Well, the Marlin devs haven't changed their ways, they continue to add new untested code instead of fixing all the old stuff. I am still hopeful they will release 1.1.4 and move on with their code rebase in a newer release (1.2.0).

It is total anarchy in that one. I tried for a while to help out, but I no longer have enough free time to want to dedicate to that.
@Ziggy has my admiration. I think he long since abandoned the Robo, but he still works on Marlin :)

Not all open source projects are that crazy to work with. There are about a dozen I still do contributions for.

That may be true. I wish I had the time to get deeper into it, but they keep calling me back to work offshore...lol...I noticed that CR-10 is running Marlin. And rumor has it that Tevo is putting out a clone with a 450x450x400 build area sometime this weekend....Hmmmm..mesh...

oh @Robert55 Those big build plates are flat annoying to set mesh up on :D I find it easier to just level the build plate (since you can on those machines) and be on with the printing :D

Geof, you're probably right. When I got home last time, I had Pergo's Y axis upgrade all set. Ended up printing beer bottle caps, can lids, and mixed drink covers for the outdoor bar across the street...$2 each.. Until I cracked my bed. Lowe's has an $18 mirror that's 30inx36in - 6 10x18 build plates. I'll have to adjust Pergo's Y axis end pieces....lol That's 5in over stock..

You should be able to have a hardware company cut glass somewhere in your area down to size, or pick up a 1 dolla glass cutter and teach yourself ! (its super easy, score flip, tap)

Sure, after lots of practice it is that easy otherwise you are missing some steps (cursing for one). :)

    Still, not difficult to learn

Lowe's does it free. I have half meter shafts in there now. Accesses 390mm on the Y axis, and I have a couple inches of build plate left on both ends. The mirror is 1/8 in. I'm putting one in to carry the bed heater and one to go in the freezer. I'll have to adjust Pergo's ends to carry 2 layers, and I need longer shafts to get the rest of the build plate.

But now, for some odd reason, when I try to do Mesh, my lcd freezes. I reboot it, and it says Z Endstops. Anyone around here know what that's all about???? ;)

In my opinion, yes. The temperatures we use do not justify the need for Borosilicate.

    Opinions vary :)

Here are the files for Marlin 1.1.4 preconfigured for the R1 and the R1+PLUS. Only Unified Bed Leveling (UBL) as been enabled. Full Graphics Smart Controller is also the default. Compile has been tested with Arduino 1.8.3 only. Not tested on my Robo R1. Make sure you load defaults into memory (M502) then save the new defaults to EEPROM (M500) before use. It would also be a good idea to perform PID tuning on the hotend and bed to assure accurate and steady heating.
