When attempting to test fan operation after installing a different parts cooling fan, I found the codes to turn the fan on and off. Worked fine via Matter Control Terminal. MC showed the fan indicator on and off as well.

Then, on a whim tried to send the code to set the fan at different speeds. While MC displayed the fan speeds I sent, the fan itself did nothing.

    Is there a secret?

Has to be a variable speed fan (many are, some are not) if you want to change speed, but other than that it should work.
The parts fan is normally a variable speed fan on the RAMPS (12vdc, variable speed).

Changing the fan did the trick.
