Drilling Boro?

Just wondering if normal folk can drill boro in the comfort of their own home. Will it shatter like safety glass? What kind of bit is needed? Lubrication? Speed?
It would be nice if it was possible so as to utilize new y axis rails and incorporate an adjustable spring system. You can buy neodymium magnets with a center hole that would allow a screw placement beneath that extended up through the bed if the holes were in the correct position.

You can always use existing holes to make bracket with whatever you want on it.
