    1kg of 1.75mm ABS on spool $30
    How many meters ?

I need it to estimate the final model cost.
    Thanks

The density of ABS is approximately 1.04 g/cc
    1 kg=1,000g
    1000÷1.04= 961.538 cubic centimeters/spool
    radius of filament: 1.75÷2= 0.875mm
    0.875ˆ2= 0.766
    0.766mm X π= 2.406 mmˆ2
    0.002406 cc/mm
    961.538÷0.002406= 399,641.729 mm/spool

    Approximately 399.6 meters/spool.

Please feel free to check my math, I'm not 100% sure I did everything right.

    According to CURA
    With given diameter of 1.75
9.55 meters with 28 grams of total weight to complete the model, i would say that 1 kilo roll of filament should be around 333, not nearly 400.
Round these values to 10 meters with 30 grams and divide them u get 0.3333333333333 which make sense for a model of this size material projected cost $1 (rounded 0.96 cents) not including the cost for electicity.

    Question.
How much kilowatts does robo 3d eats per hour ?

If I have the time, I may try to determine the actual density of my ABS filament experimentally. I used 1.04 g/cc for the density, but it seems to vary quite quite a bit depending on the source, presumably due to some difference in manufacturing.

Would it be possible to print an entire spool of filament on one model on the Robo 3D printer? Assuming your using the spool from Robo.

    Yes.
Basically the filament is a cylinder 1.75 mm across and 333,000 mm long.
There are 0.002406 cc in 1 mm of filament.
    1÷0.002406= 415.628
So there is 1 cubic centimeter in every 415.628 mm of filament.
333000÷415.628= 801.197 cubic centimeters, which would be a cube 9.288 cm on a side.
    The Robo's build area is 22.8cm X 25.4cm X 20.0cm, which is 11,582.4 cubic centimeters.

However, if a 1kg spool has 333 mm of filament, that would mean its density was about 1.24g/cc, which is much higher than any other value I've seen for the density of ABS. Even so, if the density was 1.04g/cc, there would be 955.277 cc in a spool, which would still fit quite comfortably in the Robo's build area.

Another question: has anyone actually determined whether there is exactly 1,000 g of plastic on a spool? I would not be surprised if there was some variation.

Power consumption is actually low enough to be almost negligible.
Not sure about the robo, but I get about 25W on my ultimaker with no heated bed printing PLA. 100W on my Replicator printing ABS. That heated build plate uses a lot of power! So, the robo probably uses more. I'll try to remember to run it by itself and watch the readout on the UPS next time I run it.

It actually depends. The one I recently bought was 1300g ABS filament, around €27,95. The spool dimensions: Diameter 195 mm, Width 85 mm, Hole 39 mm. Try visiting this page for a further details: http://www.3d2print.net/shop/product/abs-white-1-75mm/. BTW, mine is ABS white filament 1.75mm.
