looking for a something that can dissolve filaments

    hi, as the title says, i am looking for some chemicals that can completely dissolve PLA and or ABS filaments that has been used already. got any ideas? something thats safe. thanks

    Acetone (available from paint suppliers) will dissolve ABS completely. Safe with some sensible precautions. Use in a well ventilated and spark free area.

    PLA ? maybe someone has a magic potion?

    PLA the best choice is MEK (or Substitute MEK as you may not be able to get Methyl Ethyl Keytone--it is rather nasty)

    [edit: in all fairness nothing does PLA as good as acetone does ABS]

    Water and Lye will supposedly dissolve PLA and not ABS. It doesn't really solve it the same way as acetone and ABS though.
