sounds like it's not making good contact with the kapton heater. Does the heater actually get warm?

the heater pad on the glass bed. It's called a kapton heater. Next time just google the word you don't understand.

If it's getting warm then your thermistor is not making good contact

    How is it secured?

oh rite sorry lol just did how could i forget google
    the bed is fine
the hot end isnt secured with anything yet i guess it should be ?
it just has some tape around it atm holding it in place how it came with the little rubber black thing
I did notice the new thermistor was slightly smaller than the one that came with it had to clean alot of melted plastic around it.

would some sort of sealer be better ?

Ok yeah push it in so that it's making contact with the metal, then put the plastic cover over it.

You can use some high temp silicone, like from an automotive store, or just use pressure to get a good contact.

Na that's the same size. It just needs a decent amount of pressure to be sure the glass bead is touching the metal.

It probably had a little thermal paste or kapton tape or something.

Try Repetier Host or something else at least (i.e. Cura) other than MatterControl.
Make sure the problem is the printer and not that software. It is not really ready for Prime Time (IMHO).

Make sure the nozzle is actually staying cold, but obviously don't burn yourself on it.

Otherwise check your connections for the heater cartridge

Ill drop my two cents here, If you get frustrated with the hexagon( its a hell of a lot better then the old jhead) you should drop some change on the e3d v6
    http://www.printedsolid.com/shop/e3d/e3dv6/
NOTE: request an extra long piece of ptfe to extend it through the extruder to the hobbled bolt.

and then hook it up wiht one of this thermo-coupler
    http://www.printedsolid.com/shop/e3d/stud-thermistor/

    this is an unstoppable combo.

again i dont know if you are interested in spending money on this but most everybody on the forums has an e3d its the gold standard of print heads.

    :)
