My new Robo had an issue with one of the threaded rods not being tight in the dive assembly, After several hours of troubleshooting I noticed and was able to fix it (at least temporarily) with a little tinkering madness and some shim tape. Once that was done, I am amazed at how well my first prints have come out.

Of course we all (most) start with the calibration stuff...

But my daughter has been hounding me for something she found on Thingiverse since I started THINKING about buying a Robo3d....WOW...my 2nd print is amazing...especially considering all the issues on that cube!

I'm also very impressed with the relative smoothness...pictures accentuate the ridges and zaxis ribbing, but in person it looks damn good! PLA .2mm its just 2" wide leg to leg :p

That is some crap filament.. I am impressed.

The top pic you can see a little under/overshoot for some layers at the corners (usually a loose belt or something in the drive) but I do not see it in the second/bottom one. Good work :)

Try using 0.2046 or .1976 instead. 5/16"-18 rods get rounding errors.

You can determine the correct layer height size here: http://calculator.josefprusa.cz/

Could someone post a picture of that cube that has been printed with a "perfectly set up" printer? I think mine does all right be I don't really have anything to compare it to. I'm wondering just how good corners can look. :)

That's a nice print. What did you do different? Anything in the settings? Upgrade anything? Do tell

Stock printer using 0.2046 layer height, PLA @ 190, heated bed 55, filament called GS Doer, Orange
    [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

First order of business is to her the bed level and have the extruder level with the bed. Use the setting in the Robo3d printer Youtube channel for Repetier setup. Tweak the filament temp for your PLA 190, 220 for ABS. I also modified my extruder to lift 0.15. It's quieter.

Everything else is to stock so make sure your bolts and screws are tight especially under the bed.

If you have problems after those settings, then it's a problem with the extruder height and bed level.

Also try different manufacturers of filament till you find one you like.

Alright. This will give me a starting point to play around with.
I'm trying out different companies for the filament
