    I need to replace the Arduino and RAMPS boards in my Robo 3d R1 Plus. Comparing what is in my printer with what shows in the Robo store and other RAMPS boards I've found, they are a bit different. Mine has specific pins for the LED lights, hot end fan and a fan2. Is this something that is not made anymore? Any help is much appreciated.

    There is a thread under mods/upgrades that describes the custom ramps robo uses and tells you how to swap to a normal one. I will be able to link to it tomorrow if you don't find it by then. @Geof did that project

    They only did that for the + model... Lucky you ☺

    So that was a one off board then? Damn. Seems like such a better board with connectors for everything.
    Is it possible to load the Robo firmware onto an MKS Base v1.5 board? That seems like a nice and clean setup. I searched the forum for MKS Base but nothing comes up.

    @Jason Moberly
    Yes, since the Robo firmware is just Marlin 1.0.0 with no functional changes. I would actually look at Marlin 1.1.1 if you want something that is actually better than the silly modifications Robo made to Marlin 1.0.0.

    You can load Marlin onto an MKS board, but it will no longer use the Robo specific customization -- you will need to re-do CONFIGURATION.H (including the motherboard style selected).

    The C2 and R2 do not use discrete RAMPS boards, they have an integrated (and slightly customized) board that combines the Arduino/RAMPS into one and they also include the Raspberry Pi for OctoPrint.

    Hmm. I have zero experience withe Arduino or any programming stuff. I'm looking for the simplest way to get my machine working again without waiting 2 weeks for Robo to maybe get the boards back in stock. I will order up an Arduino and Ramps board and give it a try following that thread. Thanks!

    That is the fastest way to go and also why @Geof did that write up :)
    To make it easy to move off of the custom ones to the cheaper, widely available ones.

    it is super simple. I had someone with zero technical skills do it to a Robo last week (I watched). The thread will get you where you need to go, and if you get stuck just ask for help

    With Prime free same day delivery, hopefully I will be doing this tonight. I labeled all my wires last night when removing the old board so hopefully all goes easy tonight. Thanks for the info!

    Holy Crap it worked!!
    The packaging of my board left me with many bent pins, including a whole stepper motor driver with pins at a 90 degree angle to where they were supposed to be. I got them all straightened out and got it together. I'm printing a small part now to test and all is well so far.
    Thanks for the help all!
