This is a preliminary design. I don't think the motor will mechanically interfere with the end stop mount. I also put the reinforcement on the big side of the mount under the carriage but I don't think that will be an issue.

I'll be printing this week after next but, if anyone wants to do the work of testing and modifying the file while I'm out of town next week, I'd be OK with that. ;)

Looking closer at printability, it would make sense to move the reinforcement to the other side and make it flush with the bottom.

OK, I did the changes and then Fusion 360 went down. Blech. I'll post it tomorrow.

OK, the changes have been made. This should print without the need for additional supports.

Revised. Previous designs would not work due to a major positioning issue. This has a *chance* of working but I'll still expect one more revision before I'm happy with it.

v30 is confirmed functional as far as I can tell here without a Robo.

However, the Hot end is difficult to get to and change. The other design idea I have would be to rotate the motor 90 degrees and place the nozzle assembly on the leading edge. This may lead to uneven load on the front and back bearings and I don't know how much of a problem it is.

In the meantime, this design will work.

I designed the longitudinal version. I knocked 8mm off of the depth and you may be able to get by without supports. This version is structurally much simpler but the nozzle is now not centered in the carriage and I don't know if this will lose you some X axis travel. Anyone with a Robo that cares to chime in (or just modify this model so that I have a perfect version when I get mine), please do so.

Based on feedback I've received, the nozzle needs to be towards the center of the X carriage. I've created a pontoon version here which still holds four bearings.

Bah, I left the fillets on the internal edges when I constructed the pontoon version. Once the test prints, I'll re-export with the fixed fillets.

OK, I fixed the last round of issues. IF the distance between the bearing holes is correct, this will work as a production version. I printed a test at 10% fill and it's pretty rigid. I'm going to reprint at 50% for my production carriage.

Pictures of the print. I was worried that the motor would unbalance the carriage but it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I'm using the E3D hot end but any J Head should work.

I like the design, small, simple, easy to feed filament. Have you used to EZStruder on other printers or is this your first time? Since it is relatively new, I have not seen many reviews other them lacking torque with 3mm filament. Have you experienced any problems feeding 1.75 filament? I am very interested in using dual independent EZStruder's on a printer that I am designing. These may fit on the Y axis instead of using Bowden feeds. I still will have to work out the numbers, but it does look promising.

I'm using the same basic design on my ToM with no problems up to 80mm/s. others have done much higher but I won't be able to test until my i3 is completed.

I may be able to run some tests when I get back to the office.
