If you've printer it at 70mm/s - what would it look like printed at 30 or 50? Slower is better I've heard.

 

Found a way to show the amount of detail that was actually kept on my dime sized Yoda. I put him on an LED and took pictures with varying levels of exposure.

 

Finally painted some other parts I printed a while back. Keep in mind I just started painting... yesterday, so these aren't going to be the best job ever. Barrel 1 and Barrel 2 show the level of difference in detail I was able to get between a .4 nozzle and a .2.

So do you change nozzles friends m.4 to .2?
When changing nozzles do you have to change the firmware?

 

I went from .4 to .2 a while back and never switched back.. There are times I want to because the .4 would make the prints go faster, but I'm willing to sacrifice some time for quality, even on larger prints. Plus.. I'm lazy.

As for the firmware update, I didn't have to. I just input into Cura that I'm using a different nozzle size and it calculates the changes for flow rate and such.

 

My finished and painted Beholder. Paint job on this guy was very light. I wanted to keep the black color of the filament, but just give him some tones.

I dunno what you're complaining about, that's a nice looking print

 

Not so much complaining, I guess. I am happy with my prints overall. I think it's just one of those "Grass is greener" things. You see flaws in your own prints that others may not see and other people's prints can look all nice and smooth and perfect.

I'm still 100% happy I got this printer.

 

Yup I know that feeling. Having the thing in your hands gives you more time to be critical of it, when most everyone else would never even notice your criticisms.

 

Fire Giant: Part of THIS set from thingiverse.

Not the best quality because I cranked the speed on my printer from the 70 that I usually do to 110. Still came out fairly well though.

I'll likely end up printing more at the slower speed for better detail. More images attached below.

 

Your minis make me so jealous. Everytime I try printing something small it ends in tears.

 

It's the opposite for me. I have problems with large items.

 

Are you planning on painting the figures?

 

Yes, I'll be painting them like I did with the chest and the barrels. I can't promise they'll look good, but I'll be painting them none the less.

 

I still need to get some good paint for flesh tones and some metallic silver for the sword, but here's a WIP shot of the Fire Giant. No work has been done on the back half yet.
