So the hole in the spools are different sizes and the older stuff won't find on the new hanger.. I bought a ton of that older filament while I was waiting for the printer to come in. Anyone have a clever solution?

Currently I have no clue how to design my own prints or I would fix it myself somehow.. LOL

@mark tomlinson has a floor stand that he made to hold filament. Might be worth chatting with him. I do a wall mount on all my printers, but with the runout sensor you'd have to mount it fairly low.

That is the desktop version :)
I have one that is the floor stand made with the same sort of parts... Holds a boatload of filament.

Both were relatively cheap and sturdy as all get out. Hold small spools and large spools (small holes or large)

I have a good number of spools with center holes too small to fit on the R2's hooks.
A more permanent solution is pending along with a more permanent home for the R2, but as an expedient in the meantime, I have been using my old 3D printer as a filament spool holder for the R2.

that is one expensive spool holder ;) lots of printable spool holders to get you by if you have room on the table (or cheap to build)

My original printer is essentially toast at this point anyway, but the bearing-supported spool holder still works great. At least this way it can still be of some practical use.

    Yes, that's an M3D Micro.
It worked well enough to give me an inexpensive introduction to 3D printing. The fact that it had... issues... that needed to be designed around gave me incentive and impetus to make progress with the design software (mostly OpenSCAD). It worked for about a year, but eventually the design shortcuts caught up with it, and I could no longer keep the printhead heating, adhering, or feeding filament long enough to make usable prints. The fact that it required a dedicated computer for operation, and would choke if that computer tried to do anything else _at_all_ while printing contributed to my unwillingness to put any more effort into keeping it running.

It was a good introductory experience for the way that I prefer to learn, but it was a first step, and not much else. Even if I could bodge it back up to its original functionality, I wouldn't even gift it to most people - it's just way too fiddly and unreliable to be compatible with most people's tolerance for frustration.

Having upgraded to an R2, I am cautiously expanding my expectations of what I can and can't print successfully. I keep finding myself pleasantly surprised to find that it can in fact do things that I had previously considered to be beyond my ability to print.

Plus, there's the novelty value of being able to place the entire old printer inside the print volume of the new one. ;^)

What are M3Ds really going for when they aren't claiming to be on sale, anyway?

I'll have to find the pic of printers on a build plate I took when I bought my gmax LOL now that was funny

That is hilarious. I pick up machines like that to put on a wall in the shop so when people tour they can see not all are great lol.

I've installed an appropriately sized Octoprint server on mine:

299, or 324 for some colors. Or you can get a 249 refurb which I did.
