0;ZERO EXTRUDER\nG1F{travel_speed};START"
      },
      "machine_end_gcode": {
      "default": "G92E0;ZERO EXTRUDER\nM104S0;EXTRUDER HEATER OFF\nM140S0;HEATED BED OFF\nG1F10000;SET FEEDRATE FAST\nG1X5Y5;MOVE CLOSE TO HOME\nG28X0Y0;HOME X/Y-AXIS\nG1F15000X0Y220;MOVE Y TO BACK\nG1F15000X210Y220;MOVE X TO RIGHT\nM84;TURN MOTORS OFF"
      },

    Hey guys, one of the Cura developers here. If you make such changes, could you also create a pull request? This would mean that this hackish approach is no longer needed and everyone can benefit from it.

    Same goes for bugfixes / new features / profiles / new printers. Make a pull request and if everything is okay we will merge it.

    Great info Marquis!

    Coming from matter control, I can't find the control panel. How should I use it to level your bed, heat up the nozzle/print area, and then export to the printer?
    (sorry for n00b questions, still learning).

    I think PronterFace UI is in the newest revision as well. So it should work through USB.

    Any ideas how to enable it? I opened up my plugin settings and saw that usb printing was enabled. I am not able to find any place to enter g code or enable PronterFaceUI.

    Probably a better place to ask this is with the Cura folks, it's their code after all.

    Whoa, there is no interface. That's weird... well maybe it'll be developed later in 15.06.03 and most of us have SD Card readers anyway. To those who don't have the reader, 15.04 is still wonderful.

    There is somewhat of an USB interface, but it's rather simple. The main reason for this is that we don't officially support USB printing for the UM2 (it is possible, but using the SD card just works way better). The USB-printing only lets you stream sliced g-code.

    The USB printing is a separate plugin, so if someone wants to make a better interface / add more functionality, it should be relatively easy to do. We want more other 3D printing companies to also work on Cura, as Ultimaker is now paying for 90ish % of the development, but a lot of other companies use it. This is okay, but it would be fairer if others also contributed on parts they find important as well.

    The support you guys linked to is for people who actually have an Ultimaker. If you have questions about Cura, you need to ask them on the github. We will only fix bugs there, not give you advice on how to use Cura (Buy an UM, then you get to contact our support staff ;)). If there are printer companies that want support for Cura for their printers they should contact us so we can set something up.

    Except if Robo has to write some code, it would be better if they hired someone who knows something about coding as well as 3D printing. After all Ultimaker has done a ton of work on Cura and it is OSS, so Robo should feel an obligation to give it back to the community.

    As far as OSS models for hardware manufacturers, take a look at what 3DR has done with autonomous flight controllers for the RC crowd. They fund almost 100% of the development of their OSH and OSS projects and don't complain about funding. They make their money by delivering a quality made hardware product. Even if others clone it, 3DR still has a very loyal following. They support their software development as much as any software company can in the OSS community.

    You can use the Cura engine or Slic3r to slice with the Mattercontrol interface. Go Advanced Controls>Configuration>Slice Engine>CuraSlicer.

    Cheer!

    I know that, but I meant Cura the software. Not Cura Engine

    Robo is currently paying matterhackers to make their buggy software. Better use giving that money to ultimaker and have them develop a custom cura for robo's

    I haven't had any luck with Cura. But people seem to like it so I've kept trying to get it to work. Prints look nice coming of it, my interface has no way of using the plugins that have been enabled. Anyone else having this problem with Cura 15.06.02?

    Stick with 15.04 until they add additional printer support.
