    Hi everyone,
After having repeated connection issues with Repetier-Host Mac 0.56, I decided to try Cura, to see if it would work more reliably. The first time I used it, it worked fine, connecting immediately with no issues. But the next time I tried to print something, it came up with an error message saying it couldn't find the correct baud rate. I tried again, but got the same result, so I tried quitting Cura and turning off the printer, then turning the printer back on and restarting Cura. It still came up with the same error message, so I took a look at the error report. Interestingly, it said that it had tried a baud rate of 250000, and hadn't been able to connect to the printer.
This is the latest version of Cura, running on a Macbook Pro with OSX 10.7.5. I am currently using a powered USB hub to connect with the printer. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

I'm not a mac user but, have you checked if the USB is going into a power savings mode? ether the port or hub maybe doing it and dropping the connection due to lack of activity.

No, the USB isn't going into power saving mode. However, I did find out that the OS on my computer is somehow corrupted, and needs to be reinstalled. Maybe that could be the problem? I should be able to get that fixed in the next few days. In the meantime, here's the error report from Cura:

Even if I manually set the baud rate in "Machine Settings" to 250000, it still won't connect. I also tried manually selecting the serial port, and it still couldn't find the printer.

seems like people are having connectivity issues with the printer in general. so, perhaps it has nothing to do with your computer or the software. Browse around for some of the other connection threads and maybe there will be something there to help.

I did see in another thread that someone replaced one of the boards in their printer for around $20. That may be the way to go, provided that there's no delicate soldering required. I've also seen references to "flashing" boards, something to do with firmware, I think, but I haven't looked into it yet.

The Arduino board does not look to require any soldering (The Ramps board is mounted on top of the Arduino board if you look underneath). Not had any problems yet myself, but upgrading that is not a bad idea. You have to reload the "firmware" (really just the software loaded on the Arduino in this case) if you do replace it, but you can download that from the forums here as well.

That's probably the route I'll go, but I sent the Robo team a message through the Technical Support form describing my issues, so I figure I'll wait until I hear back from them.

Have u tried updating the firmware ?
I have no issues with CURA. Connects every time on automatic mode.
I tried to set the rate manually and it failed :)

What OS? Looks like a Macintosh, make sure you set the baud rate correctly (115k I think, it is less than the normal setting for a PC).

10.9 macintosh. I tried manually setting the baud rate to 115k, but here's where it stalls on now:

Also when I try the bed leveling wizard it says it cannot connect.

It has been found that a powered USB hub will help with the Macs and connection issues.
If you have one handy, give it a try.
FWIW, I use one on my PC as well.

Power hub is an excuse. Dont get me wrong but it would have been the dumbest thing i'd have to buy to resolve the problem.

    Most likely driver is corrupted.
I had my ROBO act exactly the same. At some point i wasnt able to connect at all or Windows would not recognize it.

My solution was to install driver from a different source
http://reprap.org/wiki/Taurino provides driver that solved my problem, but you have MAC so good luck.

One thing i can recommend is to plug your robo to Windows computer and reflash firmware using driver provided in the link above, or what ever driver works.

The Macs have different USB specs (on the electronics side) that are not as 'robust' and using a powered hub replaces their USB port with one that is more standard*, less Apple.
    Some data here:

    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4049

It is really the amount of current the port can source that is the difference.

*in this case by standard I mean compared to all the other electronics out there, not standard as compared to the specs... they totally meet the specs.
