I'll check but I think it was an extruder problem. Just weird that it was only on that one side. I know if I have surfaces visible in Catia when I save a model as an STL it will have problems in simplify. I'll check at work tomorrow if there's anything.

So I ran all the error fixing in simplify and my solid came out as a jumbled mess. Hopefully this was just a problem with my STL file but I don't see it missing layers in simplify. Thanks for the help, just have to find some glue to make sure it didn't break apart. May just try to plastic weld it then sand it.

So i think i figured out the cause of my problem. The case fan below the board is dead. I think the stepper drivers eventually just overheated. I ran a print last night that screwed up about 3 hours into it. Just switched out the fan and i'm going to mess with it some more. I remember reading a thread about this but didn't put two and two together.

That will do it. You can (in a pinch) leave the cover off.
My betas have no bottom cover and I mounted the fan out the side.

yes...amazing what that loud little pain of a fan does for the ramps. I hope that does it for you. You see all sorts of issues when the fan is dead or not plugged in.

I had that happen to me but I plugged the fan in backwards.

Well im pretty sure the ramps board is shot. Is it possible to just replace the one board? I have zero knowledge on this, time to research but i am burnt out!

Yep. RAMPS is a plug-in daughtercard for the arduino Mega

Well I have the ramps board rewired up. Is there an advantage of replacing the arduino board while I'm at it with the one you guys showed me on Amazon?

Not really. If it is good leave it.
Having spares is of course always nice :)

No go. I think i burned up the FET? Again. I've had this silicon bed heater running for months now but it seems like the same problem this guy had.

That still doesn't solve why my extruder isn't working. ahh!

Thanks for all the help so far guys. Was hoping to get it up and running tonight but i have stuff going on.

About to start back on this thing but I think i just need to build a Herculien! Something is toast with this one. Probably going to order a refurb Robo tomorrow to get me by then research and possibly just build one. A big box would be nice but i just realized it's only 12"x8"? Not very "big box" if you ask me.

720 ci compared to 1152 ci build volume is big. Also, the quality parts used in the BB and the motion design makes it a good value.

True, just wish it was bigger. I still haven't even found a price for it.

Well I've been switching out plugs for each axis at the ramps board and at the motors and the only conclusion I've came up with is the wiring going from my ramps to the extruder motor is bad somehow.

    Would this Nema 17 work?

    https://www.amazon.com/Stepping-Mot...e=UTF8&qid=1472341192&sr=8-1&keywords=nema+17

I can only get the wiring by Tuesday but i can get the motor by Monday. Probably just order both. I can't see where the wiring is bad but if i switch out the wiring on my extruder with the one for my X axis then it works fine. Fn weird! Still doesn't solve my heated bed problem now but i have a different Ramps board coming tomorrow to mess with.

yes that should work fine for an extruder. They just put the same sized ones as the X and Y because they buy in bulk. Don't need much for an extruder geared the way ours is. So you should be fine with that one. I have a tiny pancake stepper sitting here for my Titan extruder. Just make sure you double check what the current should be set at with the drivers. May have to adjust a bit up or down. It's cheap so no big deal to have a spare on the shelf.

Sanity check with an extruder calibration when done and you will be fine.
