I haven't used it yet because I already use Inventor.

However, I went to a SpaceClaim seminar showing its CAD program with the ability to edit STL file straight. It works differently from AutoCAD or Solidworks. There are some features which look very easy to use, like Push/Pull feature. The software would cost around $4000.

DesignSpark Mechanical looks like a strip down version of SpaceClaim's CAD program. I do not know how much features are being stripped away, but I guess that it may be good enough to do simple 3D modeling for 3D printing purpose. It may not be as easy to use as the full version of SpaceClaim.

Since the software is free, people can just try it out to see whether it's worthwhile for them to use it or not.
