    What happens if you plug the USB cable to a PC? Does the board power up?

    It's unlikely that you burned up both the RAMPS board and the Arduino. I made a couple of sparks when I was building the i3 and things were no worse for wear. It may be a bit of a trick to figure out which and replacing the whole kit with something more reliable than the RRD kit might be a good investment anyway.

    Nope, nothing powers up. The serial port no longer shows up. It's possible part of the control board is ok, but part of it is dead. So I ordered a replacement and then after getting the printer up and running again I'll check the RAMPS board and see what's still valid.

    Pull the boards apart and look for burnt traces.

    I blew a trace when messing with my printer but that was just on the ramps board. I managed to repair it by replacing a mosfet
