    Hi All

My Robo3d is on its way to me at last, so thought i'd stop by to say hi!

This will be my first foray into 3d printing, so i'm expecting a bit of a learning curve, but i do have an electronics and engineering background so i'm familiar with all the principles, as well as being decent with some design software.

My printer will be used mostly to assist in model making. I'll be making additional parts, details etc that are missing from injection kits, but also to help with scratchbuilding.

On my "to do" list, is an interior for a Tamiya 1/16th scale Tiger 1 tank. The model is about 60cm long overall, so theres lots of roon inside for detailing.

I'm also currently working on a 1/14th scale scratchbuilt US M1070 8 wheel drive Heavy Equipment Transport. This will actually be a full radio control model, and the chassis/gearbox/axles/running gear are already built, now i'm working on the body and bits and pieces on it. Have got a fair bit already drawn up and ready to print, so will be keeping occupied once the printer arrives!

I've got an E3d V5 ready to go, and have an extra 0.25mm tip for it once i've got the hang of printing with the stock extruder. Will be pushing the printer to see how fine i can get details to print.

Looking forward to it, even when things go wrong, so long as i learn from my mistakes!

This is my model so far, though not everything will be printed. The squareish cab ive already built from sheet styrene, and some of the details will be from brass mesh sheet, ali or brass rods, or even cut/folded aluminium sheet. This truck will be about 180mm wide, 600mm long.

    Overall:

And further for the winch mechanism:

    The cab is already done:

Nice. I would install the E3D as soon as you've printed the parts cooling fan bracket for it. Actually, people have had great results with my Robo3D fan duct and the E3D v5. It's on thingiverse and includes instructions and other peoples makes of it. A fan duct will produce better results for bridging and tricky angles.
